There were two types of speech style which could be divided into formal and informal type. The informal one was well-known by the name of slang. Slang was non-standard language used in the everyday life created by a certain community and usually used by the teenagers in modern era. Slang was not only found in the daily conversation, but also could be found in literary works like song. Song was a literary work which could reflect the reality and express someone’s feelings. This study analyzes the slangs found in five lyrics of Eminem’s song by using descriptive qualitative method. Besides, this study focused on the word formation of the slangs itself. There are 60 data which has been collected from the lyrics.  From the analysis conducted, the types of word formation are found in the slangs used in the lyrics, such as blending, clipping, coinage, acronym and onomatopoeia. Mostly, the American slangs in the Eminem’s song lyrics are created by the process of blending and clipping.

Song is a series of words that are obtained from the inspiration of everyday life. a series of words arranged in such a way that they contain rhythm and meaning that will be conveyed to the listener. Songs are part of literary works. Listening to songs is a very fun activity. sometimes the listener just listens to it and doesn't understand the symbols and meanings in the song. sometimes the song consists of symbols to describe the feelings of the composer. Based on the reason, it brought the reseasrcher to find out the symbol and  application of Symbol in the song lyrics and To explain the meaning songs in Westlife’s Coast to Coast Album. This research applied a descriptive qualitative method. Through this method the researcher Tried to analyze, explain,and find out the symbols by using Charles Sanders Pierce’s theory. In this case, Charles Sanders Pierce developed a triadic model in illustrating the definition of the sign as a symbol. The triadic model consisted of three components; representamen, object and interpretant. In this research researcher taken the specific objects of the analysis were songs from Westlife the name of album was Coast to Coast. The song consist of seventeen songs, there were My love, What makes a man, I lay my love on you, When you’re looking like that, Close, Somebody needs you, Angel’s wing’s, Soledad, Puzzle of my heart, Dreams come true, No place that far, close your eyes, You make me feel, Loneliness knows me by name, Fragile heart, Every little thing you do, Uptown girl. The symbols found are empty heart, enthusiasm, spirit, motivation, loyalty, simplicity, strength, happiness, and sadness. Every lyrics written must have a message aimed at both listeners and readers. The message is directed with the intention of making them impress after listening to and reading the lyrics.

Artikel ini mendiskusikan kritik  sosial dalam novel “Anak-Anak Tukang” karya Baby Ahnan. Novel itu mengisahkan hiruk piruk kehidupan lingkungan sosial yang di dalamnya mengandung kritik sosial seperti soal pemerataan pembangunan pendidikan. Sementara pengertian kritik pada dasarnya merupakan wujud sambutan pembaca yang menghakimi serta menilai karya sastra guna memberi penilaian dan memberi keputusan baik dan buruk tidaknya suatu karya satra yang telah dibaca oleh kritikus. Metode yang digunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan fisik yang terjadi di daerah seperti Flores ternyata tidak menjamin terjadinya peningkatan kesejatraan masyarakat. Kemudian, pemanfaatan tenaga kerja lokal di sektor pembangunan menjadi tidak optimal karena pendidikan mereka rendah sebagai akibat pendidikan yang tidak merata.Katakunci: kritik, sosial, lingkungan, pendidikan Abstract:This article discusses social criticism in Baby Ahnan's novel “Anak-Anak Tukang”. The novel tells a story of the hustle and bustle of social life which contains social criticism, such as the issue of equality of education. Meanwhile, the definition of criticism is basically a form of response from readers who judge and judge literary works in order to give judgments and make decisions about whether or not a literary work has been read by critics. The method used was descriptive qualitative method and sociological literary approach. The results show that physical infrastructure development in areas such as Flores did not guarantee an improvement in the welfare of the community. Then, the utilization of local labor in the development sector is not optimal because their education is low as a result of unequal education.Keywords: criticism,  education, environmental, social

Abstrak: Karya sastra adalah sebuah ungkapan perasaan, ide, dan pemikiran dalam suatu gambaran konkret baik tertulis maupun tidak tertulis, salah satunya berupa sebuah lirik lagu. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan 3 album yaitu “My Way”, “Answer” dan “Negai E.P.” sebagai sumber data yang disinyalir sudah cukup mewakili karakteristik diksi dan gaya bahasa yang digunakan pada lirik lagu karya Touyama Mirei. Metode kualitatif deskriptif sebagai metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, pada album “Answer”, “My Way”, dan “Negai E.P” terdapat 16 macam gaya bahasa. Pada album “Answer” ditemukan 13 macam gaya bahasa, pada album “My Way” ditemukan 9 macam gaya bahasa, pada mini-album “Negai E.P” ditemukan 3 macam gaya bahasa. Gaya bahasa yang paling banyak ditemukan dalam 3 album tersebut adalah gaya bahasa Metafora dan Repetisi. Adapun diksi yang sering muncul dan digunakan bersifat denotatif. Simpulan yang dapat diambil adalah gaya bahasa berupa metafora dan repetisi,  dan penggunaan diksi bersifat denotatif atau bermakna sebenarnya merupakan ciri khas atau style dari penyanyi sekaligus pengarang lagu Touyama Mirei.Kata kunci: Stilistika, Lirik Lagu, Diksi, Gaya Bahasa, Makna Abstract: Literary work is an expression of feelings, ideas, and thoughts in a concrete picture both written and unwritten, one of which is a song lyrics. This research was conducted using 3 albums namely "My Way", "Answer" and "Negai E.P." as a source of data that was allegedly sufficient to represent the characteristics of diction and language style used in song lyrics by Touyama Mirei. Descriptive qualitative method as a research method in this study. Based on the results of the analysis that has been done, it is concluded that 16 kinds of language styles can be found in the album "Answer", "My Way", and "Negai E.P". In the album "Answer" found 13 kinds of language styles, on the album "My Way" found 9 kinds of language styles, on the mini-album "Negai E.P" found 3 kinds of language styles. The style of language most commonly found in these 3 albums is the style of Metaphor and Repetition. The diction that often appears and is used is denotative. The conclusion that can be drawn is the style of language in the form of metaphors and repetitions and the use of diction which is denotative or meaningful is actually a characteristic or style of the singer and songwriter Touyama Mirei. Literary works are imaginative works that use the language of literature. The language used is different from everyday life because the ambiguous nature and expression of this causes the language of literature tends to influence, make and eventually change the attitude of the reader. The problems to be discussed in this study are (1) describing and classifying lingual unit forms of cultural terms contained in kei song lyrics, (2) describing and classifying the meanings of cultural terms contained in Kei song lyrics. This research has benefits, namely theoretical and practical. The method used in this research has a qualitative method used because the data obtained in the form of sentences are not numbers. Data and data sources are derived from lyrics of kei songs, data collection techniques use listening techniques, note techniques, data analysis techniques using dressing techniques. and the value of the song evav. The mandate contained in the lyrics of evav songs in terms of overall, how to just be humble to parents and humble days to anyone and always remember themselves wherever and whenever.

Language is a means or tool of communication. People have used language as the most common way to communicate with each other. Language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which a social group cooperates. When people used language, they bound between one and another, called meaning. The meaning itself sometimes can be interpreted by other people easily, while some of them are not. Metaphorical meaning is the hidden meaning in some literary works, such as song, poem, poetry, and drama, that be able to give a new perspective to the readers or listeners. This research analyse the metaphorical meaning in some of BTS’s song, and its relation to the people who listen to their songs. The objective of this research is to analyze metaphorical entailment in BTS‘s song lyrics through a semantic perspective, and how the metaphorical meaning in BTS’s song in giving new hope to the listener. This research is a Qualitative, specifically descriptive qualitative method. There were two kinds of data in this research to support in analyzing process; the BTS’s song lyrics and interview session. The BTS’s song lyric was from the website, and an interview session was done by two correspondents that passed the criteria.

Novel is a literary work which is also known as fiction. Therefore, the notion of fiction also applies to the novel, which is a result of dialogue, contemplation, and the author's reaction to the environment and life. Each writer has a message that is implied in each of his works, one of which is as a distributor of da'wah messages. In this study, the researcher chose the novel Hati Suhita by Khilma Anis compared to the novel Dua Barista by Najhati Sharma. Because these two novels are the work of writers who were born in Islamic boarding schools. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that there are similarities and differences in the message of da'wah in the novel Hati Suhita by Khilma Anis and the novel Dua Barista by Najhati Sharma.

<p>This study examines the interpersonal meaning realized in the lyrics of Christina Perri’s Album “Lovestrong” and the contribution for teaching of a modern English grammar. It will be easier and more interesting to analyze the interpersonal meaning through the literary works that we hear everyday such as song lyrics.The objectives of this study are to describe the interpersonal meaning realized in the lyrics of Christina Perri’s Album “Love strong”, to know the most dominant Mood Types and Speech Roles, to describe the Modality realized in those lyrics and to describe the contribution of interpersonal meaning in the lyrics of Christina Perri’s Album “Love strong”. The design of the research was descriptive qualitative. The main sources of data in this research were the lyrics of Christina Perri’s Album “Love strong”. There were five song lyrics that the writers analyzed in this study. The analysis of the data used the following steps: those followings, listened to the songs, found the printed lyrics of the songs, analyzed the clauses based on the Mood-Residue elements and found the Modality through Modal Finite and Mood Adjunct. Next step, the writer classified the clause to get the most dominant of Mood Types and Speech Roles. The last, the writers drew the conclusion of this study.  The results of data analysis shows that the interpersonal meaning in the lyrics of Christina Perri’s Album “Love strong” realized in the wordings of the clause if analyzed based on the elements of interpersonal meaning, the most dominant Mood Types is Declarative, the most dominant Speech Roles is Giving Information, the Modality realized through the use of modal finite and mood adjunct, and the contribution  of interpersonal meaning in the lyrics of Christina Perri’s Album “Love strong” for teaching of a modern English grammar is to help the students easier and more interesting to analyze the interpersonal meaning through the lyrics of their favorite song or favorite singer. The conclusions of this study are; the realization of the interpersonal meaning in the song lyrics, we should read them thoroughly while analyzing based on the interpersonal meaning elements. Based on the Mood Types and Speech Roles analysis, the song writer or singer wants to declare something and give information to the readers or listener through these songs. <br /> <br />Keywords: interpersonal meaning, song lyrics, mood types, modality, modern English grammar</p>

The objective of this research was to find out the symbol and theme that was used by Robert Frost in his literary works. It was also to elaborate on his biographical aspect of using symbols and themes in his poem. The method used to make this paper was a qualitative method. The writer also used two approaches to analyze this paper; first, the intrinsic approach consists of the symbol and theme and second, the extrinsic approach is a biographical perspective. The data were collected through library research. The results of this research indicated that the symbol on “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” was related to his nature or everyday life, while the theme on “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” was about the journey. The last, Robert Frost wrote his poem based on his experience of life when he was a teenager.

Individuals use language as a means of communication everywhere and at all times. In today's world, figurative language is often encountered in everyday life, such as in song lyrics. Figurative language is a way of describing something without saying it directly. This research aims to investigate the figurative languages found in the lyrics of the song "Grenade" by analyzing their context and attempting to decipher their meaning. The data tool is song lyrics found on the internet, and the research approach is descriptive qualitative analysis. The results revealed that this album employs figurative language such as metaphor, hyperbole, and repetition. Furthermore, the most figurative words used in the lyrics is hyperbole. Generally, blending can be defined as combining two clipped words. Kvetko in Bednarova defines blending as a word formation process similar to shortening combined with merging two different words. There are many types of blending words both in Indonesian and English context. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze the comparison between Indonesian blend words and English blend words in terms of its types, its similarities and differences and also how its formed. In this paper the researcher use descriptive qualitative method as the method of the research. The source of the data is taken from some journal articles that relevant with blend words both in Indonesian and English context. The result showed that Indonesian blend words and English blend words not only have similarities in the forming word, but also have their differences that make them unique to each other. The writer hopes that the reader of this article gets more information about both Indonesian and English blend words based on its types and the similarities and the difference between them.
