The article presents the results of studies on the content of artificial (137Cs, 90Sr) and natural radionuclides (226Ra, 232Th, 40K) in tissues and organs of various individuals of pumpkinseed Lepomisgibbosus (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Zaporizhzhia (Dnipro) reservoir. It has been revealed that in the bones of sexually mature pumpkinseed females, the content of radionuclides 137Cs and90Sr is 24.7% and 28.6% less, respectively, than in the bones of males. Summing up the materials of radioecological studies of 2017–2018, the following sequence of tissues and organs of the pumpkinseed by the ability to accumulate radionuclides was obtained: bone> muscle> scales> gills. Research results can be useful for further study on the fish radiation load in the basins of the Dnipro River and during monitoring radioecological research. It was determined that the content of radionuclides in the pumpkinseed muscles did not exceed the permissible levels of radionuclide content for fish as a food product (permissible levels of radionuclide content for 137Cs – 150 Bq/kg, 90Sr – 35 Bq/kg).

Relevance. In connection with the development of nuclear energy, many aquatic ecosystems have been exposed to radioactive substances. Fish, as an element of biota, is capable to accumulate radionuclides. However, fish is a traditional food. The control of the technogenic radionuclides accumulation level in the ichthyofauna is an important link in ensuring human security.Intention. To analyze the long-term data on the content of long-lived technogenic radionuclides 90Sr and 137Cs in the ichthyofauna of the Ob-Irtysh river system for the period from 2004 to 2016 and Beloyarsky pond for the period from 1977 to 2018.Methodology. Fish as a food product was assessed according to two criteria: a) permissible levels of specific activity of radionuclides (SanPiN 2.3.2.1078-01); b) using the indicator of conformity B and the uncertainty of its definition В (GOST 32161-2013 and GOST 32163-2013).Results and Discussion. Fish of all species that live in the river Tetcha, is not suitable for food use according to the criteria of SanPiN 2.3.2.1078-01, GOST 32161-2013 and GOST 32163-2013. The fish of the Ob-Irtysh river system, the habitat of which is located outside the Tetcha, meets the requirements for fish products. In the period from 1977 to 1989 in the Beloyarsk pond the accumulations of technogenic radionuclides in fish in quantities exceeding sanitary and hygienic standards were possible. Currently, the fish of the Beloyarsky pond fully complies with the sanitary and hygienic requirements for the radiation factor and is safe for human consumption.Conclusion. In the ponds exposed to the atomic energy enterprises, it is necessary to continuously monitor the content of long-lived technogenic radionuclides in fish and assess their amount in accordance with the requirements of SanPiN 2.3.2.1078-01 and using the conformity indicator В and the uncertainty of its determination В.

Abstract Study of the influence of vibration oscillations of different frequency, amplitude and vibration acceleration on the structural and functional state and mechanisms of muscle tissue remodelling. An experimental study was conducted on sexually mature male rats. The rats of the four experimental groups were subjected to vertical vibration oscillations of 15, 25, 50 and 75 Hz, respectively. It has been established that pathological changes in muscle tissue in the form of different variants of damage and remodelling tend to increase, which correlates with the frequency of vibration, amplitude and vibration acceleration level, as in the 2nd group, where the maximum permissible vibration levels did not exceed the established allowable norms, and in other groups of animals, where the permissible levels of total vibration were exceeded. By increasing vibration acceleration for more than 1.25 m/s2 (0.13 g, frequency more than 25 Hz and amplitude of 2 mm), severe damages are observed in the form of alterative changes of muscle fibres with the disappearance of transverse strain, homogenization of sarcoplasm, fragmentation with dissociation fibres on separate beams, partial and subtotal myocytolysis, and necrosis of separate fibres. Inflammation is rapidly increasing with the increase in the frequency of vibration and the level of vibration acceleration for more than 5.0 m/s2 (0.51 g).

AbstractIn the 1999 bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, NATO forces used ammunition containing depleted uranium. The cleaning of depleted uranium that followed was performed in southern Serbia by the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences between 2002 and 2007 at the locations of Pljačkovica, Borovac, Bratoselce, and Reljan. This paper presents detailed results of radioactivity monitoring four years after cleaning (2011), which included the determination of gamma emitters in soil, water, and plant samples, as well as gross alpha and beta activities in water samples. The gamma spectrometry results showed the presence of natural radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, 235U, 238U, and the produced radionuclide 137Cs (from the Chernobyl accident). In order to evaluate the radiological hazard from soil, the radium equivalent activity, the gamma dose rate, the external hazard index, and the annual effective dose were calculated. Considering that a significant number of people inhabit the studied locations, the periodical monitoring of radionuclide content is vital.

The objectives of the study are to examine the radiation and health physics situation in the area of ship repair enterprises servicing ships with nuclear power installation; to assess its possible impact on the environment and the population. Materials and research methods. The study of radiation and health physics situation on the territory was conducted by walking gamma survey using portable gamma spectrometric complexes MKS-01A "Multirad-gamma" and MKS-AT6101C. Gamma-spectrometric and radiochemical methods of analysis were used to determine the specific activity of man-made and natural radionuclides in environmental samples. Results of the study and their analysis. Practical medical and hygienic measures to study the radiation and health physics situation were carried out in 2019. It was found that the ambient equivalent dose rate in the areas of ship repair enterprises is at the level of regional values and does not exceed 0.12 μSv/h. Radionuclide specific activity in the soil of the surveyed areas does not exceed 4.5 Bq/kg — for 90Sr and 12 Bq/kg — for 137Cs, which does not exceed the established norms for unrestricted use of solid materials. Radionuclide content in the sea water samples taken in the area of closed administrative territorial unit Krasheninnikov Bay does not exceed on average: for 137Cs — 7 mBq/L, for 90Sr — 2.1 mBq/L. When comparing the results obtained with the official data on the radionuclide content in the water of Avacha Bay (90Sr up to 2.08 mBq/L at the annual average of 1.14 mBq/L), we may state that they are at the same level as the regional ones. Radionuclide content in bottom sediment samples varies within the following limits: for 137Cs — from 0.14 to 3 Bq/kg, for 90Sr — from 0.11 to 1.5 Bq/kg and is similar to the general values for soil samples. Thus, the radiation and health physics characteristics of the study area vary little and remain practically at the level of the results of studies conducted in 2014-2015. The content of man-made radionuclides in the samples of environmental objects is at the level of average values typical for the region. Potentially radiation-hazardous works carried out in 2019 at enterprises of closed administrative territorial unit Vilyuchinsk had no reliable radiation impact on the environment and population.

Background. It is known that lymphoid tissue is the first to react to stress, which is manifested by characteristic morphological manifestations, on the basis of which it is possible to study the duration of damage. Aims: study in the experiment the dynamics of changes in the histomorphometric characteristics of the rat thymus in the process of regeneration of the musculocutaneous tissue during mechanical trauma of the thigh. 84 sexually mature rats were studied, which were divided into 2 groups (experiment and control), and then into 4 subgroups, depending on the time elapsed since the moment of injury (1st, 3rd, 15th and 25th days). Mechanical damage was simulated using a setup that transferred kinetic energy to tissues comparable to that of a 5.6 mm rifle bullet. The animals were removed from the experiment by decapitation, the thymus was removed and subjected to microscopic examination. In arbitrary units, the total area of the lobules, the area of the cortical and cerebral zones was determined. Our research results indicate the phasing of changes in the histomorphometric characteristics of the thymus structure, which correspond to the phases of the course of the wound process, which can be used in forensic practice to determine the duration of the injury.
