This article is a review of the publication “Anthology on the Literature of Transbaikalia” (Chita, 2020). It is the first of its kind, intended for students to be used in the integrated course “Transbaikal studies”. The publication was funded by Genesis Company LLC, co-authored by O. E. Nadelyaeva, head of the Competence Development Center of Genesis Company. The anthology includes works by 25 authors from Transbaikalia, including well-known names as well as less familiar ones. The anthology is undoubtedly of interest not only to students, but also to a wide audience. However, the author of the review points out that some fundamental names of Transbaikal literature are left out of the edition: Avvakum, Fedor Baldauf, Alexander Cherkasov, Nikita Sakharov, Konstantin Sedykh, Vasily Balyabin, Zhamyan Baldanzhabon, Nikolay Yashchenko, Oleg Petrov and many others. Not only authors, but the whole periods of Transbaikal history, consecrated in literary works, have dropped out of the reader’s bibliography. Thus, there is not a single work about the time of revolutions, the Civil War, or even the Great Patriotic War (apart from poems). The author notes the discrepancy between the contents of this publication and the basic regional documents (the “Concept” and “Programme”) on the regional component of education, and the need for the educational authorities to monitor the quality of the educational literature. On the positive side, the readiness of private businesses to invest in the publication of educational literature is highlighted. This publication of textbook stands out against the general background of successful development of the integrated educational course “Transbaikal Studies”. Keywords: Transbaikal Region, anthology on the literature of Transbaikalia, Transbaikal writers, regional component of education, “Transbaikal Studies”

Abstract This article describes the relationship between the land use purpose conversion and households’ livelihoods in suburban Vinh City, Nghe An province. In the survey with 170 households losing their land to build the VSIP Nghe An industrial park project, this article shows the double impact of this issue. (1) On the positive side, households’ quality of life in the current period shows a significant improvement. They are living in better conditions with more spacious houses and modern facilities than before. The average income of households increased by 900 USD than before. (2) On the negative side, the unemployment rate increases with women older than 35 years and men older than 40 years. Along with the improper use of compensation received, income sustainability is a doubt for these households’ future.

This scientific article is devoted to some theoretical problems of the theory of the political system of society. The purpose of the article is to show the true, objective position in relation to the subjects of the political system. To solve this goal, the following tasks were set: a critical analysis of the opinions of those authors who consider as such: 1) criminal communities; 2) public organizations with an insignificant political aspect. Moreover, both in the first and in the second case, it has been proven that scientists are engaged in the substitution of concepts, that is, they commit a logical error. Result: 1) criminal associations are not subjects of the political system of society; 2) according to the political criterion, it is necessary to distinguish only proper political and not proper political organizations; 3) general theoretical provisions, opposite to those stated, differing in illogicality, do not contribute to improving the quality of educational literature on the theory of state and law.

Indonesia has a Muslim majority population and has two sources of education that both improve the quality of its citizens' educational resources. The author believes that the two sources, namely the Koran and the national education law, have strong relevance. To prove this assumption, we have conducted a series of studies of educational literature on many literature data published in various educational journals, both national and international. We found the data source through an electronic search on many journals, books, and websites that actively discuss religious and national education issues. After the collection of literature, we further examined the data evaluation system involved in the coding of conclusions drawn after high interpretation to obtain data that answered questions validly and reliably. Based on the data and discussion, we find a high relevance between the messages in the Koran and the goals of national education in Indonesia. It is hoped that this finding will become an essential input for improving educational science that links religious messages and national education.

The increased prevalence of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has intensified the need for high-quality special education services designed for children and youth with ASD and their families. Implementation science provides guidance for moving innovation, such as utilizing evidence-based practices for students with ASD, into regular practice in schools. The National Professional Development Center on ASD (NPDC) incorporated the principles of implementation science, the scientific knowledge about evidence-based practices, and the measurement of program quality into an intervention approach for students with ASD. This article presents the NPDC model as an example of using implementation science to build systems of professional development that increase the quality of services and promote teachers’ use of evidence-based practices.

AbstractSpurred by Kilpatrick’s (1987) “Where do good problems come from?”, this study explores problem-posing triggers of experienced problem posers for mathematics competitions. Triggers are conceived as instances of noticing, where an impulse draws a poser’s attention and “triggers off” a mathematical re-action, one of the outcomes of which is a creation of a problem that gets accepted to some mathematics competition. The data were collected from 26 problem posers residing in nine countries, and who had experience in creating problems for national, regional, and international competitions. Three types of triggers emerged from the analysis: (i) Instances where the participants extracted mathematical phenomena from activities that are replete with modern elementary mathematics. These triggers were described in emotionally loaded terms that resonated with appreciation, surprise, challenge, and feeling of innovation. (ii) Cases where the participants abstracted mathematical phenomena from common everyday-life tasks in which mathematical optimization was beneficial. These situations emphasized participants’ desire to compensate for self-disappointment with an initially made decision and the value of finding a better alternative. (iii) Situations where the participants were asked to pose a problem ‘here and now’. The posers were unanimous in their dislike of such situations. They elaborated on how difficult it is to pose ‘here and now’ and highlighted the low quality of the resulting problems. The findings are situated in the body of knowledge on expert problem posing and educational literature on school students and teachers.

In The Paideia Proposal, the success of our schools is closely linked not only to the success of our political, social, and economic institutions, but also to their survival. According to Mortimer Adler, public schools do not simply reflect social upheaval and shifting values; they cause many of these fundamental changes. On the negative side, the failure to challenge and stimulate students in the classroom "leads to boredom, delinquency, lawless violence, drug dependence, alcoholism, and other forms of undesirable conduct" (p. 36). The "abominable discrimination" of the tracking system threatens the quality of citizenship and the democratic process (p. 15). On the positive side of this potential to alter society, school reform will lead to a properly "educated electorate,"which in turn will ensure "innovative leadership" and the likelihood of our solving our national problems. According to the Proposal, the reformed public schools will "carry us over the threshold" to an "earthly paradise." The brick building at the end of the block is the primary actor in this drama, both the villain and the hero (pp. 77-79).

Mass concrete is widely being used in the construction field, especially for the foundation of super high-rise building. In the initial stage of pouring completion of mass concrete, lots of heat generated from the cement hydration will lead to a high temperature inside of concrete. When the temperature difference between the inner and outer of concrete exceeds the limited value, thermal stress will be greater than the tensile strength of concrete, which may cause hazardous penetrating cracks of the structure. To ensure the safety and durability of concrete structure, necessary measures should be taken to control the temperature rise and construction quality of concrete. Taking a super high-rise building project as an example, this paper introduces several effective solutions to resolve above problems. The technical measures such as enhancing the concrete quality, controlling temperature rise, strengthening temperature monitoring would be detailed illustrated. Meanwhile, valuable suggestions achieved from this practical project are proposed in order to guide the structural design and on-site construction of similar projects.

COre and System INtegrated Engine for design and analysis (COSINE) is developed by State Nuclear Power Software Development Center (SNPSDC), which is an integrated nuclear engineering code package. A lattice physics code named COSLATC is an essential part included in COSINE. COSLATC is a multi-group two-dimensional transport code. Pin cells and assemblies of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) can be calculated by COSLATC. It is used to calculate few group constants and nuclei densities for core simulator. In order to make sure the quality of the COSLATC, a strategy of verification & validation (V&V) are discussed and applied to the COSLATC. Firstly a V&V requirement analysis is performed. A test matrix considering the variety of fuel enrichments, materials, geometric and working conditions is generated. Then the corresponding benchmark is collected and classified. Finally, the numerical results of COSLATC and the reference values are compared and analyzed. According to the validation strategy discussed above, the preliminary validation is carried out. The benchmark provides consistent and comprehensive tests for high burnup (approx. 70GWd/t) fuels of PWR. By comparison with k-infinity and isotopic composition in the UO2 and MOX fuels pin cell problems or assembly problems benchmark, the result shows that the calculated results from COSLATC code agree well with reference results. COSLATC will be an important lattice calculation code in the scientific calculation and engineering application.

This essay is a review of Ronald Dworkin's recent essay on equality of resources (Dworkin, 1981b). Many of the ideas discussed by Dworkin have also been examined by economists with, I believe, considerable insight. Unfortunately, economists tend to write for economists, not for philosophers, and their insights are seldom communicated properly to noneconomists. Of course, the same criticism can be levied on philosophers! But perhaps legal theorists are less subject to this criticism. One of the great contributions of Dworkin is that he is very readable; and the quality of his exposition makes these ideas accessible to a wide audience of philosophers, lawyers, and social scientists in general.
