ABSTRACT: Publication is a means to convey information that is expected to contribute positively to the development of scientific insight for a person. In college, scientific publications can be in the form of magazines, journals, or digital collections such as e-journals and e-books that are now an indispensable requirement to be used for teaching and learning process support or as creative activities of the entire academic community to generate ideas Fresh as research supporters. So it is not surprising if the library as a library of research by providing scientific publications that provide a variety of information. In subsequent developments appears more specialized repository collection to manage documents produced by an institution in this college with a literature gray literature that can be a typical document and, the books are rarely found in the book market and also Documents that are often called local content. Teaching and learning standards across the country are becoming more content driven, especially in mathematics.  As such, it is essential to develop substantive college level math courses for pre-service and in-service teachers.  These courses should deliver mathematical content in a relevant way.  Teachers must not only be proficient in their subject, but also recognize how to apply content meaningfully to student’s lives.  As part of a grant funded through the Department of Education in coordination with the Clark County School District, I have designed two college level courses that will deliver mathematical content standards to middle school teachers.  These courses will help prepare teachers at the middle school level by focusing on mathematical content, making connections within the curriculum, using technology, and enhancing the role of mathematics in everyday life and problem solving. The primary purpose of this paper is to share with the academic community the projects used to develop content understanding in mathematics topics such as:  mathematical notation, proportion, computation, estimation, linear regression, reflections, translations, finding relationships, and analyzing data.  This paper will present these projects, and tie them to mathematics standards outlined in the Clark County School District (and Nevada State) Standards.

Scientific publications enable results and ideas to be transmitted throughout the scientific community. The number and type of journal publications also have become the primary criteria used in evaluating career advancement. Our analysis suggests that publication practices have changed considerably in the life sciences over the past thirty years. More experimental data is now required for publication, and the average time required for graduate students to publish their first paper has increased and is approaching the desirable duration of Ph.D. training. Since publication is generally a requirement for career progression, schemes to reduce the time of graduate student and postdoctoral training may be difficult to implement without also considering new mechanisms for accelerating communication of their work. The increasing time to publication also delays potential catalytic effects that ensue when many scientists have access to new information. The time has come for life scientists, funding agencies, and publishers to discuss how to communicate new findings in a way that best serves the interests of the public and the scientific community.

This study reports on the experiences of teachers of the deaf and hard-of- hearing students in a special needs high school for the deaf in Eswatini. The study adopted a qualitative approach and was exploratory in nature. Participants comprised of eighteen (n =18) purposively sampled teachers of deaf and hard-of-hearing students. They participated in individual in-depth and focus group discussion interviews on the teaching and communication aspects with deaf and hard- of- hearing students. Data were also collected through documents review. Credibility and trustworthiness of data were established through member checks. Data were thematically analysed for important meanings. Teachers reported to experience gaps in professional competencies to teach the mainstream curriculum for which they needed further education. Variation in sign language impacting learner engagement hindered teachers’ communication with the deaf and hard-of-hearing students and their parents. Teachers reported to have in service professional training needs which included collaboration, consultation, assessment instruments and language skills. The findings have important implications for policy and practice in educating the deaf and hard- of- hearing students and for interpreting previous research. There is urgent need for the country to consider having a standardized sign language which could enhance positive teaching and learning outcomes as well as social integration for the future lives of these students. Understanding experiences of these teachers from the lived cultural milieu are important for the design and implementation of programmes for supporting the deaf and hard- of hearing learners, their teachers and parents.

IntroductionFor a country that lacks a national cervical cancer screening/prevention programme, there is the need to assess the volume of country-specific information, and the status of research on HPV and cervical cancer, in order to provide evidence that will inform policy and further research. The aim of this protocol is to plan an intended systematic review, which is to identify research gaps, prevent unnecessary duplication of work and enable collaboration. Methods and analysisThis protocol, developed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols statement and registered by PROSPERO (CRD42017075583), will apply a 13-point eligibility criteria to screening and selecting peer-reviewed research articles and grey literature. These will be obtained from searches in databases, including, among others, those of the National Centre for Biotechnology Information, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Google Scholar and the digital collections database of research publications of Universities in Ghana. Collected data will be aggregated and summarised according to emerging themes and simple descriptive statistics.Ethics and disseminationThe study will use publicly available data and will not identify authors of the publication by name. In light of these and as has been indicted, research ethics clearance is not required for evidence syntheses in such reviews. The review will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at local and internal conferences as the opportunity becomes available.PROSPERO registration numberCRD42017075583.

Pediatrics, the Academy's official journal, came into being in 1948. Its establishment signified the effort of the Academy and the pediatric academic community to create an outstanding scientific publication in the field of pediatrics. Through the past 25 years this goal was achieved and maintained under the editorial direction of three eminent and respected editors: Dr. Hugh McCulloch, Dr. Charles May, and Dr. Clement Smith. In the same period, there have been accomplishments in the publishing and management of the journal which have facilitated Academy objectives. Basic factors which sustain a scientific journal include scientific papers of high quality, the interest of authors in advancing and diffusing knowledge, and a broad readership supportive of the journal and the goals of the sponsoring society.
