This article is a review of the monograph «The Roles of Technology and Globalization in Educational Transformation», published in 2019 under the editorship of B. F. Adeoye and G. Arome. The authors of the monograph, reflecting in a liberal vein, discuss the trend in the modern education system at both the global and regional levels. In particular, we are talking about the fact that the advent and development of Internet technologies have created a new world – a new communicative space, which is characterized by a certain virtual unity. In this space, if we compare it with the classical educational systems, almost everything has changed, from programs and their focus to the participants in the educational process, the psychology of which has also changed. New technological approaches, the use of forms of online education, were able to make education more flexible and close to the consumer. At the same time, the mobility of educational systems made it possible to actively introduce them into the labor process, reaching the goal of staff development, which is especially necessary in the conditions of innovative development of the economy. In addition, the coverage of territories has expanded. Education in its various forms came to all types of settlements, encompassed poorly developed regions. Despite such an intensive development of educational technologies, a large number of problems remain associated with the pace of development of educational programs and the presence of regional specifics, which impedes the introduction of universal solutions. This gives the authors of the monograph reason to discuss the trends that characterize the modern world education system.

The article examines the features of control in the development of education systems. It is concluded that in order to increase the efficiency of education management depending on the level of development of the education system, control in it should be implemented on the basis of differentiated participation in the control activities of public structures involved in the educational process. In a rigid education system, control is exercised by the management of the institution almost without the participation of public structures. In the system with delegated managerial powers, it is advisable to involve the self-governing bodies of the educational institution in the implementation of certain micro-functions of control in educational subsystems. In a «soft» education system, the self-governing bodies of an educational institution can be involved in the implementation of individual micro-functions of control in the education system or in the implementation of control functions in its subsystems as a whole. In the system with network interactions, it is expedient to transfer control functions to self-governing bodies of the institution both in the education system as a whole and in its subsystems; other public structures included in the educational process may be involved in the implementation of certain micro-functions of control in the subsystems of the educational system. In the synergetic education system, it is expedient to delegate control functions in the educational system and its subsystems to the self-governing bodies of the institution; public structures involved in the educational process may be involved in the implementation of individual micro-functions of control in the education system or in the implementation in its subsystems of control functions as a whole. That is, the article substantiates that depending on the level of development of the educational institution, it is advisable to control it on the basis of differentiated participation in control measures of concerned public structures, ensuring the implementation of differentiated participatory control in the system. At the same time, further research requires into the use of optimal methods of control, the choice of which may also largely depend on the level of development of the education system.

The article In Defense of Human Identity: the Reality of Globalization as the Cause of Modernization of Modern Educational Systems is an attempt to reflect on the role of the educational process in the context of the value system offered in the modern world. It appears that authentic human participation in the reality of global and involuntary compliance with the directives of globalism is both a crisis of identity, of its existence, values, norms, and all human activities. Efforts taken to demonstrate the value of dogma, which carries with it an affirmation of the modern world, and conformist standards of conduct, is to notice the risk of objective truth about man and reality. Civilization implies in fact a kind of order to eradicate what is human. The human drama shows an almost total devotion to the values of functionalism and utility. Therefore, it is vital for modern education to return to the personal dimension of human existence. This accomplishment, a full range of education, which means clarifying the challenges confronting it, is only possible with recognizing and highlighting the personal status of the man based on the personalistic norm. This article helps the contemporary human being to realize the importance of learning to respect human dignity and to protect the identity of a mature man

The paper systematizes and describes the leading world approaches to the use of information and computer technologies in educational institutions in the process of modernization of current educational systems in accordance with the latest requirements of the information society. It is noted that the information society gives the humanity a fundamentally new tool of life that is characterized by the possibility of operating large volumes of information without territorial and time boundaries and displays information-knowledge at the level of the leading producer of public goods. All this leads to a review of the key functions of modern education, when the possession of information and computer technology becomes the main competence requirement for the pupil, student, and every person at each stage of his/her life. The authors substantiate the necessity of creating a system of "total computer literacy" and total informatization of the national education system, wide introduction in modern educational institutions of modern models and forms of use of information and computer technologies, introduction of the national education system to the global educational space at the institutional, environmental and personal levels. It is concluded that today our state faces a difficult task of ensuring the conformity of the basic approaches, principles and instruments of the educational process to the requirements of the transition to the era of the information society in regard to the modernization of the system of national education. We have to invest in the development of domestic innovative ICT products ahead of schedule. Technology and informatization of the educational process must become priority tasks of education reforms from pre-school education institutions to higher education and research institutions, in order not to stay away from the advancement towards the global information society.

Introduction. The emergence of social, political and economic processes in the modern world leads to the development of innovative educational technologies, among which the researchers’ attention is drawn to a professional brand-building foresight technology. The professional brand-building foresight technology is a system of principles, methods and techniques for expert analysis of current achievements of students, young professionals and anyone who seeks self-improvement. Moreover, this training technology includes the development of programmes to optimise the professional and personal self-development of an individual in terms of his/her possible career growth. The aim of the current research was to justify the professional brand-building foresight technology developed by the authors, and to check the effectiveness of its application in the formation of brand-building and foresight competencies in a future specialist in the educational process of higher education.Methodology and research methods. The theoretical and methodological strategy in the study is a competency-based approach, which contributes to the formation of brand-building and foresight competencies. The conceptual provisions of the foresight approach, implemented in a complex of brand-forming tools of a single foresight trajectory in order to model and design a professional brand in relation to the strategic goals of a future specialist, became a practice-oriented research tactic. The authors used the following general scientific and specific scientific methods: questionnaire survey based on random systematic (mechanical) sampling, in-depth interview, expert survey, document analysis, self-assessment of readiness for personal brand-building.Results. The authors presented the professional brand-building foresight technology, the essence of which lies in the design of a professional brand and future career path. Its structure includes four programmes: self-marketing, personal branding, brand-building case and a road map to success. As a result of training, brand-building and foresight competencies are developed. The approbation experiment demonstrated that without special brand-building and foresight training of students, these competencies are formed spontaneously. Based on the results of the conducted surveys, the authors analysed the level of formation of brand-building and foresight competencies and the interest in the technology of personal brand-building as a factor of career self-development. A survey of university graduates revealed the dependence of employment on special teaching methods and the professional brand-building foresight technology. The interviews held with Russian and Latvian teachers determined the effectiveness of this technology. The study of the employers’ opinions showed the reasons that hinder the successful employment of young specialists. In addition, the authors revealed a lack of knowledge and a non-systematic limited nature of teaching these competencies in universities.Scientific novelty lies in the replenishment of interdisciplinary (at the intersection of pedagogy, brand building, forecasting, professional studies) scientific knowledge about foresight methodology. The emphasis is on the innovativeness of the professional brand-building foresight technology, which contributes to the competitiveness of university graduates and increases their chances of professional success.Practical significance. The results of the research can be useful for developing ideas about brand-building and foresight competencies development, personal brand-building, professional brand-building foresighting. The research materials can be employed by students and teachers of higher education institutions, heads of educational systems in the organisation of the educational process, as well as by various specialists and practitioners.

BACKGROUND The Corona pandemic outbreak has led to a sudden change in education, closing schools and shifting the teaching online, which has become an enormous challenge for teachers and students. Implementing adequate online pedagogical approaches and integrating different digital tools in the teaching process has become a priority in educational systems. Finding a way to keep students' interest and persistence for learning is an important issue that online education is facing. One possible way for establishing engaging and interactive learning environments, utilizing students’ energy and enthusiasm for educational purpose, is use of game-based learning activities and gamification of different parts of educational process. OBJECTIVE This paper presents how we have used design thinking methodology to migrate escape room style educational game in an online environment. We investigated whether digital educational escape room can be used to increase student engagement in remote teaching and online learning. We also investigate whether we can we design thinking to create an engaging escape room educational game and provide novel educational value for the escape room educational game. METHODS Using design thinking methodology, we managed to understand which game elements were considered most engaging by the students. Starting from students’ perspective we have created a simple digital escape room where students had an opportunity to self-assess their knowledge in computer science at their own pace. Students tested the prototype game and their opinion about the game was collected through an online survey. The test's main goal was not to measure students' achievement but to evaluate the students' perceptions of the implemented digital educational escape room style game and provide information on whether it could increase students' engagement in learning computer science. RESULTS 117 students from sixth and seventh grades filled the survey regarding the achieved students’ engagement. Despite the differences in students’ answers about game complexity and puzzles' difficulty, most students liked the activity (M = 4.75, SD = 0.67 on scale from 1 to 5). They have enjoyed the game, and they would like to participate in this kind of activity again (M = 4.74, SD = 0.68). All students (100% of them) found the escape room interesting for playing and learning. CONCLUSIONS The results confirmed that digital escape rooms could be used as a tool for increasing students' interest and motivation for achieving learning outcomes and gave us an insight in the elements that could be improved in the game.
