Safety is a major factor every flight. National aviation safety oversight is one of the functions that are the responsibility of coaching the Derectorate General of Civil Aviation to encure compliance with the standards, procedures and regulations, in order to see the fulfillment of the terms and condition in general aviation safety standards and safe operation of airports in particular that carried out by the organizers airports and other stakeholders. The method of analisys used to determine the operational supervision airport is gap analysis between the observation and collection of primary data from airport managers with operational safety performance indicator airport contained in KM, 24 2009 on Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 139 on the airport (aerodrome) issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The analysis showed that the safety oversight of the airport operation in airport Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang in the surveillance system consists of four systems which are airport management system, air side system control, the airport environment systems, inspection systems and reporting systems and safety management system has been appropriate and meets CASR 139.Pengawasan keselamatan penerbangan nasional merupakan salah satu fungsi pembinaan yang menjadi tanggung jawab Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Udara memastikan kesesuaian standar, prosedur dan peraturan terkait, guna melihat pemenuhan peraturan dan ketentuan standar dan keselamatan penerbangan pada umumnya dan keselamatan operasi bandar udara pada khususnya yang dilaksanakan oleh penyelenggara bandar udara dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya. Metode analisis yang digunakan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan pengawasan operasional bandar udara adalah metode analisis kesenjangan (gap analysis)antara hasil observasi dan pengumpulan data primer dari pengelola bandar udara dengan performance indicator keselamatan operasional bandar udara yang terdapat dalam KM. 24 Tahun 2001 tentang Peraturan Keselamatan Penerbangan Sipil Bagian 139 (Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 139) tentang Bandar Udara (Aerodrome). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pengawasan keselamatan operasi Bandar udara di Bandar udara Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang dalam sistem pengawasan terdiri dari 4 sistem yaitu sistem manajemen bandar udara, sistem control sisi udara, sistem lingkungan bandar udara, sistem pemeriksaan dan sistem pelaporan dan sistem Manajemen keselamatan sudah sesuai dan sudah memenuhi referensi CASR 139.

This parameter of the food products we cannot overlook or liberalize in any situation. More than two-thirds of diseases are spread through the contaminated or spoiled food source. Looking at the importance of quality and safety management issue, the various governments made a series of rules and regulations for the assessment of food products. This chapter explains the role of various assessment agencies and their rights and workflows.

Food safety has a critical bearing on social stability and the public's vital interests. In recent years, the food safety accidents have been occurring frequently, and to strengthening the food quality safety regulation has become the focus of attention. Utilizing information-based means to realize effective and rapid management of food safety has become the inevitable trend of food safety management. Purpose Public safety issues are highly concerned by the state and public. As an emerging network technology and industrial mode, Internet of Things (IoT) has great application prospect because of its architecture advantages and technical features, and has drawn wide attention from all walks of life. With the development of IoT, especially the putting forward of concept of public safety IoT, IoT has been a certain degree of application in the field of public safety. Because of that, public safety regulatory technology is improved. The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach By summarizing scholars’ research results, this paper analyzes the application of IoT in public safety regulation, points out the challenges in application, and then puts forward some suggestions, pointing out IoT development prospects in the area of public safety regulation. Findings The application of IoT in the field of public safety from the perspective of IoT architecture and the perspective of the main technologies of IoT is paid attention. And this market that IoT added to other services in the public sector would generate $4.6 trillion of net profit globally in the next decade. Therefore, government leaders and public safety organizations should start exploring the full potential that IoT could offer to public safety. Originality/value The research will develop the theory of IOT, which is valuable to strengthen the IOT technology innovation and the application extension. The application of IOT in public safety will enhance the ability to supervise the public safety and guarantee the safe social condition for people’s life. So it is valuable in theory and in practice.

The budget for disaster and safety management can be characterized as a large-scale public asset in which the government has a significant role. However, this budget has been managed in a somewhat scattered and inconsistent manner by different government ministries, until the Sewol ferry incident in Korea 2014. After the Sewol incident, the Ministry of Public Safety and Security has introduced a prior consultation system for budget allocation in the field of disaster and safety management, so that the budget can be reviewed in a holistic manner, effectively managed, and invested according to agreeable priorities. This study introduces the prior consultation system for the budget in disaster and safety management, which has been implemented since 2015, analyzes budget allocation procedures, and provides possible solutions to improve the current status of the prior consultation system for classification and prioritization. (1) The issues that were found in the budget plans for the fiscal years of 2016 to 2017 are, firstly, unclear classification criteria that made it hard to differentiate much more disaster-related programs and projects from less-related ones. Secondly, investment priorities of projects and programs for disaster and safety management are controversial, due to the lack of objective standards and procedures. To firmly settle down the prior consultation system, several possible solutions to these two main issues are suggested. (2) To improve actual budget classification, the current classification system needs to be reviewed at first, and social issues will be analyzed to be included as a criterion and, finally, authors will propose additional criteria and items based on the Disaster and Safety Management Framework Act. In order to improve prioritization procedures for budget allocation, disaster damage and loss are compiled to find implications and other related prioritization practices, such as prioritization in natural disaster-prone area improvement programs, which need to be analyzed to provide suggestions on improvement in prioritization. Through the proposed improvement of the classification system, projects that are not related to disaster safety are not included in the disaster safety project. Projects that are deeply related to disaster safety can be further explored. It is also recommended that an investment direction be established in consideration of damage characteristics through the investment priority improvement plan, and that qualitative assessment criteria should be considered in the criteria for similar projects, and weights should be required. The improvement measures derived can be used as follows: the scale can be clearly identified by clarifying the subject of the disaster safety budget. This gives a sense of where investment is lacking, and where it is sufficient. Investment priority is reviewed in a variety of ways, preventing budgetary bias in advance. As a result, these two improvements enable efficient operation of the disaster safety budget.

AbstractThis article examines how Chinese reformers have used a set of “fatality indicators” to deal with the serious work safety situation in the past two decades. It argues that the system of fatality indicators is a prudent strategy to tackle the responsibility deficiencies in the previous work safety regulatory system and strengthen the central government's supervision over local safety management. The primary purpose of implementing the fatality indicators is to shift local officials' focus from a GDP-centred growth mode to a new mindset of achieving a balance between economic development and social stability in local governance. The article also indicates that the decline in work-related fatalities in recent years is evidence of the effectiveness of the fatality indicators. These achievements aside, however, the introduction of fatality indicators is closely associated with an increase in local officials' dishonest reporting of real death tolls and the fluctuation in very serious accidents.

The positive reception of Wang and Burris’ photovoice method, published in 1997, has led to a proliferation of ways in which professionals deploy photovoice in a widening range of application fields, e.g., public health, social development and phenomenological research of human experiences. A scoping review method is used to obtain an overview of current photovoice designs and of application examples in the health and safety domain. The results show a variety of method designs. Our findings indicate that all of the photovoice designs are composed from different combinations of eleven process steps. Five generic objectives cover the range of application examples found in our literature study. We therefore condensed the variety into five generic photovoice designs for: (a) communication, (b) education, (c) exploration, (d) awareness, and (e) empowerment purposes. We propose this for use in a classification system. The potential for application of these photovoice designs in safety management is illustrated by the existence of various safety related application examples. We argue that the five generic designs will facilitate the implementation and usage of photovoice as a tool. We recommend that both a theoretical framework and guidance are further developed. We conclude that photovoice holds potential for application in health and safety management.

The authors in this article first identify the extent to which research articles published in three American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) journals included participants, age birth to 18 years, from international backgrounds (i.e., residence outside of the United States), and go on to describe associated publication patterns over the past 12 years. These patterns then provide a context for examining variation in the conceptualization of ethnicity on an international scale. Further, the authors examine terminology and categories used by 11 countries where research participants resided. Each country uses a unique classification system. Thus, it can be expected that descriptions of the ethnic characteristics of international participants involved in research published in ASHA journal articles will widely vary.
