<pre><em><span lang="IN">Moderate Islamic discourse began to develop in Indonesia in early 2015. One such discourse is Islam Wasatiyah. Using the historical method of thought, this article answers three questions. First, the historical background of the Wasatiyah Islamic discourse in Indonesia. Second, Wasatiyah Islam which was conceptualized by religious organizations and Indonesian Muslim scholars. Two important subjects that introduced Wasatiyah Islam in Indonesia are the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) and Azyumardi Azra. Third, at almost the same time, the Wasatiyah Islamic discourse competed against Islamic moderatism with other Indonesian Islamic discourses, such as the Islam of the Nahdaltul Ulama and the Advancing Islam of Muhammadiyah. This article finds the correlation between Wasitiyah Islamic discourse in Indonesia and Wasatiyah Islam which originated from the ideas of Malaysian intellectual, Mohammad Hashim Kamali. Wasatiyah Islam in Indonesia, as initiated by Mohammad Hashim Kamali, gave rise to a moderate and tolerant Islam which was based on the values contained in Islam. Like fertile land, Indonesian Islam has indeed become a nursery and contestation of various Islamic discourses, both from Indonesia and abroad. In this article it is also found that a massive support base will mainstream the discourse itself. Therefore, the Wasatiyah Islamic discourse does not have sufficient resonance for the breeding of Islamic moderation in Indonesia, and is drowning in the midst of other Islamic discourses.</span></em></pre>

Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis kondisi sosial-ekonomi masyarakat Tatar Sunda pada abad ke-5 hingga abad ke-16. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode sejarah yang meliputi empat tahapan kerja, yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi.  Hasil dari kajian ini adalah bahwa wilayah Tatar Sunda memiliki potensi ekonomi yang  sangat tinggi. Hal ini dimungkinkan berkat faktor-faktor geografis. Tatar Sunda memiliki tanah yang sangat subur dan bisa ditanami oleh beragam jenis tanaman, termasuk tanaman ekspor yang sangat laku di pasar internasional. Di samping itu, wilayah Tatar Sunda pun cukup strategis karena memiliki banyak pelabuhan yang bisa dijadikan akses ke luar dan masuknya barang dan orang dari dalam dan luar Tatar Sunda.This article aims to analyze the socio-economic conditions of the Tatar Sunda community in the 5th to the 16th century.The method used is a historical method that includes four stages of work, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography.The result of this study is that the Tatar Sunda region has very high economic potential.This is possible because of geographical factors. Tatar Sunda has very fertile land and can be planted by various types of plants, including export crops needed on the international market.In addition, the Tatar Sunda region is also quite strategic because it has many ports that could be used as access to the outside and the entry of goods and people from inside and outside the Tatar Sunda.

In the scholarly thoughts, some recognized Muslim scholars are among them: Nashr Hamîd Abû Zayd, Zia Ghokap, Muhammad Syahrûr, Amina Wadûd, and Hassan Hanafî. They were known for their brilliant ideas and theories in perceiving problems and finding ways out of the problems related either to Islamic affairs and the Muslims or even for the welfare of the whole humankind. The ideas that they offered through writings become inspirations and triggers to Islamic development to compete with the West. It is relative to consider one’s idea as extraordinary or ordinary. In this case, Hassan Hanafi, as one of Muslim scholars, tried to offer an idea popularly known as “al-Yasâr al-Islâmî” or “Islamic Left”. The idea proposed in the “Islamic Left” is an effort to bring back Islam and the Muslims to the previous golden era by eliminating every threat to Islam. This revolution is based on three main considerations: revitalization of classical literature, reality of Islamic world and the needs to fight against western civilization. This article is intended to trace the path of the existence of “Islamic Left” developed by Hassan Hanafî from historical background, terminology, school of thoughts, and Hassan Hanafî’s way of thinking.

Introduction: This paper analyzes the formation and development of major medieval settlements that emerged in the 14th–16th century within the boundaries of the modern Bakhchysarai. We studied written and archaeological sources to examine the evolution and structure of these settlements, and provide a general overview of the surviving architectural ensembles and landmarks. Bakhchysarai, the former capital of the Crimean Khanate, is one of those Crimean settlements where the medieval planning structure of the old town and the original organic links to the natural landscape survive to this day. Purpose of the study: We aimed to identify the historical background and specifics of how the Old Town and the surrounding historical complexes formed in Bakhchysarai. Our research involved examining historical, archaeological, and contemporary scientific sources and written media, as well as selecting and analyzing theoretical works, normative documents, and architectural designs relevant to the subject at hand. When making a systemic summary of the data that we examined, we used the following methods: structural and functional analysis, synthesis, deduction, generalization, and the comparative historical method. Results: Our findings show that, at the early stages of statehood in the Crimean Khanate, several settlements thrived in the region: Eski Yurt, which started out as a cultural, administrative, and economic hub and eventually became a major religious center; Qırq Yer, an ancient fortified cave settlement that survived into the early 20th century; and the Salacık settlement at the foot of Çufut Qale, which became the most direct precursor of the new capital in Bakhchysarai. The ruins of these settlements are part of the modern Bakhchysarai’s cultural heritage; they lie within its boundaries and greatly influence its modern appearance.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the views and opinions of contemporary Muslim scholars on organisational accountability in Islam. The paper is based on in-depth semi-structured interviews and a review of the relevant documents. Eighteen interviews with twelve Muslim scholars, two ulamas (mufti), two organisational donors, and two relevant government officers, both in Indonesia and in Malaysia were, respectively, conducted. The Muslim scholars interviewed perceived that accounting and accountability activities are not contradictory to Islamic teachings. The accountability relationship in Islam is  viewed as not only fulfilling the legal requirements, but also fulfilling the relationship with God. The findings clearly indicate that a formal accountability mechanism is strongly encouraged in Islam, and financial reporting is viewed as essential in enhancing the accountability of Islamic religious organizations. Therefore, any organization dealing with community funds must demonstrate its financial accountability formally; i.e., through written reports. Thus, public or community trust in the organisation cannot replace the accountability mechanism.

This paper attempts to shed some light on Islamic Nashid (Nasyid) groups in Malaysia, in particular Rabbani, Raihan and Hijjaz. With the emergence of globalization and its entertainment aspect, and due to the huge influence of modernization on the society especially among the youth, there was a need for an alternative entertainment. And, as far as Muslims are concerned, the most effective way in this regard was, to a great extent, Islamic Nashid.  Entertainment itself has been an area of great discussion and dispute among Muslim scholars throughout the ages all over the world. In Malaysia, the issue of allowing or disallowing entertainment specifically songs and music is no longer a big issue. As a matter of fact, entertainment is part of the traditions and culture of the Muslims in this part of the world. Nevertheless, the major concern here is what kind of songs and music do Nashid groups present? Could Islamic Nashid be an alternative to the conventional or non-Islamic songs? Is it possible for Nashid performance to be viewed as an act of worship?  To what extent Nashid groups are contributing in the Islamization of entertainment and enhancement of Islamic awareness in Malaysian society?? The focus of this research is: (1) The historical background of Rabbani, Raihan and Hijjaz Nashid groups (2) The role these groups have been playing in creating Islamic awareness; (3) The Islamization of songs and music as promoted by these three groups; (4) The challenges these Nashid groups are facing in terms of publication and audience attendance etc.; and (5) The future of Islamic Nashid in Malaysia. This research is expected to provide important findings that will enhance Islamic awareness among the society members. Besides, it is hoped that this paper will highlight the effectiveness of Islamic Nashid in Malaysia especially in this borderless globalized village. Dengan kemunculan globalisasi dan aspek hiburannya, dan disebabkan oleh pengaruh besar pemodenan terhadap masyarakat terutama kalangan belia, hiburan alternatif amatlah diperlukan. Cara yang paling berkesan dalam hal ini adalah, sebahagian besarnya, Nasyid Islam. Hiburan itu sendiri merupakan bidang perbincangan dan pertikaian hebat di kalangan para ulama Islam sepanjang zaman di seluruh dunia. Di Malaysia, isu membenarkan atau menolak hiburan khususnya lagu dan muzik tidak lagi menjadi masalah besar. Hakikatnya, hiburan adalah sebahagian daripada tradisi dan budaya umat Islam. Walau bagaimanapun, kebimbangan utama di sini, apakah jenis lagu dan muzik yang didendangkan oleh kumpulan Nasyid tersebut? Bolehkah Nasyid Islam menjadi alternatif kepada lagu konvensional atau yang bersifat tidak Islamik? Adakah mungkin Nasyid dilihat sebagai satu ibadah? Sejauh manakah kumpulan Nasyid menyumbang kepada Islamisasi hiburan dan meningkatkan kesedaran Islam dalam masyarakat Malaysia? Fokus penyelidikan ini adalah: (1) latar belakang kumpulan-kumpulan Nasyid RABBANI, RAIHAN DAN HIJJAZ (2) Peranan kumpulan-kumpulan ini dalam membentuk kesedaran Islam; (3) Islamisasi lagu dan muzik seperti yang diketengahkan oleh ketiga-tiga kumpulan ini; (4) Cabaran yang dihadapi kumpulan-kumpulan Nasyid ini dari segi penerbitan dan menarik minat pendengar; dan (5) Masa depan Nasyid Islam di Malaysia. Penyelidikan ini dijangka memberikan penemuan penting yang akan meningkatkan kesedaran Islam di kalangan masyarakat. Di samping itu, diharapkan makalah ini akan menonjolkan keberkesanan Nashyd Islam di Malaysia terutamanya dalam dunia globalisasi tanpa sempadan. This article tries to reveal another meaning to the word al-nabiy al-ummiy in the context of historic-Sufistic. Among Indonesian mufassirs al-nabiy al-ummiy means less read and write, although there are other muslim scholars who understand that the Prophet Muhammad does not know how to read and write. Based on this latter view it becomes an apologetic argument that all the revelations revealed to the Prophet Muhammad are independently. There were not influenced by the previous traditions and religious cultures. To find the meaning beyond the conventional meaning above, the author tries to trace the historical background before and during Muhammad's time by using descriptive analytic-historical and sufistic. The result of this discussion of the author finds that beyond the common sense al-nabiy al-ummiy can be understood by: first, that Muhammad saw as the perfect person he became the source (babon), polecy (policy), and wisdom (wisdom) both vertical and horizontal among the people. Secondly, based on the historical reality of the proud Arab nation if it is attributed to the lineage of Mother's side, it affirms that the prophet Muhammad is an honorable man. Third, al-nabiy al-ummiy became one of the visions of Islam as a motherly religion that women should be honored and get their rights. Fourth, al-nabiy al-ummiy as proof that the prophet Muhammad gave strict laws against the mothers (of a husband) who can not be passed on to the children of his old wife.

The Graeco-Roman world has an indelible mark in shaping and influencing the background of the New Testament. The style of leadership in the context was more in the form of αἰ σχροκερδῶς ‘greedy’ and κατακυριεύω‘tyranny or lording over’ (1 Peter 5:2-3) motives both from its political and religious perspectives. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate how such a background of the Graeco-Roman world shape and contributes to the writing of the epistle of 1 Peter, exclusively on the aspect of leadership in the church and Christian community. The study used the socio-historical method to show the condition and struggle of the early Christian amid greedy and tranny leaders in the Graeco-Roman context. The study, therefore, seeks to supply theologians as well as church leaders or Pastors with a better understanding of leadership from a socio-historical background of the Graeco-Roman world and how that can help in reading and handling issues of leadership in the New Testament, especially the epistle of 1 Peter.

Статья посвящена анализу феномена педагогического волонтерства в историческом опыте и современном социокультурном контексте. Целью является изучение исторического развития практик и направлений педагогического волонтерства. Исследование обусловлено наличием трех противоречий, которые характерны для педагогического волонтерства: популярность и недостаточная изученность, большие возможности и отсутствие научно выверенных методов реализации, историческая преемственность и новизна. Основные методы исследования: теоретический и сопоставительный анализ, исторический метод, анализ публицистических материалов. C опорой на теоретические исследования и практические материалы было отслежено историческое развитие педагогического волонтерства, раскрыты его отличительные особенности от других видов социальных практик. Эти особенности иллюстрируют три критерия: волонтерский, педагогический, институциональный. На основе критериев делается вывод, что первые волонтерские педагогические практики получили распространение в деятельности движения «Сетлемент» в США. В статье дан обзор пяти основных направлений педагогического волонтерства в отечественном и зарубежном опыте: наставничество, репетиторство, духовно-просветительское направление, образовательное волонтерство, социально-развивающая деятельность с детьми, оказавшимися в трудной жизненной ситуации. Также были уточнены и обоснованы для использования понятия «педагогическое волонтерство», «волонтер-педагог». The article analyzes the phenomenon of educational volunteerism against the historical background and in the modern socio-cultural context. The aim of the article is to analyze the evolution of various practices and trends of educational volunteerism. The research focuses on three contradictions characteristic of educational volunteering: popularity vs. insufficient investigation, great opportunities vs. lack of developed implementation methodology, deep historical roots vs. novelty. The article employs the following methods of research: theoretical and comparative analysis, historical method, analysis of publicistic materials. The analysis of theoretical research and practical materials enables the author of the article to trace the historical development of educational volunteerism, to investigate its peculiar features that make it different form other social practices. These peculiarities illustrate three criteria: volunteering, educational and institutional. Relying on the criteria, the author concludes that the first practices of educational volunteerism were employed by the adherents of the Settlement movement in the USA. The article analyzes five major trends of pedagogical volunteerism in Russia and abroad: mentoring, guidance, tutorship, spiritual enlightenment, socio-educational support for children in difficult life situations. The article also substantiates such notions as educational volunteerism and teaching volunteers.
