Purpose The purpose of this paper is to assess the effect of delaying first pregnancy in reducing burden of unintended pregnancy (UP) among married adolescent girls in urban slums of Bangladesh. Design/methodology/approach This cross-sectional survey was conducted among 783 married adolescents in five urban slums of Bangladesh during January 2013–January 2014. Findings Half of the respondents’ first pregnancy was reported as unintended. Of the respondents, 58 percent with no school education had experienced UP which was 38 percent among respondents with eight year’s education. Respondents who did not willingly agreed to their marriage experienced more UP (61 percent) than those who were agreed/got married by their own choice (51 percent). Respondents having five years of age difference with their husbands experienced more UP (58 percent) than those with ten years of age difference (46 percent). Respondents aged 14 years at first conception experienced 63 percent UP, while the respondents aged 18 years had 35 percent UP experience. Of the respondents, 66 percent who became pregnant within one year of marriage reported their pregnancy as unintended which was 29 percent among those who delayed their first pregnancy for three years. Originality/value Significant association was observed between pregnancy intention with respondents’ educational status (p=0.03), age difference with husbands (p=0.02), age at first conception (p<0.01) and delaying first pregnancy (p<0.001).

HIGHLIGHT1. Due to Covid-19 pandemics, anxiety among pregnant mothers is increasing and good preparation for childbirth is needed.2. A survey was carried out to find pregnant mothers level of anxiety and preparation for childbirth during the pandemics.3. Most of the pregnant mothers were severely anxious, but most of them also felt prepared for childbirth. No relationship was found between anxiety and preparedness for childbirth. ABSTRACTObjective: Corona Virus (COVID-19) currently occurring in Indonesia greatly affects the health of the entire community, both physically and psychologically. During the pandemic period, social restrictions are required in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus, especially for pregnant women who are vulnerable to infection because of their weak immune system. This causes increased maternal anxiety during pregnancy. Therefore, good preparation for childbirth is needed so that mothers receive sufficient information and receive safe services from exposure to viruses.Materials and Methods: This research used an analytic survey method with a cross sectional approach. Done by distributing closed questions on online questionnaires to pregnant women in Surabaya through social media networks. The sampling technique used simple random sampling and managed to collect a sample of 90 people. Results: This research showed that pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic in Surabaya experienced 13% mild anxiety, 24% moderate anxiety, 63% severe anxiety. Preparation for childbirth during the COVID-19 pandemic in Surabaya was 20% unprepared and 80% ready. Conclusion: There is no relationship between the anxiety experienced by pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic and their preparation for delivery. Pregnant women were worried that they can be exposed to the virus. Therefore, they can prepare for childbirth properly so that they can go through delivery safely and comfortably.

In order to improve therapeutic compliance and prevent antimalarial drug resistance, we conducted this study to evaluate the knowledge of physicians and pharmacists in Kayes on the management of adverse effects of antimalarial drugs. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from July to November 2017 among physicians and pharmacists selected by simple random sampling and practicing in the Kayes region for more than one year. The survey was based on a questionnaire proposed by the national pharmacovigilance center. In addition to a descriptive analysis of the results, a logistic regression analysis was performed to assess potential factors that could be associated with knowledge. Results: Among 151 physicians and pharmacists participated in the study, less than 40% had better knowledge about the management of antimalarial drug adverse events. Physicians and pharmacists working in government facilities were more likely to have better knowledge compared with those working in other facilities (OR=8.38; 95% CI: 2.48-28.30). In addition, pharmacists were more likely to have better knowledge than physicians (OR=3.48; 95% CI: 1.21-12.19). Conclusions: The frequency of good knowledge of the management of adverse drug reactions to antimalarials is insufficient, although membership in government structures and profession seem likely to improve it.

Introduction: Efforts to reduce MMR should be focused on the direct cause of maternal death, which occurs 90% during labor and immediately after delivery, namely bleeding (28%), eclampsia (24%), infection (11%), complications of 8% pueperium, parturition traffic jam 5%, abortion 5%, obstetric trauma 5%, embolism 3%, etc. 11%. Tearing of the birth canal is the second cause after uterine atony. Perineal rupture is influenced by several factors, namely maternal factors, fetal factors and helping factors. The purpose of this study: To determine the relationship of factors that influence the occurrence of rupture of the perineum in the delivery room of RSUD Dr. H. Ibnu Sutowo Baturaja Ogan Komering Ulu Regency in 2016. The research method: using analytic survey method with cross sectionalapproach. The population in this study were all mothers giving birth in the maternity hospital Dr. Ibnu Soetowo for the period January - February 2016. The research sample used the Simple Random Sampling method and found 76 people. The study was conducted at Dr. Ibnu Sutowo Baturaja Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. Data collection through check list. Univariate and bivariate analysis of data processing. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture (p value 0,000), birth distance with perineal rupture event (p value 0,000) and parity with perineumrupture (p value 0.002).
