Abstract The aim of this study is to investigate how the city is influenced by the ritual of Muharram. The main research question is: what is the relationship between the city and the ritual of Muharram? To answer this question, we examined different intangible layers of this ritual heritage. This study is based on the three components of the sense of place. The research method is qualitative and a context-oriented approach is adopted. The context of the study is the historical texture of the city of Gorgan, Iran. The data were collected through library research and immediate observation. Next, content analysis and data coding were used to obtain a set of thematic categories. The results suggest that, as a kind of ritual-social behavior, the ritual of Muharram has had remarkable, enduring effects on the city over centuries. The non-urban-development dimension has thus allowed for the formation of sense of place in the relationship between people and the urban environment through a different process.

This research method is descriptive qualitative, with the Ushul Fiqh approach. Collecting data through documentation and library research, using sources related to the main research problem, both primary and secondary sources with philosophical, juridical, and logical approaches, and content analysis techniques. As a result, the panel of judges gave its decision based on the fact that their marriage could be carried out immediately because the applicants were consensual and always together, and there was a concern that unwanted things would happen in religion or the law. The reasons for parents to marry off their children at a young age (under 19 years) are due to cultural factors, releasing the burden on parents, and because they are pregnant outside of marriage. From the view of maslahah, this dispensation of marriage does not bring benefit, but rather brings harm. Because the impact after marriage, it turns out that one of them always quarrels in his household so he doesn’t live together anymore. And one other even though they still live together, but their lives are very deprived and unworthy.

Abstract Along with mastery of the grammar and vocabulary of a given language, contemporary students are also expected to acquire intercultural communicative competence (ICC), i.e., the ability to use the language efficiently with regard to the sociocultural background of the communicative situation. This requirement should also be reflected in FL course-books, which are considered to be fundamental didactic tools in FL education, even in an era of information communication technologies. Therefore, the aim of the present paper is to report the results of the research focused on the investigation of intercultural component in the New Opportunities Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate course-book packages. To validate the findings of the content analysis, as the main research method, the method of triangulation was used, i.e., the results of the course-book package analyses were compared with those of observation and interview analyses. Descriptive statistics were followed by an analysis of the relationships between variables and the content analysis of semi-structured interviews. Results: A feeling of happiness was described by 64% of participants and confirmed by a happiness scale score of 50%. Participants who felt satisfied with their life were 4.5-fold more likely to feel happy (p = 0.021). Expectations for the future were not associated with happiness or satisfaction with life. Content analysis of interviews revealed three main themes: conditions for happiness, own happiness/unhappiness, and self-esteem. Conclusions: Many homeless people describe themselves as feeling happy and satisfied with their life. Material aspects, affective situations, daily life concerns, and self-esteem predominate in their discourse on happiness.

This study examines Hamka's political thinking about Islam and the State in the Basic State debate that took place in the Constituent Assembly 1956-1959. Hamka belongs to the basic group of defenders of the Islamic state with Mohammad Natsir in the Masyumi faction, fighting for Islamic law before other factions namely the Nationalists, Communists, Socialists, Catholics-Protestants and members of the Constituent Assembly who are not fractured. Specifically examines the issue of why Islam is fought for as a state basis by Hamka. and how Hamka thought about the relationship between Islam and the state. The research method used is a type of library research with literature studies or documents consisting of primary and secondary data and reinforced by interviews. The theory used in this study is the theory of religious relations (Islam) and the state. This study found the first, according to Hamka, the Islamic struggle as the basis of the state was as a continuation of the historical ideals of the Indonesian national movement. The second was found that the constituent debate was the repetition of Islamic and nationalist ideological debates in the formulation of the Jakarta Charter. Third, this study also found Hamka's view that the One and Only God Almighty means Tauhid or the concept of the Essence of Allah SWT. The implication of this research theory is to strengthen Islamic thinking legally formally, that is thinking that requires Islam formally plays a major role in state life. The conclusion is that Indonesian society is a heterogeneous society in terms of religion. This means that constitutionally the state recognizes the diversity of religions embraced by the Indonesian people and guarantees the freedom of every individual to embrace religion and realize the teachings he believes in all aspects of life. Hamka in the Constituent Assembly stated that the struggle to establish a state based on Islam rather than a secular state for Islamic groups was a continuation of the ideals of historical will.

We adopt a multi-theoretic approach to investigate a previously unexplored phenomenon in extant literature, namely the differential impact of ownership identity and director dominate shareholding on the performance of emerging market firms. The main research question addressed is, whether the impact of this relationship is conditional on the identity of the block investor. First, the relationship between overall block ownership and firm performance is tested by employing multiple regressions on 500 firm-year observations for the period from 2007 to 2011. Then, the block ownership is classified as the state, individuals, insiders, financial institutions, corporate and foreign investors and the influence of these identities on firm performance is examined. It was found that only the ownership categories such as the government, institutions and foreign ownership have positive influence on the firm performance. The results also indicate that high level of insider ownership also negatively associated with the firm performance. The main contribution of this paper is the examination of the relationship between block ownership and firm performance from the perspective of the identity of investors

The rise of buildings in the city of Bandung is a symbol of the development of the city of Bandung itself, but the development of a city must of course refer to the existing rules. The existence of buildings whose utilization is often found to be inconsistent with IMB, in other words, there is a mismatch between SLF and IMB which of course raises problems regarding the use of building functions that are not in accordance with existing building permits. Identification of the problem in this thesis research is how the legal arrangements regarding SLF for buildings are in the presence of an IMB and how is the SLF for buildings that are not used in accordance with the IMB. The research method uses the normative juridical method, which is carried out using library research and field research conducted at institutions related to the issue of building function worthiness certificates in the city of Bandung in relation to building permits. The conclusion obtained in this study is the legal arrangement regarding SLF for buildings in the presence of an IMB which is basically the existence of an SLF located or based on an IMB. SLF is a provision for the use of buildings, while IMB is the legality of the existence of buildings, problems regarding the incompatibility between IMB and SLF can be studied from 3 main subjects of the existence of SLF namely government, society and the rule of law, but what is fundamental is the absence of legal rules regarding specific implementation instructions in The City of Bandung regulates SLF, so that SLF in Bandung City has not been able to run well. SLF of buildings whose utilization is not in accordance with the IMB has the consequence that the use of the SLF that should be in accordance with the IMB must be adjusted to the provisions contained in the IMB.
