The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of three weeks of oxygen supplementation on oxygen saturation, lactate level, and heart rate (HR) responses of elite wrestlers. The subjects included fourteen elite male wrestlers, mean age of the experimental group was 19.87?0.35; the mean age of the control group was 19.62?0.51. Both groups had similar height, weight and fitness parameters. Before and after training, the heart rates, lactate levels and oxygen saturation values were recorded. Consistent with our hypothesis, the oxygen saturation (SpO2) values of the experimental group increased significantly (p<0.05) while lactate and heart rate values decreased significantly. When the pre-exercise levels of oxygen saturation were compared, the oxygen supplementation group displayed significant differences in the 2nd and 3rd weeks (P<0.05). Pre-training HR and lactate levels in the three weeks did not differ significantly. The experiment group had higher measured SpO2 values immediately after exercise in the 3rd week (P<0.05); HR and lactate levels declined after oxygen supplementation (P<0.05). Only in the 2nd and 3rd week, the HR values were lower in favor of the experimental group (P<0.05). Our findings indicate that oxygen supplementation does not have a chronic effect in increasing oxygen saturation and reducing HR and lactate values; however, oxygen saturation was found to be effective during the short-term recovery periods.

We determined whether a change in heart rate affected the decay of the ventricular inotropic response to sympathetic stimulation in an experimental group and in a control group of anesthetized dogs. We induced complete heart block in each animal and paced the ventricles at rates of 90, 120, and 150 min-1 during two observation periods. In the experimental group, desipramine hydrochloride was given during the second period to block the neuronal uptake mechanism. The control animals did not receive desipramine during either period. The time required for the ventricular inotropic response to decay by 50% after cessation of a 2-min train of sympathetic stimulation was used as an index of the rate of norepinephrine washout from the myocardial interstitium. As we increased the pacing rate over the range of 90-150 min-1 in the experimental group, the mean decay half times (+/- SE) decreased by 36 +/- 4% (P less than 0.001) before desipramine and by 26 +/- 6% (P less than 0.001) in the presence of desipramine. These decrements in the decay half times were not significantly different from each other. The mean decay half times decreased by 36 +/- 4% (P less than 0.001) in the control dogs; the effects did not change appreciably from the first to the second observation period. We conclude that an increase in pacing frequency facilitates the washout of norepinephrine from the ventricular myocardium; this facilitation is equally pronounced regardless of whether the neuronal uptake mechanism is intact or suppressed.

Abstract Background The knowledge and attitude of health care providers are important and influential factors in providing care services to the elderly and need to be considered during the training course. Simulation in geriatric nursing education can be an opportunity for learners to experience the restrictions of the elderly. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of training through simulation on the attitude and knowledge of nursing students in elderly care. Methods This study was quasi-experimental with two experimental and control groups of pre and post-test, which was conducted on 70 nursing students of the 5th semester (two groups of 35 people). For the experimental group, the elderly simulation suit was worn for two hours, which was designed by the researcher and created sensory, physical, and motor restrictions similar to the elderly for students. Before and after the study, Kogan’s attitudes toward older people scale and Palmore’s “facts on aging quiz” were completed by students. The data were analyzed using an independent t-test and paired t-test using SPSS version 16 software. Results The mean scores of students’ knowledge in the experimental and control groups had no significant difference at the beginning of the study (p < 0.05). But the mean scores of knowledge in the experimental group before and after the intervention was (9.2 ± 2.6) and (15.3 ± 3.5), respectively, and in the control group before and after the intervention was (10.4 ± 2.9) and (11.3 ± 2.6), respectively, which had a statistically significant difference (p = 0.0001). The mean scores of students’ attitudes in the experimental and control groups had no significant difference at the beginning of the study (p < 0.05). The mean scores of attitude in the experimental group before and after the intervention was (114.69 ± 8.4) and (157.31 ± 10.7), respectively and in the control group before and after the intervention was (113.34 ± 13.6) and (108.5 ± 16.6), respectively, which was significantly different (p = 0.0001). Conclusions Based on the findings, the experience of aging restrictions through simulation has improved the knowledge and attitude of nursing students towards the elderly. Nursing education requires the growth of attitudinal skills, individuals’ beliefs, and creating empathy among them, so creating simulation opportunities can assist nursing students in the educational processes.

AbstractRecently, it has been reported that tear osmolarity (Tosm) is correlated with plasma osmolarity and will increase during exertion. We aimed to assess whether inhaling oxygen-enriched air between exercises could significantly change the Tosm value. Thirty men aged 24.9 years were included in the study. A cycloergometer was used to perform the exercise protocol. We recorded the participants’ Tosm (mOsm/L), heart rate (HR, beats/minute), oxygen saturation, and blood pressure values. After the first exhaustive exercise (T1), participants inhaled oxygen in the experimental group and a placebo in the control group. After the second exercise (T2), another set of measurements was obtained. The Tosm value before exercise was 297.4 ± 1.21 and 296.53 ± 1.11 mOsm/L (p = 0.61718) and the HR was 72.6 ± 2.59 and 73 ± 2.59 beats/minute (p = 0.39949) in the study and the control group, respectively. At T1, Tosm was 303.67 ± 1.25 and 302.2 ± 1.25 mOsm/L (p = 0.41286) and the HR reached 178.04 ± 2.60 and 176.4 ± 2.60 beats/minute (p = 0.65832), respectively. At T2, Tosm in the study group reached 305.73 ± 0.86 mOsm/L (correlation with the use of oxygen: r = −0.3818), and in the control group, it was 308.4 ± 0.86 mOsm/L (p = 0.0373), while the HR reached 172.20 ± 2.53 beats/minute in the study group and 178.2 ± 2.53 beats/minute in the control group (p = 0.057). It was concluded that inhaling oxygen before and after exercise could increase the rate of recovery after exhaustive exercise.

Abstract Background Good oral health (OH) is essential for physical, social, mental health, and overall quality of life. This study assessed the usefulness of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in changing oral health-related behaviors among school children aged 11–13 years in Saveh, Iran. Methods In this descriptive before and after study, participants were sixth-grade students at single sex primary schools in Saveh city, Iran. We recruited 356 school children in 2019. Using simple random sampling, a male and a female school per district were allocated to the experimental group and the remaining schools to the control group. Our planned oral health education consisted of four one-hour training sessions over 1 week. The first session familiarized the participants with important information about OH. In the second session, we applied a brain storming exercise to identify the benefits and barriers to flossing and brushing. In the third session, a short film about correct brushing and dental flossing technique was shown and research team also used role-playing to correct any mistakes. In the final session students were taught about the importance and the application of OH planning and given forms to help plan for brushing. Results Participants for the study included 356 students (180 in the experimental group and 176 in the control group) who completed the post-test questionnaire. The mean age ± standard deviation was 11.55 years ±0.93 in the experimental group and 11.58 years ±1.01 in the control group. After the intervention, the paired t-test indicated a significant difference between the mean and standard deviation of the action plan and coping plan constructs in the experimental group before and after the intervention (p < 0.05). Covariance analysis indicated a significant difference between scores of intervention and control groups under statistical control of post-test in two groups (covariate) after a peer-led education program (post-test) (p < 0.05). Conclusion A shortage of professional health workers in education settings together with the ease, usefulness and low-cost of this peer-led method, suggest further steps should be taken to implement it more widely to improve and enhance primary school aged students’ oral health behavior.

The study was aimed to evaluate the effect of sunlight on vitamin D and calcium status among the college girls, aged 18 – 22 years. One hundred and fifty girls were selected out of which 45 with vitamin D deficiency were considered for experiment. The participants were divided into three groups of 15 each: Experimental I - curd supplementation, exposure to sunlight and nutrition education; Experimental II - exposure to sunlight and nutrition education and Control group with no intervention. Anthropometric measurements, blood haemoglobin, serum vitamin D and calcium were analysed before and after supplementation for 50 days. In the experimental group I, there was a mean increase of 3.22 ng/ml of vitamin D and was significant at 1% level and in the experimental group II the increase was 1.03 ng/ml (significant at 5% level). There was a mean difference of 1.57 ng/ml in the control group which was not significant. The mean initial calcium level in the experimental group I was 9.33 mg/dl and the final value is 9.67 mg/dl and the increase was significant at 1% level. The experimental group II had a mean initial calcium level of 9.36 mg/dl and the mean final value of 9.56 ml g/dl. The mean difference of 0.05 mg/dl was noted in serum calcium before and after supplementation in the control group. The experimental group I showed a positive correlation of 0.035 between vitamin D and sunlight whereas in experimental group II and control group there was a negative correlation of 0.045 and 0.072 respectively. It can be concluded that sunlight had an effect on vitamin D status and the calcium level of the participants further highlighting that sunlight exposure is an effective method of improving the vitamin D status.

<p><em>Dengue vector control has been done in various ways, however, has not been able to obtain optimal </em><em>results. Ovirap use to determine the presence of Aedes sp in a region is often done, but the application </em><em>of lethal ovitrap for population control Aedes sp still rarely done. This study was aimed to assess the </em><em>effect of LO applications on populations of Aedes sp. </em></p><p><em></em><em>This research includes quasi experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group without </em><em>randomization. Research sites in dengue in endemic areas in Banyumas district, with a total sample of </em><em>100 homes in each treatment and control areas. Insecticides used on ovistrip is cypermethrin at a dose </em><em>of 12.5 mg ai/strip. Populations of Aedes sp measured each week for three weeks prior to the </em><em>intervention and twelve weeks during the intervention. The mean density of Aedes sp compared before </em><em>and after intervention and between treatment and control areas.</em><br /><em>The study showed the difference of mosquito densities before and after the intervention in the </em><em>experimental group was 0,07 ( p-value 0.044), whereas the control group was 0.037 (p-value 0.341). </em><em>LO use with the addition of insecticide active ingredient cypermetrin on ovistrip impact on the decline </em><em>density of Aedes sp.</em></p>

Background. Cardiovascular system recovery after physical activity with explosive exercises is essential for cardiovascular pathology prevention. The efficiency of short-term biofeedback training (BFB training) in such conditions in adolescents have not been studied earlier. Objective. Our aim was to study the effect of BFB training on cardiovascular rehabilitation after speed and power training in adolescents according to general heart rate variability (HRV) spectrum total power parameter. Methods. The research has included healthy eighth-grade students (14–15 years old boys) from regular school. Inclusion in experimental and control groups was regulated by researches. Such indicators as total power (TP) of HRV spectrum, tension index (TI), systolic and diastolic arterial blood pressure (ABP), heart rate (HR) were registered initially, after three standing long jumps with double take-off and after recovery. All members of experimental group performed BFB training in order to increase TP (3 min) during recovery period. Members of control group were resting. Results. Initially all members of experimental (n = 17) and control (n = 10) groups were compared on age, height, weight and TP, TI, ABP and HR indicators. The TP level in boys of experimental group was higher than in control group during recovery period after BFB training: 3.22 (1.96; 6.13) against 1.36 (1.15; 1.84) X 1000 ms2 respectively (р = 0.041). There were no differences in TI, ABP and HR levels between two groups during recovery period. Conclusion. Implementation of short-term BFB training according to general HRV spectrum total power parameter in 14–15 years old boys after speed and power training perpetuates vagal impact on heart rate during recovery period.

Background. In the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) environment, preterm newborns are subject to environmental stress and numerous painful interventions. It is known that hydrokinesiotherapy promotes comfort and reduces stress because of the physiological properties of water.Objective. To evaluate the short-term effects of hydrokinesiotherapy on reducing stress in preterm newborns admitted to the NICU.Materials and Methods. Fifteen preterm newborns underwent salivary cortisol measurement, pain evaluation using the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale (NIPS), and heart rate, respiratory rate, and peripheral oxygen saturation measurements before and after the application of hydrokinesiotherapy.Results. The mean gestational age of the newborns was34.2±1.66weeks, and the mean weight was1823.3±437.4 g. Immediately after application of hydrokinesiotherapy, a significant reduction was observed in salivary cortisol(p=0.004), heart rate(p=0.003), and respiratory rate(p=0.004)and a significant increase was observed in peripheral oxygen saturation(p=0.002). However, no significant difference was observed in the NIPS score(p>0.05).Conclusion. In the present study, neonatal hydrotherapy promoted short-term relief from feelings of stress. Neonatal hydrokinesiotherapy may be a therapeutic alternative. However, this therapy needs to be studied in randomized, crossover, and blinded trials. This trial is registered withNCT02707731.

The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of listening murattal Al Qur’an in increasing concentration capability. Subjects in this study were the girls students of Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, 18-20 years old, with GPA is above 3,00. The measurement of this study is using Digit Span test. The data were analyzed by using a statistical parametric T test. The mean score of concentration gained by the experimental group subjects before treatment was10,4, and after treatment was 11,2. While the mean score of the control group subjects before treatment was 11, and after treatment was 11,4. The result can be interpreted that there was mean differences between the experimental group and the control group before and after treatment. It means that listening murattal is effective in increasing the capability of concentration.

Abstract Background : Postpartum maternal health services are health services for postpartum mothers according to standards. Based on the results of the preliminary survey conducted at BPM Tias Susianah on average every month, the number of deliveries was 95 people and from the results of the prasurvey conducted on 25-27 February 2018 of 10 post partum mothers there were 7 post partum mothers who said mothers had not ever consumed pineapple juice both from pregnancy to the puerperium. The purpose of the study was to know the difference in the decline of Fundus Uteri height in postpartum mothers who performed Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) and IMD and given Pineapple Juice at Tias Susianah BPM North Lampung in 2018. Method: This type of quantitative research with Quasi Experimental design is nonequivalent control group Design. The study population of all primiparous postpartum mothers was 946 postpartum mothers who gave birth normally with an average of 78 postpartum mothers per month, with a sample of 34 purposive sampling techniques. Data is taken with an observation sheet. Univariate data analysis and bivariate t test (t-test). Result: The results of the study showed a decrease in TFU before and after being given intervention in the case group with a significance value of P = 0.000 (<0.05) and t = 44.1. There was a decrease in TFU before and after the intervention was given to the control group with a significance value of P = 0,000 (<0,05) and t = 57,176. There was a difference in the difference in TFU reduction between the experimental and control groups as seen from the average difference in TFU decline in the two groups. The mean TFU reduction in the experimental group was 7.78 cm and the mean TFU reduction in the control group was 6.95cm with a mean value of 0.83 significance P = 0.000 so it can be concluded that there were differences in TFU reduction in the experimental group and the control group. Conclusion: It is expected that Puskesmas can participate in providing counseling to post partum mothers to consume pineapple juice as an alternative to accelerate the healing or recovery process and minimize consumption ofpharmacological drugs
