<p><em>This study aimed to describe: (1) The character of the main character in the novel Sendalu Syafullah Chavchay work; (2) the impact of the example of the character of the main character in the novel Sendalu Syafullah Chavchay work; (3) the effect of exemplary character formation of the main characters in the novel Sendalu Syafullah Chavchay work. The data source of this research is the novel Sendalu Syafullah Chavchay works published by Kompas in Jakarta in 2006. There is no way of collecting data: (1) understand the content of the novel Sendalu; (2) mark each part novel that supports the characters; (3) the recording of data on the character by looking at the problem in a recording format; (4) pengiventarisasian inventory data in accordance with the format. Analyzing descriptively. The final conclusion (1) The main characters are bad characters such as: hipersex, violent, sadistic, cruel and rapists; (2) the impact of the example that given to the main character was the example that is not good, so the characters Lumang be bad; (3) the influence of role models on the formation of visible characters from bad influences, it was due to the influence of exemplary family environment often shows copulation in front of his own son, so there is a desire to imitate what their parents act.</em><em></em></p><p> </p><p>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) Karakter tokoh utama dalam novel Sendalu karya Chavchay Syafullah; (2) dampak keteladanan terhadap karakter tokoh utama dalam Novel Sendalu karya Chavchay Syafullah; (3) pengaruh keteladanan dalam pembentukan karakter tokoh utama dalam novel Sendalu karya Chavchay Syafullah. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah novel Sendalu karya Chavchay Syafullah yang diterbitkan oleh Kompas di Jakarta tahun 2006. Ada pun cara pengumpulan data yaitu: (1) memahami isi novel Sendalu; (2) menandai setiap bagian novel yang mendukung karakter tokoh; (3) pencatatan data tentang karakter tokoh dengan melihat permasalahan dalam sebuah format pencatatan; (4) pengiventarisasian data sesuai dengan format inventarisasi. Penganalisisan dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan (1) karakter tokoh utama adalah karakter buruk seperti: hipersex, beringas, sadis, kejam dan pemerkosa; (2) dampak keteladanan yang yang diberikan kepada tokoh utama adalah keteladanan yang tidak baik, sehingga karakter Lumang menjadi buruk; (3) pengaruh keteladanan terhadap pembentukan karakter terlihat dari pengaruh yang tidak baik, hal itu disebabkan pengaruh dari keteladanan lingkungan keluarga yang sering memperlihatkan persetubuhan di depan anaknya sendiri, sehingga ada keinginan untuk mencontoh perbuatan yang dilakukan orangtuanya.<em></em></p>

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan: (1) mendeskripsikan insting perilaku purposif tokoh dalam konteks keputusan menjadi seorang caleg, (2) mendeskripsikan dampak insting perilaku purposif tokoh terhadap diri tokoh mengambil keputusan novel Namaku Subardjo karya Hapsari Hanggarini. Metode yang digunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Teori yang digunakan penelitian ini teori psikologi sastra insting purposif McDougall. Sumber data secara eksplisit berupa dokumen, yaitu novel Namaku Subardjo karya Hapsari Hanggarini terbitan tahun 2015. Data penelitian berupa kalimat atau dialog, satuan cerita yang mengarah pada insting perilaku purposif yang dilakukan tokoh. Pemerolehan data menggunakan teknik membaca dan mencatat informasi terkait insting kutipan novel. Hasil penelitian dalam novel Namaku Subardj menunjukkan:  (1) bentuk perilaku insting purposif tokoh utama berupa insting menyelamatkan diri, insting penasaran, insting berkontruksi, insting penuntutan, dan insting tertawa dan (2) dampak perilaku dalam pengambilan keputusan, yakni insting perubahan perilaku purposif tokoh dengan lebih meningkatkan kualitas diri melalui literasi untuk menjadi caleg. Kata Kunci: insting, perilaku, psikologi, purposif   AbstractThe research aims to (1) describe the character’s purposive behavior instincts in the context of the decision to become a legislative candidate, (2) describe the impact of the character’s purposive behavior instincts in the novel Namaku Subardjo by Hapsari Hanggarini. The method used descriptive qualitative. The theory used research is McDougall’s purposive instinct pschology theory. The data source is explicity, the novel Namaku Subardjo by Hapsari Hanggarini published in 2015. The data of this research is in the form of sentence or dialogue, a story unit that leads to the character’s. The results of the research can be understood Namaku Subarjo’s Novel, (1) The form of purposive instinct behavior in the main character is the instict to save oneself, The curios instinct, the construct instict, the instict for prosecution and the laugh instinct, and (2) The impact of behavior in decision making is the instinct for purposive behavior. This paper aims to describe the female characters in the novel Kabar Bunga by Marsiraji Thahir, the conflicts and its causes, and the impact of the conflicts experienced by women in the novel Kabar Bunga by Marsiraji Thahir. This novel is examined by a psychological approach in literature, a literary approach that emphasizes the psychological aspects of the types and laws of psychology that can be applied to literary works. The data is qualitative since the purpose of this research is to explain or describe the phenomena of the researches deeply. The data were obtained by categorizing all the related dialogues in the story, then psychologically analyzed. Triangulation was used to validate the data.  After finishing all the steps of analyzing data, the interpretations were made based on the data and the theory. The results of the research were, psychologically, the main character in this novel is described as a person who often feels worried, frightened, keeping the reality up, and she is burdened by the problems faced. This portrayal is the representation of Wulan as a woman and woman emotionally and mentally is depicted as a weakness persona without having the ability to solve the problems.

Abstract  This ressearch has title” The Impact of  The Fourth Main Characters’  Life Problem Toward Their Characteristic In The Novel  Auto By Natsuo Kirino”. The objects ressearch is novel Auto by Natsuo Kirino that was published in 1997. This ressearch has aim to get the description of characteristic structure of the four main characters that includes id, ego, and superego, and also about what are the effects of life problem toward their characteristics. The theoritical approach that is used in this ressearch is to answer those both problems and  uses Sigmund Freud’s Psychoanalisist.From the characteristics ressearch result of the four main characters, they are Masako, Yayoi, Yoshie, and Kuniko,  it is proved that their characteristics are more dominated by id impuls than ego impuls or superego. This is because work characteristic of  id is pleasure principle to reduce tension or problem.The impact of life problem toward the characteristic of four main characters is descibed below.  Masako has problem when she is never respected in her workplace. Difficult communication with her husband and her  household that is not harmonious and her relationship with her children is not getting well. Those problems effect she does main action to reduce her tension in her life. She also helps her friend, Yayoi by throwing away Yayoi’s husband corpse that had been mutilated. Yayoi has problem with her husband who never respects her and her household that is not harmonious. Solution that is done by Yayoi because of  household problem is by doing main action by killing her husband. Another character, Yoshie has a problem  where she must nurse her mother in law who always  grumble and gets angry to her when she come late. She must also work in the night to earn money to fulfill her  needs. Those facts cause fury  to Yoshie, so that she wants to kill her mother in law. Yoshie wants to leave out all her burdens and tensions by helps Masako to throw away Kenji’s corpse (Yayoi’s husband). Another character,  Kuniko has problem about she feel that she has no face beauty and perfect body shape, so that she lives in luxurious way and has many debts to the creditors to cover her lack. This study aims to reveal the character of one of the main characters, Honami in the Holy Mother novel. The data source in this study is the Holy Mother novel wrote by Japanese author Akiyoshi Rikako,which has been published in Indonesia in 2016. The technique used for data collection in this study is library techniques. The method usedin conducting this research was the psychoanalysis method which was first put forward by Sigmund Freud. The results showed that based on psychoanalytic studies, the main character of the novel,a woman namedHonami, showed that the Id aspectinfluences all of herthoughts and actions. This was triggered by various events, namely herown misfortune which had many miscarriages and had a disease that made it difficult for herto get pregnant, and Kaoru's existence that changed herlife to became more meaningful. The emergence of fear and concern for her daughter because of the successive killings that struck a small child in the city where she lived, making her falsify and obscure the fact that Makoto, wascommitted murder to protect her daughter. The results also showed thatthe personality of the main character, Honami, is dominated by an element of the Egopersonality that defeats the Superego.

AbstrakPenelitian terhadap novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kesantunan tindak tutur menyuruh pada tokoh protagonis dalam novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye. Data penelitian ini adalah tindak tutur direktif menyuruh pada tokoh protagonis dalam novel tersebut. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara membaca dan memahami novel, mencatat kata, frasa, klausa, dan kalimat tokoh yang dapat dirumuskan sebagai bagian dari tuturan maupun tindak tutur menyuruh, dan menginventarisasikan data berdasarkan masalah-masalah tindak tutur direktif yang terdapat dalam novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye. Data dianalisis dan dibahas berdasarkan teori pragmatik. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan sembilan tuturan tindak tutur direktif menyuruh, yang menunjukkan bahwa tokoh protagonis dalam novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga karya Tere Liye cenderung melakukan tindak tutur menyuruh secara santun. Strategi bertutur tokoh utama dalam novel cenderung menggunakan tindak menyuruh kepada adik-adiknya. Kata kunci: tindak tutur direktif menyuruh, pragmatik, novel, Bidadari-Bidadari Surga AbstractThis research on the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga by Tere Liye aims to explain the politeness of the speech acts of the protagonist in Tere Liye's novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data source in this research is the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga by Tere Liye. The data of this research are directive speech acts ordered to the protagonist in the novel. Data were collected by understanding the novel, noting down words, phrases, clauses, or sentences that can be formulated as part of speech acts, and making an inventory of the data based on the problems of directive speech acts contained in Tere Liye's novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga. Data were analyzed and based on pragmatic theory. The results of this study shows nine directive ordered speech act utterances, which indicate that the protagonist in the novel Bidadari-Bidadari Surga by Tere Liye tends to perform speech acts politely. This study aims to describe the principles of nationalism in the Jprut novel by Putu Wijaya. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data source in this research is Jprut's novel by Putu Wijaya. Data collection techniques in this research are done by reading and taking notes and analyze techniques. The reading technique is related to reading and understanding the contents of the novel, while the writing technique is used to record important data or information related to the values of nationalism contained in Jprut's novel by Putu Wijaya. The results of this study indicate four principles of nationalism from the five existing principles. First, the aspect of unity described in the spirit of mutual cooperation delivered by Bung Karno by the main character. The aspect of independence described by the main character in freedom of speech. The aspect of equality illustrated by the anger of local residents when the main character's house flew the flag upside down, and the last is the aspect of personality that is shown by the attitude of the main character that is different from other residents.

This study aims to reveal rebellion of main character in Lauren DeStefano’s Wither. The discussion is focused on Rhine’s rebellion which is trigerred by dystopian-life happened in the society. In revealing the rebellion reflected in the novel, Mercuse’s theory of rebellion and Millner’s theory of dystopian-life are applied. The research method applied in this study is descriptive qualitative with intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Based on the analysis, the writer finds out that among the nine dystopian society characteristics, the writer has found five characteristics that are reflected in Wither, namely the society is an illusion of utopia world; the natural world is being a banished and distrusted world; perception under constant surveillance; fear ot the outside world; and information, independent thought, and freedom are restricted. In addition, the analysis of the main character’s rebellion shows that the rebellion happens as the impact of dystopian society faced by the main character. Rhine’s rebellion is done in four ways – having intention to escape from Linden’s house, refusing to be consummated by her husband, having relationship with Gabriel, and escaping. The reasons of Rhine’s rebellion are wanting to be reunited with her brother and wanting to have freedom. After doing the analysis, the writer finds out that science and technology should be developed for human’s better condition. Science and technology must not be expected beyond God’s power. When science and technology is developed without consideration in terms of humanity, it will result in chaosness.

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini mengangkat latar belakang permasalahan ekonomi yang dimiliki oleh tokoh utama yaitu, Putri dan Diaz. Putri dan Diaz yang harus berusaha sendiri untuk bertahan hidup dan membiayai pendidikan mereka. Lembar demi lembar kertas yang sudah tidak terpakai, di tempat tumpukan sampah dikumpulkan mereka untuk bisa bersekolah. Lika-liku perjuangan menuju sekolah yang penuh perjuangan, sera Ibu mereka yang harus bekerja dengan keadaan sakit-sakitan, sedangkan Ayah mereka yang telah lebih dulu meninggal. Akan tetapi, hidup kedua kakak beradik tersebut lebih berat, ketika ditinggal oleh kedua orang tuanya. Permasalahan ini yang mengakibabtkan, mimpi tokoh utama harus belajar bertahan hidup, kerja keras, dan terus mengejar impian. Untuk mengungkap permasalahan tersebut maka,  metode yang digunakan adalah teori mimpi psikologi Sigmund Freund. Tujuan dari penelitian: (1) Tokoh utama yang ingin mendapatkan kehidupan yang lebih layak; (2) mendapatkan penghasilan untuk membiayai pendidikan; (3) menjadi orang yang pekerja keras dan pantang menyerah. Simpulan dari penelitian: (1) mimpi dari tokoh utama; (2) faktor mimpi tokoh utama; (3) dampak mimpi tokoh utama dalam kehidupan.KATA KUNCI: Mimpi, pendidikan, kerja keras THE DREAM BUILDING OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THE NOVEL OF THE SHEET MEANS THE WORKS OF SURYAMAN AMIPRIONO ABSTRACT: This research raises the background of economic problems that are owned by the main characters, namely, Putri and Diaz. Putri and Diaz who have to try themselves to survive and pay for their education. Sheet after sheet of paper that is not used, they collect in the trash pile to be able to go to school. The twists and turns of the struggle to school are full of struggles, as their mother has to work sickly, while their father has died earlier. However, the lives of the two siblings were tougher, when their parents left them. This problem causes the main character's dream to learn to survive, work hard, and continue to pursue dreams. To solve this problem, the method used is Sigmund Freund's psychological dream theory. The objectives of the research are: (1) the main character who wants to get a more decent life; (2) earn income to finance education; (3) become a hard worker and never give up. Conclusions from the study: (1) the dream of the main character; (2) the main character's dream factor; (3) the impact of the main character's dream in life.KEY WORDS: Dreams, education, hard work

This study explores the character of Takezo the ronin in Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa through the psychological perspective of aggression. This research specifically aims to (a) explore Takezo's psychology of aggression as a ronin and (b) the impact of Takezo's aggression on others. The approaches used in this research are the psychology of literacy and the psychology of aggression. The method used is qualitative; it uses data exposure and interpretation. The data source is the novel Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa (translated version in Indonesian). The data used is in the form of text that is relevant to Takezo's psychology of aggression. The data analysis techniques are carried out in five stages, (1) identifying data related to Takezo's psychology of aggression, (2) data classification related to Takezo's psychology of aggression, (3) data presentation related to Takezo's psychology of aggression, and (4) summarizing data related to Takezo's psychology of aggression. The results showed that Takezo's aggressions are represented in the form of thoughts and behaviour. Takezo's aggressive thoughts are wanting to defeat and kill his enemies. Takezo's aggressive behaviour is killing his enemies, who are samurai. Takezo's aggressions cause the impact of physical category, and they are death and disability on the defeated samurai. Besides, in the psychological category, Takezo's aggressions cause fear and hatred in society. It is concluded that Takezo represents ronin, which desires destructive aggression that has a physical and psychological impact on others.

This research entitled “The Personality of the Main Character as Reflected in Paulo Coelho’s The Devil and Miss Prym” is intended to find out the personality of the main character and factors that influence the personality of the main character. This research uses descriptive qualitative method since the researcher does not apply any quantitative analysis or statistical procedures. The researcher uses the novel entitled The Devil and Miss Prym as the data source of the research. The methods used in collecting the data are observation and documentation. In observation method, the researcher reads the chosen object critically, and then identifies the psychological conflicts. After reading and identifying, the researcher collects and writes all data supporting the research. While in the documentation method, the researcher uses some related books and other documents collected from internet to support this research. In analyzing the data, the researcher applies descriptive qualitative method. He uses the descriptive qualitative method to collect the data and analyzes it by using Sigmund Freud’s personality theory. The result shows that the personality of the main character is influenced by internal and external factors. The internal factor consists of heredity features relating to physic, psychological features relating to physical state, and the heredity features of the character. The external factor consists of some part of life like family, environment, and job.
