To analyze the clinical effect of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) on patients with limb trauma. Methods: 136 patients with limb trauma received by our hospital from October 2018 to October 2019 were selected as the study objects. According to the random number method, they were divided into two groups, 68 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional dressing change. The study group was treated with VSD to observe the wound healing effect, wound area and complications before and after treatment for 7 days. Result: After 7 days of treatment, the area of wound in the study group was significantly smaller than that in the control group, and the effect of wound treatment in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05); the incidence of complications in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: VSD can effectively repair the wounds of patients with limb trauma, significantly improve the clinical treatment effect, and effectively prevent the occurrence of treatment complications, which is worth promoting.

High-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of pharmacotherapy-resistant depressive disorders (DD). Individual target determination for stimulation can be one of the approaches that can increase the efficiency of the technique. Objective: to compare of the effectiveness and tolerability of standard and personalized rTMS protocols.Patients and methods. The investigation enrolled 30 patients with pharmacotherapy-resistant DD who were pseudo-randomized into two groups matched for age, gender, and episode severity. In the study group, the target was located at a point within the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) with maximum negative functional connectivity of the subgenual cingulate cortex. In the control group, the stimulation point was 5 cm anterior to the primary motor cortex (hand area). All the patients underwent 20 sessions of high-frequency rTMS DLPFC. For clinical evaluation, the investigators used the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the 36-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) questionnaire before and after 10 and 20 rTMS sessions, respectively. Tolerability was assessed using the standardized questionnaires during and within 24 hours after each session. Results and discussion. The study group showed a significant reduction in BDI scores and an increase in the SF-36 (“Mental Health” section) scores after both 10 and 20 rTMS sessions; the control group had those only after 20 sessions. The two groups exhibited no significant differences in the reduction of BDI scores before and after 10 and 20 sessions, respectively. The investigation can be considered to be pilot in searching for algorithms to enhance the efficiency of rTMS DLPFC in pharmacotherapy-resistant depression using the algorithm for personification of target selection. It demonstrated the more rapid onset of a clinical effect in the study group patients. No serious adverse events were reported. The patients had dizziness, headache, and contraction of the facial muscles during the session; headache and mood changes within 24 hours after it. Conclusion. In both groups, rTMS was satisfactorily tolerated and effective; however, personalized target selection accelerated the onset of a clinical effect.

Background/aims Workers engaged in vehicle spray painting are at a risk of developing respiratory problems because of the solvents in the spray paints. Changes in respiratory functions and functional capacities caused by spray painting can be improved with respiratory exercises. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of respiratory exercises on the respiratory functions, functional capacity and quality of life in vehicle spray painters. Methods A total of 70 volunteers with similar characteristics participated in the study. The groups were divided into two groups randomly (35 study group, 35 control group). Respiratory functions (value of forced expiratory volume percentage in 1 second [FEV1]), forced vital capacity percentage [FVC], FEV1/FVC percentage, peak expiratory flow percentage [PEF (%)] and maximum voluntary ventilation percentage [MVV (%)]), functional capacity (6-Minute Walk Test) and quality of life (Short Form Health Survey [SF-36]) were evaluated. The study group undertook supervised breathing exercises 3 days a week for 6 weeks. The same exercises were given to the control group as a home programme. Home programmes were followed up by telephone calls. Evaluations were performed again after 6 weeks. Results In the study group, FEV1 (%) increased more than in the control group (P<0.05). The increase in PEF (%) was similar in both groups (P>0.05). In the study group, FEV1/FVC (%) and MVV (%) were significantly different before and after the intervention (P<0.05), but there was no difference in the control group (P>0.05). There was a greater increase in the study group than in the control group (P<0.05). 6-Minute Walk Test distance (m) before and after the intervention in both groups were similar (P>0.05). Before and after the intervention, a significant difference was found in the vitality and the social function domains of the SF-36 in the study group. In the comparisons of groups, a significant difference was found in the study group in the role-emotional, social function and bodily pain domains of the SF-36 after the intervention (P<0.05). Conclusions Breathing exercises can be recommended for vehicle spray painters to avoid an increase in respiratory resistance and to improve their quality of life.

Research background. Falling is one of the most important problems in the elderly’s mobility disorder, which is most often affected by the loss of balance. It is known that Pilates exercises could help to increase the deep muscle strength, improve posture and proprioception, which affects the improvement of the balance. Objective – to evaluate the effects of Pilates exercises on the elderly’s static and dynamic balance. Methodology. The study population consisted of 20 volunteers, men and women, who were divided into Pilates exercises (n = 10, age 65.1 ± 2.6) and control (n = 10, age 68.6 ± 4.9) groups. The study group participated in Pilates classes 2 times per week for six weeks (session duration 60 minutes). The control group did not participate in any physical activity, but they were physically active as usually in their daily life. The main outcome measures were assessed before and after the intervention. The static balance was assessed by measuring posturographic parameters using the force platform, dynamic balance was measured with the Timed up and Go Test (TUG) and the Four Square Step Test (FSST). Results. The results showed signifcant improvement in static balance of the experimental group after the Pilates exercises during standing tests when the feet were apart, eyes opened and closed and when the feet together with eyes opened, and when the foot was in front of the other foot. The results of the control group did not differ during both tests. The results of both groups did not differ in the static balance tests before and after the study, but after the Pilates exercises, the results of the Pilates group signifcantly differed from the control group test results when the feet were in shoulder line with open eyes. The results of the dynamic balance after Pilates exercises signifcantly improved in both tests in the study group. Before the study, there were not statistically signifcant differences in the dynamic balance results between the groups. Conclusions. Six-week Pilates exercises had a positive effect on the elderly’s static and dynamic balance.Keywords: Pilates training, static balance, dynamic balance.

Objective: To explore the clinical effect of iRoot BP Plus pulpotomy for immediate repair in children with young permanent teeth crown fracture. Methods: From September 2017 to October 2018, 80 children (80 affected teeth) with young permanent teeth crown fracture who treated in the hospital were selected as the research objects. Random number table method was used to divide them into observation and control groups with each group of forty patients (40 affected teeth). The children in the control group were treated with calcium hydroxide resin, while the observation group were treated with iRoot BP Plus for immediate repair. The surgical success rate was compared between the two groups, and the pulp vitality before and after treatment were compared. Results: At 3 months and 6 months after surgery, the success rate of children in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The percentage of children with negative pulp activity in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Immediate repair with iRoot BP Plus pulpotomy in children with young permanent teeth crown fracture has significant clinical effect.

Introduction: Zirconia is considered as an alternative material for the fabrication of implants. Surface roughness of the implant plays a fundamental role in the initial bone formation. The rationale of using 3D optical profilometry in this study was to evaluate the surface roughness of the zirconia implants before and after Ultraviolet (UV) photofunctionalisation. Also, Moreso 3D optical instruments have a better resolution than the mechanical ones like Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Aim: To analyse the surface roughness and topography of zirconia implants after photofunctionalisation using optical profilometry. Materials and Methods: This is an in-vitro study conducted over a period of six months from March 2020 to August 2020. Ten commercially machined Zirconia implants, five each in study and control group, were micro analysed at three different regions (abutment, thread and crest) by optical profilometry. Study group was surface treated by UV radiation for 48 hours. Quantitative morphometric analysis was done between two groups and p-value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The statistical test applied in this study was independent t-test. Results: Scanning micrographs of the study group revealed highest density of summits contributing to increased surface area in the study group. Quantitative analysis of surface roughness showed statistically significant higher mean roughness parameter for photofunctionalised implants in abutment, crest and thread region (p<0.05). Conclusion: Photofunctionalisation is a potentially synergistic technique in producing textured zirconia implants.

Dialysis causes many psycho-social problems in patients with chronic renal failure and decreases their quality of life by increasing their anxiety. We aimed to determine the influence of artistic activities on quality of life and reducing or eliminating dialysis anxiety.Methods. Among 180 hemodialysis patients, 8 patients were randomly selected as a study group and 8 patients as a control group. We performed our theater rehearsals in 16 sessions, two hours per week. State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), STAII and  Social Anxiety Scales (SAS) were employed in both groups before and after the play. Results. The means of the eighth-month SAS fear and avoidance measures of the study group were found to be significantly lower than the control group and significantly lower than the baseline. The mean difference of the initial eighth-month SAS fear and avoidance in the study group was statistically significantly higher than the control group.Initial and eighth month SAS fear and avoidance difference averages of the study group were found statistically significantly higher than the control group.Conclusions. We determined that the therapies to be done with art have an important place in relieving or reducing anxiety in hemodialysis patients. In addition, it was the opinion that our patients would make positive contributions to their quality of life. However, further studies are needed to demonstrate whether theater rehearsals reduce anxiety in hemodialysis patients.

Objective: To discuss and analyze the clinical effect of auricular point sticking in lung cancer chemotherapy. Methods: Sixty-two patients with lung cancer treated with chemotherapy in Suqian Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Jiangxi Province were selected for case evaluation and analysis. The time span of the research was from June 2020 to June 2021. The patients were divided into two groups: a study group (n = 31) and a control group (n = 31) based on their medical record numbers. All the patients were treated with conventional western medicine before and after chemotherapy to prevent adverse reactions; however, the patients in the study group were also treated with auricular point sticking in addition to the former. The relevant indexes of the two groups were compared. Results: The incidence of adverse reactions was significantly lower in the study group compared to the control group (P < 0.05); the rate of symptomatic relief of the patients in the study group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05); the stress response indexes toward chemotherapy of the study group were better than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Auricular point sticking for patients with lung cancer who are receiving chemotherapy can reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, alleviate clinical symptoms, such as chest distress, asthma, and poor appetite, significantly alleviate stress response caused by chemotherapy, as well as promote the treatment effect; thus, it is worthy of promotion.

Burns are serious life-threatening health problems. This study was performed to determine the effect of educated platelets on burn wound healing process. 28 female wistar albino 200-220 gr rats were randomly divided into four groups. Group A1 rats(n:7) were the first-line burnt group from which blood samples are extracted to develop platelet-rich plasma(PRP) with the educated platelets that have a response to burn injury. Group B1 rats(n:7) were the unburnt group with ordinary platelets. Group A2 rats(n:8) were the second-line burnt group which was given PRP with educated platelets. Group B2 rats(n:6), as control group, were the second-line burnt group which was given PRP with ordinary platelets. Photos of rats' dorsum were taken by digital camera on the first day and 21st day of the study. Wound healing was determined by scar surface area. In the study group (Group A2) mean wound area was  53±37 mm², in the control group (Group B2) mean wound area was 114±55 mm² on the last day of the experiment. The sizes of the wounded areas were significantly lower in the study group compared with the control group (p: 0.039). Educated platelets seem to facilitate the recovery period of burn wound healing in rats.

Background: Burning is one of the worst accidents that people may now experience in modern society. One of the most critical problems of burn patients is the anxiety caused by medical treatments such as burn dressing. The present study aimed to determine the effect of rhythmic breathing on the anxiety of dressing change in burn patients. Materials and Methods: This experimental clinical trial was done on 60 burn hospitalized patients in Ayatollah Mousavi educational-therapeutic hospital of Zanjan province in 2017. The sampling was performed continuously and the samples were randomly assigned to control and experimental groups (30 subjects in each group). The data collection tool included a demographic questionnaire and numerical anxiety scale. First, the demographic characteristics questionnaire was completed by the samples. Then, the rhythmic breathing was taught to the experimental group for 20 minutes until complete learning, and they were asked to perform the rhythmic breathing during dressing. Before and after dressing, anxiety was evaluated in the experimental and control groups for 3 consecutive days. After collecting data and entering them into SPSS 20, data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, independent and dependent t test, and Friedman test. Results: Based on the findings of the study, both groups were homogeneous in terms of age, gender, education, percentage and the degree of burn, and there was no statistically significant difference. The results of the Friedman test showed that the anxiety severity had a statistically significant difference in both control and experimental groups before and after the intervention (P<0.001). However, the severity of anxiety after the intervention further reduced in the experimental group compared to the control group, and this reduction was statistically significant in the experimental group (P<0.001). Conclusion: In general, rhythmic breathing is effective in reducing anxiety caused by a dressing change in burn patients. Thus, this method can be used to decrease the anxiety of dressing.

Aim. To assess the efficacy and safety of plant stanols in patients with arterial hypertension (AH) and disorders of lipid metabolism, without clinical manifestations of atherosclerosis.Material and methods. The study included 40 patients — men at the age of 50-55 years, with AH (stage 1) and cholesterol above 5,0 mmol/l and LDL cholesterol above 3,0 mmol/l with low and medium risk (SCORE — 1-4%). Patients with coronary artery disease and other clinical manifestations of atherosclerosis, secondary hypertension, liver diseases, diabetes mellitus, secondary dyslipoproteinemia, cardiovascular diseases requiring constant therapy, bronchial asthma were excluded from the study. Patients were randomized into 2 groups of 20 people. In the study group of patients within 3 months received plant stanols (2 tab./day), in the control group — only healthy diet. In addition, patients with high blood pressure received antihypertensive therapy. Assessment of lipid parameters (total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides) was performed at baseline and after 3 months. At the beginning of the study, after 3 months of the study patients underwent a full medical examination. Safety control of plant stanols was carried out by determination of liver enzymes (aspartic transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT)), before and after the completion of the study.Results. Patients of two groups were comparable in baseline characteristics (lipid parameters, blood pressure level). After 3 months of research beginning patients from study group have statistically significant decrease of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. The average level of total cholesterol before treatment was 5,8±0,32 mmol/l, and after treatment — 5,3±0,32 mmol/l, p<0,001. The average level of LDL cholesterol before treatment was 3,6±0,26 mmol/l, and after treatment — 3,3±0,25 mmol/l, p<0,001. According to other lipid parameters (HDL cholesterol, triglycerides) significant differences are not obtained. As a result, there was a significant reduction in the total risk from 4% to 3,1%. As for the control group, the dynamics of lipid parameters were practically not observed. For example, the average level of total cholesterol before treatment was 5,7±0,39 mmol/l, and after treatment — 5,6±0,42 mmol/l. The average level of LDL cholesterol before treatment was 3,6±0,21 mmol/l, and after treatment — 3,6±0,21 mmol/l. The differences between the study and control groups in the reduction of total and LDL cholesterol were highly significant (p<0,001). The study did not reveal the dynamics of liver enzymes. The level of AST before treatment in the study group was 28,4±6,54, and after treatment — 29,5±5,56. ALT levels were 32,3±7,38 and 33,9±5,65, before and after the study, respectively.Conclusion. The study shows the high efficacy and safety of plant stanols. We found a significant decrease of the two most important parameters of lipid metabolism — total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol.
