The general objective of the research presented in this article was to explore the attention to the diversity of students in kindergartens, and primary and high schools in the Region of Murcia (southeast of Spain). This study adopted a methodology of a quantitative nature. The instrument used to collect the data was the Themis Inclusion Tool (Azorín and Ainscow, 2018), which is a Likert scale aimed at teachers formed by three dimensions: contexts, resources and processes. Themis was administered to 545 teachers from 38 schools. This allowed knowing a series of strengths and weaknesses and diagnosing the profile of the schools (barely inclusive, towards inclusion and inclusive), and verifying statistically significant differences according to the variables studied (type of school, location and school stage). According to the results, the strengths focused on the process dimension, making reference to the teaching work, while the weaknesses were found in the contexts dimension, highlighting the scarce commitment between the schools and their communities. Differences were also found according to the type of school and the school stage. Finally, the predominant profile was “towards inclusion”. Therefore, the conclusions pointed to the need to continue working for the development of more inclusive practices in schools.

This study introduces a measure for school burnout and examines its validity and reliability among students in upper secondary high schools and vocational schools by using confirmatory factor analysis. School-related burnout comprises three dimensions: (a) exhaustion at school, (b) cynicism toward the meaning of school, and (c) sense of inadequacy at school. A total of 1418 (709 girls, 709 boys) adolescents from 13 postcomprehensive schools (6 upper secondary high schools, 7 vocational schools) filled in a questionnaire concerning their school burnout and background variables. The results showed that the three-factor solution, compared to one- or two-factor solutions, fit the data best and also gave the best reliability indices. The three theoretically-derived dimensions of school burnout were closely related but separate constructs. Finally, concurrent validity for the School-Burnout Inventory (SBI) was found when the correlations of depressive symptoms, school engagement, and academic achievement with each of the three dimensions of school burnout were examined: The more depressive symptoms adolescents suffered, the more exhaustion, cynicism, and inadequacy they reported; and the lower their academic achievement and school engagement, the more cynicism and inadequacy they reported.

This work studied the entrepreneurial aspirations of 3,987 adolescents regarding self-employment and the influence of gender, age, nationality, type of school, location of the school, educational level and performance. The Logit model is used to analyze the data. The results indicate that the pupils’ aspirations to be self-employed increase in the case of foreigners, of studying in a state school, of having a lower educational level and of demonstrating a low academic performance. The results were not statistically significant for the gender and age variables. The curriculum and guidance programmes need to promote a spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity in young people.

This study was carried out to determine teacher views on the use of technology to improve physics education in high schools. The sample of the study is 238 volunteer physics teachers. The study was carried out with the survey model and a five point Likert Scale was used in the study. The scale has a reliability coefficient of 0.92. Descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were used to analyze the data obtained from the scale. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that teachers strongly agreed with all six of the articles except one of the views within the dimension "suggestions on teacher competence and technology-based subject discourse" and with only one out of the five articles within the dimension "recommendations for performing technology-assisted laboratory activities." In addition, it has been determined that significant change in teachers’ views did not occur regarding the use of technology to improve physics education according to different individual characteristics. However, it has been determined that there is a significant positive difference with those in high need of professional development.

The current study investigated teachers’ efficacy for inclusive practices (TEIP) in public schools in the Sultanate of Oman, exploring the effect of teacher gender and years of experience. The TEIP scale was administered to teachers in Oman. Participants included 287 basic school teachers selected from schools identified as embracing and implementing inclusive practices in the capital and largest city of Oman. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the three-factor model of the Arabic version of the TEIP scale. Omani teachers showed high levels on TEIP three dimensions and general construct. Gender differences were found in TEIP general factor, efficacy in using inclusive instruction (EII), and efficacy in collaboration favoring female teachers, whereas no gender differences were found in efficacy in managing behavior. Novice and experienced teachers reported higher TEIP in efficacy in collaboration compared to teachers with moderate experience, whereas experienced teachers and teachers with moderate teaching experience reported higher TEIP compared to novice teachers. Implications of the study results are discussed in relation to the development of inclusive practices in Oman.

Competition in education requires the private schools to compete with public schools since they have been as the second choice. As the second choice, most private schools have been in failure to recruit talented and intelligent intake students. This article describes the efforts of private schools as the second choice, to face the competition with other public schools for its survival. This study used grounded theory method by taking 10 private high schools and located in Banyumas district. This district is chosen because the number of private schools is increased almost significantly. Data was collected using observation, interview, and documentation. The result of the study showed that strategies used by this type of school include among others, strategically promote themself to a potential junior high school, choose a low economic and low academic students as their main targets, and offering low-cost education, if possible, offering free cost education for low economic students.

Scores on burnout among 631 Canadian and 1,180 Dutch teachers were compared with various demographic variables (sex and age) and factors related to work (experience in teaching, type of school, and number of hours employed). Burnout was assessed with the Maslach Burnout Inventory of three dimensions, Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization, and Personal Accomplishment. Analysis indicated that, over-all, Canadian teachers reported higher scores on Emotional Exhaustion and Depersonalization than their Dutch peers. Differences in the number of hours employed were also significant: full-time Canadian teachers scored higher on Depersonalization than their Dutch colleagues. Across countries, sex and type of school appeared significantly related to burnout. Male teachers rated higher on Emotional Exhaustion and Depersonalization than the women. Especially with regard to the attitudinal components of burnout, i.e., Depersonalization and Personal Accomplishment, secondary school teachers reported higher scores than elementary school teachers. Age was not significantly related to measures.
