The paper is aimed to rank countries similar in terms of selected diagnostic variables: in terms of digital competencies held and variables related to the youth professional activity. The method of descriptive and statistical analysis, including comparative analysis, is used in the study. The paper also uses cluster analysis. The conducted analysis included the empirical material referring to the youth at the age of 15-29 taken from the Eurostat database. The research period is 2011–2019. The analysis by type of educational and professional activity of young people conducted in the EU member countries allowed the identification of four groups of countries, differing in the levels of both the NEET rate (Neither in employment nor in education or training) and the digital skills. The digital skills have been additionally grouped into competences in the field of information, communication, problem-solving and programming skills. The group of countries with the lowest NEET rate proved to include those where young people presented high levels of digital skills in all the dimensions analyzed. The study shows that acquiring digital competencies enables young people to participate in communities and gives them a better chance for professional activity.

The main reason for the inefficiency of the system of valeological training of specialists in higher education institutions is that a set of its components isn‟t defined today (structure, content, form, term of study, blocks of disciplines, etc.), mutual relations aren‟t built between them, which ensure integrity, consistency and development. One of the greatest achievements of humanities and natural sciences of the end of the ХХ century and the beginning of the ХХІ century is the adoption of a humanitarian paradigm that includes a multidimensional definition of health as physical, social, economic and creative well-being. At the same time, a key role in its creation is assigned, firstly, to the person himself, secondly, near medical fields: professional activity, recreation, education, etc. Teachers should recognize: although educational activity is the main one in childhood and early youth, nevertheless other areas of life should be under the control of parents, teachers and, most importantly, young people themselves, not forcibly, but consciously and naturally.

In the article, the Author analyses all EU-related tasks in Polish matriculation exam in civic education from the years 2010–2019. The empirical material also includes the rules for assessing tasks’ solutions and exam reports. The level of civic knowledge of young people is not high, but the knowledge about EU-related issues is even worse (it was confirmed that in each type of matriculation exam results of the EU-related tasks were in general lower than the average result of the entire exam in civic education). The analysis also demonstrates that the population of those who pass the „new exam” exam in civic education is qualitatively weaker than the population of those who pass the „old exam”, however, in the EU-related tasks these differences are smaller than the difference in the results of both exam’s formulas (it was confirmed that generally the level of solutions of EU-related tasks in the „new exam” is lower than in the „old exam”, but to a lesser extent than the difference between the average results of these both types of exams).

The development of nursing largely associated with the expansion of the functions of nurses is a response to the challenges of professional activity due to the development of technology, improvement of diagnostic and treatment and rehabilitation work, both in primary health care and in medical institutions of the second and third levels. However, the system of training and professional development, the management of medical institutions does not fully take into account these new challenges. To determine the strategies influencing the formation of research competencies among nurses and their development vectors, the authors conducted a survey of 486 nurses and a sociological survey of 80 nurses, reflecting the need for mastering digital skills. Professional competencies of nurses have been established to be in demand, and the management of medical institutions is not focused on motivating them to participate in clinical nursing research. The participation of nurses in clinical research was shown to expand the range of knowledge, contributes to the formation of their communicative and digital competencies, forms leadership skills

The present research featured the readiness of university and high school students for distance learning as a means of improving their digital skills. The survey was conducted in October 2020 and involved 807 students from schools and universities of Nizhny Novgorod aged 14–24 (M=18, SD=2.22; 62.6 % female, 37.4 % male). Six focus groups included 63 students aged 17–24 (M=18, SD=1.83; 65 % female, 35 % male). The study showed that the readiness of young people for distance learning depended on their awareness of how digital technologies changed human life during the pandemic. The research revealed four types of young people with different attitudes to distance learning. Awareness of the impact of digitalization appeared to be a powerful motivator for the use of distance learning to develop digital competencies. The constraining factors included emotional and volitional immaturity, orientation to hedonistic values, confidence in one’s own digital competence, and skepticism regarding the ability of distance education to promote professional development.

The European report "Bulgaria - Health Profile for the Country 2017" reflects statistics on the obesity and immobilization of young people in the country. Although adult obesity levels are below the EU average, they have increased by 25% since 2008, with statistics showing that among young people they have risen by two-thirds in the 2005-2006 and 2013- 2014 and have reached 20%. Also, more than half of Bulgarian pupils in 1-12 grades (51%) are extremely immobilized, one of the reasons being rare visits to physical education classes and lack of interest in additional sport outside compulsory schooling. Separately, every third grader in Bulgaria has a problem with extra pounds, although in most cases it is the parents who refuse to accept that their child needs change and help, not to mention a strict diet and encouragement to exercise sports. More than 50% of the children who crossed the classrooms for the first time this year in Bulgaria are already having vertebral distortion. Only 3% of Bulgarian teenagers say they sometimes go to the gym because they want to look good and build up muscle mass. However, a positive aspect is that a higher percentage of girls and boys at 15 years of age in Bulgaria report regular physical activity than in other EU countries, although less than 25% report moderate exercise intensive physical activity on a daily basis. This study aims to analyze, on the basis of an authoritative survey, the opinions and the vision of active training parents as to whether their children should be attending fitness training. The survey was conducted within 2 months through an online survey of 21 questions, with a total of 187 active sporting parents. Questions concern both the sporting aspects, the healthy diet and the overall condition of the child, through the eyes of his/her parents.

Background: Use of snus and snus-like nicotine products is increasing, in particular among young people, in several Nordic countries and Estonia, while snus is legally on the market only in Sweden and Norway. Snus is available in a great variety of tastes and packaging particularly catering for young users. Recently, strong snus-resembling nicotine pouches have emerged on the market. This research investigates the regulatory means to counteract this development. Methods: European Union (EU) and national tobacco control legislation, case law of the European Court of Justice (CJEU) and relevant public health studies are analysed. Results: The research finds that the judgement of the CJEU relating to the sale of snus on Finnish ferries has not been enforced. Permitted large traveller imports for personal use have contributed to wide availability of snus in Finland. Even if the legislation in Sweden is in conformity with the exemption it obtained in the Accession Treaty, the public health impact of snus use for young people in its neighbouring countries has become considerable. Nicotine pouches, -which are not regarded as medical products in terms of medicine legislation, lack harmonised EU-wide regulation. Controlling smuggling across open borders is challenging. Conclusions: The legislation at the EU and national levels should be able to protect young people from new tobacco and nicotine products. It is urgent to harmonise regulation relating to new tobacco and nicotine products taking as a base a high level of protection of health as required in the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU.

The pandemic crisis and the linked infodemic are extraordinary cases to test the EU capability to manage the disinformation disorder, especially towards young people. This paper aims to analyse the impact of the EU communicative actions regarding disinformation about Covid-19, on trust and sense of belonging in young Italian and Spanish university students. The research presents an exploratory and quantitative study that uses a second-generation multivariate analysis method. The results show that trust can be very well the resource on which EU communicative actions may positively impact. Nevertheless, our study reveals that the EU in-stitutions measures have not increased sense of belonging in EU integration.

Continuous education today is a major feature of modern society. In order to ensure the competitiveness of future professionals who obtain higher education within the walls of the Institutions of Higher Education, the education process should be aimed at ensuring a high level of professional knowledge as well as the formation of graduates' adaptability to changeable modern production.  Since for a future engineer knowledge of higher mathematics is the basis for solving complex problems of a production nature, it can be argued that they are part of professional mobility. The implementation of technologies for the formation of professional mobility in higher mathematics has made it possible to note that the readiness to change activities can be considered not only in the context of changing professional activity, but also in the process of students’ educational activity. And this, in turn, made it possible to determine the «mathematical mobility». The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate and practically test the methods of forming mathematical mobility of future engineers in higher mathematics classes. The experiment used competency-oriented tasks, test tasks in higher mathematics, built on the basis of Bloom's taxonomy, developed interactive methods for conducting practical classes in the process of studying higher mathematics. The results of the experiment showed the effectiveness of the proposed innovative technologies in the process of fundamental training of future engineers.
