Based on a detailed analysis of the global academic impact of China’s scientific journals, as well as of the publishing strategies and communication media used by their publishers, we conclude that the Science, Technology, and Medicine (STM) journal publishing industry in China is going through very rapid transformation. Journals are attempting to become more broadly international, and doing so by adopting new digital production methods and commercial models. In light of these efforts, we discuss the current challenges to the development of China’s scientific journal industry and suggest strategies that may be useful for reaching key goals.

For Sunan Kalijaga UIN, as well as for other universities in Indonesia, the development of science, technology, education, and community service requires competition in human resources and demands professionalism in research that is oriented to global competition. In response to this, universities require the publication of research results in journals that are globally competitive and clearly sized;specifically national and international scientific journals. The question in this study is whether the academics of UIN Sunan Kalijaga have carried out professional research oriented to the advancement of needed education in regard to the nation’s future. Research using this quantitative approach will answer these questions: (1) How research development maps are carried out by lecturers or researchers in the environment of Sunan Kalijaga UIN, and (2) Is there a link between the frequency of conducting research with scientific journal writing? The results and research findings indicate that the research activities of academics within UIN Sunan Kalijaga tend to only be conducted once a year (45.36%). Of that percentage, 19.59% is dominated by research conducted by Lecturers. The largest research fund acquisition is less than 20 million, attained by 40.20%, and is dominated by those with the rank of Lecturer (16.40%), as well as research funds obtained from outside the UINSunan Kalijaga, of which the majority is also less than 20 million, obtained by 34.02%, in which the highest was only one study, or 30.93%. Meanwhile, when viewed from the intensification of writing in scientific journals, the majority of lecturers tend to only write once a year; reaching 42.27%. The writing for scientific journals from the results of the highest research was carried out by those who wrote one time (31.96%), and the highest was done by those who conducted one-time research, which reached 15.46%. Even so, there are still lecturers in a relatively dominant number, namely 35.05%, who express uncertainty in writingfor scientific studies.[Keberadaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga sebagaimana perguruan tinggi lain di Indonesia sebagai pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, pendidikan, pengabdian pada masyarakat mensyaratkan peran kompetisi sumber daya manusia, dan menuntut profesionalitas penelitian yang berorientasi pada kompetisi global.

ABSTRACKScientific journals are an effective means of publishing scientific articles for the general public. In order for scientific journals to be accepted by national and international circles, the insight aspirations and confinement styles must refer to national and international standards. Articles designed to be published in scientific journals, in addition to being written in a scientific manner, must also follow the guidelines required by the intended scientific journal. In order for the article to be sent according to criteria and accepted by the journal, at least it must fulfill three elements, namely the suitability of the field of science, the standard grammar, and the special style (cellulite style) required by an article journal to be sent.

Science Education is a multidisciplinary field of study with roots about three centuries ago. Researches in this field were published for the first time in a scientific journal with School Science and Mathematics, which started in 1901. The number of scientific journals in Science Education has increased in parallel with the increase in the number of related research. The published literature is sometimes about trending topics. In some other cases, they offer novelty and new paradigms. Last 50 years of Science Education are shaped by various topics. Hence, these different issues are being published in scientific journals. At the end of the 70s, studies on constructivism, meaningful learning, misconception, conceptual learning (Driver, & Easley, 1978; Driver, 1983; Driver, & Oldham, 1986; von Glasersfeld, 1984; Ausubel, Novak, & Hanesian, 1978; Novak, 1979 & 1990, Novak, & Gowin, 1984; Novak, & Musonda, 1991) began to come forward. Conferences are being held especially on misconception. Many articles have been published and continue to be published on the topic. Starting with the second half of 80s, studies on PCK, which were first described by Shulman, began to surface in science education journals in the field of teacher training (Shulman, 1986; Usak, 2009, Usak, Ozden, & Eilks, 2011; Usak, Ozden, & Saglam, 2011).

The scientific publishing industry has witnessed a plethora of innovations across the life cycle of writing, publishing and archiving of scientific journals. Open access is only the visible tip of an iceberg that contains new players and new services and modes of publishing—which span from new review processes, online citation indexes and social media tools—that have become available over the past 20 years. One might have the impression that disruptive innovations are underway and that many of the well-established themes of digital transformation, such as business model and service innovation, disintermediation, ProSuming and new pricing models, have had a profound impact on the market of scientific journals. Nonetheless, the commercial academic publishing houses (the incumbents) so far have not only successfully defended but even extended their market position. By categorizing the innovations underway and relating them to the constellation of actors in this market, the authors reflect on and try to explain the lasting influence of traditional publishers in the market.

The purposes of this research are to find out a) the strategies in human resources development to improve the quality of Postgraduate lecturers at IAIN Curup, (b) supporting factors, and  (c) the obstacles of human rights development. Using qualitative research method, the data were collected through interviews and documentary study. The research results showed that the strategies used for developing human resources or improving the quality of postgraduate lecturers include: (1) organizing the research methodology training; (2) holding the scientific journal writing training; (3) holding book writing/teaching materials training; and (4) involving lecturers into National and International Seminars. Supporting factors for human resource development are (a) high commitmentof  IAIN Curup Postgraduate management, (b) organization and socialization activities for professors acceleration programs, and (c) conducting coaching clinic activities for reputable international publications, in the form of programs to publish research results in reputable international scientific journals. Meanwhile, the obstacles are inadequate infrastructure and limited funds because there are still few students and tuition fee is still in the third category in the Ministry of Religion's General Cost Standards (SBU). The funds have not been fully handed over to the Postgraduate, because it is still centralized at the Institute, if the Postgraduate organize an activity, it must be approved by the Institute before it run.
