Aim: to verify how the health team of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) promotes the training of family caregivers of children dependent on technology (CDT); to identify the factors that interfere with family care for CDT in the PICU environment and at home; and to verify the health support system offered in home care to caregivers. Method: This is a qualitative-descriptive study with 14 CDT family caregivers. Thematic Content Analysis was used as a strategy of analysis and Symbolic Interactionism as a theoretical reference. Results: There is a deficiency in terms of caregiver support, disinformation and lack of knowledge related to complex care, and a disjointed and almost non-existent support system among the many factors that influence CDT care. Conclusion: there were gaps in the care setting for CDT, especially in the health education process of caregivers and in the follow-up and monitoring by the public services.

News media presentations of STEM (and particularly science) in various formats have been critiqued for the many ways by which they misrepresent both the facts of the discipline and the practices of the discipline and the researchers in them. Another issue is that the material is presented in a format – basically a one-way transmission – with usually little opportunity for questions by the recipients (i.e., readers, listeners, viewers, etc.) to be addressed when they don’t understand something. One news media format which might allow this dialogic activity is the radio call-in show format which is structured so that the public can ask questions of a “scientist” with the opportunity for follow-up questions to address what are discontinuities in the listener’s understanding. In this paper we document the processes by which listener interests ultimately end up discussed in the radio broadcast and what influences the “science” that is presented on-air. Our analysis reports the ways in which the STEM topics and content are mediated by radio station personnel, often times distorting the factual content available to the public and misrepresenting the practices of the research fields, as they engage in information management practices which are typical of opinion-driven shows (such as those on the topics of politics or sports) which are designed to create controversy and drama to increase ratings.

The realization of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil generated meaningful transformations in the host cities. These transformations brought concerns over the sustainability of a mega-sport event. The present study tried to understand the sustainability resulting from the World Cup in the city of Natal, Brazil, from the perspective of local public managers. This qualitative, descriptive research, whose data were inductively analyzed, used a semi-open interview composed of 24 semi-structured questions in order to obtain information from the public managers at local and state levels and who are linked to the event. As a result, the managers involved concluded that the 2014 World Cup in Natal did not serve sustainability neither leave any sustainable effects. It was also observed that the lack of sustainability was due to the lack of adequate planning and technical projects, as well as to the lack of organization and social participation in the preparation and follow-up of the works and actions necessary for its accomplishment. Among the propositions of new works, there is the recommendation to analyze how the public managers and the normative regulations are dealing with sustainability in the planning and in the projects for the realization of two other mega-sport events, the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia and the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

This research examines the underlying motive of CSR implementation and design, according to maqasid al-sharia. A qualitative descriptive approach was used to obtain primary data through interviews with 5 CSR informants. Secondary data was collected from the public company’s annual report on the IDX in 2019. Data was sampled and examined using purposive and content analysis technique. The results showed that there are 2 motives in CSR, specifically social and economic. Furthermore, the economic motive is more dominant and expects provision of monetary feedback. Consequently, CSR becomes less effective and most programs do not follow the real stakeholders’ needs. The dignity of CSR needs to be regained by implementing maqasid al-sharia dimensions. There are 2 approaches used to implement CSR, including a support system that utilizes pressure. The transcendental approach initiates corporate actors through religious values from maqasid al-sharia, making the implementation more humanist and stakeholder-oriented.

Abstract Introduction: The increase of life expectancy and the decrease in mortality rate have resulted in changes in the epidemiological profile with predominance of non-communicable chronic diseases and global changes in the care system. This scenario has generated increased demands for caregivers, which in Brazilian reality, tends to arise in the family environment. Objective: This study aimed to know and reflect on the caregivers’ profiles of public home care in the city of Goiânia, Goiás. Methods: The data were collected through the application of a caregiver characterization tool and presented descriptively. Results: The caregiver’s profile of this study corroborates the ones described in the specific literature. Most of them are females, married, patient’s spouse or daughter, having health problems, dedicating twelve or more hours to caring and informal exercise of this activity. Conclusion: The results show the significance of family caregivers within the family care and lead to the reflection about this role in the care sphere and the need for public policies that offer a support social network and that are tuned with this reality.

Abstract This presentation discusses the growing influence of family caregiver advocacy and its prospects for impacting policy under the Biden administration, at both the federal and states levels. In particular, it will describe the National Alliance for Caregiving’s 50-state unified strategy for establishing the caregiver support infrastructure that is needed to coordinate efforts and to support caregivers across the nation and the lifespan. Historically, family caregivers have had difficulty acting as effective advocates, given the multiple roles they often play and their widely divergent interests, based on the varying needs of their care recipient and their divergent life circumstances. However, the Biden administration has indicated receptivity to caregiver issues, and the public has become increasingly aware of the caregiver role (in part, due to the pandemic), resulting in improved prospects for policy action at both the state and federal levels. This presentation reviews recent developments and discusses strategies for moving forward.

Health is the basic right for everybody, therefore every citizen is entitled to get the health care. In enforcing the regulation for Jaringan Kesehatan Nasional (National Health Supports), it is heavily influenced by the foreign interests. Economically, this program does not reduce the people’s burdens, on the contrary, it will increase them. This means the health supports in which should place the government as the guarantor of the public health, but the people themselves that should pay for the health care. In the realization of the health support the are elements against the Syariah principles. Indonesian Muslim Religious Leaders (MUI) only say that the BPJS Kesehatan (Sosial Support Institution for Health) does not conform with the syariah. The society is asked to register and continue the participation in the program of Social Supports Institution for Health. The best solution is to enforce the mechanism which is in accordance with the syariah principles. The establishment of BPJS based on syariah has to be carried out in cooperation from the elements of Social Supports Institution (BPJS), Indonesian Muslim Religious (MUI), Financial Institution Authorities, National Social Supports Council, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Finance. Accordingly, the Social Supports Institution for Helath (BPJS Kesehatan) based on syariah principles could be obtained and could became the solution of the polemics in the society.

This essay draws attention to the surprising lack of scholarship on the staging of garden scenes in Shakespeare's oeuvre. In particular, it explores how garden scenes promote collaborative acts of audience agency and present new renditions of the familiar early modern contrast between the public and the private. Too often the mention of Shakespeare's gardens calls to mind literal rather than literary interpretations: the work of garden enthusiasts like Henry Ellacombe, Eleanour Sinclair Rohde, and Caroline Spurgeon, who present their copious gatherings of plant and flower references as proof that Shakespeare was a garden lover, or the many “Shakespeare Gardens” around the world, bringing to life such lists of plant references. This essay instead seeks to locate Shakespeare's garden imagery within a literary tradition more complex than these literalizations of Shakespeare's “flowers” would suggest. To stage a garden during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries signified much more than a personal affinity for the green world; it served as a way of engaging time-honored literary comparisons between poetic forms, methods of audience interaction, and types of media. Through its metaphoric evocation of the commonplace tradition, in which flowers double as textual cuttings to be picked, revised, judged, and displayed, the staged garden offered a way to dramatize the tensions produced by creative practices involving collaborative composition and audience agency.
