Introduction. Young adults compose one of the most dynamic social groups, sensitive to changes. Dependent on various personal characteristics and life circumstances, this sensitivity could lead either to successful social adaptation and subsequent life satisfaction or trigger dysfunctional behaviours and psychological maladaptation. Young adults often face the contradiction between profound need for self-realization and limited capacity for achieving it and need psychological resources to overcome this challenge. This study takes to the next new level empirical exploration of the role emotional intelligence plays in shaping self-realization in young adults. Methods. The sample of study participants included full- (N = 52) and part-time (N = 60) university students. They completed demographic forms, Multidimensional Questionnaire on Personality Self-Realization – personal, professional, and social, and the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire. Correlational and regression analyses were employed for data processing. Results. Participants’ age, especially in conjunction with the part-time working status was negatively correlated with all three types of self-realization, Hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed that the general factor of emotional intelligence significantly contributed to self-realization (p < 0.01). Furthermore, its interpersonal component was the strongest predictor, uniquely contributing from 7 % to 16% of explained variability in the criterion variables. Discussion. The findings indicate that emotional intelligence is a strong adaptive factor capable of compensating for the negative influence of challenging changes in life circumstances. Implications for further research and applied practice of psychological aid for young adults in their transition from educational to working environments are considered and discussed.

Self-realization is an important factor of successful social adaptation, especially in the early stages of a professional career in the dynamic conditions of the modern economy and society.The purpose of this study was to assess the general level of self-realization of students in socionomic and bionomic professions.It also performed comparative analysis (previously insufficiently represented in the empirical literature) of subjective perception of self-realization, depending on the length of professional training and the level of emotional intelligence.The subjects were students of the Southern Federal University, 109 representatives of socionomic and 75 of bionomic professions.The respondents completed a multidimensional self-realization questionnaire (S.I.Kudinov) and the test of emotional intelligence (EmIn, by D.V.Lucin).The study found significant differences between the representatives of the two professional types as in their subjective assessment of success of three types of self-realization, as in the direction and relative contribution to the subjective sense of self-realization of the two factors under consideration: duration of professional training and the level of emotional intelligence.Emotional intelligence was a significant predictor of all types of self-realization, compensating for the negative influence of duration of training in bionomic professions and enhancing its positive effect in socionomic professions.The authors emphasize the importance of developing and using specialized innovative programs for effective training of emotional intelligence as one of the key components in the work of practical psychologists with young people in the early stages of professional training and career.

While many facets of loneliness have been explored, research examining the efficacy of loneliness interventions has been overlooked among young adults. The study of loneliness among young adults has become increasingly important considering the current state of isolation and stay-at-home orders issued to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Preliminary reports suggest an increase in loneliness as a result of the current health pandemic, especially among young adults, who have reported feeling lonelier than any other age group. Such findings warrant the study of ways to help reduce loneliness among young adults. The current study examined the efficacy of strategies that might be used to help young adults manage feelings of loneliness. Two hundred and seventy-eight young adults completed the study. Participants read one of four messages: mindfulness, social cognitions, coping behaviors, or a control. Participants in the mindfulness condition felt better equipped to manage future instances of loneliness and held better attitudes toward this intervention. The current research helps to advance understanding of effective ways of helping young adults cope with loneliness.

Introduction: Our current era is the age of information exploration and innovation that has given us a good opportunity to use evidence-based information, so this study aimed to evaluate the use of Evidence-Based Dentistry in Isfahan Dental School in 2018. Materials & Methods: The sampling method of this study was census and, the number of faculty assistants was 50. The method of collecting this information was through a questionnaire Regarding fulfillment of ethical manners in this study, participants were not required to mention their names and personal characteristics, and only if they consented participate in the study, a questionnaire was provided to them. Man withny analysis and Spear man correlation were used to evaluate the relation between EBD (Evidence Based Dentistry) according to their gender. Results: In the current evaluation, it was observed that 19 dentists (36.5%) were female and 33 (63.5%) were male. Most residents (63.5%) sometimes use evidence-based dentistry, 11 cases (21.2%) rarely and 8 cases (15.3%) using this technique always. About the frequency distribution of resources used by residents to answer questions in dealing with patients, the highest frequency (65.4%) was related to “textbooks or questions from clinical teachers” as well as “translated reference books” and the least Frequency (13.5%) was related to “Search other databases”. Conclusion: Based on the findings in this section, the use of evidence-based medicine among residents is low.

The article is devoted to the study of emotional development in preschool age children with violations of speech development, and its relationship with emotional intelligence of the mother, the emotional interaction between mother and child, implemented a style of emotional upbringing. Topicality of the work is determined by the increasing number of children with speech pathology and, accordingly, the increasing acuteness of issues affecting their social adaptation and the formation of readiness for school. Two abnormal groups and two normative groups participated in the study. Abnormal groups included 35 pairs of "primary preschool child – mother" and 54 pairs of "middle preschool child – mother". All children of pathological groups had a verified diagnosis of mental retardation (delay of psychological and speech development). Similarly, normative groups were formed by age ranges, the first of which included 32 "child-mother" pairs, the second – 36 "child-mother" pairs. Normative group was formed of preschoolers of kindergartens of the city of Vladimir who had normative development. As a result of the research, it was found that the emotional development of children with speech pathology has distinctive features in comparison with normatively developing children. Mothers of preschool children with speech pathology differ in the level of development of components of emotional intelligence, they have characteristic features in emotional interaction with children in comparison with mothers who raise normatively developing children. There are connections between the level of development of emotional intelligence of the mother, the features of emotional interaction and the development of the emotional sphere of preschool children with speech pathology.

Abstract Background: In Oman, a higher proportion of patients presented with breast cancer are relatively young age and with an advanced stage. This could be due to lack of awareness and knowledge about breast cancer among young women. Aim: To assess the breast cancer knowledge, awareness and factors associated with the practice of breast self-examination (BSE) among females in Buraimi, Oman. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among females attending the two days health exhibition event at a polyclinc, in Al-Buraimi, governorate. A pretested questionnaire to assess their knowledge, awareness and practices concerned to breast cancer was used. The collected data was categorized, analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression model. All the statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 version. Results: Out of the total of one hundred and eighty nine (189) participants, 80% had information of breast cancer. Participants had better knowledge of symptoms but less knowledge about risk factors. When probed about BSE, only 43% performed it and only 21% of them do it monthly on regular basis. The main reasons for regular monthly BSE is mainly because of fear of breast cancer (9%), doctor's advice (6%) and awareness through media (5%). Conclusion: Our study participants showed insufficient knowledge in some areas related to sign and symptoms and risk factors of breast cancer and identified a negative influence of low knowledge on the practice of BSE. Thus, educational interventions need to be emphasized to provide comprehensive information of breast cancer.

The present study explored the relation between personal characteristics and romantic relationship satisfaction as mediated by communication. Couples in established heterosexual romantic relationships of at least 3 months (N = 96 couples) were recruited from an undergraduate population at a university through a Psychology Participant Pool System. It’s been hypothesized that there would be a relation between predicting variables — four of five-factor personality traits, emotional intelligence and self-disclosure — and relationship satisfaction as mediated by communication behaviours. Results indicate that for both genders, conscientiousness is related to one’s own relationship satisfaction which is mediated by communication. For females only, communication mediated the relation between emotional intelligence and her relationship satisfaction. For males and females, self-disclosure is related to both one’s own and one’s partner’s relationship satisfaction which is mediated by communication. Collectively, these results suggest that personal characteristics are related to communication which influences the relationship satisfaction of both members of a couple.

The study aims to explore the differential-regulatory predictors of academic performance in the graduating classes of high school. Conscious self-regulation is considered as a universal and exceptional resource for achieving educational goals in the final grades. In modern conditions of digitalization of the educational process and increasing information flows, the individuals’ ability to set goals and optimally achieve them, while maintaining curiosity, achievement motivation, and the desire to develop their personality, is of particular value. The main research question is: what regulatory, motivational, and personal characteristics of students with different regulatory profiles act as their psychological resources for successful school graduation? The study aims to investigate the contribution of regulatory, motivational, and personal characteristics to the annual assessment in mathematics and Russian in high school students with different profiles of conscious self-regulation. The following results were obtained from a sample of students in grades 9–11 (N = 355, average age M = 15.81 ± 0.926). Regression models of the contributions of regulatory, motivational, personal, and emotional-motivational indicators to the performance in mathematics and Russian were constructed for six selected individual typological groups of students. The results showed that only a high harmonious profile of self-regulation ensures that the student is “focused” on high academic achievements. Any conflict in the motivational or personal sphere distracts the resources of the graduate from educational activities. The process of self-regulation (Modeling) is suppressed in all groups as a result of preparation for exams. The regulatory profile and motivational and personal characteristics of students who risk not passing the examination tests without the intervention of teachers and psychologists are determined.

(1) Background: Undernutrition and micronutrient deficiency have been consistently linked to cognitive impairment among children and young adults. As a primary source of dietary animal protein, beef consumption holds the potential to improve diet quality and positively influence cognitive function. This study systematically reviewed evidence linking beef intake to cognition among children and young adults. (2) Methods: A literature search was conducted in seven electronic bibliographic databases for studies assessing the impact of beef consumption on cognition. (3) Results: We identified eight studies reporting results from five unique interventions. Two interventions were conducted in Kenya, two in the U.S. and one in four countries including Guatemala, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia. Only one intervention employed a non-feeding control arm and found beef consumption to improve cognitive abilities compared to the control. However, the other interventions comparing beef consumption to other food types found no consistent result. (4) Conclusions: Evidence pertaining to the impact of beef consumption on cognition remains limited due to the small and heterogeneous set of studies. Future research should adopt a population representative sample and longer follow-up period, employ a non-feeding control arm and comprehensively measure nutrient intakes among study participants.
