This chapter examines the bottom-up justification for the formation of the modern nation-state. It suggests that borderless states are dystopian, noting that in order to be democratic and promote justice, states must depend on a clear definition of territory and membership. The chapter elaborates how the borders and demarcation helped individuals define their identity, providing them with interpretive tools to decipher reality and make sense of their daily actions. It then explains the term human, human features, and identity. The chapter also explicates the need to belong to a cultural community, a nation, or any other particular group. It argues that it is an epistemological need for systems of interpretation that will allow us to understand the world and choose a way of life as well as a creative need for means of interpretation, exchange, and expression. Ultimately, the chapter assesses the negative effect of divided communities on human behavior.

Humans are, as Cassirer has demonstrated, an animal symbolicum that interprets the world by means of signs. Since the second half of the 20 th century the relation of cultures is influenced strongly by modern technology: On the one hand, nearly every culture is longing for modern technology to achieve a more comfortable life; and, on the other, modern technology changes the way of life deeply. At first sight technology seems to be a neutral instrument, a mere tool that is compatible with every way of life and does not interfere into religious and ethical orientation. But it is definitely an expression of cultural values; it produces completely new wishes and hopes and undermines inevitably traditional forms of life – a process, which implies great dangers and opportunities. First, humans must reflect on their way of life consciously and decide autonomously between alternatives; secondly the growing social standard leads to the destruction of nature which is the basis of human life. Though living in different cultures, humans have the ethical obligation to preserve nature – for their own and nature‟s sake.

Considering that Mathematics is a multidimensional problem-solving method that can be effective in all areas of cultural life, it is of great importance because of its contribution to other sciences such as physical and social sciences. It is known that the basic concepts of mathematics, which can also be expressed as a way of life, have helped to increase the usefulness of mathematics to practical and even social sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, economics, engineering and military, as well as their own values. In addition, if abstract subjects and concepts in mathematics are used in other sciences, concrete results can be obtained, which facilitate the labor of humans. In this case, it is useful to illustrate the mathematics of everyday life in order to understand the importance of mathematics. The word “function”, which is often used in everyday life as in mathematics, is one of the basic concepts in mathematics. Relating the learned knowledge and the acquired skills related to this concept to everyday life can affect the memory duration of learned knowledge and subsequent learning. Considering the importance of the subject, a case study has been conducted with (62) students. In the study, the definition of the function and two daily life examples related to the definition were presented to the candidates in black and white. The candidates were asked to make the definition of the types of functions presented to make sampling from daily life by making analogies. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. In the study, it was determined that the candidates could not go beyond the ordinary in writing samples. In addition, the success rates of candidates’ ability to define and write daily life examples have been quite different.

Two opposite statements must be rejected with the same rigor. First (1) is that a few countries have identified themselves with modernity by their scientific, technical and economic achievement and that the rest of the world, which is lagging behind the ‘advanced countries’, must follow in their footsteps and imitate their example. The article first of all sets out the falsity of such a statement, because there is not one but many western paths of modernization, and indicates that it is nothing but a colonialist ideology, which spread from European and American societies and cultures and destroyed all independent efforts of modernization in other countries, in particular China. The hegemony of the western capitalist model is more than challenged by other ways of modernization, for though the soviet model has failed, other countries are ‘emerging’ or have already emerged. Second (2) the opposite representation defends the idea of a complete multiculturalism including political regimes and human rights. It fights against the previous colonialist model and supports a total relativism. But this view makes impossible the communication between completely different countries and cultures and reciprocal fear leads to an extreme conflict between ‘civilizations’, such as S. Huntington has described. This view leads to the conclusion that war is inevitable if each civilization has a complete internal unity and a complete control on all its activities. But the world is not divided into various theocratic states: no single theocratic state commands the whole or the majority of Muslim population. The central problem remains real and difficult: how to combine unity and diversity, the difference between cultures and the capacity for them to communicate with each other? The most useful idea is to elaborate one general definition of modernity, as a culture which is based on universalistic principles. The western mode of modernization is not the only possible one; nor is it at all sure that the western process of separation of temporal and spiritual powers is the only possibility. We cannot assert that universalism must penetrate social life only through political institutions and citizenship. It is beyond any reasonable doubt that modernity, with its universalistic components, cannot be identified with only one type of social organization and cultural values.

Philosophy determination, its place and purpose in human life and society is the eternal philosophical problem. In this paper the reader is suggested to analyze the attempt of its solving by outstanding Polish philosopher Kazimierz Twardowski. Free from the extremes of metaphysics and minimalism, Kazimierz Twardowski’s philosophy has not only created the conditions for philosophical culture development, but has also brought up a pleiad of philosophically educated scientists. What are the peculiarities of Kazimierz Twardowski’s philosophy? On the bases of philosophical papers analysis, scientific and historical definition of the concept of philosophy has been carried out. It is proved, that the scientific concept of philosophy, as one of the components of polylogue manifestation of the human spirit, dissolves in historical concept of philosophy. Such philosophy understandingbrought the philosopher to the conclusion about vital human and social necessity in philosophy. If a man and society do not feel the necessity in philosophy, due to the lack of their spiritual culture, this necessity should be grown. Therefore, the care about philosophical education was one of the main goals of Twardowski’s life. The scientist interpreted philosophical education as a part of general education. He determined philosophy studies as a way of life and a school of thinking. Due to this, Twardowski believed that method studying as natural means of knowledge and self-cognition is a humane act promoting creating man’s own view of the world. Special understanding of the philosophy and the background of its development – philosophical education by talented scientist and teacher – encourages reflection on the problems in the field of Ukrainian philosophy. Philosophical and pedagogical understanding of Twardowski’s experience is relevant in the context of increasing complexity of modern relationships between a man and society.

The article is devoted to the definition of stylistic guidelines of cultural creation as a dominant of the humanitarian integrity of Ukrainian culture. Ukrainian Baroque is defined as the creative epicentre of cultural creativity of the twentieth century. Ukrainian culture has always faced the choice of solving the cultural situation and way of life, which appeals to the individual, who in turn is the bearer of responsibility, the bearer of humanitarian security, the opportunity to be and not to be, to carry and not to carry the world. Ukrainian history has shown all these possibilities. Worldview matrices, possibilities of typological comprehension of cultural creativity as an ecosystem, due to which the integrity of man as the unity of man and nature, man and culture, man and absolute, tradition and creativity are formed, are analyzed.

Culture is embedded in the way of life of the society consisting oral traditions, languages, folklore, rites and faith, music and songs, performing arts, traditional herbal medicine, literature, traditional food as well as traditional sports and games. The culture of a society differs from one another. Value is a concept of culture that exists in the human mind and not in an object. Value can be defined as something that has benefits and interests shared by humanity. This study explores the culture of the diasporic community of Aceh in Yan, Kedah. The focus of the study are the cultural values of Aceh obtained from interviews, observations and library research. Aceh culture is filled with the diversity of prestigious values that are based from Islamic religious beliefs. This study will also describe the fundamentals of cultural values of the society’s present Aceh in dealing with outside influences in the era of globalization and the problems faced by the community in the context of the Aceh nation. Furthermore, the study will focus on moral values found in Aceh’s culture. The definition of the diasporic Aceh community is emotionally and politically committing oneself to their motherland however, this perception had changed and developed through movements and migration around the world including their current place situated in Malaysia. They brought along cultural values and world viewto be inherited by the younger generation who are the foundation for the expansion of Aceh culture in nowadays community.

Services like tourism have to use the possibilities of modern advertising. In particular, these include the World Wide Web (WWW). This platform brings its products and services directly to the customers. To place the information about a region and its tourist offer in optimal manner requires exact definition of elements in the Web based tourist information system (WETIS) and their presentation. We discuss the elements and their integration in other services, the data structures and types, maps and their interactivity. Furthermore, we present tourism related data of selected Slovakian villages and cities. Finally, we give a report regarding our demonstration web page and future development. The usual tourist information on the web usually relates to the most interesting historical or cultural sights in the region and is marketing oriented. In this way the full image of history and beauty of the characteristic towns and villages is usually missed. Our intention was - in cooperation with the Geotourism students of the Institute if Geotourism - to map also these features of Eastern Slovakia and of the NE Carpathians. As the web is to serve mainly the tourist community, the map connects to useful information on various facilities available at the given locality. The detailed photo-documentation makes it possible e.g. also to see each traditional house. This is interesting as the number of these houses is decreasing. They are replaced by modern buildings, which lack the regional and local flavour.
