ABSTRAK Praktik pengobatan sendiri atau swamedikasi di Kalimantan Selatan relatif tinggi. Masyarakat pelaku swamedikasi sangat rentan menggunakan obat tidak rasional disebabkan tidak adanya pemberian informasi penggunaan obat yang benar. Beberapa metode dapat diimplementasikan sebagai sarana Apoteker untuk mengedukasi masyarakat terkait penggunaan obat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peningkatan pengetahuan ibu rumah tangga di daerah bantaran sungai Kemuning Banjarbaru akan penggunaan obat setelah diberikan intervensi oleh Apoteker dalam bentuk CBIA dan booklet. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian non-ekperimental dengan desain penelitian cross-sectional yang dilakukan terhadap 33 responden kelompok CBIA dan 30 responden kelompok booklet. Tingkat pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi diukur dengan menggunakan kuisioner. Rata-rata skor pretest kelompok CBIA dan booklet adalah 3.67 dan 5.43, sedangkan rata-rata skor post-test kelompok CBIA dan booklet adalah 6.87 dan 8.97 (p<0.01). Perbandingan rata-rata peningkatan skor pengetahuan setelah intervensi CBIA adalah 3.21 ± 2.47 dan booklet adalah 3.53 ± 1.89 (p=0.567). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa model intervensi CBIA dan booklet dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan penggunaan obat secara signifikan, dan kedua metode tersebut sama baiknya untuk digunakan sebagai metode intervensi apoteker dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan pasien akan pengobatan. Kata kunci: CBIA, booklet, pengetahuan, obat, Apoteker  ABSTRACT The self-medication practice in South Kalimantan is relatively high. People who are self-medicated are very vulnerable to irrational drug use because there is no provision of information on the correct drug use. Several methods can be implemented by pharmacists to educate the public regarding drug use. This study aims to evaluate the increase in drug use knowledge of housewives in the Kemuning riverbank area of Banjarbaru after being given intervention by Pharmacists in the form of CBIA and booklets. This research is a non-experimental study with a cross-sectional research design conducted on 33 CBIA group respondents and 30 respondents booklet groups. The level of knowledge before and after the intervention was measured using a questionnaire. The average pretest scores of CBIA and booklet groups were 3.67 and 5.43, while the average post-test scores of CBIA and booklet groups were 6.87 and 8.97 (p <0.01). Comparison of the average increase in knowledge score after CBIA intervention was 3.21 ± 2.47 and the booklet was 3.53 ± 1.89 (p = 0.567). It can be concluded that CBIA and booklet intervention models can significantly improve knowledge of drug use, and both methods are equally good for use as pharmacist intervention methods in increasing patient knowledge of treatment. Keywords: CBIA, booklet, knowledge, medicine, pharmacist

Background: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus is known to cause COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019), and it is rapidly spreading throughout the world that it is declared as a global pandemic. Hand hygiene is widely promoted as it is recommended to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Contact dermatitis is one of the risks of hand hygiene campaign during the COVID-19. Purpose: This study aimed to assess the parents' level of knowledge before and after health education about contact dermatitis due to hand hygiene. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, and the data was collected via questionnaires. This study involved 53 respondents. Result: There was a significant increase in respondents' knowledge level after being educated (Wilcoxon test, p=0.000), as evidenced in the mean score of pre-test and post-test evaluation. Conclusion: To lower the incidence, education on contact dermatitis prevention due to hand hygiene during the COVID-19 pandemic is required.

Objective: This study was conducted with the aim to assess the knowledge and attitude of self-medication practices among the residents of an urban community. Methods: A cross-sectional, observational study was conducted among 270 participants for the duration of 6 months using a semi-structured questionnaire which consisted of the domains of knowledge and attitude. Logistic regression was used for drawing statistical inferences. Results: The prevalence of self-medication was found to be 37.04%. It was found that 73.33% of the respondents were aware of the term “self-medication” and their major source for information was obtained through acquaintances (44.44%). About 68.55% of the participants agreed that self-medication is a part of taking care of oneself and it needs to be encouraged. Overall, the participants had a good knowledge and positive attitude toward the practice of self-medication. Conclusion: This study mainly focuses on improving the subjects’ knowledge, thereby bringing changes in the attitude and practice toward disease management. Understanding the subjects’ level of knowledge and attitude will enable a more efficient process for creating an awareness among the public to ensure its safe and responsible use.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is preventable and treatable disease state characterized by air flow limitation that is not fully reversible. Severity of the symptoms is increased during exacerbations. Objectives: The purpose of the study is to assess and improve the knowledge regarding COPD among study subjects. Materials and Methods: A Cross-sectional interventional study was carried out among the peoples in selected areas of the Chitradurga city for a period of six months. Result: A total 207 subjects enrolled in the study in that 155 male and 52 females. In our study mean score of post test was more (5.87±1.68) when compare to pre-test (2.63±1.46) which show significant increase in their knowledge after educating them (p=0.000). A total of 207 subjects were enrolled into the study. SPSS Software was used to calculate the statistical estimation. Paired t-test was used to detect the association status of different variables. Conclusion: The relatively good level of COPD awareness needs to be maintained to facilitate future prevention and control of the disease. This study had identified that negative illness perceptions should be targeted, so that they will not avoid patients from seeking for COPD treatment and adhere to it. Abstract Background The third Sustainable Development Goal for 2030 development agenda aims to reduce maternal and newborn deaths. Pregnant women’s understanding of danger signs is an important factor in seeking timely care during emergencies. We assessed knowledge of obstetric danger signs using both recall and understanding of appropriate action required during obstetric emergencies. Methods This was a cross-sectional study among pregnant women attending antenatal clinic at Bhutan’s largest hospital in Thimphu. Recall was assessed against seven obstetric danger signs outlined in the Mother and Child Health Handbook (7 points). Understanding of danger signs was tested using 13 multiple choice questions (13 points). Knowledge was scored out of 20 points and reported as ‘good’ (≥80%), ‘satisfactory’ (60–79%) and ‘poor’ (< 60%). Correlation between participant characteristics and knowledge score as well as number of danger signs recalled was tested using Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Association between knowledge score and participant characteristics was tested using t-tests (and Kruskal-Wallis test) for numeric variables. Socio-demographic and clinical characteristics associated with the level of knowledge ('good’ versus ‘satisfactory’ and ‘poor’ combined) were assessed with odds ratios using a log-binomial regression model. All results with p < 0.05 were considered significant. Results Four hundred and twenty-two women responded to the survey (response rate = 96.0%). Mean (±SD) knowledge score was 12 (±2.5). Twenty women (4.7%) had ‘good’ knowledge, 245 (58.1%) had ‘satisfactory’ knowledge and 157 (37.2%) had ‘poor’ knowledge. The median number of danger signs recalled was 2 (IQR 1, 3) while 68 women (20.3%) could not recall any danger signs. Most women were knowledgeable about pre-labour rupture of membranes (96.0%) while very few women were knowledgeable about spotting during pregnancy (19.9%). Both knowledge score and number of danger signs recalled had significant correlation with the period of gestation. Women with previous surgery on the reproductive tract had higher odds of having ‘good’ level of knowledge. Conclusions Most pregnant women had ‘satisfactory’ knowledge score with poor explicit recall of danger signs. However, women recognized obstetric emergencies and identified the appropriate action warranted.

Purpose – This article aims to examine the link between uncertainty and analysts' reaction to earnings announcements for a sample of European firms during the period 1997-2007. In the same way as Daniel et al., the authors posit that overconfidence leads to an overreaction to private information followed by an underreaction when the information becomes public. Design/methodology/approach – In this study, the authors test analysts' overconfidence through the overreaction preceding a public announcement followed by an underreaction after the announcement. If overconfidence occurs, over- and underreactions should be, respectively, observed before and after the public announcement. If uncertainty boosts overconfidence, the authors predict that these two combined misreactions should be stronger when uncertainty is higher. Uncertainty is defined according to technology intensity, and separate two types of firms: high-tech or low-tech. The authors use a sample of European firms during the period 1997-2007. Findings – The results support the overconfidence hypothesis. The authors jointly observe the two phenomena of under- and overreaction. Overreaction occurs when the information has not yet been made public and disappears just after public release. The results also show that both effects are more important for the high-tech subsample. For robustness, the authors sort the sample using analyst forecast dispersion as a proxy for uncertainty and obtain similar results. The authors also document that the high-tech stocks crash in 2000-2001 moderated the overconfidence of analysts, which then strongly declined during the post-crash period. Originality/value – This study offers interesting insights in two ways. First, in the area of financial markets, it provides a test of a major over- and underreaction model and implements it to analysts' reactions through their revisions (versus investors' reactions through stock returns). Second, in a broader way, it deals with the link between uncertainty and biases. The results are consistent with the experimental evidence and extend it to a cross-sectional analysis that reinforces it as pointed out by Kumar.

Background: The skill of intravenous cannulation must be practiced regularly to maintain a high level of competency. This is important to gain quick and efficient intravenous access in populations when required. The insertion of intravenous catheters into peripheral veins is probably the most commonly performed invasive medical procedure in hospitals. This procedure could be difficult sometimes requiring several attempts and causing distress to patients. The high success rates of nurses in intravenous cannulation have been due to the frequent performance of intravenous cannulation Objectives: 1. To assess the existing knowledge regarding intravenous cannulation among staff nurses working in selected hospital. 2. To observe the existing practice regarding intravenous cannulation among nurses. 3. To assess the effectiveness of lecture cum demonstration regarding Intravenous cannulation among staff nurses. 4. To observe the practice of staff nurses regarding intravenous cannulation after lecture cum demonstration. 5. To correlate the knowledge and practice of staff nurses regarding intravenous cannulation .Methodology: Pre experimental one group pre test post test design. Material: Structured knowledge questionnaire and Observational checklist adopted as per WHO guidelines.Sample size: 60. Result: Among the 60 samples, according to age, 39(65%)of subjects were of 21-30 years of age, 14(23.33%) were of 31-40 years, 7(11.67%) were of 41-50 years and no subjects were above 50 yearsAccording to the educational qualification, 38(58.33%) of the subjects were with the qualification of general nurse midwives, 12(20%) were B.sc nursing, 13(21.67%) were PB.B.sc Nursing.Majority of the subjects 45% have work experience of less than 2 years, 23.33% have 3-5 years, 20% have 6-8 years and 11.67% of them have work experience of more than 8 years In relation to area of work, 26.67% of the subjects each were from the Medicine ward and surgical ward, 21.66%were from Intensive care unit and 25% of them were from Casualty/Emergency ward. post test majority of the subjects gained Knowledge regarding intravenous cannulation. 34 (56.67%) subjects had good level of Knowledge score and 23(43.33%) subjects had average level of Knowledge. None of the samples have poor level of Knowledge. the post test the findings shows that 57(95%) subjects had satisfactory level of practice whereas only 3(5%) of subjects had unsatisfactory level of practice. The mean pretest knowledge score was 15.28 and post test knowledge score was 26.58. The mean practice score 7.61 and posttest practice score was 13.76. Student’s paired ‘t’ test is applied at 5% level of significance and The calculated‘t’ value for overall knowledge score of subjects was 35.51 and the calculated ‘t’ value for overall practice score of subjects was 23.44 that statistically interpreted that the lecture cum demonstration regarding intravenous cannulation was effective in increasing the Knowledge and practice of subject. There was significant association between selected demographic variable of year of experience with their pretest knowledge, whereas other demographic variables are not significantly associated.The correlation coefficient of post test knowledge and post test practice score was ‘r’ 0.21, which is indicates a positive correlation. Conclusion: The knowledge of the target population was significantly increased, and there was significant improvement in the level of practice after receiving lecture cum demonstration regarding intravenous cannulation. The improvement in knowledge and practice was found in all subjects irrespective of their demographic variable

Febrile seizure rate on toddler was quite high and tended to increase every year. This was because as toddler experiencing febrile seizures they were not properly handled by the parents. Febrile seizure in toddler if not treated quickly can affect the increasing in seizure frequency and can cause death. The capability of mother in handling febrile seizure must be based on the right knowledge of febrile seizure. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of the mother before and after health education based on 10 steps in handling febrile seizure on toddler in Bandar Lampung Adventist Hospital. Experimental research method with one group pretest-posttest designed with random sampling technique approach involving 80 mothers with 0 to 5 year old who had fever being hospitalized. The researchers prepared 10 images of steps in handling febrile seizures randomly and asked the respondents to arrange the pictures according to their knowledge. The results were observed to determine their knowledge rearranging as pretest data. Afterward, health education was given about 10 correct steps. Thereafter, reobserved was made and the knowledge in arranging 10 images was obtained as post test data. The knowledge score before health education was 20.75% and after was 83.75%. While the analytical test used paired t test. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge before and after health education. p value = 0.00 < 0.05. The results showed that the value of tcount (14.26) > t table (2.26). Increased knowledge in mothers reduced the risk of recurrence of febrile seizures in toddler and the nurse who had not tought these steps needed to run regularly to the mothers whose child was being hospitalized.

Tani Maju farmer group is one of the farming groups located in Rorotan Village, Cilincing District, North Jakarta City Administration. This group has a lot of sheep and advanced management. Despite they manage their sheep well, they are not well informed on how to manage the sewage from their castles (faces and urine). So far, they just throw away the sewage or gave them to fellow farmers. This study aimed to analyze the level of farmers' knowledge in making use of sheep's urine to be degraded into bio urine in the Maju Farmer group. Data was collected through the pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using paired t-test and Wilcoxon statistical software (IBM SPSS Statistics 25). The results of the study showed that farmers' knowledge in sewage (Urine) management increased; there is a significant difference in farmers' level of knowledge in bio urine production before and after bio urine extension.

Back ground: An experimental study was conducted to assess the effects of instructional teaching programme (ITP) on knowledge and practices of mothers regarding prevention of pneumonia in children, Pooncherry, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, India.Objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of ITP on prevention of pneumonia on level of knowledge and practices among mothers of under five children. Materials and Methods: Non probability purposive technique was adopted for this study. Samples who met inclusion criteria were participated in the study. Self-structured interview schedule for knowledge  and structured rating scale for practices were used to collect the data. Results: The study results shows that in the pre test 15.13 % of the mothers had adequate knowledge, 24.34 % of the mothers were had moderately adequate knowledge and 60.53 % of the mothers had inadequate knowledge and  and in post test 63.17% of mothers were had adequate knowledge, 28.94% of the mothers had moderately adequate knowledge and very few (8.55% ) mothers had inadequate knowledge. Pre test practices score shows that 63.82 % of the mothers had less desirable practice, 22.37% of the mothers had moderate desirable practices and 13.81% were had highly desirable practices whereas in the post test 63.82% of them had highly desirable practice, 23.03% of them had moderate desirable practices and 13.16% of them had less desirable practices. The mean pretest knowledge score was 5.45 ± 1.47 and the mean posttest knowledge score was 8.49 ± 0.71 and the t value was 15.17, it shows that statistically there was an improvement in the post test knowledge score. The mean pretest practice score was 22.38 ± 2.76, the mean posttest practice score was 43.64 ±1.97 and the t value was 13.35, it shows that statistically there was a significant improvement in the post test practice score. The instructional teaching programme on prevention of pneumonia was statistically effective in promoting the knowledge and desirable practices among mothers.

Introduction: Infertility is the global public health problem with adverse social and economic consequences. World Health Organization states that infertility affects 1 in every 10 couples worldwide. This study was carried out with an objective to find out the level of knowledge and belief regarding infertility among undergraduate students. Methods: This was a cross-sectional and quantitative study, carried out among 420 undergraduate students of 7 selected colleges of Pokhara Metropolitan city from July to September 2019. Study populations were selected through simple random sampling method. Data collection was carried out using self-administered questionnaire. Results: Study revealed that 51.9% students had good level of knowledge with the female students having greater knowledge (57%) than male (48%). The study found that students’ knowledge score related to infertility was significantly associated with gender (p<0.05) and parental advices (p<0.05). Conclusions: More than half of the participants had good level of knowledge. Female students were more knowledgeable than male students. Less than half of the participants had ever attended on sexual and reproductive training programs.
