Leading a social work program as a department chairperson is a multidimensional role requiring knowledge and skills that most faculty are unprepared to provide. Given that most universities do not have training programs to assist department chairpersons in assuming their new roles and responsibilities, faculty members must familiarize themselves with the work of department chairpersons and obtain knowledge and skills from other sources. This article provides a discussion of the various roles and responsibilities required of department chairpersons and the leadership skills required to become an effective and successful administrative leader in academia. A self-survey instrument is provided to assist department chairpersons and those aspiring to become academic leaders in assessing their leadership readiness. The article concludes with a discussion of strategic career planning and its role in helping individuals become effective academic leaders.

To commemorate the 21st century, a new learning model was designed in 2013 curriculum, in which there is a shift from teachers give knowledge to students become student must actively seek out knowledge from a variety of learning resources. In this case, the teacher acts as facilitators. Thus, language is a very central role, because the language should be in front of all other subjects. Curriculum 2013 imposed a thematic integrated learning which is no longer based subjects. Various subjects for primary schools (such as: Religion, Civics, Indonesian, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and so on) are integrated intoone book. The subject matter is not presented in textbook, but it presented in book thematics lesson, the themes are about nature, social life and culture. In this new curriculum, learning process is implemented by applying a scientific approach (observing, questioning, experimenting, associating, and networking) that includes three aspects such as attitudes, knowledge, and skills. So, how is the role of Indonesian in an integrated thematic learning by applying scientific approaches in primary schools in 2013 curriculum? By appying the method, the object of this paper is to gain preview about the role of Indonesian in 2013 curriculum that uses integrated thematic learning by scientific approach in primary schools.AbstrakUntuk menyongsong abad ke-21, model pembelajaran baru dirancang dalam Kurikulum 2013, yang di dalamnya terdapat pergeseran dari siswa diberi tahu menjadi siswa harus aktif mencari tahu ilmu pengetahuan dari berbagai sumber belajar. Dalam hal ini, guru berperan sebagai fasilitator. Dengan demikian, peran bahasa menjadi sangat sentral, karena bahasa harus berada di depan semua mata pelajaran lain. Kurikulum 2013 memberlakukan pembelajaran tematik terpadu yang tidak lagi berbasis mata pelajaran. Berbagai mata pelajaran untuk sekolah dasar (seperti: Agama, PPKN, Bahasa Indonesia, Matematika, IPA, IPS, dan sebagainya) diintegrasi menjadi satu buku. Materi pelajaran tidak disajikan dalam buku mata pelajaran, tetapi dalam buku tema pelajaran, baik tema alam, sosial, maupun budaya. Proses pembelajaran dalam kurikulum baru ini diimplementasikan melalui pendekatan saintifik (mengamati, menanya, menalar, mencoba, dan mengomunikasikan) yang mencakup tiga aspek, yaitu sikap, pengetahuan, dan keterampilan. Lalu, bagaimana peran bahasa Indonesia dalam pembelajaran tematik terpadu melalui pendekatan saintifik di sekolah dasar pada Kurikulum 2013 ini? Melaluimetode deskriptif, yang menjadi tujuan penulisan ini adalah mendapatkan gambaran mengenai peran bahasa Indonesia dalam Kurikulum 2013 yang menggunakan pembelajaran tematik terpadu melalui pendekatan saintifik di sekolah dasar.

English Learner-classified (ELC) students are one of the nation’s most marginalized student populations. One promising but understudied strategy to strengthen teaching of ELC students is teacher induction. This article examines the role of teacher induction in strengthening novice teachers’ EL-specific teaching knowledge and skills. Through a detailed analysis of induction in California, we find that the state has little external assurance that teachers who have undergone induction can meet ELC students’ unique and diverse needs. California’s decentralized, flexible, teacher-led induction may support teachers’ development of general teaching skills, but misses an opportunity to support teachers in an area where many of them struggle. The study raises other problematic issues around mentoring for equity such as monolithic views of ELC students, lack of timely and actionable information about language proficiency, and lack of guidance as to what constitutes acceptable evidence of competency teaching ELC students.

The aim of the research is, through a survey among students studying in the specialties "Nurse" and "Midwife", to study their opinion and attitude to the current models for conducting classes in the discipline "Sports", and in particular to their motor activity. The study involved students from the Medical University - Sofia (Faculty of Public Health and Branch "Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev" - Vratsa). The tasks we set ourselves are: 1. To conduct a survey on the opinion and attitude of students to the discipline "Sport" and self-assessment of their physical activity; 2. To process and analyze the data from the survey; 3. To draw conclusions and formulate recommendations. To achieve the goal and tasks, a questionnaire with 18 questions was developed, and the obtained results will give us valuable information about motor culture, knowledge and skills about the role of sports during the training of the studied students and then in their future realization as specialists.

As part of inclusion education, Education for All (EfA) or Pendidikan untuk Semua (PuS) has six main programs, including the inclusion program of Early Childhood Education (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini or PAUD). This article is compiled based on a qualitative approach, which is a type of field research and presented descriptively. This article highlights the role of Shadow Teacher as one of the main keys to the success of inclusion education in PAUD Terpadu Inklusi Bina Insan Kreatif (BIK) in Tasikmalaya city. The findings of the article show that Shadow Teacher has a variety of relatively different roles and responsibilities than class teachers. But it plays a big role in helping the success of learning carried out by class teachers, especially related to Children with Special Needs (Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus or ABK). In undergoing its roles and responsibilities, Shadow Teacher applies various strategies to assist the development of ABK students, in the academic, non-academic and self-developed fields. Furthermore, the PAUD Terpadu Inklusi BIK institute has such a crucial policy related to improving the quality, qualifications and competency of Shadow Teacher that it can provide better inclusion education services for ABK students in particular, and for other stakeholders in general.

Background: The economic contribution of women batik craftsmen in Tuban is relatively important in their families even though their income is below the district / city minimum wage (below the UMK). In general, women batik craftsmen in Tuban work as additional income earners, with flexible working hours that can be combined with domestic duties. Objective: This activity is to provide solutions to problems; a) Tuban batik handicraft and business is treated as a side job, not as a main job, so that it is not professionally in managing their business; b) women batik craftsmen in Tuban have social characteristics with low education and often live in economically poor conditions so that they are in a weak and vulnerable position from the socio-economic structure; c) the work welfare of women batik craftsmen in Tuban is not formally protected because batik production and business are located in a home environment which is considered as the informal sector; d) women who make Tuban batik have to play a 'multi burden' role. Methods: This activity is carried out in training and business management assistance. Results: The results of this activity are: 1) Increased awareness of women batik craftsmen for their strategic role in economic contribution to improve family welfare; 2) Increased knowledge and skills of women regarding the strategy of harmonizing roles in batik handicraft activities - batik business management with family - household management; 3) Increased knowledge and skills of women batik craftsmen regarding professionalism and management of entrepreneurship in handicrafts - batik businesses based on local wisdom. Conclusions: There was an increase in knowledge and awareness of women batik craftsmen about the strategic role of women, harmonization of women's roles and professionalism.

The term "classroom management." Appears in Jossos Kounin's book, "Discipline and Group Management in Classroom." Jaasbs Kunin is an educational theoretician who focuses on the ability of the teacher to influence student behavior and instruction / management instructions. So he tries to integrate learning with classroom management. Prior to this, the US focused on the role of the teacher as a translator of knowledge and skills. Different studies have developed classroom management theories, which are based on the teacher's ability to organize and plan their activity and students, using the activity and high levels of student participation in learning. Classroom management is a collection of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized, systematically methodical and tidy, focused, attentive, and academically productive during class. When classroom management strategies are implemented effectively, teachers can minimize disruptive behavior that impedes learning and other activities while increasing their effectiveness. Generally speaking, effective teachers tend to show strong skills in classroom management, while the hallmark of inexperienced or less effective teachers is the chaotic classroom.

Innovation and inventive activities related to the development of highly efficient equipment, technological equipment, tools, means of mechanization and automation, and improvement of production technology are important in accelerating the pace of scientific and technological progress. Innovative and inventive activities are carried out on the basis of design and technological knowledge and skills. The greater the amount of this knowledge and skills the manufacturer has, and the deeper they are, the greater its potential capabilities are. Providing such opportunities to specialists is carried out within the walls of the Institutions of Higer EducationWestern Military District, in the process of teaching them the basics of scientific research, the basics of technical creativity of design and modelling. So far educational the design and technological activity is the preparation for the corresponding production activity, then the question arises: what is the content of design and technological activity in the conditions of modern production and what professional requirements it puts forward. To answer these questions, you need to analyze the activities of the designer and technologist. This analysis was carried out by us on the basis of literary sources and personal experience. The conducted researches confirm the importance of the systematic process of organizing and using intersubject relations, the necessity and expediency of applying the system of methods of technical creativity to activate the educational and cognitive activities of students of technological faculties of higher pedagogical institutions.

This research uses the method the qualitative study. This research in Lubuak Alai Village, Kapur IX, Lima Puluh Kota District the Province of West Sumatra. Lubuak Alai Village is agricultural gambir centers. Local institutions involved in the market gambir is institutional farmers, gatherers, Kerapatan Adat Nagari (KAN) and village administration. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. This article extends our understanding of the everyday practices of pharmaceuticalisation through an examination of moral concerns over medication practices in the household. Moral concerns of responsibility and discipline in relation to pharmaceutical consumption have been identified, such as passive or active medication practices, and adherence to orthodox or unorthodox accounts. This paper further delineates dimensions of the moral evaluations of pharmaceuticals. In 2010 and 2011 data were collected from 55 households across New Zealand and data collection techniques, such as photo- and diary-elicitation interviews, allowed the participants to develop and articulate reflective stories of the moral meaning of pharmaceuticals. Four repertoires were identified: a disordering society repertoire where pharmaceuticals evoke a society in an unnatural state; a disordering self repertoire where pharmaceuticals signify a moral failing of the individual; a disordering substances repertoire where pharmaceuticals signify a threat to one's physical or mental equilibrium; a re-ordering substances repertoire where pharmaceuticals signify the restoration of function. The research demonstrated that the dichotomies of orthodox/unorthodox and compliance/resistance do not adequately capture how medications are used and understood in everyday practice. Attitudes change according to why pharmaceuticals are taken and who is taking them, their impacts on social relationships, and different views on the social or natural production of disease, the power of the pharmaceutical industry, and the role of health experts. Pharmaceuticals are tied to our identity, what we want to show of ourselves, and what sort of world we see ourselves living in. The ordering and disordering understandings of pharmaceuticals intersect with forms of pharmaceuticalised governance, where conduct is governed through pharmaceutical routines, and where self-responsibility entails following the prescription of other agents. Pharmaceuticals symbolise forms of governance with different sets of roles and responsibilities.
