: An increase in the level of cholesterol day by day is easily seen in most people just because of poor life style, food with high cholesterol, lack of physical work, etc. There are lots of molecules available, which lower down the cholesterol level. In this field a new molecule has been introduced that is bimpedoic acid. Researches indicate that bempedoic acid has the same mechanism of action as statins, which means that it also inhibits the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme. This letter to the editor is my best collection of published scientific data on bempedoic acid till now. It also includes the chemistry, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic parameters of the mentioned new molecule.

Children with obesity have high risk to have abnormal cholesterol rate. Obesity and high cholesterol rate can cause cardiovascular disease at a later time. Children have normal rate of cholesterol if the cholesterol rate in the blood is <170 mg/dL, the threshold category between 170-199 mg/dL, and high category is >200 mg/dL. Soy Milk and avocado juice are the ways of non pharmacological care that can be applied to reduce cholesterol rate. This study aims to compare Soy Milk and avocado juice giving toward cholesterol rate in children with obesity in State Elementary School 1 and 2 of Katerban, Central Java Province, Indonesia. The study used quasi experiment design with non-equivalent control group framework. Samples of the study were 30 children taken by use purposive sampling. Soy Milk and avocado juice effective to reduce cholesterol level in obesity children (p value=0,000, p<0,05), but neither soy milk and avocado juice there’re no one that more effective to decrease cholesterol level (p value=0,902, p>0,05). 60% of respondent were male student age 11 years (36,7%). Father education were high. Soya milk and avocado juice are able to reduce cholesterol rate. Parents must give attention to children’s dietary intake to reduce cholesterol and obesity, also motivate them to do physical activity.

Objectives: We research risk factors of chronic occlusive arterial disease of lower extremity. Subjects and methods: From 05/2010 to 04/2012, prospective study at Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery of Hue Centre hospital, we have performed 49 patients in 30 males and 19 females from 33 to 92 ages, who were treated chronic occlusive arterial disease of lower extremity. Results: Majority of patients came to hospital with severe condition in grade III and IV according to Leriche-Fontain standards (27.12% and 66.1%). All patients incomed, expect the unmodifiable risk factor (as age, sex), we found socialty risk factor remarable (as hypertension 51.1%, smoking 18.36%, diabetes 10.2%, high cholesterol level 4.08%. Conclusions: Expect the unmodifiable risk factor, we found a the most striking association with hypertension, smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol level.

High cholesterol and triglyceride levels are mainly related to further generation of lifethreating metabolism disorders including cardiovascular system diseases. Therefore, hypercholesterolemia (i.e., also referred to as hyperlipoproteinemia) is a serious disease state, which must be controlled. Currently, the treatment of hypercholesterolemia is mainly achieved through the employment of statins in the clinic, although there are alternative drugs (e.g., ezetimibe, cholestyramine). In fact, the original statins are natural products directly obtained from fungi-like molds and mushrooms and they are potent inhibitors of hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase, the key enzyme in the biosynthesis of cholesterol. This review focuses on the first identification of natural statins, their synthetic and semi-synthetic analogues, and the validation of hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase as a target in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. Furthermore, other natural products that have been shown to possess the potential to inhibit hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase are also reviewed with respect to their chemical structures.

Abstract Background A relationship between depression and metabolic syndrome has been reported. Considering the diabesity rates effecting the small state of Malta it was considered appropriate to explore for links between these diseases, their metabolic determinants with depression. Methods A national health examination survey was conducted. A validated questionnaire note down (1) self-reported depression (2) anti-depressive medication (3) PHQ-9 depression symptoms score (&gt;5 positive for depression). Participants with the presence of one or more of these variables were labelled as having depression. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and blood pressure (BP) were measured. Blood testing for fasting blood glucose (FBG) and lipid profile were performed. The biochemical (FBG, Lipid profiles) and anthropometric profiles (BMI, WC, BP) of the depression population were compared to those without this disease. Univariant and multivariant binary logistic regression models were performed. Results The depression population (17.2% of the total population) had significantly higher median LDL, triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) levels when compared to those without the disease (p = &lt;0.01). On univariant modelling each variable (LDL OR:1.15 p = 0.01; TG OR:1.16 p = 0.01; TC OR:1.64 p = &lt;0.01) showed a positive association with having depression even after adjusting for confounding factors (sex, age, education, smoking, alcohol habits). On multivariant modelling only an increase in TC was associated with increased risk of having depression (OR: 1.36 CI95%: 1.05-1.76 p = 0.02) after adjusting for confounders. Conclusions The various components of the metabolic syndrome appeared not to be associated with a diagnosis of depression. Only high cholesterol level exhibited a metabolic link with depression. Although further research is merited, it is suggested that physicians incorporate a depression screening tool as part of their consultation when examining high-risk patients. Key messages A metabolic syndrome profile is not linked with depression. A high cholesterol level is linked with depression, making these individuals susceptible to potential cardiovascular disease.

Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg. The number of hypertension sufferers has increased each year, in 2015 it reached 19,552, in 2016 it reached 24,750 and in 2017 it reached 38,057. In 2017 there were 115 hypertensive patients recorded in the report book that checked their health at the Sadananya Health Center. One of the causes of the high incidence of hypertension is cholesterol caused by the consumption of inappropriate food. One of the laboratory examinations to support hypertension diagnosis is blood cholesterol examination which can show excess cholesterol which makes hypertension difficult to control. To know the description of total cholesterol levels in hypertensive patients at the Sadananya Health Center. Quantitative descriptive, the population in this study were people with hypertension at the Sadananya Health Center. Sampling with accidental sampling, as many as 30 respondents. The cholesterol examination method used is CHOD-PAP. The results showed that blood pressure in respondents all had high blood pressure, namely >140/90 mmHg (100%), a high cholesterol level of 24 respondents (80%), blood pressure 140-150 who had high cholesterol as many 13 respondents, blood pressure 160-170 who had high cholesterol as much 6 respondents, blood pressure >180 who had high cholesterol as much 5 respondents. This study concludes that hypertensive clients have more high total cholesterol levels, which is as much as 80% and normal 20%. More hypertensive patients have high total cholesterol levels, which are 80% and 20% normal.

In 2014, more than 1.9 million adult, 18 yrs. and older, were overweight, of these over 600 million men and women were obese. Due to faulty lifestyle and diet pattern the incidence of obesity is increasing day by day all over the world. according to Ayurveda obesity also known as sthoulya or medoroga. according to Ayurveda obesity can lead to many life style disorders. Ayurveda has a great importance to reduce risk of lifestyle disorders. There are so many concepts which will reduce the risk of life style disorders. Acc. To swasthavritta there are so many pathya aahar kalpna, various type of aasanas and yoga described thus, above factors has wonderful preventive and curative effect on obesity.

Cholesterol screening for children is recommended currently only for those with a family history of premature coronary heart disease or hyperlipidemia. The authors report on a pediatric-office-based cholesterol screening program where the predictive values of family history indicators were evaluated along with reported television viewing, physical activity, and dietary habits in 1081 children (aged 2 to 20 years, mean 7.4 ± 3.6 [SD] years). Eight percent of these children had a total cholesterol value of 200 mg/dL or higher; 53% of such children reported watching 2 or more hours of television daily compared with 34% of children with lower cholesterol levels. Multivariate analyses revealed that excessive television viewing was the strongest predictor for a child to have a cholesterol value of 200 mg/dL or higher, with relative risks of 2.2 for 2 to 4 hours of television viewing per day (P &lt; .01) and 4.8 for children watching more than 4 hours/day, when compared to those watching less than 2 hours/day (P &lt; .01). In contrast, a positive family history of a high cholesterol level was only modestly associated with an increased probability of having a high cholesterol level (relative risk 1.6, P &lt; .05), and a history of premature myocardial infarction in a parent or grandparent was not associated with a child's cholesterol level. Excessive television viewing was found to be associated with certain dietary and physical activity habits and may prove to be a useful, global marker for several life-style factors predisposing children to hypercholesterolemia.

Objective: Health is nothing but a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing not merely the absence of disease. Health depends on life style and requires the promotion of healthy life style. Health is both a consequence of an individual’s life style and factors in determining it. Working pattern or type of work has long been known to influence human health specially. The present study was under taken to evaluate the body status and physiological stress and occupational health hazards of the female workers.Methods: According to the work load the working group was classified in to low physical work group (LPWG) and the moderate type of physical work group (MPWG). Eighty women (forty in each group), excluding pregnant women, were selected from the municipal area of Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India, aged between 20 to 40 years. The anthropometric measurement and skin fold thickness were taken, from which the body mass index (BMI) and fat percentage were determined. The blood pressure of all the   subjects was taken by mercury sphygmomanometer at resting condition. The occupational health hazards were determined by questionnaire technique.Result: The result indicates that the MPWG workers suffer in significantly (p<0.001) low weight, BMI and Fat% than that of the LPWG workers. The MPWG workers also suffer from significantly (p<0.001) higher percentage of musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) at neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, finger, cuff and feet-ankle joint. MPWG workers, hemoglobin concentration also significantly (p<0.01) lower than that of the LPWG workers.Conclusion: It may be concluded that, this study is helpful to identify the risk factor for the occurrence of different cardiovascular as well as musculoskeletal abnormalities and accordingly prevention program, regarding proper food habit be undertaken. Our research explores the methods consumers would consider using in order to prevent non-communicable diseases, with consuming functional food products being one of these methods. Previous research has pointed out the importance of missing information such as which diseases worry consumers and what they would use to avoid them. We conducted a personal survey with 1027 people in Hungary about 13 diseases and four prevention methods. We analyzed the results with descriptive statistical methods, binary logistic regression, and random forest. According to our results, the highest proportion of worried respondents think it is justified to consume functional foods for the prevention of digestive problems, a weakened immune system, and high cholesterol level. Our results help to characterize the target group for these three diseases. Completed education plays a key role in choosing functional foods to prevent a weakened immune system. Those with tertiary education are the most likely to choose this prevention method. With the other two diseases, age played a crucial role. All age groups over 36 would be more likely to choose functional foods to prevent digestive problems, whereas in case of high cholesterol level, the 36–50 age group would be more likely to apply this method.
