<p>An increase in corn productivity is not always followed by an increase in farmer income and welfare. The sustainability of farms must be supported by its economic viability including the marketing aspect. This study aimed to analyze the marketing of corn in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. This research applied qualitative and quantitative methods. Marketing channel and marketing margin were analyzed descriptively, while farmer share was analyzed quantitatively using variance analysis (ANOVA). The results have shown three types of corn marketing channels, namely: 1) channel I, consisting of farmers-consumers, 2) channel II, covering farmers-collectors, traders-retailers and traders-consumers and 3) channel III, including farmers-collectors and traders- feed industries. Channel II has the highest marketing margin, followed by channel III and I, respectively. The intermediaries determine marketing costs that affect marketing margin and farmers’ shares. Channel I has the highest farmers’ shares, followed by channel III and channel II, respectively. The results of the significant difference test have revealed a difference in farmers’ shares in the marketing channels; and hence, the choice of marketing channel significantly determines the farmers’ shares. Therefore, farmers should shorten the marketing chain and strengthen their bargaining position by activating groups. Meanwhile, the government can play an active role so that farmers can have an access to strengthening capital and marketing.</p>

This research was carried out in Kusamba Village, Dawan District, Klungkung Regency. This study aims to find out to identify the salt kusamba marketing channel with the structure, conduct, performance (SCP) approach and analyze the marketing efficiency of kusamba salt. The data collected was analyzed with qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative methods are used to analyze marketing channels, structure, and market behavior, while quantitative methods are used to analyze market performance. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the salt marketing process is through 4 (four) marketing channels. The market structure that occurs in the marketing of kusamba salt is oligopsonia. Market conduct occurs when the practice of pricing is still dominated by intermediary traders. Market performance shows that the highest total marketing margin is found in marketing channel 3 and the highest farmer share is found in marketing channels 1. The analysis of salt marketing efficiency based on farmer 's share states that the marketing channel 1 is the most efficient and based on the total marketing costs of marketing channel 3 is the most efficient because the value of Marketing Efficiency (EP) is 44,44% or ? 50%. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyse the distribution channels of vegetable sectors in Indonesia, its economic impact on the performance of vegetable sales and the factors affecting marketing channels selected by producers. Design/methodology/approach The study employed qualitative and quantitative methods. A market survey was qualitatively conducted at producer, intermediary, wholesaler, hotel and food processing company as well as retailer levels. Producer survey was quantitatively conducted at the farm level, by interviewing 556 randomly selected farm households. Structural equation modelling was employed to accomplish the objectives of the study. Findings Marketing channels for vegetables in Indonesia was complex and relatively long. Farmers decided to select particular channels because of business circumstance and their knowledge. Distance and gentleman’s agreement with traders limited farmers to choose the desirable marketing channel. Marketing channels affect business performance in terms of high sales and profit. Research limitations/implications This study only pays attention to the supply side of vegetables. The effect of marketing channels also encumbers the consumers, which are beyond this study. Other studies are expected to highlight the consumer side. Originality/value This study focused on smallholder agribusiness players. This study uses two surveys as data sources: market survey and producer survey. The market survey serves as vital information to design producer surveys.

Mangosteen prices are determined by traders who tend to speculate, causing a weak bargaining position for farmers. Prices are determined unilaterally by traders, making farmers position only as price takers. Mangosteen marketing efficiency analysis needs to be done so that it can discover the cause of the low bargaining power of farmers and price fluctuations and the level of efficiency in each marketing channel. The study aims to analyze the marketing functions, costs, and the marketing efficiency of mangosteen fruit in Pulau Rambai Village, Kampa District, Kampar Regency. The method used is a survey method. Farmer sampling in this study used a simple random sampling method, and as for the traders, samples were taken by census method. The data analysis used is descriptive and quantitative. The results of the study highlight that the marketing functions carried out by each marketing institution are the exchange function, physical function, and facility functions. The exchange function is carried out in the form of a sale and purchase function. Physical functions is performed in the form of packaging, transportation and storage functions. The function of the facilities carried out in the forms of the activities of sorting and grading, financing, risk management, and market information. There are two mangosteen marketing channels in Desa Rambai Island. The most efficient marketing channels are determinedby thecalculation of marketing costs and marketing efficiency. The most efficient chaanel in this study is marketing channel number two.

Parigi Moutong is one of cocoa production center in the Central Sulawesi province. The problem faced by cocoa farmers in Parigi Moutong is the weak bargaining position of farmers in the price determination. The purpose of this study is to analyze cocoa beans market structure, conduct and performance at Parigi Moutong district. The methods used are market concentration and exit barriers to analyze market structure; market conductand farmer share and marketing margin to analyze market performance. The results show that the market of cocoa beans has four marketing channels which the highest total margin is on 2nd channel (Rp 25 465 and oligopsony structure. The most efficient marketing channel is channel 3 with 58.01 percent of farmer share. One of alternatives to increase farmer’s bargaining position in determining the cocoa price is by improving the cocoa quality through fermentation. This can be conducted by the farmer empowerment systematically and sustainably.

Children with disabilities (CWDs) are one of the most marginalised and excluded groups in the society. Facing daily discrimination in the form of negative attitudes, lack of adequate policies and legislation, they are effectively barred from realising their rights to healthcare, education and even survival. It has been estimated that exposure towards all forms of violence against CWDs is four-time greater than that of children without disabilities. Bangladesh has an estimated 7–10 million CWDs (out of a total of 72 million children, World Health Organisation Report). Most of the time, these children are treated as a burden to their families or the community and thus become subject to violence. There are very few specialised institutions with residential facility to take care of them. So, they are institutionalised in general residential institutions at a significantly higher rate than other children. But both the special and general residential institutions have lack of skilled human resources and knowledge of the special situation and needs of CWDs. Peer groups of the CWDs are also less sensitised, which result in further stigma and discrimination of CWDs. A 2010 study was done by the Ministry of Women and children Affairs. The findings from interviews with adolescents’ aged 13–16 in 12 locations of Dhaka City revealed their extreme vulnerability. In 2010, a study by Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation that conducted a survey supported by the Save the Children Sweden–Denmark found that 51.4% of CWDs are either at risk of sexual abuse (12.5%) or have been sexually abused (38.9%).The government of Bangladesh has taken a number of legislative and policy steps that indicate commitment to advancing the rights of persons with disabilities. In terms of international instruments, Department of Social Services under Ministry of Social Welfare operates various types of institutions for the children and also CWDs. The study will adopt qualitative and quantitative methods to collect information from both primary and secondary sources and also assess the situation of government non-government organisations/religious institutions where CWDs have residential facilities in order to understand which factors contribute to increased vulnerability of these children.

Purpose – The study uses survey data obtained in Jiangsu province, China, in June and August of 2012 to analyse the causal relations between aquatic farmers' relationship networks and trust, specific asset investments, joining in cooperatives and modern marketing channels participation. Design/methodology/approach – The authors used the structural equation mode to analyze the variables' causal relationships. Findings – The research results show that Chinese aquatic farmers' relationship networks can positively impact their participation in modern channels through the mediators of trust, specific assets investments and joining in cooperatives. Research limitations/implications – Two constructs are measured by a single item. Further study to incorporate multi-item constructs would be valuable. Practical implications – The policy implication is that the government should pay attention to farmers' relationship networks and can provide them with more public goods, especially channel and price information, to assist their evaluations and decision-making, which can help them to access modern marketing channels. Originality/value – The authors gave the answers that whether farmers' relationship networks affect their marketing channel selection decision and the function mechanism.

The main problem addressed by this study was the implementation of inclusive child friendly primary schools policy in Nyandarua County. The Inclusive Child Friendly Schools (CFS) policy has become the vehicle through which the government is providing quality education for all children in school by creating a learning environment where all children can learn, all children want to learn, and all children feel included in the classrooms and schools. However, studies show that the conditions in schools are not adequately adapted to accommodate the diversity of learners and even many more children of school going age are left out of school. These challenges generated the objectives of the study which were to examine the practice in public primary schools in line with the inclusive CFS policy and suggestion of appropriate strategies for implementation of inclusive CFS in public primary schools. To achieve this, the study utilized a descriptive survey using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Data collection instruments entailed questionnaires, interview schedule, focus group discussions, observation schedule and document analysis which were first piloted to improve validity and reliability and the accruing data was then analyzed thematically as per the study objectives. The findings of the study indicated that there was a substantial gap between CFS policy expectations and its actual day to day practice in the schools. Schools had the CFS messages engraved but had not made a significant alteration in the line with the policy. From these study findings, the paper presented several policy recommendations including adopting CFS policy to internal contexts so that individual schools look for ways of developing and utilizing selfassessment indicators of CFS at the school levels. Though the area of CFS is relatively new, it was hoped the study could shed light on the way forward for inclusive child friendly school programme in Kenya.

This study attempts to investigate through causal-comparative research whether socio-scientific argumentation processes of prospective science teachers (PSTs) who had high and low socio-scientific argumentation skills differed from each other in terms of metacognition. The research was conducted with a total of 45 PSTs, 24of whom had high socio-scientific argumentation skills, and 21 had low socio-scientific argumentation skills. Data were gathered using qualitative and quantitative methods. Research results indicated that the PSTs with high socio-scientific argumentation skills displayed more metacognitive behaviors when compared to the PSTs with low socio-scientific argumentation skills and that they used more metacognitive strategies with regard to many components such as planning, decision-making, evaluation, monitoring, and organizing. Furthermore, a statistically significant difference was detected between the scores of the PSTs' metacognitive awareness skills in favor of the PSTs with high socio-scientific argumentation skills. These results demonstrated that the two groups with different socio-scientific argumentation skills differed from each other in terms of metacognition and that the PSTs with high socio-scientific argumentation skills were better in regard with metacognition.

This paper employs qualitative and quantitative methods to test the theory of Philips Curve in Vietnam in the period between 2000 and 2014. The results show that the Philips Curve applies to the actual situation of the Vietnam’s economy, which is useful for both macro-economic planning by the Government and monetary policy making by the State Bank of Vietnam. The paper also suggests implications of an increased application of the Philips Curve to the economic policy management, thereby contributing to the stabilized socio-economic development in Vietnam

This research aims to find out the fumigation process (local: roa fish)and the added value of fumigation processing, and knowing the marketing channels for roa fish in Buajangka village, South Bungku District of Morowali regency in Central Sulawesi Province. Data collection in this research was carried out by census method to all people who conduct fumigation of smoked-baffled fish (roa fish) in Buajangka Village. The data were analysis through qualitative and quantitative descriptive approaches. The research results show that technically, the fumigation process for roa fish starts from receiving raw materials, washing, transporting, clamping and fixing clips, structuring, fumigation process, and packaging or packing. The added value generated from the cocoa fumigation business in Buajangka Village, South Bungku District in per bunch of roa fish is Rp. 6,082. The added value generated from the cocoa fumigation business in the study area was relative low with a value added ratio> 50% (40.54%). While the marketing channel of Roa's fish fumigation business sells smoked roa fish products directly to consumers and collectors who come from outside the region such as Kendari, Bungku Tengah, Tentena, Poso and Palu who come directly to the place of roa fumigation.
