The main objective of this research is to analyze the use of dialogue journal to teach writing. This case study research was conducted at one of senior high school in Cianjur. The research purposively sampling twenty students of grade XI. In order to collect the data, I used three techniques of data collection namely interview, observation, and document analysis. The research findings revealed that: (1) The reasons behind the implementation of dialogue journal were because the teacher wanted to give students opportunity to fulfill the need of reflection and expressing ideas while the belief relied on the standpoint to give non-threatening atmosphere for students to freely express themselves and to give opportunities for teacher to observe students’ progress and their personal background. The procedure of dialogue journal was done five up to seven minutes which involved three parts, those were greeting/ salutation, body, and closing. While, the learning situation was positive in the case of interaction, attitude, and motivation. Students’ responses were classified into open-ended responses which displayed students’ positive thought, feeling, and reaction because they had experienced many advantages in doing dialogue journal as well as silence which indicated the moment when the students reduced interaction to only center their attention in writing dialogue journal; (2) Teacher’s difficulties in doing dialogue journal were managing time to handle with students’ dialogue journal overload and responding to super active students. Whereas, students’ difficulties in doing dialogue journal were writing in limited time, finding suitable vocabulary, using correct grammar, and responding as well as giving suggestions to the questions given by the teacher; and (3) To cope with such difficulties, the teacher should manage a schedule to be able to correct students’ work and respond to the students’ questions. Furthermore, students’ difficulties in doing dialogue journal could be solved by giving more language skills input, doing peer correction, and encouraging autonomous learning. Keywords: Dialogue Journal, Use, Teach Writing.

This paper will present a few of the results of qualitative, case study research conducted among students in six cities in Central and Eastern Europe. It will describe the use of images in interviews and how this enabled digging beyond cultural, customary religious belief to uncover a search for ultimate meaning and spirituality. A summary of the findings regarding the emerging values of the young people and their descriptions of what is significant to them in life will be related to Savage, Collins-Mayo and Mayo's research conducted in the UK, specifically to their theories of formative and transformative spirituality and the happy midi-narrative. The tension between a young person's actual situation and their dream about their ideal life will be discussed in terms of the research findings regarding the students' use of celebrity images in their living space. The young people's values, as they emerged from the research, will be contrasted with the values and practices of churches in this region, as seen through the young people's perceptions of traditional church and as articulated by local church leaders. The paper will include a short analysis of the current religious situation in former Soviet countries in light of the finding of the research..

This chapter is centred on research on Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s concept of flow, which explores optimal experience from the context of positive psychology. It develops a theory of flow in dance improvisation which draws on the eudaimonic concept of wellbeing. Links are made between flow and the defining characteristics of eudaimonia such as personal expressiveness, self-realization, excellence, and relatedness. The chapter draws on case-study research which proposes a methodology that allows the researcher/spectator to engage with the dancer’s experience of flow. The research employs ‘reflexive embodied empathy’, involving hermeneutic reflection for understanding both the participant’s experience and the researcher’s role in constructing that interpretation. The chapter argues that flow enables the researcher/spectator to connect with the experience of the dancer, informing both their understanding of the dancer’s wellbeing and their own wellbeing in the moment of observation. Flow thus offers a perspective of wellbeing that enhances the spectator–dancer relationship.

The study of students’ motivation and attitude in second language (L2) has recently become an important concept across disciplines of second language acquisition (SLA) and communication. This study sought to validate Gadner’s (2009) Attitude Motivation Test Battery (AMBT) on a population of Arabic language learners in Nigeria, and to determine their attitudes and motivations for learning Arabic language. The sample comprised two hundred and eighty eight (288) Arabic language students from six (6) universities in Nigeria. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was conducted to explore the dimensions of the AMBT in Nigerian context. Twenty three out of the fifty items with factor loading greater than .40 loaded on four factors with eigenvalues greater than 1.0. Four constructs of the questionnaire are: Integrativeness, Attitudes toward the learning situation, Motivation and Instrumentality. The results showed that students had high levels of both integrativeness and attitude towards the learning situation, while their levels of motivation and instrumentality was very low. There was a positive and moderate correlation  between integrativenness and attitude toward the learning situation while the correlations between attitude and motivation and integrativeness and motivation were very low. Instrumentality failed to correlate with any of the factors. Multiple regression analysis showed that attitude toward the learning situation was a good predictor of students’ integrativeness. Based on these findings, some pedagogical recommendations were provided for the improvement of the students’ motivation and attitude towards the learning of Arabic language in Nigerian universities.

AbstractThis paper sketches out a number of sociolinguistic themes regarding Mexican indigenous multilingualism, exploring a global sociolinguistic framework to understand the possibilities of continuity of Mexico’s indigenous languages and their different challenges. In pursuit of an understanding of Mexican indigenous sociolinguistic complexity a series of theoretical and methodological as well as historical and empirical traits, together with our own revitalizing efforts vis-à-vis key institutional contexts, are investigated. For this purpose, case study research findings are highlighted (e.g. Nahuatl), findings which also represent different poles of the language shift-retention continuum (e.g. Kiliwa versus Yucatec Maya).

Purpose of the study is to shed light on the role of psychophysiology in the creative process, namely, the style corrections connected with pathological changes in the artist’s organism, deviating from empirical-descriptive methods. Theoretical basis of the study implies the interpretation of the notions style and disease not in their narrow professional limitation but from the standpoint of expanding the parameters of these concepts to philosophical dimensions. Based on the principle of analogy, the research findings prove that non-mimetic creative process ("pure" action) manifests itself exclusively in connection with a human from a bodily viewpoint through anthropological mimesis, which can program the propensity to certain capabilities of the individual organism (both psycho-physiological and in its creative and stylistic manifestations). C. G. Jung was the first who pointed to the productivity of this method in his work "Theoretical Reflections on the Nature of the Psyche". The creativity phenomenon (and its most specific feature – style) reflects not only "pure" psychology and the intellectual and spiritual component but also its relation to the artist as a physical being. It, outside its belonging to and being conditioned by transcendent factors, includes a quantitative aspect related to the moment of intensity. The disease (quantitative-intensive indicator) acts to some extent as a stimulator of the production/change of aesthetic enzyme ("The Obsessed" by Lesia Ukrainka). In this context, the dialectic method is also effective because the subject of study cannot be comprehensively argued using naturalistic approaches only and requires (according to A. Losev) a semantic explanation too. The essence of it is the logic of contradictions. In this case, the antinomy of matter-spirit plays a conceptual role in the projection on the plane of word-formation. Originality of the research findings is in the expansion of the causal relationship range of the creative process, namely the inclusion of the factor of psycho-physiological pathology into the system artist-work. This factor performs important stylistic functions. Conclusions. In contrast to scientific studies, where 1) style is analyzed separately (mostly in terms of text landscape description) and 2) the figure of the artist (mainly – in the parameters of empiricism, rarely – in psychoanalytic perspective), this study argues the need to correlate these issues, taking them beyond descriptiveness to avoid schematics and one-dimensionality.

Hard landscape as known is made up of man made materials found in gardens or in house compounds. At the moment it is difficult to obtain accurate information on the existence of hard landscape in the compound of Malay community houses. This is due to the hard landscape of the Malay community which is not very significant (intangible factors) compared to soft landscape elements which are more prominent (tangible factors). The aim of this study was to identify the needs and functions of each hard landscape elements in the Perak Malay landscape. The objective of this study was to determine the elements of traditional hard landscape and its use in the present. As a conceptual framework, this study will focus on the results of previous research findings that are relevant to the “user preference” of hard landscape elements used by the Malay community. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used to obtain information for this study. Case studies include the Malay traditional house in the Perak Tengah District. Researchers expect the study to be a benchmark for the survey in other districts in Perak. The results of this study concluded that the hard landscape element that is used by the Malay community is not the same as used by other communities in the world. Differences have made the study more interesting, and this information can be used by other researchers in the future.
