Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a type of musculoskeletal disorder that has a detrimental effect on both workers and business continuity. Weaving activities with handloom are at risk for this disorder. Objective: To analyze the prevalence of LBP among Samarinda sarong’s traditional weavers and its related factors. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted on 49 traditional weavers of Samarinda Sarong. The instruments included the Owestry low back pain disability questionnaire, rapid entire body assessment (REBA), microtoise staturmeter and stopwatch. Data were analyzed using multiple logistic regressions. Results: The result showed that most of the weavers (92.5%) experienced LBP. Age (p= .000), work experience (p=.000), workload (p=.048) and work posture (p=.000) were significantly associated with LBP, while nutritional status (p=.773) and workload (p= .343) were not associated with LBP. Age and work posture were the most dominant variables affecting LBP.Conclusion: The prevalence of LBP among Samarinda sarong’s traditional weavers was quite high and was strongly influenced by the weavers' age and posture work. In order to improve work posture and reduce the incidence of LBP, it is recommended to modify handlooms (tables and chairs) by following ergonomic rules, reducing workload, work time limitation and adequate rest.

The metal casting industry, Nitikan is a micro business whose production process is carried out manually. The equipment used is simple and without considering the user's health. This can be seen in the product finishing process that uses a sanding machine. The equipment is not designed according to the user's posture so the operator bends in doing work movements, of course this is very risky to experience lower back pain injuries. This study aims to analyze the work activities of the finishing process using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) approach and design work tools that can be applied to improve work posture. The results of data processing and analysis obtained a Rapid Entire Body Assessment score on a sandpaper machine single head of 5 and a Rapid Upper Limb Assessment score of 4, the score indicates that the work position has the potential to experience a risk of low back pain, so there must be an improvement in work posture. Work posture improvement is done by designing a tool in the form of a sandpaper machine that takes into account ergonomic dimensions to reduce the risk of lower back injury. The final result after the improvement is obtained Rapid Entire Body Assessment score of 3 and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment score of 4. This shows that the risk of lower back injuries can be minimized.

Abstract: Low Back Pain (LBP) is the most frequent musculosceletal issue found in daily work. Extenuating physical positions comprise 80-85% of the caues of  LBP. In the medical world, a lot of causes of LBP do not identify the pathoanatomical disorders. These factors are e.g.: body in static position while working and the working body position leaning heavily on the vertebra (for example: sitting in a hunched position, sitting upright without back support, or working for unsually long periods of time). Until now in Manado no study has been carried out to show the correlation between LBP and the sitting position, or the duration of work. This study aimed to find out the correlation between chronic LBP and the sitting position or the duration of work among bank employees in one of the goverment banks in Manado. The results showed that there were 69 respondents involved in this study. Chronic LBP was found in 62 respondents (90%). Up stright position while sitting was the most frequent position that caused chronic LBP in 28 respondents. The average time used for working with sitting position was 7-8 hours which caused chronic LBP among 31 respondents of the group with the work time from 11.00-13.59. A P-value of 0.000 (<0.05) showed that there was a strong correlation between sitting position and chronic LBP. Duration of work also showed a strong correlation with chronic LBP with a P-value of 0.000. Conclusion: There were strong correlations beween chronic low back pain with sitting position while working and duration of work. Keywords: chronic LBP chronic, sitting position, duration of work, bank employees.

Chronic low back pain (CLBP) can be managed by multidisciplinary team approach especially physiotherapy and rehabilitation. In this study, effectiveness of spinal manual therapy (maitland grade I and II mobilization) for CLBP management was assessed. Methods: All subjects in the study were provided maitland grade I and II spinal mobilization for 20 minutes each. A similar treatment frequency was applied and consisted on three sessions per week for 2 continuous weeks. Numeric pain rating scale (NPRS) was applied to assess the pain severity levels before treatment and after treatment. Data were normally distributed and therefore, change in pain intensity was measured by “t” test using SPSS version 23.0. Results: The calculated mean pain score on NPRS before treatment was 3.90 (standard deviation, 0.3038) and after treatment it was 1.65 (standard deviation, 0.8638). The calculated t-value was 12.08 (p value=0.000). Conclusion: These results clearly demonstrate that the maitland G1 and G2 spinal mobilization can be exploited as an effective treatment choice for chronic low back pain.

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common health complaints in the community. About 80 percent of adults have experienced this condition. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted at the Ulos Sianipar Gallery onAugust 2021. The population in this study were all weavers who worked at the Ulos Sianipar Gallery Medan as many as 54 people by using the slovin formula obtained sample of 48 people. Data was collected through a questionnaire, specifically for work attitudes with the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method, carried out with the help of cameras, bows and worksheets. The results showed that individual factors: age (p=0.003), body mass index (p=0.044) and length of work (p=0.022); work environment factors: work duration (p=0.020) and rest time (p=0.018); and work factors: workload (p=0.001) and work attitude (p=0.001) have a relationship with LBP on weavers at Galeri Ulos Sianipar Medan. It is recommended for business owners to adjust the position of the thread on the weaving machine to the sitting position of the worker so that it does not require the worker to raise his hand higher, the weaver is advised to reduce or avoid awkward postures such as bending over which can cause muscle fatigue due to frequent or repetitive weaving.
