The significantly changed conditions of the activity of trade-logistics enterprises place heavy demands on the accuracy of calculation and planning key indicators of competitive potential. The article formulates and solves a scientific problem, which consists in the absence of a unified approach, within which not only the strategic potential of an enterprise is assessed and key indicators of competitive potential are determined, but also a toolkit for calculating values of these indicators in the conditions of fuzzy input data is proposed. It is suggested to determine the key indicators of competitive potential based on the characteristics of the corporate profile that have the potential for temporary competitive advantages with the possibility of increasing their organization, as well as the key weaknesses of the organization. To calculate the values of the key indicators of competitive potential and their planning in the conditions of uncertainty, it is proposed to use fuzzy inference systems. The article presents the results of approbation of the developed methodological approach in a particular trade and logistics company.

Background: Currently, the car, water, railway, air and pipe transports are used for cargo and goods transportation. Each kind of cargo transport has its own specific competitive advantages that provide its most effective application at various stages of logistics chain. The economic efficiency of cargo transportation influences the overall economic efficiency, in particular, the gross domestic product. The quality of economic growth as applied to transport branch and its input to the national economy is relevant, since with the current organisation of different transport modes interaction, there are still high transaction costs. Aim: Study of influence of various modes of transport, including maglev transport, on the economy and economic growth. Methods: Theoretical and empirical. The paper considers the influence of various modes of transport, that operate in the cargo transport sphere, on the countrys economy. The comparison of existing modes of transport with the maglev transport from the point of view of desired effects is made. Results: The maglev transport possesses new properties and advantages, which makes it possible to view is as viable and able to provide a qualitative economic growth and resource-based economy if realised. Conclusion: The most efficient use of resources, the consumption of which should at least not increase and at most decrease, is achieved with the introduction of maglev transport into the transport system, as its economic properties already now excel those of the majority of other types of transport. It is obvious, as to the experts, that in transition to resource-based economy the maglev transport will be major transport for both cargo and passenger transit.

The objective of this chapter is the study of the economical and legal environment in which logistics enterprises operate in Greece. Firstly, there is a presentation of logistics outsourcing and the existing 3PL and 4PL organizational models as well as an analysis of the economical and legal system which influences the operation of logistics ventures in Greece and a presentation of the funding possibilities according to Greek law. An economical sustainability study is being conducted according to the Net Present Value method (NPV), and two types of ventures are studied: an asset based venture, and a non asset based venture. At the end of this chapter, there is a sensitivity analysis with respect to the discount rate that is used in the NPV (Net Present Value) method. The results of this analysis showed that a change of the discount rate has significant consequences on the economics of the project.

Due to synergy effects from transnationalization, corporation gets its own set of global competitive advantages which can be called using the prefix hyper- (which means, first of all, the global measure of these competitive advantages, that is, company’s capacity to make use of them at any regional or world market; secondly, massive opportunities which these advantages provide for company’s strategic and tactical activities; and thirdly, low probability that any small or mid-sized company would be able to get same or similar competitive advantages). Therefore, economic efficiency of any transnational corporation operating in the tourism sector can be viewed from the standpoint of 6H model. To these 6Hs belong: hyper-profit, hyper-competitiveness, hyper-presence, hyper-positioning, hyper-mobility and hyper-prospective. The article will consider all these hyper-advantages of TNCs along with the sources of their origin.

Abstract Logistics service providers offer a whole or partial logistics business service over a certain time period. Between such companies, the effectiveness of specific logistics services can vary. Logistics service providers seek the effective performance of logistics service. The purpose of this paper is to present a new approach for the evaluation of logistics service effectiveness, along with a specific computer system implementing the proposed approach – a sophisticated inference system, an extension of the Mamdani probabilistic fuzzy system. The paper presents specific knowledge concerning the relationships between effectiveness indicators in the form of fuzzy rules which contain marginal and conditional probabilities of fuzzy events. An inference diagram is also shown. A family of Yager's parameterized t-norms is proposed as inference operators. It facilitates the optimization of system parameters and enables flexible adjustment of the system to empirical data. A case study was used to illustrate the new approach for the evaluation of logistics service effectiveness. The approach is demonstrated on logistics services in a logistics company. We deem the analysis of a probabilistic fuzzy knowledge base to be useful for the evaluation of effectiveness of logistics services in a logistics company over a given time period.
