Reading has proven to be an important activity for human being. Hence, a librarian, as an information provider, should have a good reading interest. The research was aimed to examine the correlation between librarians reading interest and the development of Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University library. The research is of a quantitative one, using the librarians reading interest as an independent variable and the development of the library as a dependent one. The result of the research shows that there is a significant effect of the librarians reading interest toward the development of the university library. The result gives a quite high value of the librarians reading interest and the library development variable by a grand mean of 2,96 and 3.03 consecutively. The simple linear regression experiment using linear regression coefficient provides that Y=29,811 + 0,562X. The constant 29,811 means that if there is no increase in the librarians reading interest, the library development value is 29,811. While regression coefficient 0.562 provides that each increase of the librarians  reading interest raises the library development value by 0.562. The research puts recommendation that each librarian should be provided time to read book every day

The University Library at California State University, Stanislaus is not only undergoing a library building renovation, but a website redesign as well. The library conducted a user-centered usability study to collect data in order to best lead the library website “renovation.” A prototype was created to assess an audience-based navigation design, homepage content framework, and heading terminology. The usability study consisted of 38 student participants. It was determined that a topic-based navigation design will be implemented instead of an audience-based navigation, a search-all search box will be integrated, and the headings and menu links will be modified to avoid ambiguous library terminology. Further research on different navigation and content designs, and usability design approaches, will be explored for future studies.

The purpose of this paper was to determine the extent towhich undergraduates atBenue State University are aware of the OPAC, the extent of usage, the level of satisfaction derived from the usage and challengesencountered in the use of OPAC in the universitylibrary. The study was guided by four specific objectives and four research questions. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The populationconsisted of 9,864 undergraduate who registered with the library during 2017/2018 academic session. The sample sizewas 384 undergraduate students.Data was collected through a self-structured questionnaire. The data collected were analysed using frequency, percentages, mean and standard deviation. Thefindings revealedthat most of therespondents-232 (60.4%)-were not aware of OPAC services, only 152 (39.6%) respondents indicated theirawarenessof OPAC in retrievingneededlibrary materials. The study also showedthat the extent of OPAC use by undergraduateswas to a low extent and the students were dissatisfied with OPAC services; thattheundergraduates encountered several challenges which led to the low usage and dissatisfaction with the OPAC ofthe Benue State University Library. The study concludedthatthe creation of the OPACwas to facilitate retrieving information resources that had been acquired and organisedby the university library. However, poor awareness, improper orientation/training of studentsamong others have posedgreat challenge for its effective usage. The study therefore recommended that all the identified challenges be tackled by the university library management in order to enhance OPAC usage by thestudents.

Budgetary constraints associated with freezing of fees and limited government funding have increased the pressure to reform cost management strategies in state-funded South African universities. The main concern is that the data being generated in the allocation of overheads in universities is distorted and inaccurate. Activity based costing (ABC) could help solve these problems. However, there is a lack of empirical studies regarding the adoption and implementation of the ABC system in South African state universities. The aim of this study was to determine and analyse the factors that influence the adoption and implementation of ABC as a cost management strategy in a state university in SA, using Durban University of Technology (DUT) as a case study. A mixed methods approach was used which included a questionnaire and interviews. The study adopted the embedded mixed methods approach beginning with the quantitative method (questionnaires) that involved a detailed exploration of the current costing system used at DUT and the perceptions on the factors that facilitate or hinder the adoption and implementation of ABC. This was followed with the qualitative method that used semi-structured interviews conducted with employees from the finance and the selected academic departments. A detailed study was then carried out in the university library to determine activities, cost pools and cost drivers that could be used to develop an ABC model. The quantitative and qualitative data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) (version 25®) and NVivo, respectively. The study showed that DUT is using a traditional costing system. A uniform cost base (number of students) is being used to assign most of the overhead costs to respective programmes. The findings of this study indicated that ABC has not been adopted at DUT. There was little support on the adequacy, transparency and accuracy of the current overhead costing system. Despite these shortcomings of the current system, more than half of the respondents agreed that changing the overhead costing system is not a strategic priority in the university. Perceptions regarding ABC showed that five out of eight themes developed could assist in the adoption and implementation of the ABC system. Supportive factors that could positively influence the adoption and implementation of ABC at DUT included the organisational strategy, information technology, decision usefulness of cost information, contextual/environmental factors and the organisational structure. However, system adaptability, which included adequacy of skills, top management involvement and consensus about and clarity on the objectives of the ABC system, was considered a barrier to the adoption and implementation of ABC. There were mixed views on the technical factors as well as some behavioural and organisational factors. The perceptions investigated in the in-depth interviews revealed resistance to change emanating mainly from perceived complexity, associated prohibitive cost of implementing the ABC system and uncertainty of the long-term benefits of the ABC system. The detailed study in the university library showed that the activities recorded could be grouped into cost pools and activity-related cost drivers could be used to apportion services to university programmes. The information that could potentially be used to initiate ABC was, therefore, available. Based on this information, an ABC model was developed. Overall, the findings of the study help to understand the current overhead system at DUT as well as perceptions on the factors that influence the adoption and implementation of ABC. The information could inform strategic initiatives related to ABC and the model developed for the university library could be used as a template for a university-wide ABC implementation.

In terms of information and collection dissemination in order to realize the service for users, tailor service-a service to work on a patchwork of any lack of information necessity by library users-can be used to fulfill the need. In reality, no matter how big or how many amount of collection a library, it is still unable to fulfill the need of their users for their necessity diversity of information. Hence, mutual sharing and cooperation in a library network will help and complete each other for any lack of information or collection in one of library within the network. The collection capacity will be able to support the success of University Tri Dharma especially in order to elevate each study program of every faculty or in every department of the university. The library last paradigm is service, whether the library has successfully providing the necessity service or not is uncertain if the pressure point and its collection capacity are veiled. Therefore, it is important to plot and evaluate collection capacity for the sharing purpose. This knowledge of the library collection capacity will also help to prepare for further cooperation with another library which has collection capacity too. However, the question is whether the library of Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University has known its collection capacity? Thus, this is the importance of this research. Keywords: collection capacity, information, library
