Tilapia is an economically important fish and is widely cultivated in Indonesia. More food in tilapia farming uses fish meal which needs to be replaced because of dependence as an imported product that affects production costs. One of the local raw materials that can be used as a source of animal protein is magot. This study aims to analyze the right proportion of magot flour with a combination of fish meal and magot flour in feed so as to produce maximum growth and feed efficiency for tilapia seeds. This research was conducted in September to December 2019. Test fish used were tilapia seeds measuring 1-2 cm with an average weight of 0.16 g with a stocking density of 1 fish / m3. Fish are fed twice a day with a percentage of daily feeding of 3% of fish biomass. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment in this research is, treatment A = substitution of fish meal 100% with magot flour 0%, B = substitution of fish meal 75% with magot flour 25%, C = substitution of fish meal 50% with magot flour 50%, D = substitution of flour fish 25% with 75% magot flour, E = substitution of 0% fish flour with 100% magot flour. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) if there were significantly different treatment effects followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the addition of magot flour 50% gave a significant result (P <0.05) on protein retention with a value of 14.83%, a specific growth rate with a value of 2.00%, absolute weight growth with a value of 4.34 g, and efficiency of utilization feed with a value of 93.59%. No effects were found in the the feed consumption rate and fish survival. Treatment C combination of 50% fish meal and magot flour can give the best results for the growth of Nirwana race Tilapia.

The present study was aimed to investigate the dietary effect of different levels of turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder on the performance of broiler during summer (June-July), 2013. Four experimental rations designated as T0, T1, T2 and T3 having 0%, 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5% Turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder were fed to 120 broiler chicks (Ross 308), randomly distributed into 12 replicates, so as to have 3 replicates per treatment and 10 chicks per replicate. Average weight gain, feed consumption, feed efficiency, dressing yield and survivability were used as criteria of response to feeding turmeric powder. Organs weight including heart, liver and gizzard were also recorded. The mean body weight gain and average feed efficiency (feed gain-1) per broiler significantly increased (P<0.01) by turmeric supplemented feed compared to control feed. The average feed consumption and survivability of broiler chick non- significantly (P>0.05) improved due to by turmeric supplementation in the diets. Inclusion of turmeric powder caused slightly increased the carcass traits of broiler chicks i.e., average weight of liver, heart and gizzard but the differences were non-significant (P>0.05). A significant decrease (P<0.01) in abdominal fat pad and significant increase (P<0.05) in dressing yield was observed in chickens fed the turmeric supplemented diets. The results of the present study suggest that the use of turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder as feed additive at a level of 0.5% enhances the growth performances and carcass yield of broiler chicks.SAARC J.
ABSTRACT

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the use of by product of corn ethanol industry, DDGS (distiller dried grain with soluble) and hominy as feed raw material on digestibility and the growth performance of humpback grouper Cromileptes altivelis juvenile. Three experimental diets containing isoprotein (48%) but different in DDGS contain were used. Diet A containing 0% of DDGS and hominy while diet B and C containing 10.13% (6.13% of DDGS and 4% of hominy) and 19.05% (15.05% of DDGS and 4% of hominy). Reduce of fish meal level in the diet was happen as a consequence of balancing amino acid. For digestibility experiment and Cr2O3 at level of 0.05% was used as a tracer. The feces were daily collected 30‒60 minutes after feeding for 14 days. Dry matter and protein were used as digestibility parameters. Completely randomized design with three treatments and two replicates was used in this experiment. Humpback grouper with an average weight of 11‒14 g were reared at floating net cages (FNG) of 3×2×1.5 m3. The stocking density for each cage was 167 fish/FNG and reared for six months. For digestibility measurement 30 fish were held in cylindrical fiber tank filled with 800 L of sea water. Fish were fed three times daily at satiation level. For maintaining net in a clean condition net was changed in every ten days. Feed consumption, digestibility of protein and total, growth performance indicator i,e specific growth rate, feed efficiency protein and lipid retention were used as evaluating parameters. The results showed that the fish fed with diet containing DDGS (6.13%) dan hominy (4%), at the level of 10.13% (diet B), shows similar growth performance indicators with the fish fed diet A (0% of DDGS and hominy) and the growth performance indicator was higher when being compared to those fish fed diet C (containing 19.05% of DDGS (15.05%) and hominy (4%)) (p<0.05). More over the inclusion of DDGS and hominy at the level of 10,13% give no negatif impact to feed palatability (shown by total feed consumption value) and digestibility of protein. The increasing level of DDGS and hominy more than 10% reduced palatability and protein digestibility. Based on this research, DDGS and hominy can be used up to 10% in the feed formulation of humpback grouper

Keywords: digestibility, growth performance, DDGS, hominy, humpback grouper, Cromileptes altivelis

Ikan diberi pakan sampai kenyang sebanyak dua kali sehari.
