The paper presents the definition of innovation, advancement and development of the Fintech sector on the global scale, with particular emphasis put on Poland. Fintechs, i.e. IT companies that provide increasingly more modern solutions for customers active on the financial markets are not fully described in the literature on the subject. The aim of the paper was to present a comprehensive definition of Fintech, show the scale of this type of ventures around the world and in Poland, and analyze the forms and potential of the cooperation of Fintech companies with financial services entities, in particular with the banks. The article uses a critical analysis of the literature of mainly English-language studies from the last 5 years, indicating the state of financial innovations and their importance on the global scale. The author analyzed statistical data from PWC Global Fintech Report, CitiGPS reports, Capgemini reports and KPMG, which enabled her to present the value of global investments in Fintech. The performed cause and effect analysis indicates that investments in the Fintech sector are becoming more and more popular, that this market will be growing due to cooperation, among others, with the banks which want to meet the requirements of their customers using more advanced technologies.

According to a view widely held in the media and in public discourse more generally, online hating is a social problem on a global scale. However, thus far there has been little scientific literature on the subject, and, to our best knowledge, there is even no established scholarly definition of online hating and online haters in the first place. The purpose of this manuscript is to provide a new perspective on online hating by, first, distinguishing online hating from the phenomena it is often confused with, such as trolling, cyberstalking, and online hate speech, and, second, by proposing an operational definition of online hating and online haters based on ethnographic interviews and surveys of the existing scholarly literature.

Enormously complex and not well understood are some state of affairs for a bilingual to ‘change’ theuse of language from one to another when having conversation with other bilinguals in dailyconversation. This linguistics behavior of changing the language, or widely known as ‘languageswitching’ and ‘language mixing’, leads the researchers to find out the trigger behind this phenomenon. After done a research on Malaysian pre-school students, Karen Kow (2003) proposed some reasons ofdoing code switching and code mixing namely lack of one word in either language, to avoidmisunderstanding, to make a point, etc. However, students of graduated students of English LanguageStudies of Sanata Dharma University can be categorized as bilingual or multilingual since they employtwo even many languages in the daily conversation in their speech community. Therefore, by taking 12students of A class as the subject of the research through random sampling method, the discussion ofthis research will focus on investigating the reasons of both code switching and code mixing.

Background: The term “difficult intravenous access” (DIVA) is commonly used but not clearly defined. Repeated attempts at peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) insertion can be a traumatic experience for patients, leading to sub-optimal clinical and economic outcomes. We conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) to collate literature definitions of DIVA, with the aim of arriving at an evidence-driven definition. Methods: The SLR was designed to identify clinical, cost, and quality of life publications in patients requiring the insertion of a PIVC in any setting, including studies on US-guidance and/or guidewire, and studies with no specific intervention. The search was restricted to English language studies published between 1st January 2010 and 30th July 2020, and the Ovid platform was used to search several electronic databases, in addition to hand searching of clinical trial registries. Results: About 121 studies were included in the SLR, of which 64 reported on the objectives relevant to this manuscript. Prevalence estimates varied widely from 6% to 87.7% across 19 publications, reflecting differences in definitions used. Of 43 publications which provided a definition of DIVA, six key themes emerged. Of these, themes 1–3 (failed attempts at PIV access using traditional technique; based on physical examination findings for example no visible or palpable veins; and personal history of DIVA) were covered by all but one publication. Following a failed insertion attempt, the most common number of subsequent attempts was 3, and it was frequently reported that a more experienced clinician would attempt to gain access after multiple failed attempts. Conclusions: Considering the themes identified, an evidence-driven definition of DIVA is proposed: “when a clinician has two or more failed attempts at PIV access using traditional techniques, physical examination findings are suggestive of DIVA (e.g. no visible or palpable veins) or the patient has a stated or documented history of DIVA.”

The present paper is devoted to the investigation of the intention of a speaker or decoding the author's idea of a speech utterance. The purpose of this research is to study the idea or subject of speech activity by analyzing each stage of speech utterance generation from the external form of the text to the author's idea according to the model of A.A. Leontiev. To conduct this study some tasks were set and solved such as the task of visualizing of the operation of determining the basic semantic units of the subject content of speech, rendering of the operation of the definition of "hierarchy" semantic units in the "context" of a voice message, and visualizing of the operation of determining the display order of semantic elements in speech utterance. To analyze the results obtained at each stage of the study, various tools are used, such as existing programs for semantic text analysis and the method of constructing a denotative graph by A.I. Novikov. This work is carried out to determine the author's intention based on the material of texts of English-language blogs, since these texts can be considered as speech utterances presented in writing, having its own intention and directed at the addressee.

Microfinance refers to the provision of financial services like saving, microcredit, and insurance to the poor who have limited access to traditional banking services with the aim of reducing their poverty. However, in the last decade, the literature stresses that the microfinance institutions focus more on their profit rather than the customer. Numerous methods have been used to model customer satisfaction in microfinance. However, a large majority of these methods is unable to take into account complex interactions and dependencies between variables. They may also find difficulties in handling limited and uncertain knowledge. The objective of this article is to model the effect of microfinance-lending process operations on overall customer satisfaction. We managed to develop a fuzzy Bayesian networks model; such an approach is widely required for modeling complex systems characterized by sparse or uncertain information as well as for conducting the cause and effect analysis.

The integration of financial markets is one of the stages of economic integration. The trends for the integration of financial markets is observed both on a global scale, as well as its various regions. The integration of financial markets may occurs as a result of actions by the authorities, but also by the international free market processes – globalization. Speaking about the integration of EU financial markets, we mean creating opportunities for free movement of capital and financial services in the EU and the single currency. As a result of increase in the financial integration process in Europe the value of the flow of capital between countries has significantly increased. With the progress of economic integration in the EU, the EU as a whole has become a stronger business partner and was able to invest more beyond its borders, as well as more investments flowed from the third countries. The integration of financial markets through greater development of the financial markets is leading to faster economic growth. It can bring many benefits, but also risks. Benefits should be seen in the possibility to boost the GDP growth, the risks in the existence of increasingly stronger links between national markets and intermediaries acting on that markets. A particularly important issue is the contagion effect. Additionally, in case of institutional mismatches on the side of economic policy, financial integration can also have negative effects on the economy, such as greater probability of financial crisis and economic recession, because the price for increased integration of financial markets is an increase in the risk of financial crises. Economic growth stimulated by the development of financial markets should be accompanied by proper regulation of markets to prevent future crisis. However, it must be also remembered that the growth of the institutions may limit the development of markets.

The purpose of this study is to assess the performance of students in Communication Skills in two tertiary institutions in Sierra Leone – the Eastern Technical University and the Njala University. The introduction of Communication Skills into the curriculum of teacher training institutions is viewed as a reaction to the poor performance of students in the written and spoken use of the English Language. However, the introduction of Communication Skills at tertiary institutions is yet to remedy the situation. To guide the study properly, some objectives were developed. These include; an investigation of the extent to which English is used by lecturers and students in the institutions, an examination of students' attitude towards the learning of Communication Skills, an investigation to time allocation to the teaching of the subject, and an examination of the pedagogical capabilities of the Language studies departments of both institutions with regards their personnel, teaching methodologies, and the teaching/learning resources. The result of the study revealed the following: that students speak English seldom in class and within the campus and also very seldom in their homes; that Krio and other Sierra Leonean languages are widely spoken in these institutions as does the English Language; that the credit hours allocated to the teaching of the subject is insufficient; that students find some aspects of Communication Skills Challenging; and that although both institutions have general libraries, these libraries are not very well stocked with English textbooks.

The article is focused on meme-generating trends related to the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing a string of papers published on the issue of meme definition, classification and analysis. Based on modern European, American and Ukrainian research, this study is aimed at describing, analyzing and illustrating the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and its ‘newspeak’ on memes generated in 2020-2021 by the general public. Memes are a prominent part of communication and are defined as the main unit of cultural transgression or succession. Despite the definition of meme being vague and non-consistent in various language studies, the idea of its semantic ‘capacity’ remains the same. The article redefines the notion of ‘meme generator’ suggested in previous papers and analyzes the fundamental works of scholars pertaining to modern memes. The author suggests a timescale of the COVID-19 pandemic in memes and illustrates the changing public morale and attitude of society to the unprecedented situation. Several examples of memes have been given to showcase their cultural specifics. The results have shown that the current COVID-19 pandemic has made a profound impact on meme generation during 2020-2021, as well as analyzed the change of public opinion during this period through memes. This study offers multiple prospects, such as further research on the influence of current events on meme generation, cognitive studies of notions having appeared with the ‘new normal’ and their influence on English language memes generated on the daily basis, and gives prospects for a further study focused on memes, their history, variety and function in modern culture.

Introduction: the variety of interpretations of the category “municipal service” gives rise to semantic diversity and variability of interpretation of the concept. In this regard, the authors aim to conduct a historical research and comparative analysis of existing approaches to the definition of “municipal service”, presented in the legislation and legal science. Methods: the methodological framework for this study, which has a complex character, is a set of methods of scientific knowledge, among which the main ones are the comparative-historical, general scientific dialectical, logical-syntactic, and semantic methods of cognition, as well as the methods of cause and effect analysis, forecasting, synthesis and analysis. Results: in the paper the authors reveal the debatable aspect of the correctness of the use of the term “permanent basis” as a fundamental feature of the concept of “municipal service”, reveal its fundamental features, and study the semantic and syntactic meaning. Conclusions: the authors conclude that the cause of the variable interpretation of the concept under study in both objective and subjective senses is the interaction of these two sides of a single phenomenon, outside of which the statutory will cannot exist and be put into practice. The ways of further research in connection with the presence of the debatable theoretical legal category “public service” are also outlined.
