In the Dnipro area, Veronica arguteserrata is a new adventitious species of Asian origin from the family Plantaginaceae Juss., growing in the same ecological conditions – in shaded areas with moderate anthropogenic impact due to trampling, on loose soils and on parchment plots. The species is ephemeral: begins to grow in the second half of April, blooms in mid-May, bears fruit at the end of the same month, turns yellow in June and dies. We used 160 plants to study the morphological and ecological variability of Veronica arguteserrata. For analysis, we measured plant height, root length, length of the first and second internodes, length and width of leaf blade, number of peduncles, number of flowers, width and length of bract, corolla diameter, length and width of the fruits, number of seeds in the nest and number of fruits on the plant. The average values of all components were determined, the errors and population density, the number of individuals per 0.01 m2 were determined. Using a grid of 20 × 10 cm, divided into eight squares 5 × 5 cm, calculated the density of plants in tenfold repetition. The accuracy of density estimation, calculated as the ratio of error of the arithmetic mean to the arithmetic mean and expressed as a percentage, was 3.8–6.3%. The accuracy of assessment of other traits ranged from 2.2 to 7.5%, which is quite acceptable for field research. Analysis of the data showed that Veronica arguteserrata in the study area forms a fairly dense density of grasses, in which almost no other species are immersed. With increasing density, there is a tendency to increase the length of the first internode and reduce the area of the leaf blade, the number of peduncles, flowers and fruits on individuals. Within the parks, the plants were mowed at the end of the growing season. Probably due to mowing, as well as a slightly greater impact of trampling, the density of park populations is lower than on the highway near buildings. Synecological analysis showed that in the conditions of Dnipro area Veronica arguteserrata is a xeromesophyte, mesotroph, sciogeliophyte and ruderant. In the studied phytocenoses with increasing population of Veronica arguteserrata  there is a tendency to decrease plant height, length of the second internode, length and width of the leaf blade, number of peduncles and flowers, length and width of bracts, peduncle length, corolla diameter and corolla diameter increase and box length. The highest variability was observed in the following signs from the vegetative sphere of Veronica arguteserrata plants: root length, leaf blade length, in the generative sphere: the number of flowers and of fruit on the plant. It is these features that make the largest share in the morphological variability of the studied species and determine its overall ecological and morphological plasticity. As a result of analysis of variance, the influence of population density on morphometric characteristics of plants was statistically proved. The population density has the greatest influence on the following features of the vegetative sphere: the length of the first internode and the length of the leaf blade; in the generative sphere: the diameter of the corolla and the length of the bract. Thus, the variability of these traits can be considered as a mechanism of intra-population  morphological adaptations of the new adventitious species Veronica arguteserrata in the Dnipro area. The new adventitious species needs further monitoring studies to assess the level of impact on the ecosystems of Dnipro area.

The plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium Bacillus cereus RS87 was previously reported to promote plant growth in various crops in both greenhouse and field trials. To apply as a plant growth promoting agent with practical use, it is essential to ease the burden of routine preparation of a fresh suspension of strain RS87 in laboratory. The objectives of this study were to investigate the feasibility of film-coating seeds with B. cereus RS87 spores for early plant growth enhancement and to reveal the indoleacetic acid (IAA) production released from strain RS87. The experiment consisted of the following 5 treatments: nontreated seeds, water-soaked seeds, film-coated seeds, seeds soaked with vegetative cells of strain RS87, and film-coated seeds with strain RS87 spores. Three experiments were conducted separately to assess seed emergence, root length, and plant height. Results showed that both vegetative cells and spores of strain RS87 significantly promoted (P ≤ 0.05) seed emergence, root length and plant height over the control treatments. The strain RS87 also produced IAA. In conclusion, the film coating of seeds with spores of B. cereus RS87 demonstrated early plant growth enhancement as well as seeds using their vegetative cells. IAA released from strain RS87 would be one of the mechanisms for plant growth enhancement.

This study aimed to determine the best dosage of goat manure as a natural fertilizer on Beha grass(Brachiaria humidicola). This study used 64 poles of Beha grass grown in polybags divided into 16plots, and it used a completely randomized design (CRD) to analyze the data. This study consist of 4treatments that is P0 (0 ton/ha of goat manure), P1 (10 ton/ha of goat manure), P2 (15 ton/ha of goatmanure), and P3 (20 ton/ha of goat manure). This study's variables were plant height, number of leaves,numbers of tillers, new production, and root length. Data analysis used ANOVA variance continued withreal honest difference test. The result of this study showed that averages of plant height (cm) wereP0=26, P1=50.5, P2=51.5, and P3=52.75. Averages of the number of leaves were P0=22, P1=110,P2=160, and P3=185. Averages of numbers of tillers were P0=7, P1=25, P2=37, and P3=38. Averages ofnew production (g) were P0=17.75, P1=123.5, P2=178, and P3=192.25. Averages of root length (cm)were P0=37.8, P1=39.5, P2=41.775, and P3=49.5. Fertilization with natural fertilizer from goat manurehas a genuine effect (P<0.01) on the growth of Beha grass. The best dosage of fertilization with goatmanure was 15 ton/ha.

Sage and mountain sage belong to Lamiaceae family which have commercial importance from medicinal and aromatic plants in Turkey. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different doses of selenium in salinity conditions on the morphological characteristics of sage (Salvia officinalis L.) and mountain tea (Sideritis sp.). Four different doses of selenium (5, 10, 20, 40 mg/l) were applied in without salinity (0) and salinity (250 mM NaCl/l) medium. The experiment was carried out in the split plot design with three replications in the climate chamber room of the department of field crops. When the examined properties were evaluated; plant height changed between 15.56-23.85 cm, number of branches 10.50-12.78 number/plant, number of leaves 52.78-92.00 number/plant, fresh leaf weight 2.48-7.51 g/plant, dry leaf weight 0.48-3.32 g/plant, fresh root weight 1.52-7.16 g/plant, dry root weight 0.19-1.24 g/plant, root length 26.18-36.07 cm, fresh shoot weight of 1.13-7.15 g/plant and dry shoot weight 0.13-0.38 g/plant. In mountain tea, the properties were determined for plant height as 3.26-5.93 cm, for number of branches as 2.50-6.33 number/plant, for number of leaves as 28.22-91.14 number/plant, for fresh and dry leaf weights as 2.42-11,03 and 0.45-1.91 g/plant, for fresh and dry root weights as 0.71-3.97 and 0.18-0.74 g/plant, for root length as 14.78-33.26 cm, for fresh and dry shoot weights as 0.29-2.28 and 0.12-0.41 g/plant were determined. As a result of this study, 5 mg/l selenium application in salinity conditions in both plants has reached high values in terms of fresh leaf weights. In addition to this, it was found that selenium applications in salinity conditions had positive effects on dry leaf weight in sage and fresh root and fresh shoot weights in mountain tea. As a result of correlation analysis, positive correlations were found between dry leaf weight and other characteristics especially in mountain tea in terms of traits examined in both plants.

PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) is a substance that helps plant growth with the help of rhizosphere microorganisms. PGPR propagation can be done with liquid media. This PGPR propagation needs to be done because this substance has many benefits for agricultural cultivation. The application of PGPR to the test plant, namely the pakcoy plant, proved that there was an effect of giving PGPR to the plant. Observations on the test plants were carried out by observing several observation variables such as plant height, root length, number of leaves, wet weight and dry weight. The results of these observations showed that the effect on the test plants was seen in the variables of root length, wet weight, and dry weight. Meanwhile, the variable plant height and number of leaves did not show a visible difference.

Roots represent the fundamental structure and material transport systems in plants. These important organs are used to study the adaptation processes in the environment. During the nursery stage, root evaluation serves as determining the seedling quality before transplant. This research aims to ascertain the root characteristics of several Arabica coffee varieties for a suitably vigorous root nursery system. Kaliwining Experimental Garden, Jember, Indonesia, served as the research location. The method used was a completely randomized design with a single factor, including arabica coffee varieties (Abesinia-3, Andungsari-1, BLP-4, Gayo-1, K-08, K-29, K-34, K-79, K-130, Kartika-1, Kayumas and Sigararutang). The result showed that the differences in the various sample factors significantly influenced the root properties. In addition, the entire observation parameters demonstrated a positive correlation except for the root and shoot ratio. Furthermore, BLP-4 v obtained the maximum values for plant height, stem diameter, fresh dry weight of taproot, and root biomass, while Gayo-1 variety observed the greatest number of leaves. Also, the Sigararutang variety indicated the highest value of the fresh and dry weight of shoot, fresh weight of lateral roots, and root length, while Kayumas and K-34 varieties acquired the lowest values of plant height, fresh and dry weight of shoot and root, as well as root length. Therefore, BLP-4, Gayo-1, and Sigararutang varieties exhibited the potentials of broader adaptability.

ABSTRACT The purpose of the research was to studied the application of gliricidia MOL on the growth and yield of lowland rice in the salibu method, and to get the best concentration of gliricidia liquid organic fertilizer  (POC) on the growth and production of lowland rice. Field research has been conducted in Tababo Village, Subdistrict of Belang, district of Southeast Minahasa. The treatment in the experiment consists of one treatment factor, that were concentrations of gliricidia POC, ie  : 0, 50 , 100, 150, and 200 ml/litre. The results showed that gliricidia POC  have an effect on plant height, the number of  grain/panicle, and the dry grain yield (GKP) / plot, but not affect the number of productive tillers and weight of 1,000 grain. The best results were achieved in gliricidia POC concentration 200 ml/litre  with the highest values were: plant height was 98.93 cm; 116.420 grain/panicle; and 8.300 kg dry grain yield or equivalent to 6.92 ton/ha.Keywords : gliricidia POC, production, lowland rice,  salibu method

ABSTRACT The aim of the research was to studied the application of gliricidia MOL on the growth and yield of lowland rice in the SRI method, and to get the best time of gliricidia MOL application on the growth and production of lowland rice. Field research has been conducted in Tara-Tara II Village, West Tomohon Subdistrict for five months starting from June 2017 until November 2017. Treatment in the experiment consists of one treatment factor, that was interval time of gliricidia MOL application, ie  : 0, 5 , 10, 15, and 20 days. The results showed that time application of gliricidia MOL have an effect on the number of productive tillers, the number of filled grain/panicle, the number  of empty grain/panicle, and the dry grain yield (GKP) / plot, but not affect the plant height. The best results were achieved in gliricia MOL application on interval time every 15 days with a values were : 28.66 productive tillers; 176.90 fillet grain/panicle; 19.80 empty grain/panicle (lowest); and 9.50 kg dry grain yield or equivalent to 7.92 ton/ha.Keywords: gliricidia MOL, production, lowland rice,  System of Rice Intensification  (SRI)

The purpose of this study was to reveal that reconstructed soil composed of different types and proportions of materials has different effects on the growth of Melilotus officinalis, and to determine the most suitable formula of reconstructed soil materials to use for soil replacement. Using topsoil, coal gangue, fly ash, and rock and soil stripping materials from Shengli Mining Area of Inner Mongolia as raw materials, stratified and mixed pot experiments were carried out in a greenhouse using different proportions of each material. The differences in the aboveground biomass, leaf width, plant height, and root length of Melilotus officinalis plants in pot experiments were then compared using analysis of variance. The results showed that using different combinations of materials in different proportions affected the growth status of Melilotus officinalis, and their effects on biomass were greater than their effects on plant height, root length, and leaf width. When topsoil, coal gangue, and rock and soil stripping materials were mixed at a ratio of 3:3:4, respectively, the biomass of Melilotus officinalis increased by nearly 30% compared with that of plants potted in pure topsoil. When the content of coal gangue was controlled to be 30%, the content of fly ash was below 10%, and the content of rock and soil stripping materials was below 40%, the reconstructed soil conditions clearly promoted the growth of Melilotus officinalis. Coal gangue, rock and soil stripping materials, and fly ash can thus be used as substitutes for topsoil. Mixing soil reconstruction materials in the optimal proportion can solve the scarcity of topsoil in the grassland mining areas in the study region and, at the same time, can effectively improve the utilization of solid waste in this mining area.

ABSTRACT Several studies were carried out to evaluate polymer-coated mineral fertilizers; however, few studies, on the agronomic efficiency of these fertilizers in the field in carrot crop, are available. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the use of enhanced-efficiency phosphorus fertilizer coated with polymers in carrot (Daucus carota). The experiment was carried out in field, in Ipameri-GO. The experimental design was randomized blocks, arranged in an incomplete factorial design (5x2)+1, considering five phosphorus doses (150, 300, 450, 600 and 750 ha-1 kg P2O5), two P sources [conventional MAP (monoammonium phosphate) and polymer-coated MAP (Policote)] and one additional treatment (control, without P). The evaluated traits were plant height, root length, root diameter, total productivity, marketable root classes, agronomic efficiency of phosphate fertilization and P content in the roots. Data were submitted to analysis of variance and regression. Phosphate fertilization did not influence the P content in carrot roots, but increased plant height, root length and diameter and yield of carrot roots. Polymer-coated phosphate increased plant height, length, diameter and productivity of carrot roots, when compared to conventional fertilizer. Carrot productivity was, on average, 15.5% higher with polymer-coated P source (39.42 t ha-1) than with the conventional P source (34.11 t ha-1). Marketable roots were also improved with the use of polymer-coated phosphate fertilizer. Phosphate fertilizer coated with polymer increased the agronomic efficiency of phosphate fertilization in the carrot crop.
