Optimization of the masjid’s functions is one of the efforts to solve teenage spiritual crisis in Banda Aceh Municipality. This study aimed to investigate several concerns as the following: the position and functions of masjid, the conditions of the teenage spiritual crisis, and the optimization of masjid as an Islamic education facility in Banda Aceh.The study used the qualitative method. Data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The results of the study showed that masjid in Banda Aceh has become the center of Muslim community activities in terms of religious and educational affairs, among others (i.e., worship place). The teenagers in Banda Aceh have mostly faced spiritual crises such as ignoring adhan (calling for prayers), neglecting congregated payers, not performing any prayer at all, and being busy with activities. These issues were highly likely to be influenced by drugs, illegal racing, wasting time in coffee shops, and immoral behaviors (i.e., free sex). Therefore, masjid as an important Islamic education center has been optimized through several ways, two of which included regular Islamic learning groups and teenagers’ activities under the coordination of the masjid.

Moslem is a human obedience in submission to Allah SWT. The surrender to Allah SWT consists of spiritual and civic practices based on the Quran and Sahih Hadits. In community practices are influenced by how culture forms in society. Identity is part of the culture and social environment that can be shifted according to the dynamics of society life. Identity revolves around the space and time of every generation in the world of everyday life that comes from human thoughts and actions and evolves into real practice including Chinese culture which became a variety of Nusantara ethnic groups summarized in the activities of the Lautze 2 Mosque.  The aim of this article is to examine how a Chinese Muslim as an Indonesian Nation by maintaining Chinese cultural identity without conflicting with religious rules by making the mosque utilizes. The method used is descriptive qualitative method to analyze how the Lautze 2 Mosque in Bandung has an active role in community activities and da’wah. The result show that the Chinese Muslim community has an active role in the utilize of the Lautze 2 Mosque as a means of religious da'wah, has an active role in helping people regardless of ethnicity and customs but still maintaining their identity as Chinese Muslims.

Issues regarding intention in learning are fundamental in Islamic Education tradition of Malay Archipelago, however, remain unsettled among the community. The misconception about intention, selection of teachers and knowledge are exacerbated by the emergence of various thoughts that aiming for material, usefulness and pridefulness in learning. Therefore, this article will discuss the issues regarding intention, selection of teachers and knowledge in learning according to Malay manuscripts, the MSS 2906(B) Tibyān al-Marām Ṭalibah al-Ṭalabah. This manuscript is selected because it was the only manuscript that specifically and comprehensively discussing about Islamic education in Malay Archipelago. This research applied qualitative method and content analysis of Malay manuscript MSS 2906(B). Based on the analysis of this manuscript, it can be concluded that the most important intention in learning is solely to seek the pleasure of Allah on top of other ukhrawi and duniawi related purposes. This book also emphasizes the importance of correct selection of teachers, knowledge and books in learning process. There are several teacher attributes and four categories of knowledge needed in learning process. This study is expected to provide solution to the issues and confusion among the community including students regarding the concept of intention in Islamic education as well as selection of teachers and knowledge in learning. This study also will explore the other research related to Islamic education in the heritage of the Malay-Muslim community.  Keywords: Rules of conduct in learning; Islamic education curriculum, Teacher, Tibyān al-Marām, Manuscript studies Abstrak  Persoalan niat dalam belajar merupakan perkara paling asas dalam tradisi Pendidikan Islam Alam Melayu. Namun begitu, ia masih lagi mengundang kekeliruan dalam kalangan masyarakat tentang tujuan seseorang itu belajar. Kekeliruan ini bertambah serius dengan kemunculan beberapa faham asing yang menyempitkan tujuan belajar dan menjelaskan usaha tersebut adalah untuk tujuan material, gunaan dan kebanggaan. Begitu juga kekeliruan berlaku dalam aspek pemilihan guru dan ilmu. Walhal semua aspek ini amat penting dan ia banyak mempengaruhi kejayaan seseorang pelajar. Justeru, artikel ini akan membincangkan persoalan niat dan ketepatan pemilihan guru dan ilmu dalam belajar menurut salah satu manuskrip Melayu, iaitu MSS 2906(B) Tibyān al-Marām Ṭalibah al-Ṭalabah. Pemilihan manuskrip ini disebabkan ia merupakan satu-satunya manuskrip khusus dan ekstensif yang membicara pendidikan Islam Alam Melayu. Kajian ini mengaplikasi metode kualitatif dengan melakukan analisis mendalam terhadap kandungan teks manuskrip Melayu MSS 2906(B). Berdasarkan analisis kandungan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahawa niat yang paling utama dalam belajar ialah memperoleh reda Allah SWT di samping tujuan berkaitan ukhrawi dan duniawi yang lain. Begitu juga, kitab Tibyān al-Marām menegaskan bahawa para pelajar perlu memberi perhatian dan membuat pemilihan guru, ilmu dan kitab yang tepat dalam mengikuti proses belajar. Terdapat beberapa atribut guru yang perlu diperhatikan oleh para pelajar dan empat kategori ilmu yang perlu dijadikan asas semasa memilih ilmu yang ingin dipelajari. Dengan adanya kajian ini diharapkan dapat menyumbang kepada penyelesaian masalah dan kekeliruan dalam kalangan masyarakat dan pelajar tentang tujuan sebenar pendidikan Islam serta pemilihan guru dan ilmu semasa pengajian. Artikel ini juga selanjutnya akan meneroka pelbagai kajian lanjutan berkaitan pendidikan Islam dalam khazanah warisan masyarakat Melayu-Islam. The art of meusifeut is one of the local wisdoms of the Acehnese people in singing Acehnese poetry combined with distinctive movements. Meusifeut art is also one of Aceh's cultural heritage which contains Islamic characteristics in it and is currently starting to fade. The art of meusifeut is usually played by teenage boys where there is a sheikh who reads a verse and is followed by certain movements by the members. The verses recited in the art of meusifeut contain various values and deep meanings. This research was conducted to determine the value of Islamic education contained in the meusifeut verse. This study uses a qualitative method. Qualitative methods are carried out by collecting information by determining objects and topics, observation, determining informants, interviews, collecting data to analyzing data related to the art of Meusifeut. The research location is in Gampong Baet Mesjid, Sukamakmur District, Aceh Besar District. The focus of the study in this research is to find the value of Islamic education in Meusifeut's art poetry.Keywords: value, education, poetry, meusifeut, millennial. AbstrakSeni meusifeut merupakan merupakan salah satu kearifan lokal masyarakat Aceh dalam melantunkan syair-syair Aceh yang dipadukan dengan gerakan-gerakan yang khas. Seni meusifeut juga salah satu peninggalan kebudayaan Aceh yang mengandung ciri khas keislaman di dalamnya dan saat ini mulai memudar. Seni meusifeut biasanya dimainkan oleh kalangan remaja laki-laki dimana terdapat seorang syeh yang membacakan syair dan diikuti dengan gerakan-gerakan tertentu oleh anggotanya. Syair yang dibacakan dalam seni meusifeut mengandung berbagai macam nilai dan makna mendalam. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui nilai pendidikan Islam yang terkandung dalam syair meusifeut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Metode kualitatif dilakukan dengan  dengan cara mengumpulkan informasi dengan penentuan objek dan topik, observasi, penentuan informan, wawancara, pengambilan data hingga analisis data yang terkait dengan dengan syait seni meusifeut. Lokasi penelitian di Desa Baet Mesjid Kecamatan Sukamakmur Kabupaten Aceh Besar. The halaqah method was practiced in Islamic education since the period of Prophet Muhammad PBUH in order for convey knowledge and education to the Muslims. Continuity in applying the halaqah method in Islamic education has been continued as a legacy in Islam to continue the culture of knowledge established by the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. The establishment of pondok institutions, especially in the state of Kelantan, has demonstrated the application of the halaqah method in the teaching and learning system. Hence, the objective of this study is to study the history of halaqah method in education practised by Rasulullah SAW and also the applications of halaqah method in selected pondok’s, Pondok Pasir Tumbuh, Kota Bharu and Pondok Lubuk Tapah, Pasir Mas, Kelantan. This study uses a qualitative method based entirely on document analysis, interviews and observations to compile the data needed. The results of the study show that the halaqah method is still being used in pondok’s institutions eventhough the current globalization have changed the education system including the Islamic education. The halaqah method is still releven for improved knowledge among the Muslim community especially in pondok’s institutions in Kelantan. For conclusion, the applications of the halaqah method is important in Islamic education especially in pondok’s institutions as a model for practicing the Prophet's PBUH sunnah.

Abstract. The Islamic education, Islamic boarding schools and madrasas, have made a very significant contribution to the implementation of education and social reform. Through the teaching process, in which the kyai as the main figure and the use of the ‘yellow book’, traditional Islamic ideas colored the early days of growing awareness as a nation and a State. When the New Order government carried out the development and modernization of society, there was a revival of a Muslim group called the “new middle class santri”, which took place in line with the modernization that occurred in the traditional Islamic educational institutions of the pesantren. Then in the era of democratization, the world of Islamic education experienced growth and development in various religious institutions and styles. Most of the pesantren are still committed to maintaining a moderate religious style, recognized as the foundation for the development of civil society and the formation of a ‘distinctive’, friendly, moderate, and tolerant social-political identity of Indonesian society. The Muslim character is different from other regions, especially the Middle East which is the axis of the Islamic world. However, a small proportion of pesantren are thought to promote the growth of religious chauvinism, teach a ‘narrow’ interpretation of Islam and provide a framework of thought and action in responding to socio-political change which often takes the form of a ‘jihad’. This article tries to explore the contribution of Islamic education to social change in the Indonesian Muslim community. Abstark. Dunia pendidikan Islam, pesantren dan madrasah, memberikan kontribusi sangat berarti dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan dan reformasi kemasyarakatan. Melalui proses pengajaran, di mana kyai sebagai figur utama dan penggunaan ‘kitab kuning’, gagasan Islam tradisional mewarnai masa-masa awal tumbuhnya kesadaran sebagai bangsa dan Negara. Ketika pemerintah Orde Baru melakukan pembangunan dan modernisasi masyarakat, terjadi kebangkitan kelompok Muslim yang di sebut “kelas menengah santri baru”, berlangsung sejalan dengan modernisasi yang terjadi dalam lembaga pendidikan Islam tradisional pesantren. Kemudian pada era demokratisasi, dunia pendidikan Islam mengalami pertumbuhan dan perkembangan dalam beragam kelembagaan dan corak keagamaan. Sebagian besar pesantren masih tetap istiqomah dalam mempertahankan corak keagamaan yang moderat, diakui sebagai pondasi berkembangnya masyarakat sipil dan pembentukan identitas sosial-politik masyarakat Indonesia yang ‘khas’, ramah, moderat, dan toleran. Karakter Muslim yang berbeda dengan kawasan lainnya, khususnya Timur-Tengah yang merupakan poros dunia Islam. Namun ada sebagian kecil pesantren dianggap mendorong tumbuhnya chauvinisme keagamaan, mengajarkan penafsiran Islam yang ‘sempit’ dan memberikan kerangka pemikiran dan aksi dalam merespons perubahan sosial-politik yang seringkali berbentuk panggilan ‘jihad’. Artikel ini mencoba mengeksplorasi kontribusi pendidikan Islam dalam perubahan sosial masyarakat Muslim Indonesia.

The purpose of this study is to determine the meaning of coffee for Barista in specialty coffee shop. The concept used in this study is the concept of self-image or an individual image. The concept of self-image also explains the feelings and thoughts of individuals. The research method used is qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Whereas data collection is done by conducting observations, interviews and literature studies. The results of this study show that the meaning of coffee for Barista in specialty coffee shop is the deeper their understanding of knowledge about coffee, the stronger the meaning conveyed to their customers and also to increase the sense of self respect as Barista. Besides that, the interaction built between the Barista and the customers can also strengthen the characteristic of the coffee shops, which is to be the specialty coffee shop in the third wave era.

This research was conducted at PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh, with the aim to answer the question of how the payroll accounting system applied in PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh.This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data obtained from interviews and documentation studies, then analyzed interactively and lasted continuously until complete so that the data has been saturated. Activity in data analysis is data reduction, data presentation, treanggulation and conclusion / verification.The results show PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh has implemented a neat and well-payroll accounting system in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Payroll accounting system in PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh is used to overcome errors and irregularities in the calculation and payment of salary. Payroll accounting systems are designed by companies to provide a clear picture of employee salaries so that they are easy to understand and easy to use.

This article discusses the importance of vision and mission of the Islamic Education Lecturers (IELs) in teaching and learning (TnL). This study was fully conducted through qualitative method via case study. Six IELs were selected as participants and willing to be interviewed, and the data from the interview were supported by three Heads of Islamic Education Unit, 12 lecturers and 12 students. The data were triangulated with the data obtained through observation and document analysis. The data were analysed through N’Vivo software to generate a pattern of themes and characteristics of the vision and mission in TnL. The result found that there were six elements of vision and mission emphasized by the IELs in TnL. Five of them had formed a pattern. That five elements were; students receiving and appreciating, TnL objective achieved, spreading da’wah, moulding students attidtude and thinking, and achieving success in the world and the hereafter. Therefore, a model which is named as Model of the Vision and Mission Practice for the Excellent Islamic Education Lecturers was deloped. From the overall view, the emphasis on achieving mission and vision helps the IELs to successfully conduct TnL inside and outside classroom.

This research was conducted at International Elementary School Bunga Matahari,Banda Aceh for its homogeneity, both tribes, nations and religions. This diversity is interesting to have a further study in order to know the process of tolerance guiding in multicultural education. The results of the study show that there are some tasāmuh (tolerance) attitudes in multicultural education as mutual helps, mutual respects, mutual communications, mutual care, not to blame others, not to be selfish and inclusive. The tolerance attitudes which have been conducting at International Elementary School Bunga Matahari,Banda Aceh is in accord with the Islamic education system, but in the teaching of religious education for non-Muslims, not in accordance with the perspective of Islamic the education, the learning process is still discriminatory. The leading factors in supporting the tolerance implementation in multicultural education at National Elementary Bunga Matahari, Banda Aceh are dialogue, egalitarianism, impartiality, the 1945 Constitution, Article 29, 2nd paragraph, multicultural education which contains the values of pluralism and tolerance attitudes towards diversity. The inhibiting factors in developing tolerance attitudes are exclusiveness, learning model which tends to be dogmatic, religion is directed into not free variable, the solution of developing tolerance is that the educational implementation should be oriented on the value that will provide pressure point on how students see, understand, and face the diversity of life in multicultural education.

Competency is a standard of ability required to describe both qualitative and quantitative qualifications of a person. It also underlies the execution of professional duties or technical skills. A person is declared competent in a particular area if he masters the skills related to his field of work. To carry out his duties, a counseling teacher at MAN Rukoh Banda Aceh must perform his job professionally so that the counseling guidance process works well. This research discusses the professional competencies that must be owned by a counseling teacher to solve the learning problems experienced by students at MAN Rukoh Banda Aceh. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The data is obtained from observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that counseling teachers at MAN Rukoh have a relevant educational background. Eventually, they have professionally done their work and also responsibly solve student's problems. The counseling teachers at MAN Rukoh Banda Aceh provide individual services for students so that their learning problems can be solved well.
