<em><span>Our living traditions are an inheritance from our ancestors. One of them is Chicken Throwing ritual in Kudus City. This tradition celebrated when a villager of Kudus Kulon get married with Kudus Wetan society or in contrary. A villager should throw a chicken in Gelis bridge to eliminate the bad effect from spirits in this bridge. Almost of old people in the past include meaning in every tradition, they give some message not directly but in symbols. So that’s way the author want to describe what the meaning behind chicken throwing in wedding ceremony of Kudus society. This research used a qualitative method trough in depth  interview to gain data. To analysis data, this research used the semiotic of Charles Sander Pierce. In sum, the tradition of Chicken Throwing has many meanings. Firstly, in Hindhu era this tradition was a symbol of offering that give to the spirits in Gelis river. Secondly in followers of Sunan Kudus era this tradition has the different meaning. They move to the purpose of this tradition became shodaqoh given to the vagrants. Thirdly, in this era it is carried out only on the basis of orders from parents or just hereditary</span></em>

In Niger State, there are more than fifteen different ethnic groups, each having its peculiar cultural affiliations, but the major ethnic groups in the State are; Nupe, Gbagyi, Fulani/Hausa. This paper tends to reflect on certain aspects of cultures which seem to have been forgotten among the three major ethnic groups, with focus on marriage most of whose aspects have been tempered by the influence of Western education. A qualitative method was used with the aim of extracting vital information from the participants regarding the forgotten aspects of cultures. Four aged people who are versed on culture were purposively selected. An in-depth interview, non-participatory observation and document analysis were used as means for data collection. All the participants were interviewed in English and each session of the interview lasted for about an hour to two hours. The interview was recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed manually. Findings from the study discovered that; most of the beautiful and less expensive cultural practices in marriage have been forgotten, abandoned and changed with expensive and luxurious practices. The paper reviews the traditional marriage practices in the past among the Nupe, Gbagyi and the Fulani, and the influence of Western education on the forgotten aspects. The paper concludes by pointing out effects of the forgotten aspects on our contemporary society, particularly with the increase in population among the youths.

Sada Sabai dance as one of South Sumatra's traditional art works, especially in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency is very closely related to Komering culture. Sada Sabai dance is one of the characteristics of the Komering culture that dwells in the South Sumatra region, created based on the spirit of the Komering community when holding a traditional wedding ceremony. Sada Sabai dance is one form of art that is used by many Komering people who are presented during the traditional wedding ceremony. The problem raised in this study aims to analyze the characteristics of the Sada Sabai dance that developed in the Komering culture. The method used is a qualitative method with a case study research design. Data collection techniques include observation, interview and document study. The results showed that Sada Sabai dance was a symbol of the harmony between the bride and groom family, so that in the past Sada Sabai dance was only danced by married families. This phenomenon was clearly seen when the groom's family and the bride danced on the stage how the two of them looked very close to each other. Then, the movement in Sada Sabai dance emphasized improvisation and exploration as its main approach and the main characteristic lied in the middle fingers of the dancers.

In the past few years, South Korean pop culture has become a global phenomenon. The sudden popularity of the culture commonly known as as Korean Wave or Hallyu. This trend includes Korean drama, dance, music, films, animation, games, and fans club for Korean pop celebrity. In the past, those who become fans is only from a spesific age, but now it is more varied. One of most popular of the Korean singer groups is BangTan Boys. Abbreviated as BTS, the fans of BangTan Boys is proudly call themselves, “ARMY”. Using the Henry Jenkins’s Participatory culture theory along with qualitative method, this research tries to analyze that there are audiens who do not only consuming pop culture, but also producing new cultural artefacts from that. The data were collected by focus group discussion, in-depth interview and data analysis. It shows that some of the fans are making “fanfiction” as the reproductions of new artefacts, despite actively participating in BTS fandom by doing activities as include in the four types of Jenkin’s participatory cultures.

Kulon Progo Regency is one of the districts that has many innovations, one of which is community empowerment in collaboration with a modern shop abbreviated as the shop name owned by the people (tomira). This research was motivated by the achievements of the Kulon Progo district government in carrying out development and innovation in the development of the Kulon Progo region by fully involving the Kulon Progo district community through community empowerment. This initiative was taken by the government of Kulon Progo Regency to improve community empowerment and protect the people of Kulon Progo Regency from various economic threats. Considering that in the past few years many modern shops have mushroomed in each district/city, so this is what makes Kulon Progo Regency move quickly to empower the community by collaborating between MSMEs or cooperative with modern shops. This study uses a qualitative method which case study approach. With the empowerment that has been done, the original products of Kulon Progo Regency or local products can be traded in modern stores so that local products in Kulon Progo Regency can compete with national products in these modern stores. The existence of such cooperation will indirectly improve the image of Kulon Progo Regency and lift the original products of Kulon Progo Regency. The lifting of the original products of Kulon Progo Regency will have a positive impact on the community, where indirectly the economy of the community will increase so that there will be prosperity for the community. Kabupaten Kulon Progo adalah salah satu kabupaten yang memiliki banyak inovasi, salah satunya adalah pemberdayaan masyarakat bekerja sama dengan toko modern disingkat nama toko yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat (tomira). Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pencapaian pemerintah kabupaten Kulon Progo dalam melakukan pengembangan dan inovasi dalam pengembangan wilayah Kulon Progo dengan melibatkan sepenuhnya masyarakat kabupaten Kulon Progo melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat. Inisiatif ini diambil oleh pemerintah Kabupaten Kulon Progo untuk meningkatkan pemberdayaan masyarakat dan melindungi masyarakat Kabupaten Kulon Progo dari berbagai ancaman ekonomi. Menimbang bahwa dalam beberapa tahun terakhir banyak toko-toko modern telah menjamur di setiap kabupaten/kota, jadi inilah yang membuat Kabupaten Kulon Progo bergerak cepat untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dengan berkolaborasi antara UMKM atau bekerjasama dengan toko-toko modern. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, dengan metode yang digunakan adalah dokumentasi. Dengan pemberdayaan yang telah dilakukan, produk asli Kabupaten Kulon Progo atau produk lokal dapat diperdagangkan di toko modern sehingga produk lokal di Kabupaten Kulon Progo dapat bersaing dengan produk nasional di toko modern ini. Adanya kerjasama tersebut secara tidak langsung akan meningkatkan citra Kabupaten Kulon Progo dan mengangkat produk asli Kabupaten Kulon Progo. Pencabutan produk asli Kabupaten Kulon Progo akan berdampak positif bagi masyarakat, di mana secara tidak langsung perekonomian masyarakat akan meningkat sehingga akan ada kesejahteraan bagi masyarakat.

Introduction: In the past decade, there has been an influx of migrant nurses from India to Australia. Migrant professionals have specific transition needs associated with working in Mental Health (MH). This study aimed to explore the transition experience of overseas trained nurses from India working in Australian MH settings. Method: Hermeneutic phenomenology was the methodological approach used in the study. The participants ( N = 16) were overseas trained nurses from India. Data were collected through in-depth interview and analysed using thematic analysis. Results: The findings resulted in the identification of the following themes: (1) Living in dual culture, (2) Loneliness, (3) Discrimination, and (4) Feeling incomplete. Discussion: It is evident that the transition to work in MH in Australia was a journey of mixed experiences. While certain findings of this study are comparable with experiences of migrant nurses in other settings, it provides insight into those that are working in MH.

This study aims to provide an overview of the process of cultural change through total quality management in Islamic perspective carried out at Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School. The method of the study is qualitative method by using in-depth interview techniques with informants. This research was conducted at the Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School, Depok City, West Java. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis with the stages of reducing data, triangulating data, presenting data descriptively, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results showed that cultural change through total quality management at Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School was seen from 7 focuses. The focus of planning for Islamic boarding schools is still focused on current conditions. The focus of the organization is participatory by involving all individuals to improve the quality of education and to develop Islamic boarding schools. The focus of control is still in the form of monitoring and supervising each section based on the existing SOP. The focus of communication has been two-way communication. The focus of the decision is still reactive and not based on well planning even though decisions are made based on deliberation and consensus. The focus of functional management has not been fully integrated. The focus of quality management is still reactive because it is still in the stage of finding the best and most suitable method to be applied in Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, the process of cultural change at Daar El Manshur Islamic Boarding School has begun to occur.

This research discusses a novel which written by Sue Monk Kidd entitled The Secret Life of Bees. The writers aims to describe the matriarchal society issue that is often regarded as the opposed of patriarchy. This research aims to answer the question how levels of matriarchal society described in the novel The Secret Life of Bees through women characters in the story. This study applies descriptive qualitative method and typically library research. This research applies socio-historical approach in order to look at the relation between literary work and society’s historical elements that happen in the past. At political level, August character shows as the matriarch or the leader in community with important role for overcoming conflict and decision making process. At economical level, it shows that matriarchal society common practice has right and same position in economic affair and giving gift each other to make the economic condition balance. Last, at spiritual and cultural level, it is described that women characters in The Secret Life of Bees believe in feminine divine which is the Black Mary and doing worship for her. In conclusion, The Secret Life of Bees novel clearly depicts matriarchal society based on the theory of Matriarchy by Heide Göettner-Abendroth.Keyword: The Secret Life of Bees, Matriarchy, Matriarchal Society, Levels of Matriarchal Society, Socio-historical Approach

Regional Original Revenue (PAD) is regional revenue derived from local taxes, regional retribution, and management of separated regional assets, as well as other legitimate regional income. Regional levies are one of the sources of financing regional development in supporting the implementation of regional autonomy. One type of regional retribution collected by the Tomohon City Government is waste retribution. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of waste collection fees in Tomohon City, and the contribution of solid waste retribution to PAD. In this study using quantitative descriptive method. The analysis data used in this study is the analysis of contribution and effectiveness. The results of the receipt effectiveness of solid waste levies in 2015-2016 was not effective and decreased, then in 2017 although it was still ineffective but experienced a very drastic increase. The contribution of solid waste retribution to regional retribution is still relatively small in 2015 and 2016 but in 2017 its contribution is very significant to regional retribution. While the contribution of solid waste retribution to the PAD of Tomohon City in 2015-2017 is very small for the past 3 years. Leaders of Regional Revenue Service and the Environmental Agency should continue to optimize the receipt of solid waste fees with intensification & extensification, so that there will always be changes on the system of receiving regional retribution towards a better direction.Keywords: effectivity, contribution, local government income

This research aims to find out the benefits of using the Card Payment Inatrument in Tegal. This research was conducted in the Tegal by taking 100 respondents to visitors shopping center in Tegal. The respondent despite into two groups, 50 male respondents and 50 female respondents this research use qualitative method. Respondents were randomly selected and the data were collected based on in depth interview results. The results of this research show that the Card Payment Method has a huge benefit for its users. Some societies state. able to bring cost-effective behavior because it can control spending. Of money. However, there are also people who give the perception that APMK is a secure payment instrument because mostly card has a Personal Indentification Number in it.
