Abstract Orthoses (exoskeletons and fracture fixation devices) enhance users’ ability to function and improve their quality of life by supporting alignment correction, restoring mobility, providing protection, immobilisation and stabilisation. Ideally, these devices should be personalised to each patient to improve comfort and performance. Production costs have been one of the main constraints for the production of personalised orthoses. However, customisation and personalisation of orthoses are now possible through the use of additive manufacturing. This paper presents the current state of the art of additive manufacturing for the fabrication of orthoses, providing several examples, and discusses key research challenges to be addressed to further develop this field.

Our objective is to develop and validate a predictive model based on the random forest algorithm to estimate the readmission risk to an outpatient rheumatology clinic after discharge. We included patients from the Hospital Clínico San Carlos rheumatology outpatient clinic, from 1 April 2007 to 30 November 2016, and followed-up until 30 November 2017. Only readmissions between 2 and 12 months after the discharge were analyzed. Discharge episodes were chronologically split into training, validation, and test datasets. Clinical and demographic variables (diagnoses, treatments, quality of life (QoL), and comorbidities) were used as predictors. Models were developed in the training dataset, using a grid search approach, and performance was compared using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC). A total of 18,662 discharge episodes were analyzed, out of which 2528 (13.5%) were followed by outpatient readmissions. Overall, 38,059 models were developed. AUC-ROC, sensitivity, and specificity of the reduced final model were 0.653, 0.385, and 0.794, respectively. The most important variables were related to follow-up duration, being prescribed with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs and corticosteroids, being diagnosed with chronic polyarthritis, occupation, and QoL. We have developed a predictive model for outpatient readmission in a rheumatology setting. Identification of patients with higher risk can optimize the allocation of healthcare resources.

Commuter train is one mode of transportation that get PSO aid from the government. The problems related to PSO, among others, are the absence of a common perception on the understanding/definition of PSO and yet all PSO activities are done through a tender process, different basic calculation on the required PSO fund among PSO-executing SOEs, no separation between PSO business activities and non-PSO business activities in the financial statement. In addition, the compensation given by the government for PSO assignment is not sufficient, so that the commuter train service faces many disruptions. For example, the matter of delay reflects that train is not reliable, rails and bridges are not in the prime condition, the signal has beenthe signal has been fade, overlow electric current (pantograph) is frequently disrupted. The purpose of this study is to know, understand and evaluate the provision of PSO in order to maximize the commuter train services. The benefit of this research is to contribute ideas related to the administration of PSO so that people can feel the benefits. The method used is qualitative approach, descriptive analysis, and evaluation on the policy of PSO provision. The results of this study are divided into: PSO provision for economy-class trains, commuter services in Jabodetabek, asserting the separation of service types, support for PSO service improvement, and performance-based planning concept.

AbstractIn the past two years, the issuance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports has become an important nonprofit practice of enterprises in China. As of April 2008, over eighty enterprises in China in industries such as biochemical and energy, food and beverage, computers, finance and insurance, and automotive had released CSR (or equivalent) reports. Using SustainAbility’s indicator system, the paper evaluates CSR reports issued by enterprises in China between May 2007 and April 2008. The paper finds reports’ descriptions of management and performance to be quite good, but that reports failed to give enough information about governance and strategy, data availability, audits, and other aspects. Furthermore, we discovered that the current indicator system, while able to evaluate the quality of reports in form, falls short of truly evaluating their contents. Thus, a new indicator system must be devised to allow an overall assessment of the content of reports.

This paper discusses the methodology and performance records of photo-interpretation studies applied to hydrogeological investigations carried out mainly in the Prairie provinces of Western Canada. Most of these studies involved the search for previously unknown commercial sources of groundwater in southern Saskatchewan and Alberta.Performance records reported cover the 13-year period from 1956 to 1969. During this period, 203 requests were made for consulting assistance. Approximately 90% of these requests resulted in the interpretation of hydrogeological environments displayed on conventional black-and-white aerial photography. Follow-up field data are available on 127 projects, which include 84 groundwater development investigations that we supervised fully from initial photo-interpretation studies to production-well installation, pump testing, data analysis, and evaluation of safe yield.Airphoto interpretation techniques proved helpful in correctly identifying commercial sources of groundwater in approximately 7 out of 10 projects. About half of the water sources were required for urban use and about one-quarter were required for a variety of industrial uses. Also, roughly half of the studies involved finding 10 to 60 Imperial gallons a minute (45.5 to 272.8 l/min) and roughly half involved finding 60 to 2000 Imperial gallons a minute (272.8 to 9092 l/min). Less frequently, the groundwater studies dealt with regional mapping of the surficial and bedrock hydrogeology, with setting up monitoring systems for the detection and surveillance of groundwater contamination, and with locating small groundwater supplies.

Abstract Objectives To investigate the effectiveness of the Lifestyle Eating and Performance (LEAP) program for reducing health-related Quality of Life (QoL) symptoms in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Methods A retrospective chart review was conducted of PCOS clients seen by registered dietitians from a private group practice during 2010–2018. The in-vitro Leukocyte Activation Assay (LAA-MRT) was used to identify hidden non-immunoglobulin E (non-IgE) mediated food allergies and chemical sensitivities. The registered dietitians developed a patient-tailored oligoantigenic diet program for each subject. The LEAP program is an elimination diet built on the selection of less reactive food and chemicals based on the LAA-MRT results. A symptom survey was used to assess the QoL at the first visit and each follow-up visit. The severity of symptoms over the past month was recorded and quantified based on the frequency of the symptoms from a scale of 0 (low) to 4 (high) with a minimum score of 0 and a maximum of 248 points. Descriptive statistics were created and reported as means for continuous variables. Mixed model analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed using R Studio Version 1.1.414 . The study received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval by California State University Sacramento. Results Subjects’ (n = 42) mean age was 35.2 years, and BMI was 34.4 kg/m2. The mean symptoms score at baseline was 72.5. After a personal eating plan was implemented based on the LAA-MRT results (mean 18.1 days following the plan), scores reduced to 29.3 (P < 0.001). The mean score at the second follow-up (mean 44.1 days) was 19.9 (P < 0.001), and at the third (mean 60.0 days) was 14.7 (P < 0.001). Conclusions Findings from this pilot study highlight that a comprehensive, tailored dietary program can effectively achieve improvements in QoL for women living with PCOS.
