World Tourism Organisation estimates an 80% drop in tourist arrivals by the end of 2020. The Polish tourism industry is also dramatically affected by the ongoing pandemic, with a 30% drop in the number of tourists in July 2020 compared to July 2019. The global lockdown has limited the functioning of the tourism sector, therefore domestic tourism, including urban tourism, may rise in importance. Domestic urban tourism can become a useful response to the growing resilience of the tourism industry, for example in the context of reducing dependence between the tourism industry and mobility which favours the spread of coronavirus. The potential of urban tourism in Poland is clearly visible (in 2019, it was three times higher than rural tourism in terms of overnight stays provided). However, the COVID-19 pandemic is not conducive to urban tourism in Poland, for instance, because infections are much more frequent in cities than in rural areas. The aim of the research, in addition to checking destinations of Poles in the context of urban tourism in the era of the pandemic, was to learn about the behaviour of tourists during their holiday trips. To achieve the aim of the paper, the study was conducted from 16 to 31 August 2020, using CAWI survey method, among people who visited Polish cities starting from May 2020 through the end of August 2020 (following the partial lifting of restrictions). The research indicated, despite the threat, the popularity of the largest tourist destinations in Poland. It also indicated that the behaviour and decisions of tourists were not different from those before the pandemic.

Rural tourism is one tour package that is highly desirable for foreign tourists, especially European tourists. Rural tourism has an important role and provides many benefits in the tourism sector for rural communities. When tourists travel to rural areas, they indirectly help local communities in developing rural areas and living standards. Furthermore, homestay is one of the criteria for a tourist village. Homestay is a product of the tourism industry where tourists can meet directly with local residents. Tourists who stay at the homestay and given an offer of rural tour packages, can be an opportunity for the community to attract tourists to stay longer by enjoying a variety of natural and cultural activities in the tourist village. This study aimed to determine the perceptions of European tourists on rural tour packages at D’Karang Homestay. The benefit of this research is to add references in tourism studies especially about the perceptions of European tourists on rural tourism packages. The research methods used were observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation. This research revealed European tourist perceptions of the rural tour packages offered by D’Karang Homestay but there are still shortcomings that need to be corrected.

Promotion of agritourism in Russian regions is a key condition for the formation and development of this promising trend of tourism industry. Comprehensive elaboration of regulatory and legal framework, as well as the consolidation and the multifaceted support of the municipal and regional authorities are in need for its implementation. The article is devoted to assessing the current state and development problems of agritourism in Tambov region. Agritourism in Tambov region is at the initial stage. In the region there is a complex of natural, cultural, historical and socio-economic condi- tions for its development. However, there are a number of difficulties (legal, infrastructure and others). The state and regional programs for the domestic tourism development and support for small businesses in rural areas are the most important element for the successful development of rural tourism. The article provides an analysis of tourist potential of Tambov region and identifies the problems and prospects of domestic tourism development. The author describes possibilities of agritourism for promotion and innovative development of domestic tourism, as well as justifies the necessity of the various forms of supporting tourism destinations. Tambov is currently one of the most promising regions of Russia for investments in tourism development, especially agritourism. However, successful development of this kind of business needs not only support at the municipal level. The solution of problem of agritourism development lies at the regional level. In addition, systematic work is needed in the field of professional training in rural tourism activities. For this purpose, in the region a system of continuous education in agribusiness has been developed It includes the implementation of the project activities with school children in the field of rural tourism, professional training of bachelors of technology and organization of excursion services (Agritourism) and advanced training courses for workers of RF Ministry of Agriculture

The goal of the work was to identify awareness-raising measures and prospects for the development of rural tourism in Ukraine. The following research methods are used to achieve this goal: historical - when studying the origins of the tourist industry in Ukraine; analysis and synthesis - in the study of the dynamics of tourism activities; abstract-logical - at generalization of theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of the problem being investigated. The article examines the current state of Rural Tourism and the tourism industry of Ukraine as a whole. A number of functions have been analysed and highlighted that the tourism industry performs in the national economy. The concept of rural tourism is based on a theoretical synthesis and rural areas, agro-tourism and ecotourism. It has been determined that all types of tourism can be developed in Ukraine but this potential is under-exploited and, as a consequence, the development of the tourism industry isn`t dynamic and doesn`t grow rapidly. Analyzing the current state of rural tourism in Ukraine, a number of disadvantages and advantages were identified. The prospects for the development of the tourism sector in Ukraine, including through the popularization of rural tourism, are revealed. Rural tourism is motivated by the desire to change load due to urban hypodynamy of the urban pace of life and desire for privacy and recreation in nature, the rejection of social constraints, introduction to the national characteristics of everyday life; use of environmentally friendly products in food, clothing, cosmetics. It is determined that in rural areas it is appropriate to jointly develop areas of ECO - and agro-tourism, based on the ever-increasing interest and need for environmentally friendly recreation areas and environmentally friendly products. During the study of this problem, a number of main components of rural tourism are identified and promising directions for the development of rural tourism are proposed. The practical significance lies in the fact that the proposed measures can be used in the development of regional strategies for rural development and during the popularization of rural tourism among the population of Ukraine and abroad.

The Covid-19 pandemic has a major impact on the tourism sector in DIY which causes material losses to Regional Original Income (PAD). This study aims to describe changes in the tourism sector in the conditions before the pandemic, during the pandemic, and the new normal. The results showed that the tourism sector during the pandemic and the new normal era must implement (1) health protocols for the tourism industry such as hotels, restaurants, tourist destinations, and transportation for both visitors and employees by paying attention to cleanliness, health and safety (cleanliness, health, and safety) by providing hygiene facilities such as hand washing and soap, hand sanitizers, and temperature checks with a thermo gun. The hotel even provides isolation rooms for visitors with corona symptoms, (2) Payment using electronic money (cashless). (3) Limiting the number of visitors to prevent crowds and provide a safe distance to minimize spread, and (4) Tourist locations are opened gradually by prioritizing low-risk areas such as natural and mountainous areas. Abstract Objectives: To identify the economic, social, and geopolitical impacts of the Corona pandemic on the country’s tourism industry; to identify ways to enhance domestic tourism so as to increase income in the Oman’s tourism industry which has since been declining; to identify specific travel destinations and associated recovery plans; and to suggest recommendations on the best approaches to improving the Oman tourism sector. Methodology: The research involved collection of primary data using interviews where opinions and perceptions of Omani tourism industry experts were collected regarding economic, social, and geopolitical impacts of the Corona pandemic on the country’s tourism industry; the rationale of lifting travel restrictions and the ways of increasing traveller confidence amidst the uncertainties and fears associated with Covid-19 in Oman; ways to enhance domestic tourism so as to increase income in the Oman’s tourism industry which has since been declining; and recommendations on the best approaches to improving the Oman tourism sector. Findings: The main impacts of coronavirus on Omani tourism industry include loss of revenue and reduction in hotel and occupancy rate. These effects resulted into massive job losses, unpaid leave and pay cuts amongst employees in the country’s tourism industry. The measures to be taken to enhance recovery of the tourism industry were categorized into two: government measures and business measures. Value added: With the multiple adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the tourism sector, this study will help in establishing the potential measures of fostering the positive outcomes in the sector. Recommendations: Setting aside COVID-19 recovery financial kitty; Increasing the frequency of marketing the country as the preferred and the best tourist destination in the world in both local and international media; Public-private partnerships; and encouraging domestic tourism by offering discounts and incentives for the locals enjoying the country’s tourism facilities. Offering discounted rates and fees; adopting a flexible booking policy; cancelling or waiving all the fees and fines that were charged on customers who cancelled or amended their bookings as result of COVID-19 pandemic; offering attractive discounts to clients who want to re-book their previous cancelled bookings without conditions; and diversification of operations.

AbstractAn approach to sustainable tourism through clusters is considered an appropriate strategy in less-developed rural areas of tourist-oriented countries, such as Croatia. This paper clarifies the key challenges of the development of tourism clusters in the region of Gorska Hrvatska and provides new data for an approach to sustainable rural tourism development. Using available secondary data from governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, protected areas of Gorska Hrvatska, and primary data of the Lika Destination Cluster, the paper explores the key challenges of developing a cluster of tourism and selective forms of tourism. Most tourism clusters in Croatia have remained in the first phase of development for years, even though this approach has failed to to achieve significant results. The key benefits of networking and branding in rural areas are identified and defined, but these potentials are still largely underutilized. The objective of this study is to provide practical recommendations to the Croatian tourism industry on how to learn from the suggested best practices and how to implement them effectively. For that purpose, the case of sustainable tourism located in the Gorska Hrvatska region, called the Lika Destination Cluster is analyzed.

Profitability of touristic activity conducted at rural areas usually depends on the number of provided overnight stays. Constant inflow of customers is particularly significant for objects that conduct commercialised activity. It would not be possible without marketing activities in the Internet. A website is a basic tool in the internet marketing. The website prepared with a view to perform certain functions may be ineffective when it will not be visible in search results. This visibility can be increased by optimization activities. The aim of the research was to measure the level of optimization of websites of rural tourism objects for search engines. The surveys were performed in the set of 712 websites in the form of the SEO audit by means of the selected internet applications. Evaluation of the level of optimization of every website was obtained using the method of unitarization. It was proved by means of the Pearson linear correlation that significant relation between websites’ responsivity and the level of their optimization for search engines took place. There are two recommendations that result from the surveys: the owners of rural tourism objects should adapt their websites to mobile devices and concentrate their activities on gaining contents generated by users.

Our study focuses on the planning and revitalization of mountainous rural tourism to generate income for many rural communities. It targets a community of Great Kabylie in the heart of Djurdjura massif in the eastern part of Tizi-Ouzou province in Algeria. Tourism in these mountainous areas could contribute to rural development, given that it covers 80% of the region and records 13913 tourist overnight stays. Rural tourism can be a valuable tool for local development in the Yakouren municipality. This paper is based on a literature review, field surveys, descriptive and analytical approach to revitalizing mountainous rural tourism in Yakouren, and revealing its potential through various methods, including Butler's theory, SWOT analysis, and elaboration of an indicator grid, and calculation of tourist traffic. From the results, we identified eight segments that attract tourists and five segments that villagers request. Finally, in a conceptual approach, we discuss the impact of this market on rural areas structure and propose some ideas to overcome it. As a result, through constant promotion, Yakouren can benefit from an increase in tourist traffic. Rural tourism in this mountainous community can be an essential source of income, but it requires investment.

The article considers the problematic issues of the development of the tourism industry in the Russian Federation. In the context of global challenges, the tourism sector of the Russian Federation retains significant potential to accelerate growth and strengthen its role in the development of the economy. On the example of individual tourist projects, the author summarizes and identifies possible areas of activity of public authorities. The study makes comprehensive proposals for the development of the tourist destination at the territorial level, including in the preparation of strategic documents, the adoption of regulatory measures on the business activities of the self-employed in the tourism sector, increasing the revenue base of local budgets through the development of tourism through the introduction of an additional fee.

The tourism sector has continued to be one of the most affected business units in 2020 in connection with a global pandemic. Numerous regions and tourist destinations, tourist hotspots and accommodations have been subjected to serious changes with a substantial economic impact. Thereby, the question arises as to whether the capacity to respond to customers' needs through functional digital engagement strategies is efficient for supporting a recovery and sustainable development of the tourism industry. This article comments on and provides a critical analysis of the recent online strategies related to content marketing applied to the tourism sector due to a global pandemic and the need to implement a different attitude towards tourismoriented projects. The article proposes some examples of efficient policies that fit in with changes in the world tourism market.
