The quality of teaching and teacher plays a significant role in enhancing students’ cognitive and motivational development. The purpose of this study was to identify longitudinal trajectories of student perceptions of mathematics teachers’ professional competence, and to examine how these trajectories were related to students’ engagement and achievement in mathematics and their choice of college major. The data used for analysis were obtained from the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study, a study of 2714 secondary students who were followed up for five successive years. Results showed four heterogeneous trajectories of students’ perceptions of teacher competence, and these trajectories were associated with students’ engagement and achievement in mathematics. In addition, those who consistently perceived their mathematics teachers to be highly competent and whose perceptions of their teachers’ competence became more positive over time were more likely than other students to choose math-intensive majors. These findings imply longitudinal links between mathematics teachers’ professional competence as perceived by their students and students’ choice of college major as well as their engagement and achievement in mathematics.

Learning outcomes The learning outcomes of this case are product innovation, the importance of consumer insights and data in marketing and the role of consumer insights in brand revival. Case overview/synopsis This case study is a fascinating look into how the shift from music compact disc (CDs) to streaming has completely changed consumer behavior. This change in attitude led many music labels down one of two paths as follows: shutting down the business or embracing new business models. The case study aims to bring out essential learning from a company, Saregama, that was on the verge of shutting down because of the losses incurred with the shift in consumer behavior from buying music CDs to streaming music for free on every smart device. This shift led most record companies to become shuttered. However, not all were as fortunate as Saregama, who threaded its way toward profitability. This case analyzes how Saregama turned from a loss-making business unit into a profit center by launching a breakthrough product backed by innovative thinking and strong consumer research. The researcher opted for secondary research based on reports from Deloitte and McKinsey & Company and other credible sources to understand the music streaming market in India. The study also includes excerpts from the interview of Vikram Mehra (MD of Saregama India Ltd.) to various media houses and customer reviews on e-commerce sites. Complexity academic level The case is relevant for learners studying for an undergraduate or graduate program and for discussions for modules such as marketing management and international marketing with a focus on product development and strategy. Applicability the case will provide the following exposure to the learners: the difference between corporate and marketing objectives; Using frameworks such as valuable, rare, inimitable, and organization and SAP-LAP to understand the rationale behind strategic decisions; An understanding of the importance of listening to consumers; Using the right marketing elements such as segmentation, targeting and positioning and marketing mix for a competitive marketing strategy. This article presents a double perspective on social educators’ professional competence: It discusses how everyday life in day care centres (preschools) is dependent on professional competences that can be conceived as “unnoticed.” These aspects of professional competence are embedded in routines, experiences and embodied forms of knowledge. However, it may be discussed whether these competences are under pressure from increased demands for documentation, standardization and evaluation of children’s learning outcomes. The article will briefly outline this development in the day care sector, followed by a discussion of unnoticed professional competence and the related notion of gestural knowledge. The double perspective on social educators’ professional competences will be illuminated by empirical examples from a research project involving social educators from two day care centres in Denmark.

AbstractThe result of this study aims to determine the patterns of scientific and Islamic integration on the curriculum of study programs applying the Indonesian National Qualification Framework, or commonly called KKNI. This study is conducted by using qualitative approach while utilizing document, field observation, and interview as the data collection techniques of this study. Generally, integrated lesson plans with Islamic and Indonesian values in the curriculum of study programs at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University in which based on KKNI is still not well-documented. The suitability among ‘graduate profiles’ as the identity of each graduate program was still not proportional directly to the learning achievements or learning outcomes in which has became the reference of the learning implementation. The vision of integration, developed by the university’s stakeholders, has not been well-implemented, either in written documents or in implementation. Nevertheless, in the implementation of learning, most of the study programs, have already integrated the science, Islamic and Indonesian values, both in scientific contexts—for instance, applied in the learning methods, in teaching materials, in the lecture activities—and in the utilization of the Qur’an as one of the sources of lectures. How to Cite : Sofyan, A., Fauzan., Sayuti, W. This article reveals the process of forming the professional competence of university students. In conditions when the learning process becomes more and more formalized and depersonalized, the teacher should focus on clarifying the motivational sphere in order to form the most important cognitive motives in students. Motivational orientation influences not only the student's learning outcomes, but also changes the educational process itself. What is this influence - positive or negative, developing or standardizing, how universal and intense is it? The strength, effectiveness, form of influence, the predominance of certain functions are determined by the scientific and methodological guidance and management of the educational process by the teacher.

Within their teacher preparation courses and field experiences, preservice teachers are introduced to numerous instructional practices, not all of which are considered research-based. For this reason, instruction in how to evaluate the effectiveness of one’s practices is essential, but it is often a lacking component of initial certification programs. In this article, a flexible, problem-solving model for collecting and reflecting on practice-based evidence (PBE) is described. The model, utilized in a graduate program in Special Education, was designed to assist teacher candidates in evaluating the effectiveness of the practices they implement to optimize students’ learning outcomes. Implications for practice in the K-12 environment are also provided.

The purpose of research to determine and describe whether the concept of flash card utilization is able to increase students activity students in learning in Geography subject. Though geography is a very important subject, particularly in determining the ample number of fauna found in Indonesia, which is even categorized as an endemic fauna. In addition, the manner in delivering subtopic which is considered monotonous by relying solely on reading books and summarizing what they have read are two things that are not surprising. Hence, those two facts encourage students not perform geography lessons enthusiastically. Considering the problems that occur, therefore I am interested in engaging the learning media "Flash Card" in delivering Subtopic of fauna distributions, especially in Indonesia. In each of these Flash Cards there is information regarding the fauna, starts from the picture, name, location of the distribution area, and animal characteristics. After performing the learning process engaging Flash Cards, students were divided into several groups and present Indonesia map along with regions name in front of the class. Then, the teacher would provide some questions related to the fauna characteristics and the groups were asked to answer questions by mentioning names and showing the origin of the fauna asked in the map. During this learning, students will likely compete againts other groups, but happened to be a pleasant circumstance without pressure. And at the end of the chapter, students will take a written test related to fauna distribution subtopic. The final result after applying the media "Flash Cards" turned out to be succeesful in improving student learning outcomes, especially upon fauna distribution subtopic in Indonesia at class XI IPS 1 SMA XinZhong Surabaya. As many as 28 students out of 36 students who did not accomplishminimum standard of 75 points, after engaging the media "Flash Card" they decreased up to only 3 students who did not meet the minimum criteria. Thereby, this result indicates that "Flash Card" mediautilization helps students to understand properly, embrace the subtopic adequately, and assist students to obtain better grades.
