The aim of the article is to present the main peculiarities of the process of intercultural tolerance formation at higher education institution and the results of implementation of the pedagogical technology of future masters intercultural tolerance formation developed by the authors. A new approach to solving the scientific problem of increasing the level of intercultural tolerance of future masters is based on organizing the process of intercultural tolerance formation as an integral pedagogical process, based on strengthening interdisciplinary links, introduction of adequate sequential pedagogical technology as well as during extracurricular activities that will contribute to the personal development of future masters. The results of the survey conducted before the implementation of a new pedagogical technology showed that the majority of future masters had mostly low and average level of intercultural tolerance that did not allow them to work efficiently with the representatives of foreign cultures. The pedagogical experiment, the goal of which was to check the efficiency of the implementation of the developed pedagogical technology of the formation of future masters intercultural tolerance, proved the effectiveness of the proposed technology and confirmed the formulated hypothesis of the study. The majority of future masters in the experimental group reached the average and the high levels of intercultural tolerance, while the results of intercultural tolerance formation in the control group, where students were taught in the traditional way, showed a slight dynamics at the average level.

Aim of the research: to explore the possibility of building professional competence of physical culture educa- tors in higher education institutions. Methods and organization of the research: theoretical modeling, interpretation, survey and diagnostic meth- ods, expert assessment, observation, pedagogical experiment, mathematical processing of research outcomes. The study involved 30 teachers of the Department of physical education and sports and coaching staff in Ka- zan State University of architecture and civil engineering. At first, we selected the tools and methodology of the study. Secondly, we designed a competency development model for physical culture educators in higher education institutions. The third step included experimental research on building professional competence of educators with consideration of the developed model. Research results: At the beginning of the experiment, we identified the professional competence baseline for the educators in the control and experimental groups. Building competence of teachers in the control group was carried out by means of advanced training courses on the «standard» program. The program included lec- tures and seminars on various program modules. The course was terminated with a final certification project on the selected topic. Teachers in the experimental group participated in the professional development pro- gram based on the competency development model. At the end of training, we re-identified previously studied indicators and compared the data. The results of the study revealed that the level of professional competence of teachers in the experimental group had considerably increased relative to the control group. Conclusion. The results of the study demonstrated that «standard» professional development programs avail- able in higher education institutions are not enough for effective teaching competence enhancement. It is essential to have a special training technology, which is implemented in the developed educational model of teaching competence enhancement.

Basketball, as an important means of physical education and health improvement of children, is included in the compulsory programs of general education schools. Basketball provides versatile development, an increase in almost all motor and coordination qualities, agility and accuracy. Purpose: to assess the effectiveness of using basketball equipment in extracurricular activities with children of senior school age. Materials and methods: theoretical analysis of scientific literature data, anthropometric methods, physiological methods, assessment of the level of somatic health, pedagogical methods, statistical methods of data processing. The experiment involved 20 children aged 15-17 years old, students of 9-11 grades of a comprehensive school. Results. The use of training lessons in basketball in senior school age should take into account the functional state of the body of children. In the experimental group, 80% of children had an average level of somatic health and 20% below average. Above average, low and high levels were not identified. In the control group, 40% of the pupils had a low level of somatic health, 30% of those studied had a lower than average level of somatic health and 30% had an average level. Above average and high levels were not revealed. According to the results, it can be noted that there were no deviations in the regulation of the cardiovascular system, both in the control and in the experimental groups. The analysis of the results of pedagogical testing made it possible to establish in the age aspect their gradual, but, as a rule, uneven growth. The analysis of testing the long jump found that: in the experimental group, all students showed better results at the initial stage than at the final stage. Conclusions. Comparing the results, we can conclude that the results in the two groups were quite high and corresponded to the indicators of physical fitness of senior schoolchildren.

Abstract This article presents the results of an ethnographic study of student humor in a French elite higher education institution, specifically how students in the student community use the term polard. The data was collected between 2014 and 2018 in one of France’s most prestigious elite higher education institution. There are two main ways this term is used as humor, indirectly mocking students, notably those outside the student community, a practice that constructs the polard as a foil figure of a student who spends all their time doing schoolwork and refrains from participating in extracurricular activities, and teasing friends and acquaintances in interactions following a devalued behavior, seeming over-concerned with studies. Furthermore, there exist interactional scripts students can use to successfully navigate these teasing interactions without losing face. Finally, this humor is discussed in relation to the elite setting, as it is linked to the social closure of these elite higher education institutions, and it contributes to the production of an elite student community, by socializing students to privileged self-presentations characterized by ease and by creating distinctions between students, separating the truly elite students from the others.

This research has a singular and notable importance, because if something should concern a Higher Education Institution, it is knowing what is the destiny within society of the human resource trained in its classrooms, that product that the institution delivers to the community who are its graduates and professionals. For the Institutions of Higher Education it is satisfactory on the part of employers, that the training received in the Institution of Higher Education is indicated, that the majority of graduates and professionals are incorporated into the occupational market; that is to say; some exercise their profession and others do it in occupations that do not correspond to their profession, which is justified, being aware that one of the great problems of the contemporary world is undoubtedly the lack of demand for human resources for stable work, which according to Authorized and reliable studies of every 10 people who join the economically active population, only 3 have real possibilities of fully joining the labor market, either in the private or public sector.

There are following prerequisites outlined in this article: worldwide democratization trend; complexity of structures of social systems; growing needs in human capital development; autonomy of national higher education institutions; civilizational problem of Ukraine in national elite. Conceptual problems on a road to real democracy in higher education institutions were actualized and analyzed. Determined and characterized three models of higher education institutions activities based on the level of democratization needs of their social environment as: negative, neutral and favorable.

In view of the benefits of inquiry-based learning and knowledge management (KM) in triggering students’ communication and knowledge construction and the benefits of a flipped classroom in engaging student learning in- and out-of-classroom, this study proposed to integrate inquiry learning and KM into a flipped classroom to cultivate student web-programming learning performance in a higher education setting. Fifty-one university students participated in a web-programming course. The students in the experimental group used the proposed approach, while those in the control group used the conventional inquiry-based flipped classroom approach. The results indicated that integrating KM and inquiry-based approach into a flipped classroom can improve students’ programming skills and code comprehension and help them learn more effectively with better learning achievements.

The concept and content of control are important components of the theory and methodic of physical culture and sports. The consistency in processes and objective corrections of certain actions (processes) are provided by using of control. Actualization of scientific issues of control in the context of reforming the structure and content of higher education is gaining new importance. This is due to the higher dynamism and student-centered character of modern education. An urgent scientific and applied problem of modern physical education in higher education institutions is the substantiation of a systematic approach to training students swimming that will take into account existing experience and modern requirements. The purpose of the study was to substantiate the control subsystem in the training students swimming in higher education institutions during physical education. Material and methods: theoretical analysis and generalization, study of documentary materials, sociological methods of survey (questionnaire), system analysis, historical and logical research methods. Results and discussion. The control subsystem for the most aspects is management by a higher order system due to the close relationship with the control source, placement trends and the objectivity benefits. This subsystem is the basis for the differentiation of parts and at the same time for integration with the establishment of the organic unity of the whole system components. The key requirement for conducting control in the physical education condition in higher education institution is compliance with the specifics of the sport means as a variable component of the education content. Specific features of swimming have an important value for choosing complex of indicators. In the theoretical substantiation of control, there was observed requirements that are specified in the scientific and methodical literature. Among them are: availability of interval scale, reliability, validity, discriminativeness, availability of normative data, adaptability of the test, ease of execution and simplicity, limitation of test tasks, operationalization and verification of these tests / control exercises). It also takes into account a number of additional requirements for simplicity and low resource costs, regardless of the level of tests complexity, clarity and accessibility for teacher and student, conciseness and accuracy of execution instructions, the absence of external stimuli. Conclusion. Control is a fundamental element of conscious systemic human activity. The result of solving the generalized purpose of the system should be understood, accepted and acceptable to all participants of this process. Substantiation of the control subsystem of the training swimming system involves the formulation of a new category of individually-oriented content of control of students of higher education institutions and its variants. These variants must be built taking into account objective factors (the presence of different groups of students on the level of swimming preparedness, individual-motivational orientation of activity and trajectory of goal setting in the system of training swimming during physical education)

The article investigates the influence of health and recreational physical activity on terminal and instrumental values of higher education institutions students. The following research methods are used, including theoretical analysis of professional scientific and methodological resources by domestic and foreign authors, sociological, psychological and diagnostic, pedagogical research methods, methods of mathematical statistics. To determine the initial level of healthy lifestyle attitudes formation among students M. Rokych’s method of “Value Orientations” has been used. The research has been conducted on the basis of Kyiv National Linguistic University, National Pedagogical University named after M. P. Drahomanov. The study has involved 48 students (23 boys and 25 girls), who were part of the experimental (EG) and control (CG) groups (total of 24 people). The program of health-improving classes for students of higher education institutions has presupposed the use of various means of health-improving and recreational physical activities twice a week. The duration of classes was one and a half hours. Those that are most in demand among student youth were chosen as priorities. Among the young men these were strength exercises, elements of sport games and recreational games. Among the girls they included health fitness exercises. We have confirmed the feasibility and necessity of using innovative means of physical activity and forms of extracurricular activities in development of such programs that significantly increase the motivation of young people to participate in such programs. In the course of the research we have studied the hierarchy of terminal and instrumental values among young men and women who studied in higher educational institutions. The application of the developed program contributed to the students' awareness of “health” category value. Among EG students such instrumental values as education (depth of knowledge, high general culture), self- control (restraint, self-discipline) and rationalism (ability to think wisely and logically, to make thoughtful, rational decisions) have transferred to the first place. The obtained results prove that there are positive changes in the system of students’ terminal and instrumental values under the influence of health and recreational motor activity.

Responding to identified shortcomings is components of the internal quality assurance system of a higher education institution. A study of the educational activities of future teachers-engineers of computer profile found that most students are not going to devote their career to teaching, thus preferring engineering. Undoubt- edly, higher education institutions must respond to the requests of stakeholders, especially those seeking higher education. On the other hand, there are requests from employers (educational institutions) for teachers-engineers of computer profile. Therefore, further research was aimed at enhancing cognitive activity primarily by increasing motivation for pedagogical activity. Methods: pedagogical experiment. Results. An experimental test of the effectiveness of pedagogical conditions for intensifying the educational activities of future teachers-engineers of computer profile in professional training. Originality. The results of the study testify to the effec- tiveness of certain pedagogical conditions for intensifying the educational activities of future teachers-engineers of computer profile: changes of external motivation to internal will take place if the information and communication technologies are introduced into educational process of studying peda- gogical disciplines; change of position in the educational activity of future teachers-engineers of computer profile in the study of pedagogical disciplines will take place under the condition that students apply a project approach to the organization of their own educational activity; intensification of educational activity due to its correc- tion in future teachers-engineers of computer profile in the process of operative feedback at each stage of educational activity. Comparative analysis of experimental data shows an increase in the percentage of students of the experimental group compared to the control group with a high level of educational activities of future teachers-engineers of com- puter profile in the study of pedagogical disciplines for a stable active position of educational activity – by 34%, internal motivation to study – by 32%, by the ability to plan and organize their own educational trajectory – by 32%, by academic performance – by 25%). When comparing the results before and after the ex- periment: in the control group the empirical values of the criterion χ2 are less than critical, the characteristics of the compared groups coincide at the level of significance of 0.05; in experimental group the empirical values of the criterion χ2 are greater than the critical one, the signifi- cance of the difference in the characteristics of the com- pared groups is 95%.
