The objective of the research is to find out the improvement of the student’s reading comprehension after the researcher applies Experience-Text-Relationship (ETR) Method at the tenth grade office administration students of SMK Negeri 1 Pinrang. The research design in this research was pre-experimental method with one group pre-test, treatment and post-test. The population in this research was the tenth grade students’ office administration students of SMK Negeri 1 Pinrang consist of 105 students. The sample of this research was Class X Ap2 consist of 35 students. The researcher used purposive sampling because the teacher of SMK Negeri 1 Pinrang recommended this class. The researcher applies 30 items of multiple choice test. The result of this research indicated the students’ mean score in pre-test is 34.54 and mean score in post-test is 87.08. It can be concluded that the rate percentage in post-test was higher than the rate percentage in pre-test in teaching reading. This showed that Experience-Text-Relationship (ETR) method can improved students’ reading comprehension. Based on the result finding, the t-test was greater than the value of t-table (5.12 ≥ 2.021). This showed that Experience-Text-relationship (ETR) Method can improve students’ reading comprehension.

This study aims to investigate the improvement students’ learning outcomes after the application of the experimental method in heat concept. The research design used was classroom action research with data collection techniques using observation sheets, tests, and student worksheets. The subjects of the study were students of class VII.1 of SMPN 7 Muara Bungo in the academic year 2019/2020 with 31 students. This research was conducted in three cycles, starting from October 28, 2019 to November 26, 2019. The results of this study indicate that the application of the experiment method can improve students’ learning outcomes in heat concept. Improved students’ learning outcomes can be seen from the average value, students' absorption capacity, and mastery learning from cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III. For the average value of students in cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III, are: 80, 85, and 88. For the absorption of students in cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III, are: 80%, 86% and 89%. As for mastery learning in cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III, are: 72%, 89%, and 94%.

Purpose This paper aims to report on a project to adapt existing material from some modules on sustainability delivered face-to-face by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science to create a non-credit bearing course in sustainability delivered on-line and available to all students at the University. A total of 250 staff and students signed up for the course, 104 completed at least one multiple choice test and 49 completed the essay assignment for the Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR) recognition. Feedback from students completing the evaluation questionnaire was overwhelmingly positive. The authors reflect on lessons learnt in preparing and delivering the course and the impact on university strategy. Design/methodology/approach The course was piloted in the 2014-2015 academic year. Findings A total of 250 staff and students signed up for the course; 104 completed at least one multiple choice test and 49 completed the essay assignment for HEAR recognition. Feedback from students completing the evaluation questionnaire was overwhelmingly positive. Originality/value The paper presents a case study of a bottom-up approach to the introduction of sustainability literacy modules on an institution-wide scale that has influenced changes at senior management level.

PurposeIn response to the growing need for educational leaders who possess ethical, critical and reflective qualities, a training program was developed based on ethics as a reflective critical capacity and on Starratt's three‐dimensional model. This paper aims to describe the impact of the program on ethical decision making and on educational leaders’ ethical competencies.Design/methodology/approachA three‐year action‐research study was conducted with three groups of educational administrators, totalling 30 participants. Mixed methods were used for data collection: a pre‐ and post‐training questionnaire, individual semi‐structured interviews and group interviews. The questionnaire data were analyzed using SPSS software and interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis.FindingsResults from the pre‐test indicate that, prior to the training program, participants rarely possessed all three ethical dimensions. Post‐test results show how participants experience a significant readjustment process characterized by three different stages which have been called the transformative cycle. Qualitative results show the impact of the training program on improved ethical awareness, judgement structuring, a sense of responsibility, and overall professional conduct. No significant difference is observed between male and female participants but statistically significant differences are found according to number of years of experience and to work situation.Practical implicationsDeveloping sound ethical expertise appears to be promising in training future educational administrators and in improving their leadership skills.Originality/valueThis study is original in many aspects. Theoretically, it is based on a self‐regulated rather than hetero‐regulated approach to ethics and calls for descriptive rather then normative foundations to ethical leadership. With regard to its methodology, it used mixed methods adapted to action research as well as original data collection instruments.

The study was designed to investigate the learning and retention of prose materials. Immediate and 1-wk retention was examined in Ss who had either read a 2,300-word passage (LP) on science fiction or a 300-word short passage (SP). The short passage was derived from the information retained over a 1-wk period by Ss who read and learned the long passage. Retention was assessed by a 30-item multiple-choice test based upon information in the long passage. One-way analysis of variance of posttest scores from 200 adults indicated that for 1-wk retention the short passage was retained significantly ( p < .01) better than the long one. There was no significant difference on immediate retention. The results were discussed in terms of current cognitive learning theory, prose-learning paradigms, and classroom procedures related to the presentation of new material.

Abstract: This study aims to explore the understanding of students' concepts based on the experience of authentic phenomenom-based learning in static fluid material. The method in this study using a mix method approach with embedded experimental model research design. The data were obtained based on the isomorphic multiple choice test and interview support. Through data analysis, the results of the calculation of N-Gain values were obtained which showed there was an increase in students' understanding of concepts in the medium category and the effect size in the low category. Qualitatively, after experiencing authentic learning based on the phenomenon of understanding concepts students experience changes that lead to understanding the correct concepts in each isomorphic.
