Abstract In this article, heat transfer with nonlinear thermal radiation on sinusoidal motion of magnetic solid particles in a dust Jeffrey fluid has been studied. The effects of Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) and hall current are also taken under consideration. The governing equation of motion and energy equation are modelled with help of Ohms law for fluid and dust phases. The solutions of the resulting ordinary coupled partial differential equations are solved analytically. The impact of all the physical parameters of interest such as Hartmann number, slip parameter, Hall parameter, radiation parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number and particle volume fraction are demonstrated mathematically and graphically. Trapping mechanism is also discussed in detail by drawing contour lines. The present analysis affirms many interesting behaviours, which permit further study on solid particles motion with heat and mass transfer.

Abstract The steady laminar incompressible viscous magneto hydrodynamic boundary layer flow of an Eyring- Powell fluid over a nonlinear stretching flat surface in a nanofluid with slip condition and heat transfer through melting effect has been investigated numerically. The resulting nonlinear governing partial differential equations with associated boundary conditions of the problem have been formulated and transformed into a non-similar form. The resultant equations are then solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta fourth order method along with the shooting technique. The physical significance of different parameters on the velocity, temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction profiles is discussed through graphical illustrations. The impact of physical parameters on the local skin friction coefficient and rate of heat transfer is shown in tabulated form.

This paper scrutinizes the impact of thermal radiation and applied magnetic field on Jeffrey fluid with peristalsis. The effects of Joule heating and viscous dissipation are retained. Convective conditions are imposed for the heat and mass transfer analysis. Lubrication approach is considered for the analysis. Expressions for pressure gradient, stream function, temperature, concentration, and heat transfer coefficient are developed and physically interpreted through illustrations. It is revealed that temperature enhances for higher estimation of Brinkman and Hartmann numbers, while it decays for larger Biot number. Furthermore, the concentration decreases for varying Schmidt number. Heat transfer coefficient has an oscillatory behavior for larger estimation of radiation parameter.

Abstract A nanofluid is a combination of a normal liquid component and tiny-solid particles, in which the nanomaterials are immersed in the liquid. The dispersion of solid particles into yet another host fluid will extremely increase the heat capacity of the nanoliquids, and an increase of heat efficiency can play a significant role in boosting the rate of heat transfer of the host liquid. The current article discloses the impact of Arrhenius activation energy in the bioconvective flow of Burger nanofluid by an inclined wall. The heat transfer mechanism of Burger nanofluid is analyzed through the nonlinear thermal radiation effect. The Brownian dispersion and thermophoresis diffusions effects are also scrutinized. Established partial differential equation expressions are updated by a similarity transformation of the ordinary differential equation ODE. The numerical results are given by the built-in bvp4c function Matlab also applies the Labotto-IIIa formula for the shooting scheme. Trends with significant parameters via the flow of fluid, thermal, and solutal fields of species and the area of microorganisms are controlled. The numerical results for the current analysis are seen in the tables.

This work explores the heat transfer flow characteristics of an incompressible non-Newtonian Jeffrey fluid over a stretching/shrinking surface with thermal radiation and heat source. The sheet is linearly stretched in the presence of a transverse magnetic field with convective boundary conditions. Appropriate similarity variables are used to transform the basic governing equations (PDEs) into ODEs. The resulting equations are solved by utilizing MATLAB bvp4c. The impact of distinctive physical parameters and dimensionless numbers on the flow field and heat transfer is analysed graphically. It is noticed that the measure of heat raised with increasing the Biot number and opposite effect with the rise of the suction parameter.

In this paper, the effects of heat transfer and Hall current on the sinusoidal motion of solid particles through a planar channel has been discussed. The walls of the channel are considered as compliant under the effects of magnetohydrodynamics. The mathematical formulation has been performed using energy equation, momentum equation, and Ohm’s law. The modeled equations are further modified by taking the assumption of a zero Reynolds number and long wavelength. Numerical shooting technique has been employed to solve the nonlinear differential equations. The impact of all the emerging parameters such as wall rigidity, wall tension, mass characterization, Hall parameter, Hartmann number, Weissenberg number, particle volume fraction, Prandtl number, and Eckert number, respectively. Particularly, we discussed their effects on velocity and temperature profile.

In the current framework, a model is constituted to explore the impacts of high suction and partial slip on Fe3O4–water nanoliquid flow over a porous moveable surface in a parallel free stream. The mechanisms of heat transfer are also modeled in the existence of Newtonian heating effect. The obtaining PDEs are transformed into a non-linear ODE system employing appropriate boundary conditions to diverse physical parameters. The governing ODE system is solved using a singular perturbation technique that results in an analytical asymptotic solution as a function of the physical parameters. The obtained solution allows us to carry out an analytical parametric study to investigate the impact of the physical parameters on the nonlinear attitude of the system. The precision of the proposed method is verified by comparisons between the numerical and analytical results. The results confirm that the proposed technique yields a good approximation to the solution as well as the solution calculation has no CPU time-consuming or round off error. Numerical solutions are computed and clarified in graphs for the model embedded parameters. Moreover, profiles of the skin friction coefficient and the heat transfer rate are also portrayed and deliberated. The data manifests that both solid volume fraction and slip impact significantly alter the flow profiles. Moreover, an upward trend in temperature is anticipated for enhancing Newtonian heating strength. Additionally, it was found that both the nanofluid velocity and temperature distributions are decelerated when the solid volume fraction and suction parameters increase. Furthermore, a rise in slip parameter causes an increment in velocity profiles, and a rise in Biot number causes an increment in the temperature profiles.

A numerical investigation has been done to study the impact of nonlinear magnetic field, nonlinear thermal radiation, variable thickness, and Brownian motion on flow and heat transfer characteristics (i.e., skin friction and surface heat flux) as a physical application. Moreover, the impact of these forces on the rate of cooling and the mechanical properties (i.e., hardness, ductility, …) of a surface that is cooled using nanofluid as a coolant is explored. The governing boundary layer equations describing the problem are transformed to ordinary differential equations using the similarity transformation method and are then solved numerically using the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method with shooting technique with the assistance of Mathematica program.

In this paper, heat transfer and entropy of steady Williamson nanofluid flow based on the fundamental symmetry is studied. The fluid is positioned over a stretched flat surface moving non-uniformly. Nanofluid is analyzed for its flow and thermal transport properties by consigning it to a convectively heated slippery surface. Thermal conductivity is assumed to be varied with temperature impacted by thermal radiation along with axisymmetric magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). Boundary layer approximations lead to partial differential equations, which are transformed into ordinary differential equations in light of a single phase model accounting for Cu-water and TiO2-water nanofluids. The resulting ODEs are solved via a finite difference based Keller box scheme. Various formidable physical parameters affecting fluid movement, difference in temperature, system entropy, skin friction and Nusselt number around the boundary are presented graphically and numerically discussed. It has also been observed that the nanofluid based on Cu-water is identified as a superior thermal conductor rather than TiO2-water based nanofluid.

Nanofluids, solid-liquid suspensions with solid particles of size of the order of few nanometers, have created interest in many researchers because of their enhancement in thermal conductivity and convective heat transfer characteristics. Many studies have been done on the pool boiling characteristics of nanofluids, most of which have been with nanofluids containing oxide nanoparticles owing to the ease in their preparation. Deterioration in boiling heat transfer was observed in some studies. Metallic nanofluids having metal nanoparticles, which are known for their good heat transfer characteristics in bulk regime, reported drastic enhancement in thermal conductivity. The present paper investigates into the pool boiling characteristics of metallic nanofluids, in particular of Cu-H2O nanofluids, on flat copper heater surface. The results indicate that at comparatively low heat fluxes, there is deterioration in boiling heat transfer with very low particle volume fraction of 0.01%, and it increases with volume fraction and shows enhancement with 0.1%. However, the behavior is the other way around at high heat fluxes. The enhancement at low heat fluxes is due to the fact that the effect of formation of thin sorption layer of nanoparticles on heater surface, which causes deterioration by trapping the nucleation sites, is overshadowed by the increase in microlayer evaporation, which is due to enhancement in thermal conductivity. Same trend has been observed with variation in the surface roughness of the heater as well.
