Abstrak Relasi Antarteks dalam Pengkajian Sastra. Relasi antarteks terdapat dalam karya sastra yang di dalamnya membayangkan teks lain. Dalam mengkaji teks demikian, kita biasanya langsung mengkaitkannya dengan konsep intertekstual, padahal konsep tersebut berkaitan dengan teori pascastruktural sehingga dalam pengkajiannya, kita harus mengikuti prinsip-prinsip pascastrukturalisme. Relasi teks juga mensyaratkan kita untuk melakukan kajian bandingan, yang dalam kajian sastra dapat menggunakan konsep sastra bandingan. Kajian sastra bandingan tidak berkaitan dengan salah satu teori. Bahkan, teori apapum dapat dimanfaatkan untuk kepentingan sastra bandingan. Sehubungan dengan relasi teks dalam dunia sastra merupakan fenomena menarik, kemungkinan banyak pihak atau peneliti yang tertarik untuk mengkajinya. Oleh sebab itu, diperlukan landasan teori sastra yang kukuh dan relevan sehingga menghsilkan kajian sastra yang bermakna dengan kadar ilmiah yang dapat dipertanggungjawabkan. Penegasan ciri pembeda antara prinsip kajian sastra bandingan dan prinsip kajian intertekstual dalam tulisan ini merupakan upaya ke arah pengkajian sastra yang demikian.Kata kunci: teks, intertekstual, pascastruktural, sastra bandingan   Abstract Inter-textual Relation in Literary Studies. Inter-texts relation exista in literary works; one work shadows the other. In studying such texts we often immediately link them with the concept of intertextuality that belongs to post-structuralism. Texts relation also requires us to compare literary works using comparative literary study concepts. Comparative literary studies are not related with one specific theory. Any theory can be employed. Texts relation is an iteresting phenomenon that invites many to investigate. For this reason we need a grounded and relevant literary theory that will facilitate insightful and reliable literary studies. The difference between comparative literature principles and inter-textual studies principles are discussed in the article. Keywords: texts, intertextuality, post-structuralism, comparative literature.

Abstract: This research is a comparative literary study that uses Malay and Javanese versions of Mahabarata text sources. The research objects used were the text edition of Pandhawa Gubah (PG) by Sudibjo Z. Hadisutjipto and the text of Cheritera Pandawa Lima (CPL) by Khalid Hussain. The research method used is descriptive-analysis method. In the comparative study used a comparative literary theory proposed by Endraswara (2011). The results of the text comparison reveal the similarities and differences in the image of Bima figures in the Javanese and Malay versions. The equation as a whole is that both texts contain the same heroic storyline and heroic character, Bima. In addition, Indian influence is still evident in the two texts seen from the nuances of Hinduism that exist in both texts. While the difference is seen in the events that accompany Bima's struggle in achieving his victory. Based on these similarities and differences, it can be seen that the authors attempt to represent the concept of metaphysical interactions vertically and horizontally expressed through PG text. --- Abstrak: Penelitian ini adalah satu kajian sastra bandingan yang menggunakan sumber teks Mahabarata versi Melayu dan Jawa. Objek penelitian yang digunakan adalah edisi teks Pandhawa Gubah (PG) karya Sudibjo Z. Hadisutjipto dan teks Cheritera Pandawa Lima (CPL) karya Khalid Hussain. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif-analisis. Dalam telaah perbandingan digunakan teori sastra bandingan yang dikemukakan Endraswara (2011). Hasil perbandingan teks mengungkapkan adanya persamaan dan perbedaan citra tokoh Bima dalam versi Jawa maupun versi Melayu. Persamaan secara keseluruhan adalah kedua teks tersebut mengandung alur cerita kepahlawanan dan tokoh pahlawan yang sama yaitu Bima. Selain itu, pengaruh India masih tampak dalam kedua teks tersebut dilihat dari nuansa Hinduisme yang ada dalam kedua teks. Sementara perbedaannya tampak pada peristiwa-peristiwa yang menyertai perjuangan Bima dalam mencapai kemenangannya. Berdasarkan persamaan dan perbedaan tersebut tampak adanya upaya penulis untuk merepresentasikan konsep interaksi metafisik secara vertikal dan horizontal yang diungkapkan melalui teks PG.

Literary studies can not be separated from the literary theory initiated and developed by “Western” scholars. Indonesian Literature also refers to these theories in interpreting and explaining literary works. This paper intends to ask the historical contextuality and the theoretical independence of Indonesian literature as a nation that has a historicity different from the West. The main offer in this paper is the importance of a theory called the theory of harmony-constitution. The important objectives of the theoretical point of view of the theory of harmony-the constitution are 1) all efforts to build an independent society and social justice, 2) a happy and safe condition, and hence the freedom that has been achieved should always encourage unity, sovereignty and prosperity, and 3) the acknowledgment “on the blessings of almighty God and by the noble driven.” Methodologically, the theory of harmony-constitution is based on semantics. This theory can be used to analyze social and cultural issues, but in the case of this paper will be tested to study literary works, especially the poetry of Chairil Anwar.

Abstract This article concerns itself with Gérard Genette’s reception in Germanophone literary study. Through an analysis of the rhetorical substrate from which Genette’s terminology draws its specific tension, the article determines that Genette is not only an excessive systematist, but also and simultaneously an author who battles received attempts at order and who foregrounds doubts about the idea of order. In this way, he displays a kinship with such theorists as Roland Barthes and Jacques Derrida. The receptions of the rhetorical construction of Genette’s texts and of the particular strategies of structuralism to which that construction refers did not occur synchronously in French, American, Russian, and German literary studies. The article demonstrates that, while German literary theory occasionally discusses Genette’s positioning within the field, there remains a general absence of the recognition that practically all of his books display a definite proximity to deconstruction, and that this proximity plays a central role in Genette’s enire theoretical edifice. This text is, last but not least, a call to read literary-theoretical texts in their aesthetic contexts.

Ever since the mid-twentieth century, there has been a prevailing tendency of eliminating the author’s existence in his or her text, as well as the existence of his or her intention. The practice of negating the meaning of the author’s intention and thereby imposing arbitrary interpretations on the text to serve the critic’s own interpretive purpose, has led contemporary literary hermeneutics onto the wrong road of relativism and nihilism. It is sensible for us to identify an impact of scientism on such a hermeneutic tendency. However, no matter how we try to deny and dissolve the author’s intention, its being in the text is a hard fact that always determines the text’s quality and value and influences the readers’ understanding and interpretation. The author’s intention runs through the whole process of the text’s creation, displaying itself in all the plans and designs of the text, such as its language, structure and style. It is a false question to ask whether intention exists in literary creation, and the idea that the other person can be totally independent of the author’s intention to assert the meanings or significance of the text will finally lead us to nowhere but sheer subjective imagination. Any serious and responsible critic must research in depth to first bring out the author’s intention, and then bring out the text’s historical and social milieus. This is the foundational step towards fair and justified interpretation of the text. Since literary works are the objectification of the authors’ thoughts and mind power, we, whatever theories we are interested in, should give the author and his or her intention due respect. This is undoubtedly a scientific attitude toward literary studies.

Abstract By way of a brief genealogy of the Jewish American literary field and through the lens of recent attempts to imagine how comparative literature-based thinking about a concept of “world literature” can be critically productive for Jewish literary study, this article analyzes Jewish American literary studies’ prestige problem. Because it has persistently failed to theorize the intellectual and methodological assumptions underlying its practice, Jewish American literary study remains burdened by the essentialist implications of an ethnological historicism. This article ultimately argues that Jewish American literary study needs to take more seriously the possibilities offered by a materialist epistemology rather than the Jewish studies-based historicist ontology it has mostly taken for granted. “My hope is that a Jewish American epistemology can operate outside the penumbra of a tired and played-out concept of ethnicity—a term that unavoidably, if spectrally, posits a biologistic object at the heart of its historicist project—even as it might still claim the mantle of Jewish-y-ness.”

Nowadays, human beings’ relationships take many forms. People are either parents, friends, colleagues, partners, lovers etc. As far as lovers are concerned, we sometimes observe excesses in their interactions. However, not everybody experiences love in the same way. Love, for some is joy, happiness while other people regard it as source of problems and sufferance. In Corneille’s Le Cid, Rodrigue and Chimène are paralyzed by love and suffering, while Romeo and Juliette get to the capital sacrifice for their intensive and polemical love affair in Shakespeare’s Romeo in Juliette.  This study aims at exploring the concept of obsessive love and its consequences through the characters of Graham Green’s The End of the Affair. To succeed in this study apart from books on the selected topic, I have used psychoanalysis as literary theory to access the issue. I examined the difference between obsessive love and true love. Of the results I came up with I can briefly say but a few that obsession can be destructive namely for the obsessed. It can also negatively affect the other members of the family tissue. Obsessive love unfortunately often replaces true love. Ways and means are suggested to cope with any sorts of love.

The present work sought to approach the dialogue between the dantesque classic and contemporary brazilian poetry, more specifically with the carioca poet Marco Lucchesi, as a way of bringing the classic and the contemporary, in their familiarities. We use comparative literature as an essential tool in terms of understanding and identifying the resonant points in different works and poets, and the way that literature is transformed or transfigured within multiple views, but that are familiarized with the idea of the human, of restlessness, of search for directions. In this way, we dedicate our attention to the common points between the two literary works studied, going through philosophy, criticism and literary theory, in order to provide an objective and clear discussion between the classic and the contemporary. With this, we tried to discuss the importance of Divine Comedy in contemporary times by comparing it with the work Alma Vênus (2000), by the brazilian poet Marco Lucchesi

<p><strong>Abstract</strong> <strong>:</strong> The Quranic interpretation is an effort to explain the meaning of the Quranic verses. In literary studies, the Quranic interpretative attempt is an interpreter’s reception aestethics towards the Quranic verses. In another side, the interpreter (mufasir) is, during his effort of interpreting the Quran, necessarly influ-enced by the other texts he or she has ever read. The process of the interpreter’s being influenced by the other texts while interpreting the Quran is, in the literary theory, called intertextuality. Di sisi lain, saat menafsirkan ayat-ayat al-Qur’an, mufasir pastilah dipengaruhi oleh teks-teks lain yang pernah menjadi sumber bacaannya. Proses dipengaruhinya mufasir oleh teks bacaan lain saat menafsirkan al-Qur’an ini dalam konteks ilmu-ilmu sastra disebut intertekstualitas. The purpose of this study to describe and reveal the comparation of the independence of female characters in Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s Bumi Manusia and in Bertolt Brecht’s Mutter Courage und Ihre Kinder. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using the comparative literature method. This research will describe and comprehend the comparison of independent female characters in the Pramudya Ananta Toer’s Bumi Manusia and in Brecht’s Mutter Courage und Ihre Kinder by Bertolt Brecht. The results showed that from the comparison of two independent female character in two literary works, namely novel Bumi Manusia and drama Mutter Courage und Ihre Kinder, it can be concluded that there are many similarities of the two independent female characters despite the difference. Equation (affinity) also showed that the two works were created by different authors are also mutually influence. Drama Mutter Courage und Ihre Kinder by Bertolt Brecht created in 1938 possibly affect Bumi Manusia novel created by Pramoedya Ananta Toer in 1975. Moreover, both authors are communist and they created the two literary works while in exile.
