Strengthening character education through planting multicultural values into the basic values of culture and national character. The culture and character education of this nation can be developed from the religious values and ideology of the Indonesian nation which are formulated in the goals of national education. Character is the main key to developing quality resources. That way the character must be formed as early as possible.

The objectives of national education are realizing the fair and prosper society in term of material and spiritual based on the value of Pancasila, in which the main point is developing Indonesian citizens wholly. One of the most important components of Indonesian citizens is children, because they are the owner of the nation’s future. Thus, it could be said that the implantation of self-concept, moral, and religious values should be started earlier, so that it would be strongly implanted on Indonesian children. One of the methods is storytelling with woman heroes and public figures, whether they are from Indonesia or Islamic history. The consideration in choosing the woman heroes and public figures is as a form of moral education, introducing Islamic religious values, as well as gender education on children. This becomes important because of Indonesian’s social life which is full of various religions, cultures, tribes, race or ethnics, social status and others. Education system constitutes an important stage in growing, developing, and strengthening the character of younger generation. This means that the objectives of education at the institutional level (school) can be a representation of the goals of national education that covers character education. The study aimed to describe the implementation of the curriculum of local Islamic content through curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular programs at SMP (Sekolah Menengah Pertama/junior high school) Al-Amanah Cileunyi to shape the character of students in accordance with Islamic morals. This study applied a naturalistic qualitative approach. The approach is used due to the problems that are currently occurring naturally at the present time, namely student character education at SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi. The research finding showed that  SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi has a local Islamic content curriculum, both as a subject matter and an extra-curricular activity, Islamic local content that applies at SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi featuring character values that are originated from the Islamic teachings, and eighteen national character values as determined by the government, and the implementation of Islamic local content is through the activities of self-development, habituation, extra-curricular, exemplary, and the integration of character education within learning process. However, there are some problems encountered in its implementation, among others due to inconsistent attitudes of school community and the gap between character education programs and their implementation. The result of character education through the implementation of Islamic local content is shown by the qualitative scores in the report book, and the increasing trust of parents and the community to SMP Al-Amanah Cileunyi.

<p><em>Pancasila education is a group of general compulsory courses (MKWU) taught in universities with the aim that students have the character of the Indonesian nation. Building national character is part of the goals of national education which must be carried out continuously at various levels of educational units. This study aims to identify the implementation of character education in higher education through a case study learning model in the Pancasila education course. In the learning process, Pancasila lecturers must be creative in using learning models so that Pancasila values are embedded so that they become student attitudes and characters. Through the case study learning model, the goal of Pancasila education to shape student character is expected to be achieved effectively. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The research method by collecting and recording detailed data from various problems related to the object of research is then analyzed comprehensively. The results showed that; 1) the case study learning model can improve the cognitive aspects of students towards the values of Pancasila. 2) The case study learning model can improve the student's perspective on the values of Pancasila. 3) The case study learning model can internalize the values of Pancasila into student attitudes and character.</em><em></em></p>

This article describes model of strengthening the national character values with the Sufism approach in the traditional Madurese Muslim community who has a sectarian and static mindset through the Majlis Maulid wa al-Ta’lim Riyadlul Jannah Madura activities. The strengthening of the national character is based on Islamic teachings which normatively emphasize the ritual and social dimensions. This Majlis builds religious values, love for the country, the spirit of nationality, tolerance, and social care. The pattern of strengthening with the Sufism approach is carried out through the reading of <em>Maulid Simth ad-Durar</em>, <em>shalawat</em>, and <em>qashidah</em> with national character values, <em>mauizhah hasanah</em>, and <em>riyad</em><em>lah</em> through safari maulid in 40 nights and <em>qiyam al-lail</em> on the last 15 nights of Ramadan. The strengthening of the national character runs optimally influenced by the power of prayer, humility (<em>tawad</em><em>lu’</em>) of the Majlis leaders, hospitality, and noble morals in every Majlis activities.

Character education in Indonesia has become a necessity that can not be negotiable. Various cases of crime and moral deviations become evident that the character of most citizens already at alarming stage. Therefore, since the beginning, national education is not only aimed at generating human intelligent and skilled, but also of noble character. This is realized through the introduction of 18 characters excel in school (religious, honest, disciplined, tolerance, and so on). In the Islamic perspective character education paired with akhlak (Islamic ethics) education. Among the important characteristics are: it sourced from the Quran Hadith; Prophet Muhammad as a role model; priority-based methods of mental-spiritual (soul management, habituation, exemplary, and healthy environment); are simultaneous in which three education centers, namely schools, families, and communities should play a role in synergy. The government and the mass media also play a role in supporting the education of character. Pendidikan karakter di Indonesia telah menjadi kebutuhan yang tidak dapat ditawar. Berbagai kasus kejahatan moral dan penyimpangan menjadi jelas bahwa karakter sebagian besar warga sudah pada tahap mengkhawatirkan. Oleh karena itu, sejak awal, pendidikan nasional tidak hanya bertujuan menghasilkan manusia cerdas dan terampil, tetapi juga karakter yang mulia. Hal ini diwujudkan melalui pengenalan 18 karakter berprestasi di sekolah (agama, jujur, disiplin, tolerann, dan sebagainya). Dalam pendidikan karakter perspektif Islam dipasangkan dengan pendidikan akhlak (etika Islam). Di antara karakteristik penting adalah: itu bersumber dari al-Quran Hadis; Nabi Muhammad sebagai panutan; metode berbasis prioritas mental-spiritual (manajemen jiwa, pembiasaan, keteladanan, dan lingkungan yang sehat); yang simultan di mana tiga pusat pendidikan, yaitu sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat harus berperan dalam sinergi. Pemerintah dan media massa juga berperan dalam mendukung pendidikan karakter.

Character education has become an important part of the national education system for character education has been positioned to be one step for curing social illness. However,it is still asked about what the content and process that will be done by the leaders of educational character of this nation. The moral values which are to be developed in the educational character of the nation of Indonesia consist of religious values, cultural values, and the values of Pancasila. Those are character educations which can be regarded as an authentic or specific character education in Indonesia.Pendidikan karakter telah menjadi bagian penting dari sistem pendidikan nasional karena pendidikan karakter telah diposisikan menjadi salah satu langkah untuk menyembuhkan penyakit sosial. Namun demikian, masih perlu dipertanyakan apa sesunggunya isi dan proses, yang hendak dijalankan oleh para pemimpin pendidikan karakter bangsa ini. Nilai ideal yang dikembangkan dalam pendidikan karakter Indonesia terdiri dari nilai agama, budaya dan nilai yang terkandung dalam Pancasila. Pendidikan karakter yang seperti itulah yang bisa dikatakan sebagai susuatu yang otentik atau khas pendidikan karakter Indonesia.

Realizing the character building on students is a national education goal. The character education is very important for the students. Therefore, the socialization and enculturation of national character education in schools by using an effective and efficient method are needed. This study aims to understand the process of socialization of character education in elementary school, to find the effective way of socialization models of national character education for students in elementary school through comics, and to determine the impact of socialization models of national character education for students in elementary school through the comic for the character building of students. This research was conducted using qualitative methods (Research & Development). The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. The results show that the socialization of the nations character education in primary schools is done in several ways; integrated with in the curriculum through the school management, and through extracurricular programs. Those ways do not seem to produce maximum results. Socialization model of the national character of education in the elementary schools through the comic is more effective to apply, because students are more interested in the visualization of interesting and familiar images.Menyadari pembangunan karakter siswa adalah tujuan pendidikan nasional. Pendidikan karakter sangat penting bagi para siswa. Oleh karena itu, sosialisasi dan enkulturasi pendidikan karakter bangsa di sekolah-sekolah dengan menggunakan metode yang efektif dan efisien diperlukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami proses sosialisasi pendidikan karakter di sekolah dasar, untuk menemukan cara yang efektif untuk model sosialisasi pendidikan karakter bangsa bagi siswa di sekolah dasar melalui komik, dan untuk menentukan dampak dari model sosialisasi pendidikan karakter bangsa bagi siswa di sekolah dasar melalui komik untuk membangun karakter siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif (Research & Development). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sosialisasi pendidikan karakter bangsa di sekolah dasar ini dilakukan dengan beberapa cara, terintegrasi dengan subjek termasuk, melalui manajemen sekolah, dan melalui program ekstrakurikuler. Mereka cara tampaknya tidak menghasilkan hasil yang maksimal. Model Sosialisasi karakter nasional pendidikan di sekolah dasar melalui komik lebih efektif untuk diterapkan, karena siswa lebih tertarik pada visualisasi gambar yang menarik dan akrab.

Abstract: It is in need of a right concept that is in accordance with the level of child development, more specifically the concept that is able to shape the child into a Muslim person. The concept of character education in the frame of religious values a purposeful step that can be used as a form of response in facing the challenges of the times. In order to realize a generation that has a strong character, faith and Islam, it is necessary to instill personality values to children. Therefore we need the concept of character education in children. Based on Abdullah Nashih Ulwan's perspective described in this research, it could be concluded that the most influential concept of character education is education by example, education through habituation, education through advice, education through attention and education through punishment.Keywords: Character Education, National Education, Abdullah Nasih Ulwan

Currently, Indonesia's national education is still facing various problems. Achievement of educational outcomes still do not meet the expected results. Learning in schools has not been able to fully shape the personality of graduates who reflect the character and culture. The educational process still focuses and focuses on cognitive achievements. Meanwhile, the affective aspect of students which is a strong provision for living in society has not been developed in schools. Schools as centers of change need to seriously seek education based on the character and culture of the nation. National character and culture developed in schools must be aligned with local, regional and national character and culture. For this reason, character education and national culture need to be developed based on local wisdom.

Character education is a vital instrument in determining the progress of a nation. Therefore the government needs to build educational institutions in order to produce good human resources that are ready to oversee and deliver the nation at a progressive level. It’s just that in reality, national education is not in line with the ideals of national education because the output is not in tune with moral values on the one hand and the potential for individuals to compete in world intellectual order on the other hand. Therefore, as a solution to these problems is the need for the applicationof character education from an early age.
