Skin cream, is one of the dosage forms, which contain little water content, and is widely used both as a medicinal and cosmetic cream. This study made an herbal cream formulation based on Agung Semeru banana skin of Lumajang variety which was known as an antimicrobial at a concentration of 100% which would then be tested for its ability as an antimicrobial against the growth of Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus. The method used in this study is using the paper disk Diffusion method with 6 repetitions, where data in the form of inhibitory zone diameters were analyzed using 1% One Way ANOVA test and continued with Duncan's test at 1%. The results of this study showed that there were significant differences between the treatment groups (α = 0,000), where the cream formulation of the Candida albicans fungi showed a larger inhibition zone diameter (22.50 ± 1.70 mm) than the inhibitory zone diameter in Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (21 , 50 ± 1.68 mm).

DAYA HAMBAT EKSTRAK ETANOL Schismatoglottis sp. TERHADAP BAKTERI Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coliABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak etanol daun Schismatoglottis sp. terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Daya hambat ekstrak etanol Schismatoglottis sp. terhadap bakteri menggunakan metode Kirby-Bauer, yaitu metode difusi dengan cakram kertas. Ekstrak etanol Schismatoglottis sp. menghambat pertumbuhan S. aureus pada konsentrasi 60% dan 90% dengan diameter zona hambat 16,10 mm dan 31,33 mm serta  terhadap E. coli pada konsentrasi 30%, 60%, dan 90% dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut 11,72 mm, 16,38 mm, dan  29,27 mm. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol Schismatoglottis sp. terhadap S. aureus pada konsentrasi 60% dan 90% masing-masing memiliki kekautan antibakteri termasuk kategori kuat dan sangat kuat, sedangkan terhadap E. coli pada konsentrasi 30% dan 60%, memiliki kekuatan antibakteri kategoti kuat sedangkan pada konsentrasi 90% memiliki kekuatan antibakteri kategori sangat kuat. Inhibition of the ethanol extract of Schismatoglottis sp. against to bacterial using the Kirby-Bauer method, is the paper disk diffusion method. Schismatoglottis sp. ethanol extract inhibit the growth of S. aureus at a concentration of 60% and 90% inhibition zone with a diameter of 16.10 mm and 31.33 mm and against E. coli at a concentration of 30%, 60%, and 90% with inhibition zone diameter respectively 11, 72 mm, 16.38 mm and 29.27 mm. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji daya hambat ekstrak metanol Selaginella delicatula dan Diplazium dilatatum terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Pengujian daya hambat ekstrak terhadap bakteri menggunakan metode Kirby-Bauer, yaitu metode difusi dengan cakram kertas. Ekstrak S. delicatula menghambat pertumbuhan S. aureus pada konsentrasi ekstrak 30%, 60% dan 90% dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut 0.00 mm, 6.70 mm dan 7.80 mm; serta menghambat pertumbuhan E. coli dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut 0.00 mm, 8.40 mm dan 13.00 mm. Ekstrak D. dilatatum menghambat pertumbuhan S. aureus pada konsentrasi ekstrak 30%, 60% dan 90% dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut 0.00 mm, 0.00 mm dan 6.70 mm; serta menghambat pertumbuhan E. coli dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut 0.00 mm, 0.00 mm dan 8.00 mm. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak S. delicatula dan D. dilatatum tergolong dalam kategori kuat dan sedang serta memiliki potensi sebagai bahan dasar antibakteri, karena kedua ekstrak menunjukkan daya hambatnya. S. delicatula extract inhibited the growth of S. aureus at concentrations of extract 30%, 60% and 90% inhibition zone diameter respectively 0.00 mm, 6.70 mm and 7.80 mm; and inhibit the growth of E. coli with inhibition zone diameter respectively 0.00 mm, 8.40 mm and 13.00 mm. D. dilatatum extract inhibited the growth of S. aureus at concentrations of extract 30%, 60% and 90% inhibition zone diameter respectively 0.00 mm, 0.00 mm and 6.70 mm; and inhibit the growth of E. coli with inhibition zone diameter respectively 0.00 mm, 0.00 mm and 8.00 mm. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the extract of S. delicatula and D. dilatatum classified in the category of medium and strong and has potential as a base material for both extracts showed antibacterial inhibitory power. Senduduk (Melastoma malabathricum L.) is one of the wild plants used as traditional medicine. Senduduk leaves are used as a medicine for sprue, boils, diarrhea and smallpox. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of senduduk leaves of the against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Senduduk leaves extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent. Antibacterial activity testing is carried out using the diffusion method using paper discs.This experiment was repeated three times using concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%.Ethanol extract of the senduduk leaves contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids/triterpenoids. The test results showed that the ethanol extract of the leaves has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus which is characterized by the inhibition zone formed around the disc paper. In Escherichia coli bacteria the smallest inhibition zone at a concentration of 20% with a diameter of inhibition zone 11 mm and the largest diameter of the inhibitory zone at a concentration of 80% with a diameter of inhibition zone 19 mm. whereas for the smallest inhibitory zone Staphylococcus aureus bacteria at a concentration of 20% with an inhibition zone diameter of 12.6 mm and the largest inhibitory zone dameter at a concentration of 80% with a diameter of the inhibitory zone 21,3 mm.The results of the study concluded that the ethanol extract of Senduduk leaves has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

The leaves of kenikir are known to have many benefits, one of which can be used as medicine. Kenikir leaves are reported to have antibacterial activity against the bacteria Salmonella typhi (S.typhi). S. typhi is a bacterium that causes typhoid fever. Typhoid fever is still an endemic disease in Asian countries, especially Indonesia. Typhoid fever became the third largest disease in Indonesia in 2010. The study related to the antibacterial activity of kenikir leaf fraction to S. typhi has never been reported. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research related to the antibacterial activity of extracts and leaf fractions of kenikir to compare their potential against S. typhi. The study was conducted using the disk diffusion method using 5 series of concentrations namely 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 30%. Tests were carried out on methanol extract, hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol-water fraction. The results showed that highest inhibition zone diameter is 7,75 mm which is reached by methanol extract. The order of the highest inhibiting zone diameter are extract, hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol-water fraction.

ABSTRAK Kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman obat yang termasuk dalam keluarga Zingiberaceae. Senyawa aktif yang terkandung dalam rimpang kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) mampu bekerja sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak etanol rimpang kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan cara refluks menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan menggunakan metode difusi paper disk dengan masing-masing konsentrasi ekstrak 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% b/v. Kontrol positif yang digunakan adalah Ciprofloxacin sedangkan kontrol negatif yang digunakan adalah DMSO. Hasil skrining fitokimia ekstrak etanol rimpang kunyit mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, fenol, tanin dan terpenoid. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ekstrak etanol rimpang kunyit dapat menghambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa pada konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% dan konsentrasi 40% merupakan konsentrasi yang memberikan diameter zona hambat terbesar terhadap kedua bakteri uji yaitu 8,63 mm dan 7,8 mm. Kata Kunci : aktivitas antibakteri, Curcuma longa L., Staphylococcus aureus,    ABSTRACT Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is one type of medicinal plant that belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. The active compounds contained in the Curcuma longa L. rhizome can work as antibacterial. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of Curcuma longa L. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out using the paper disk diffusion method with each extract concentration of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%. The positive control used was Ciprofloxacin while the negative control used was DMSO. The results of phytochemical screening of the ethanol extract of Curcuma longa L. rhizome contain alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, tannins and terpenoids. Based on the results of the study, the ethanol extract of turmeric rhizome can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria at concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 40% concentrations which give the largest inhibition zone diameter of the two test bacteria which is 8.63 mm and 7.8 mm. Different concentrations of ethanolic extracts of thyme (Zataria multiflora) and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) were evaluated to determine their antimicrobial activity using the agar-well diffusion method. The values of inhibition zone diameter (IZD) for Candida albicans fungus and Staphylococcus aureus Gram-positive bacteria were determined. The bioactivities of two various extracts were studied, and the chemical composition of the extracts were identified using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) technique. The results of the test showed that at concentrations of 10% and 40% thyme extract, the values of IZD were 12.5 mm and 23.3 mm, respectively, against the growth of S. aureus, which were higher than C. albicans (7.0 mm and 22.5 mm, respectively). The rosemary extract at concentrations of 20% and 60% showed lower antibacterial activity against S. aureus (4.7 mm and 8.7 mm IZD, respectively) and lower antifungal activity against C. albicans (12.2 mm and 1.7 mm IZD, respectively). At a concentration of 40% thyme extract, the highest antibacterial (23.3 mm IZD) and antifungal (22.5 mm IZD) activities were observed. The GC/MS analysis showed that carvacrol (52.3%), linalool L (16%), and thymol (9.6%) were the main components of thyme extract, while in the rosemary extract β-amyrone (18.0%), verbenone (8.0%), and 1,8-cineole (7.26%) were the major constituents.

Background: Staphylococcus aureus is a gram positive bacterium that causes pyogenic infectious disease, such as boils, pimples, endocarditis and sepsis. Resistance of S. aureus is continued growth that made it becomes a very serious problem that need to be solved by looking for another effective alternative for this infection. Several of marine life can be used as a source of antibacterial medication, antiviral, and antifungal. One alternative of antibacterial that comes from water resources is brown seaweed (Sargassum sp.). Purposes: This study aimed to find out the inhibitory fraction of n-hexane and ethyl acetate of Sargassum sp. against the growth of S. aureus Methods: This study applied quasi experimental method which used posttest-only control design. Samples used in the form of brown seaweed treatment of fraction n-hexane and Ethyl acetate derived from Desa Bungin Permai Kecamatan Tinanggea Kabupaten Konawe Selatan. The fraction inhibition test was conducted by diffusion agar method used variant concentration (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%) with three repetitions. Erythromycin as control (+) and DMSO 10% as control (-).Result: The study result showed that the n-hexane and Ethyl acetate fraction of Sargassum sp. extract was able in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus that seen with the clear zone around the paper disc. Based on this result, the minimum inhibitory fraction of n-hexane and ethyl acetate obtained in this study was at the concentration of 20%. The diameter average of inhibition zone in both fractions in the concentration 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% were 9.3 mm, 12.3 mm, 25.6 mm, 27 mm, 27.7 mm for n-hexane fraction, mean while the diameter average of inhibition zone in the ethyl acetate fraction was 4.6 mm, 16 mm, 19.3mm, 27.6mm, 29.6 mm. ethyl acetate fraction at a concentration of 40%, 80%,100% inhibitory zone diameter higher than the fraction of n-hexane while at a concentration of 20% and 60% inhibitory zone diameter higner than the fraction of ethyl acetate. Conclusion: Based on the result of the study, it was concluded that the fraction of n-hexane and ethyl acetate of Sargassum sp. has an inhibitory effect against the growth of S. aureus. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of n-hexane and ethyl acetate fraction was at the concentration of 20%. Fraction of n-heksan and ethyl acetate equally have a strong inhibition of the growth of S. aureus bacteria. Keywords : ethyl acetate fraction, minimum inhibitory concentration, n-hexane fraction, Sargassum sp, Staphylococcus aureus Latar Belakang: Staphylococcus aureus merupakan bakteri gram positif penyebab terjadinya penyakit infeksi yang bersifat piogenik seperti bisul, jerawat, endokarditis dan sepsis. Kejadian resistensi antibakteri terhadap S. aureus terus meningkat sehingga menjadi masalah yang sangat serius sehingga diperlukan alternatif lain untuk mengatasi penyakit infeksi yang lebih efektif. Beberapa hasil biota laut dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai antibakteri, antivirus dan antijamur. Salah satu bahan alternatif sebagai antibakteri yang berasal dari sumber perairan yakni rumput laut cokelat (Sargassum sp.). Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hambat fraksi N-Heksana dan Etil Asetat Sargassum sp. terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimental dengan desain post test-only control. Sampel yang digunakan berupa perlakuan fraksi N-Heksan dan Etil Asetat Sargassum sp. yang berasal dari Desa Bungin Permai Kecamatan Tinanggea Kabupaten Konawe Selatan. Pengujian daya hambat dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar dalam berbagai konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% dengan tiga kali pengulangan. Eritromisin yang digunakan sebagai kontrol positif dan DMSO 10% (Dimetil sulfoksida) sebagai kontrol negatif. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi Sargassum sp. mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus yang dilihat dengan adanya zona bening disekitar kertas cakram. Konsentrasi hambat minimum dari kedua fraksi pada konsentrasi 20%. Perbedaan rerata diameter zona hambat pada kedua fraksi dengan konsentrasi 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% yaitu sebesar 9,3 mm,12,3 mm, 25,6 mm, 27 mm, 27,7 mm pada fraksi n- heksan dan 4,6 mm, 16 mm, 19,3 mm, 27,6 mm, 29,6 mm pada fraksi etil asetat. Fraksi etil asetat pada konsentrasi 40%, 80%, 100% diameter zona hambatnya lebih tinggi dari pada fraksi n-heksan sedangkan pada fraksi n-heksan konsentrasi 20% dan 60% diameter zona hambatnya lebih tinggi dibandingkan fraksi etil asetat. Simpulan: Simpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa fraksi n-heksan dan fraksi etil asetat Sargassum sp. mempunyai daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus ekstrak rumput laut cokelat mengandung senyawa flavonoid, steroid, saponin dan tannin. Konsentrasi hambat minimum (KHM ) dari kedua fraksi yaitu pada konsentrasi 20 %. Fraksi n-heksan dan etil asetat mempunyai daya hambat yang kuat terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureusKata Kunci : fraksi etil asetat, fraksi n-heksan, Kadar Hambat Minimun, Sargassum sp,  Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract: Jatropha Leaves, Staphylococcus Epidermidis, Staphylococcus Aureus. Jatropha curcas L leaves contain tannins, saponins and flavonoids. According to some studies, tannins, saponins and flavonoids have antibacterial power. Based on these indications, it is important to do research on antibacterial potency of jatropha leaf extract (Jatropha curcas L) against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The aim of this research is to know Antibacterial Activity of Jatropha curcas L Extract on Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus". This research. An experimental study by testing the antibacterial activity of leaf extract and jatropha result of maceration, infundation and reflux as measured by Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (KHM) on growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. From the results of the research, it was found that the extract of the reflux was brownish green and the characteristic of jatropha leaves. The amount of extract produced was 17.03 g, so the yield was 17.03%. Jatropha leaf extract of maceration has no inhibitory power to S. epidermidis in 4 series concentrations starting from 3.125 ppm to 25.000 ppm. Inhibitory zones begin to appear at concentrations of 50,000 ppm and increase at concentrations of 100,000 ppm. The drag zone diameter in the Jatropha curcas extract of the reflux showed the inhibitory power in all series of concentrations. The smallest inhibitory zone was shown at a concentration of 3,125 ppm (9.33 mm) and increased with increasing concentrations. The diameter of the inhibit zone was greatest at 100,000 ppm concentrations of 22.67 mm. Description of inhibitory zone diameter of methanol leaf extract of jatropha result of maceration and reflux to S. epidermidis. The conclusion of this research is extract of reflux result giving bigger resistance than maceration extract to S. epidermidis and S. aureus. Methanol extract of jatropha from the maceration and reflux have strong antibacterial activity against S. epidermidis and S. aureus but still under Klindamycin.

The most common skin disorder is acne (Acne vulgaris) which is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs in the pilosebaceous unit. Infection can be caused by Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus. Moringa leaves are known to inhibit acne growth. Piper crocatum leaves are also thought to have antibacterial activity. The study aims to determine the effect of the combination of the two extracts in inhibiting the growth of acne-causing bacteria, also tested the gel formula to meet physical and chemical parameters as well as stability to temperature and storage, also to test the acute dermal irritation against rabbit. Each extract with a concentration of 0.3%; 0.6%; 1.25%; 2.5%; 5%; 10%; 20%, incubated then measured the inhibition zone, then determined the minimum inhibition zone concentration of the two extracts to determine the lowest levels of the extracts which still gave antibacterial activity against the tested bacteria by the well diffusion method. The extract combination was formulated in a gel preparation with the excipients Carbopol 940, PG, Phenoxyethanol, TEA, CMC, and Aquadest. Antibacterial activity test for gel preparations used the well method with positive control Medi-Klin® gel. Then the formula evaluation includes physical, chemical, and microbiological evaluations. The results showed that the combination gel form had activity against P. acne and S. aureus at concentrations of 2.5% : 2.5%. The combination gel preparation of the two extracts also has synergistic effect in inhibiting acne bacteria. The formula can meet physical and chemical parameters and is stable to temperature and storage.

Candida albicans dan Pityrosporum fungal caused micosis infections such as candidiasis and dandruff. The altervative medicine as antifungal bioactive substance is obtained from Bulbus Allium cepa L. exstract. The ekstraction of Bulbus Allium cepa L. has held by maserasi technic using etanol 96% as a solvent. The phytochem skrining result of the Bulbus Allium cepa L. extract is composed by alkaloid, flavanoid, tannin, and saponin compound. The test of these extract as antifungal is held by disk diffusion method with concentration variation of the extract is 50 %, 75%, and 100% (w/v). The extraction variation of the extract is implemented to inhibitory test and the result of the test to Candida albicans is 13,5 mm ; 16 mm ; 19 mm respectively and 12 mm ; 15 mm ; 17 mm to Pityrosporum . Base on the data ( zone diameter test of those fungal ) is concluded the extract of Aulbus Allium Cepa L. has a strong category inhibitory test. Keywords : Allium cepa, Candida albicans and Pityrosporum ovale
