AbstractWe outline a pragmatic-normative understanding of logic as a discipline that is completely anchored in the sphere of action, rules, means and ends: We characterize inferring as a speech act which is in need of regulation and we connect inferential rules with consequence relations. Furthermore, we present a scenario which illustrates how one actually assesses or can in principle assess the quality of logical rules with respect to justificatory questions. Finally, we speculate on the origin of logical rules as a means of supporting our practice of inferring.

Tindak tutur komisif merupakan salah satu aspek pragmatik yang harus diperhatikan oleh penerjemah ketika menerjemahkan teks. Hal itu dilakukan agar menghasilkan terjemahan yang berkualitas dari aspek keakuratan dan keberterimaan. Berdasarkan alasan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan mendiskripsikan tingkat keakuratan dan keberterimaan terjemahan kalimat yang mengakomodasi tindak tutur komisif dengan pendekatan pragmatik. Data yang digunakan ialah tuturan komisif dan hasil penilaian kualitas terjemahan. Data bersumber dari novel Insurgent karya Veronica Roth dan informan. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara analisis dokumen, kuesioner dan Focus Group Discussion. Selanjutnya, data dianalisis dengan cara analisis domain, taksonomi, komponensial, dan tema budaya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjemahan dalam novel Insurgent mempunyai nilai keakuratan dan keberterimaan yang cukup tinggi. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat keakuratan dan keberterimaan pada setiap jenis tindak tutur komisif memiliki dampak terhadap kualitas keseluruhan terjemahan kalimat yang mengandung tindak tutur komisif.Commissive speech act is one of the pragmatic aspects to regard by the translator in translating the text. It aims to produce a qualified translation in regarding accuracy and acceptability aspects. According to the aspects, this research aims to describe accuracy and acceptability of translation in sentences which accommodate commissive speech act using pragmatic approach. The data used is commissive speech and qualitative translation value result. The sources of the data are an Insurgent novel by Veronica Roth and informants. The data were collected through document analysis, questionnaire, and Focus Group Discussion then analyzed the domain, taxonomic, componential analysis, and cultural theme. The result shows that translation in the Insurgent novel has high accuracy and acceptability values. This research concludes that the accuracy and acceptability level in each commissive speech act has an impact on quality of whole translated sentences which contain commissive speech act.

AbstractViolation of the speech maxim in the Presidential Candidates Election Debate of theRepublic of indonesia In 2019.This research was aimed at describing the forms of violationof the speech act maxim and describing the functions of violationofspeech act maxim in thepresidential candidate election debate of the Republic of Indonesia in 2019. This research wasqualitative, and conducted by using the descriptive method. The soutce of data was thePresidential Candidate Election Debate of the Republic of Indonesia in 2019. The researchresults of speech maxim violation in the Presidential Candidate Election Debate of theRepublic of Indonesia in 2019 consist of 5 research problems, which are: (1) the form ofquantity of maxim violation, (2) the form of quality of maxim violation, (3) the form of relevanceof maxim violation, (4) the form of method of maxim violation, and (5) the functions of speechacts of maxim violation. The form of quantity maxim violation consists of statements containinganswers that comprise the information needed. The form of quality maxim violation consists ofstatements that contain answers which are less convincing, and contain answers which aresimilar or agree to the questions, and also contain answers which the evidence is not true. Theform of relevance maxim violation consists of statements which contain answers that are notrelevance with the questions and contain the contents of the correct answer but are notrelevance. The form of method maxim violation consists of statements which containambiguous answers, and contain long and wordy answers. The function of the speech acts hasfour functions: Representative function which consists of statements of affirmation, conclusion,and facts. Expressive function consists of statements of praise, difficulty, happiness, andmisery. The development of pragmatic strategy in the journalistic process has an effect on the image of the person who has been reported. Directly or not, imaging of political figures to public figures is influenced by pragmatic strategies packed with journalists in the news media. Political figures until the public figure collaborate to create an interesting impression. An interesting impression or positive image will change the concept of society over this overnight assessment. The higher the pragmatic power journalists developed in writing the news, the better the quality of the news will be. In accordance with the results of pragmatic strategy research on Headline news on Republika.co.id can be concluded that in the creation of news headlines have implemented pragmatic strategy. The dominant pragmatic strategy used is the illocution act. The illusionary strategy becomes dominant because the news content that is headlined is dominated by political and economic news. So the development of explaination techniques more highlighted.

Fifty-nine Japanese college students of English at two different proficiency levels were evaluated for their ability to produce a speech act of request in a spoken role play task. Learners’ production was analyzed quantitatively by rating performance on a six-point scale for overall appropriateness, as well as qualitatively by identifying the directness levels of the linguistic expressions used to produce requests. Results revealed a significant L2 proficiency influence on overall appropriateness, but only a marginal difference in the types of linguistic expressions used between the two proficiency groups. Moreover, grammatical and discourse control encoded in the rating scale seemed to have affected the quality of speech acts.

Abstract. The objectives of this study are Analysis of techniques, methods, and ideologiesused by translator on translation form and function directive illocutionary of speech act and to assess the quality of translation form and function directive illocutionary of speech act used in bilingual comic Baby Blues siaga satu anak pertama from accuracy, acceptability, and readability of translation aspects. This research was a descriptive, qualitative, and embedded research of translation. The finding of this study shows; first, 273 data of directive illocutionary utterances applied 11 function, such as commanding, asking, asserting, inviting, requesting, ordering, advicing, suggesting, urgeing, rejecting, forbiding, recommending, reminding, and convinceing. Second, 273 data of directive illocutionary utterances analyzed, translation technique identified 248 data oriented to source language and 163 data oriented to target language. Thirth, concerning with translation quality of directive illocutionary speech act utterance in comic Baby Blues siaga satu anak pertama can be concluded that the translation is accurate. In this case is showed from 255 data constitute the translation accurate, 17 data less accurate, and 1 data not accurate, 254 data acceptability, 18 data less acceptability, and 1 data not acceptability, then 161 data high readability, 97 data medium readability, and 15 data low readability translation. <p><em>Using descriptive qualitative method, this paper aims to identify the forms of mitigation of criticizing speech acts in two novels entitled To Kill a Mockingbird and Go Set A Watchman, to identify translation technique used and to describe the quality of translation of expressions mitigating speech act of criticizing in those novels. Data used were linguistic units (words, phrases, clauses, or sentences) represented mitigation types of criticizing speech act. The findings indicate that there were two mitigation types of speech act criticizing, namely external and internal. Expressions mitigating speech act of criticizing from those novels mainly had an equivalent message in Source Text (ST). Translation techniques applied to translate mitigation forms in criticizing speech act imply the translator’s competence in conveying the message of Source Text. Thus, it will impact on shifting meaning or even level of politeness.</em></p>

<p><em>ABSTRACT</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>This research discusses about how a certain </em><em>technique can impact on the </em><em>quality of </em><em>translation in the statements of responding toward </em><em>arguing</em><em> speech act</em><em>. It aims to determine the impact of choosing a </em><em>certain micro </em><em>technique of translation toward the quality in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability. This research can be classified as a descriptive qualitative research which focuses on a single case. The source data of this research is the novel Allegiant, its translation</em><em> in Indonesian</em><em>, and the two raters. Then, the data are collected from the statement that respond</em><em>s</em><em> toward arguing. </em><em>Furthermore</em><em>, </em><em>Focus Group Discussion that has been done by two raters and the researcher is used to assess</em><em> the three aspect</em><em>s</em><em> of translation quality and determine the micro technique</em><em> that has been applied to translate the statement that responds arguing speech act</em><em>.</em><em> </em><em>The result of this research </em><em>is that</em><em> the application of</em><em> micro</em><em> technique of translation </em><em>that </em><em>is </em><em>mostly applied is established equivalent</em><em> technique that has been applied 172 data</em><em> 52,9 % that has been influenced the quality of translation because </em><em>he </em><em>total average of quality translation is 2,97 that is considered as a good translation</em><em>. In other words, </em><em>the establish equivalent </em><em>has a good impact toward quality of translation</em><em> toward statement that responds of arguing speech act</em><em>.</em></p><p><em> </em></p>

This essay explores western theatre dance as meaningful, despite its difference from language or discourse. I contend that although like language dance communicates through cultural codes, it does not convey literal messages but then neither is dance dominated by a requirement for factual specificity. I argue, however, that dance is structured like a language and I provide an analysis of the methods according to which language functions on an everyday basis. I review linguistic categories and argue for their counterparts in dance including vocabulary and syntax, the utterance and the speech act. The speech act is an important instance of language use which I hold is represented in dance; and in addressing this topic I shed new light on the performative quality of dance. The various theoretical issues discussed in the essay are illustrated by examples taken from modern and postmodern dance as well as from classical ballet.

Interviews are key in generating large amounts of information. This depends on the quality of the interviewer's questions. Therefore, the element of wh-question in the form of interrogative elements is no stranger in learning the skills of the interviewer. However, the element can be developed with or without interrogative sentences to get an answer from the interviewee, so that the sentence form is not the same as the expressed sentence mode. This is called the indirect speech act. Thus, it is understood that the interviewer does not always use the wh-question element.

<p>This research aims is to describe: (1) kinds of positive politeness markers in The Host novel, (2) translation techniques are used in the sentence that represent speech act of positive politeness in The Host novel, (3) the effects of the translation techniques which used by translators in sentences which represent politeness positive against the translation quality in terms of accuracy and acceptability.</p><p>This research is a descriptive-qualitative research. The sources of data are the dialogues of The Host novel which represent positive politeness and also informants who assess the quality of the translation. Data were collected by the using analyzing of documents, questionnaires, and  forum group discussion (FGD). Data are analyzed by using Spradley’s ethnography method.</p><p>The result of this research shows that there are 15 kinds of positive politeness strategy markers on The Host novel. The most dominating positive politeness strategy of this data is sub-strategy of use in-group identity marker, as much as 22,49% of the data. In this research, the translation techniques consist of the application of single translation techniques as much as 102 times, 136 times as many as couplets varian, varian of triplets as many as 34 times, and varian of quartets 2 times. The translation quality from 263 data (95,64%) include as accurate translation and 12 data (4,36%) are less accurate translation, then 231 data (84%) includes as acceptable translation, and 44 data (16%) are less acceptable translation. The majority of translation techniques have contributed positively to translation quality of The Host novel.</p><strong>Keywords: positive politeness, translation tehniques, translation quality</strong>
