The article investigates the influence of health and recreational physical activity on terminal and instrumental values of higher education institutions students. The following research methods are used, including theoretical analysis of professional scientific and methodological resources by domestic and foreign authors, sociological, psychological and diagnostic, pedagogical research methods, methods of mathematical statistics. To determine the initial level of healthy lifestyle attitudes formation among students M. Rokych’s method of “Value Orientations” has been used. The research has been conducted on the basis of Kyiv National Linguistic University, National Pedagogical University named after M. P. Drahomanov. The study has involved 48 students (23 boys and 25 girls), who were part of the experimental (EG) and control (CG) groups (total of 24 people). The program of health-improving classes for students of higher education institutions has presupposed the use of various means of health-improving and recreational physical activities twice a week. The duration of classes was one and a half hours. Those that are most in demand among student youth were chosen as priorities. Among the young men these were strength exercises, elements of sport games and recreational games. Among the girls they included health fitness exercises. We have confirmed the feasibility and necessity of using innovative means of physical activity and forms of extracurricular activities in development of such programs that significantly increase the motivation of young people to participate in such programs. In the course of the research we have studied the hierarchy of terminal and instrumental values among young men and women who studied in higher educational institutions. The application of the developed program contributed to the students' awareness of “health” category value. Among EG students such instrumental values as education (depth of knowledge, high general culture), self- control (restraint, self-discipline) and rationalism (ability to think wisely and logically, to make thoughtful, rational decisions) have transferred to the first place. The obtained results prove that there are positive changes in the system of students’ terminal and instrumental values under the influence of health and recreational motor activity.

The article considers the main approaches to the problem of stress resistance of students in higher education institutions of Ukraine. It is determined that a number of scientists consider stress resistance as a property of the individual that determines its effective activity, and others as cognitively conditioned mechanisms for overcoming stress. It is noted that in psychological science there are other views on the stress resistance of the individual, but when studying the stress resistance of students in the educational process of higher education, it is advisable to use the above approaches. Studies suggest that most students have low levels of psychological stress, mental stress and medium, high levels of resilience. The main coping strategies of students’ behavior in stressful situations are “confrontational coping”, “avoidance”, “self-control” and “problem solving planning”.

Higher education institutions in Nepal have been offering different types of health sciences programmes over the last few decades. With the growing number of education institutions, the range of programmes has also increased. Currently, five higher education institutions – TU, KU, PU, PoU and BPKIHS are providing health sciences course at undergraduate and graduate level. TU being the leading university to offer most of health science programmes, there is observable influence in the curriculum contents and design of the remaining four institutions. However, a variation is observed in structure of curriculum within and between institutions. The curricula of Pokhara University are better designed and recent compared to other while the curricula of TU are less revised and comparatively old. Curricula in general health sciences are detailed and favourable to research methodology contents. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/nje.v3i3.9185 Nepal Journal of Epidemiology 2013;3(3): 253-258

The article examines the problem of formation and development of modern educational values in the minds and activities of Ukrainian applicants for higher education, in particular of masters of the humanities. The results of the diagnostic section in the form of a questionnaire of students and lecturers were conducted to determine the state of formation of the axiological thesaurus of masters of the humanities. Level groups of the master’s students are singled out, and the conclusion with the recommendations about the necessity of a choice of methods, means, and forms of influence on educational values of the future experts of the humanitarian sphere, in particular culturologists, philosophers, philologists are offered.Based on the theoretical search, experimental survey and generalization of materials in the prospects of the study determined the development of axiological principles of the contextual-professional model of training future masters of the humanities, which include: purpose (formation of professional readiness based on competencies, appropriate practical orientation of learning), values (pragmatism, communication with employers, the system of terminal and instrumental values), principles (independence in learning; formation of the content of education through problems of cognitive, professional, communicative, organizational, axiological nature; integral inclusion of higher education in educational and cognitive and scientific research activities, openness and freedom of choice of their actions, the formation of a reflective position in relation to themselves as a subject of professional activity), the selection of content (interdisciplinarity, context). The concept of university sports in Serbia is still dominantly based on occasional sports manifestations (competitions) for students. Mostly in the shape of single ad-hoc tournaments in different areas of sport or as competitions of student athletes within the University sports association. The current position of a majority of student population in terms of university sports in Serbia can be characterized as passive (spectators), while direct participants, who are recruited from the field of active competitive sports, have this only as an “additional” obligation within the sport they already practice in “their” sport clubs. Therefore, students’ perception of the role of sports/physical activity at university represents a very important determinant for creating adequate (new) program contents, concepts and for the implementation of physical education in higher education institutions in Serbia. The goal of this research, which is realised as an empirical non-experimental study, is to identify the attitude and opinion of students about the role of sport and organized physical exercising at university. The sample involved 227 students at the University of Novi Sad and Educons University from Sremska Kamenica. Survey was used as the basic research technique, and the instrument was constructed as a questionnaire whose basic semantic structure was based on similar instruments used in a few earlier studies. The results showed that the currently trend indicates a drop in regular practice of sport after enrolment in faculty, but youth positively perceive the role of sports at higher education institutions, clearly recognizing its importance in social interaction. Therefore, pedagogical implications of this research can certainly dominantly relate to management structures of higher education institutions in shape of a clear message about the necessity to introduce more intense education of all education stakeholders about the values and importance of physical activity (physical exercising) of youth. In that context, they also encourage changes in overall education policy in Serbia.

The aim of the article is to present the main peculiarities of the process of intercultural tolerance formation at higher education institution and the results of implementation of the pedagogical technology of future masters intercultural tolerance formation developed by the authors. A new approach to solving the scientific problem of increasing the level of intercultural tolerance of future masters is based on organizing the process of intercultural tolerance formation as an integral pedagogical process, based on strengthening interdisciplinary links, introduction of adequate sequential pedagogical technology as well as during extracurricular activities that will contribute to the personal development of future masters. The results of the survey conducted before the implementation of a new pedagogical technology showed that the majority of future masters had mostly low and average level of intercultural tolerance that did not allow them to work efficiently with the representatives of foreign cultures. The pedagogical experiment, the goal of which was to check the efficiency of the implementation of the developed pedagogical technology of the formation of future masters intercultural tolerance, proved the effectiveness of the proposed technology and confirmed the formulated hypothesis of the study. The majority of future masters in the experimental group reached the average and the high levels of intercultural tolerance, while the results of intercultural tolerance formation in the control group, where students were taught in the traditional way, showed a slight dynamics at the average level.

Introduction. This psychological research addresses the problem of motivational-value self-organization of teachers and students in education. The purpose of the article is to determine the features of motivational and value self-organization of teachers and students in the post-Soviet educational environment. Materials and Methods. The research was conducted from 2002 to 2020 on the basis of higher education institutions and secondary schools in Ukraine (Donbass, the Nikolaev Region) and the Crimea. The sample consisted of 2128 people including students doing degrees in the fields of Humanities, Law, Economics, and Engineering; secondary school teachers and students; academic staff of higher education institutions. The study has investigated the constructs of motivational-value self-organization of teachers and students in terms of meaning of life orientations. The author developed and used ‘motivational-value self-organization inventory’ in order to disclose levels and types of personal values as well as factors determining personal life goals. Results. The main research findings are that (1) ‘Individual pragmatic type’ of motivational-value self-organization predominates among value orientations of teachers and students (education, work, happiness in private life, housing and material well-being, health, etc.); (2) teachers and students are not focused on social (public achievements and problems), cultural (existence and civilization) or moral values. (3) Students are more optimistic about self-fulfillment and more internal in clarifying their life goals. Conclusions. The article concludes that motivational-value self-organization being a personal quality is developed within the sociocultural environment (educational semantic space) which determines personal identity.
