An important stage in the formation of the future specialist is the independent work of the applicant, in particular the involvement of the best representatives in research work. Applicants are attracted to the GDR through a student research group. The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and quarantine restrictions have forced almost all countries to reconsider educational strategies. Purpose — to evaluate student research group the role of the functioning in the higher medical educational institution at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in the training of future highly qualified specialists and the peculiarities of its work during distance learning. Results. An important means of organizing the educational work of applicants for in-depth study of various aspects of pediatric dentistry is their research activities in independent work, in the process of which teachers are initiative and interested applicants who continue research within the student research group department, conducting research on selected topics. During distance learning IFNMU uses the site «Office 365 Cloud Services», which is accessible to all teachers and students. During the quarantine, student research group meetings are held in the format of online conferences in the Microsoft Teams program (previously created team with the type «Class» — student research group Department of Pediatric Dentistry, which added students of all courses of the Faculty of Dentistry and events in the program — in calendar according to the calendar-thematic plan student research group meetings, students and teachers are invited). Microsoft Teams is a teamroom for Office 365, which is a simpler version of learning management systems, but allows the learning team to communicate and share files. The program is convenient because it combines everything in a common work environment, which includes chat for discussion, file sharing and corporate programs. The student research group meeting was organized by video link. Conclusions. Thus, participation in the student research group Department of Pediatric Dentistry IFNMU gives applicants the opportunity to prepare a full-fledged scientific work that enhances the educational process, promotes their professional growth, helps to combine creativity, theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The current state of the system of higher medical education is grounded on many factors including the growing volume of specialized information and the need to expand the level of students’ independent work as well as the conditions of certain restrictions independent of the educational system associated with quarantine measures, etc. This situation predetermines the model of blended learning and the search for both new and improvement of traditional methods and approaches for achieving a high-quality educational process, the purpose of which is to train a highly qualified future internship doctor. Relevant introduction of innovative methods along with the classic teaching “at the patient's bedside” both independently and together with the teacher is one of the motivating components for the student to master the discipline “Internal medicine”. There may be the following variants of interactive forms of learning: role play, work in small groups, case method, lesson-conference, creative tasks: thematic crosswords, quizzes; interactive video courses; methodology in the form “brainstorming”, “discussion”; research work), using different computer multimedia training programs, the department's website, electronic textbooks, online conferences, webinars and other high-tech tools. Of course, the model of distance learning introduced by higher education recently cannot replace traditional education, where the basic skills are formed in the field of practical improvement of the patient’s examination and treatment, but it can supplement it in the context of blended learning. In case of being properly applied and as a part of blended learning this model can really improve the interaction between a teacher and a student while preparing for the classroom lesson and during the student's independent work. In this case, the importance of independent theoretical training for a practical lesson becomes crucial with the growth of the motivational component in the conditions of organized interaction and control of academic performance making it possible to increase the volume of practical work with patients in the classroom. Conclusion. Using traditional, interactive and high-tech methods that complement each other in blended learning, the application of an integrated approach helps to improve the quality and effectiveness of education, expands the ability to form the experience of the student's creative and innovative activities which ultimately affects the future doctor’s competence

The study of the role of Moodle software among medical students is relevant, as distance learning is now new in terms of learning, processing, and teaching educational material online. The representation of new (latest) informative data using Moodle during distance learning contributes to and increases the level of students' knowledge. Moodle software is a valuable resource that presents an archive of educational (scientific) materials to students and teachers with unlimited access. The study is aimed at determining the role of Moodle for medical students during distance learning based on a theoretical review of the literature. Three stages of methodological justification were proposed as the basis for this study. At the first stage of the study, Moodle software was characterised; during the second – the role of distance learning was defined; third – the quality of medical students' training during distance learning through the use of innovative technologies, namely Moodle, was assessed. The study substantiates the significant role of Moodle and distance learning: understanding the goals of learning, gaining a significant “baggage” of knowledge, the latest information and access to resources, self-learning, self-improvement, and development of a “doctor” personality. The expediency of using the software among medical students is proved, taking into account the structure, logic, constant updating of materials, direct assessment of the student using test tasks and practical classes. Using Moodle software during distance learning, a medical student independently and consciously focuses on pathology based on the acquired knowledge, clearly and reasonably makes a preliminary conclusion (diagnosis) with subsequent appropriate treatment. The combined use of Moodle software and highly qualified teachers improve the quality of education and guide the medical student to focus on the study material and improve one’s practical skills with the presented materials and visual aids

Student research activity is one of the most important forms of the education and the driving force of quality assurance activities. Ukraine has developed a regulatory and legal framework that ensures high-quality research work, which should meet the needs of future specialists in intellectual and professional development and increase their professional competence. The involvement in research work requires, first of all, gaining deep theoretical and practical knowledge in medicine, well-designed extra-curricular activities to guide students in their mastering methodology of scientific research and developing research skills, and university promotion. The experience of Poltava State Medical University convincingly proves that the most effective means of improving the quality of training is the regular active involvement of students in research activity. The role of scientific knowledge in higher education is decisive, since the active participation of the teaching staff in fostering research skills makes it possible to demonstrate the latest scientific achievements and their practical application. Structured research activities, woven into the medical school curriculum provide an opportunity to evince the intellectual potential of both students and educators, to contribute to deeper investigation of medical problems, to master the methods of scientific investigation, and to realize the importance of such activity in increasing one's competitiveness in the labour market. This approach also contributes to better comprehension of professional information, to develop mindset associated with high professionalism. Pathophysiology as a discipline is at the junction of theoretical and clinical disciplines that serves as a wide background to meet the diversity of students’ scientific demands and interests. Involving students into structured research activities not only promotes gaining special knowledge, but also builds up ethical and deontological foundations of future successful medical research career; enhances team spirit and cooperation between students and educators. This interaction enables in clearly stating their focus and research question, engaging in an adequate critical discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the study methods, and offering conclusions that are properly qualified in the scope given the evidence gathered and analyzed. This department is proud to maintain a high university rank on student research results performance among the non-clinical departments. The culmination of knowledge in this developmental trajectory can reinforced and extend other aspects of high quality training.
