This study is aimed to know whether picture and picture technique can improve students’ writing skill. The method used was quantitative research with one group pre-test and post-test research design. The population was the 11th grade students at SMK Tunas Bangsa. The sample was one class of mechanical engineering major and consisted of 35 students.The result showed that null hypothesis of this study was rejected. It is proved by the data from T-test that shows the Sig. 2 tailed is 0.000. This value is less than 0.05. Null hypothesis, therefore, was rejected. This study was focused on the effect of using collaborative writing on students’ achievement in writing recount text. The objective of this research was to find out the significant effect of collaborative writing on students’ achievement in writing recount text at students grade ten in SMK YP 1 HKBP Pematangsiantar. Two classes was taken as the sample of this research. The class X-MP as the experimental group that taught by using collaborative writing and X-MM as the control class taught by conventional method. This research design is quantitative research were gained by assessing the students’ writing skills through the pretest and posttest. The instrument of collecting data was writing test. After collecting data, it was found the main score of pretest to post test in experimental group was 48.47 to 89,647. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result showed that the t-test is higher than the value of t-table. (5. 68 > 1.69 (α = 0.05)) with the degree of freedom (df) = 32. Based on the data analysis of the study, the result indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of using Collaborative writing on students’ achievement in writing recount text of students grade ten in SMK YP1 HKBP Pematangsiantar.

Speaking is the one of language skill that is used in communication to deliver the intention of utterances. speaking is an activity that can not be separated with teaching and learning process. speaking has become a skill that should be owned by teacher. Information gap activity is the activity that each student have different information that should be completed with exchanging the information with their friend because there is a gap between the information. The objective of the research is whether information gap activity effective to the students’ speaking ability. The writer used quantitative research design and for the method is pre-experimental method. The participants of the research is X IPA 2 of MAN 4 Karawang consist of thirty two students. The data conducted through pretest and posttest and computed using SPSS 24. The result of the test is effective. From the normality of distribution test, the result of the test is normal, significance value on Kolmogrov Smirnov is 0.078 on pretest and 0.073 on posttest. It means the data is normally distributed because the value is higher than 0.05. The result of significance value is 0.312 it is higher than 0.05, as a result the test is homogen. Beside that, in one sample t-test, the result of significance two tailed is 0.000 and lower than 0.05. from the data above, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis of this research that is “Information gap activity is not effective to teach speaking” is rejected. In other word, it was proven that teaching speaking using information gap activity is effective to be used by teacher.Key words: Speaking, Information gap.

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Group Investi-gation (GI) model in learning to analyze cases of violations of the ITE Law at the Professional Ethics Course at STMIK Indonesia Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive analytical methods. The type of research design used is a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test designs. The data in this study are scores obtained by students in learning to analyze cases of violations of ITE law in the Professional Ethics Course at STMIK Indonesia Padang from the results of tests before and after using the Group Investiation learning model. The results of these tests were compared using the t-test formula to determine whether or not the effect occurred. The results of this study indicate that the GI model can improve the ability of students to analyze cases of violations of ITE law in the Professional Ethics Course at STMIK Indonesia Padang.

This research is aimed to find out whether using Anagram Game give significant effect on students’ vocabulary achievement at grade eight of SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar. Problem raised in this research is “What is the effect of Anagram Game on students’ vocabulary achievement at grade eight of SMP Negeri8 Pematangsiantar?”. To answer this problem the researcher uses some theories, namely: Bachtiar (2014), Harmer (2002), Hiebert and Kamil (2005), Hatch and Farhady (1982) and Sutherland (2009). This research is quantitative research design. Experimental was conducted as the method. The sample of this research are two classes which are VIII-4 as a control class because they are active with better achievement than other class and VIII-9 as an experimental class because they have lower achievement. The result shows that using Anagram Game on students’ vocabulary achievement at grade eight of SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar got high level where as the score of t-test (4.65) was higher than t-table (1.679) at level of significant 5% for two tailed test. So Null Hypothesis was rejected and Alternative Hypothesis was accepted. After analyzing the data, the researcher concludes that using Anagram Game significantly affect the students’ vocabulary achievement and her suggestion is English teacher should have creative method in teaching English to their students especially to increase their vocabulary by using Anagram Game, so that they are not boring to learn English and make the enjoy on it.

This study aimed at finding out the students’ speaking skill by using debate.The research design used a pre-experimental, in which it used the pre-test and post-test comparison to find out the result of the research. The population of the research was all students of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Perguruan Tinggi Islam Makassar which consisted of three classes. Each class consists of more than 20 students, so the total number of population was 85 students. Among the total number of population, the researcher took one class to be a sample of this research by using purposive sampling technique. The instruments of this research were speaking test and recording. To analyze the score of the students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test, the researcher used t-test analyses. The result of the data showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The value of t-test (6.35) was greater than the t-table (1.729) at the level of significant (p) = 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 19. It can be said that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Which means that there was a significant difference between the students’ speaking ability before and after using debate or it can be said that the use of debate was effective in improving the students’ speaking skill at the Eleventh Grade of SMA Perguruan Tinggi Islam Makassar?Keywords: Debate Technique, Speaking Ability

This research was aimed to know whether the " Pyramid Discussion" can give a significant influence toward the students' writing skill at the second year students’ of SMA Darul Hikmah in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. The research design of this study was pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test one group only. The population of this research was the second grade student of SMA Darul Hikmah Mataram in the Academic Year of 2016/2017 that consist of 33 students with 18 males and 15 females students. Meanwhile, the instrument of this research was pre-writing test. The technique of data analysis were descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the result of the data analysis as the mean score of pre-test was 22.5 and the mean score of post-test was 28.2 Whereas the score of t-test was 9.24 the score of t-table was 1.68 with 32 of freedom degree it was the confidence level of 0.05 or 90% the findings indicated that the value of t-test was higher than the value of t-table (9.24 >1.684). The conclusion of this research showed that " Pyramid Discussion" was significantly influenced the students' writing skill at the second year students’ of SMA Darul Hikmah in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. It can be conferred that the null hypothesis (Ho) was  rejected and therefore the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Finally the researcher may conclude that the use of pyramid discussion in teaching writing was significantly influenced.

Begin with the assumption that Portfolio Technique is a good technique in writing skill, the researcher explored a research conducted at University of Abulyatama. It was a quantitative research design. The population of this research was the fourth semester students of University of Abulyatama. There were twelve students, as the sample. Based on the research findings, the writer found that the mean score of pretest was 53, 04 and the mean score of posttest was 87, 5. The result of t-score from pre test and post test was 6,60 and t- table for degree of freedom (df) from the twelve students was 1,711 in the significance of 0,05. It indicated that t-score > t- table. Thus, it also indicated that the hypothesis was accepted. Questionnaires response also reflected that this technique is very helpful in helping students’ writing.

This research is to know is there is significant effect in reading comprehension achievement in X grade at SMK Walisongo 1 Gempol, being taught by suggestopedia method. This research uses quantitative research. The research’s object is X AK-2 of SMK Walisongo 1 Gempol has 28 students. The researcher divides the main activity into pre-test, treatment and post-test. Based on the SPSS 23 Program calculation from mean result of pre-test 70.1 and the result mean of post-test is 83.5. The students’ score is increasing after being given by the treatment. The result of the calculation of this research showed that (sig 2-tailed = 0.002) which is less from (<) 0.05 and significance 5%. It mean that the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. From the result of the data analysis above, the use suggestopedia method gives significant effect in students’ reading comprehension achievement This article investigates major points of the speech verbs. On this case, different meaning of verbs was analyzed from Russian into English.  Therefore, analyses of the theory with methodology were described to make better diffusion. To conclude with both outcomes and shortcomings were outlined to get further analyses as the whole.

This research was conducted to find out the effect using Edmodo application on the students’ writing skill of analytical exposition text at SMAN 4 Palangka Raya. Data of the students score of writing Analytical Exposition text was collected using writing test, and the hypothesis testing was examined based on t-test for normally because the data distribution was normal. A test in form of writing analytical exposition text was used the instrument to collect the data needed. Then, the data were analyzed by using parametric statistic dependent sample T – test because the data were normally distributed. The writer took conclusion based on statistical result. The result of this research shows that the critical value for students T distribution was 1.734 the critical value t0 was t05 {19} = 1.729. Because 1.734 is greater than 1.729, null hypothesis was rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there was significant effect of using Edmodo Application in writing Analytical Exposition Text gained by eleventh grade of SMAN 4 Palangka Raya. Thus, Edmodo Application had been successful in improving students’ writing ability of Analytical Exposition text. The researcher suggest that the teacher should provide an appropriate media in teaching English, especially for Analytical Exposition Text and made Edmodo Application as reference to him/her to use it for making students’ attracted to the material.

The Mean

The aim of this research was to motivate students by using social media to teach writing hortatory exposition text. The researcher chooses two media such us Instagram and Facebook. The application of teaching writing of hortatory exposition text at eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Ngadiluwih by using social media Instagram and Facebook to hold the interesting and enjoyable learning activity. This research was quantitative research approach, whereas the research design used true experimental. This research chosen randomly in Instagram class (social one class) and Facebook class (social two class). The instrument used in the research was writing test. The procedure lasted 4 meeting and 1 meeting to do test. The result of t-test showed that: the mean score of Instagram class (M= 68.79) is lower than Facebook class (M= 77.07), and independent sample t-test which values of the sig-2 tailed is 0.000 and 0.000<0.005. Thus, it can be concluded that Facebook is more effective than Instagram in teaching and learning English Hortatory Exposition Text.
