This study was conducted to determine factors that affect the nutritional status of children under 5 years of age in Padang City West Sumatra based on weight-for-height using Classification and Regression Tree (CART). The study was carried out in 4 districts in Padang City.  A Total of  311 under 5 years of age children was  examined.  Children nutritional status are assess using weight-for-height Z score complied with WHO standard for children growth.  Factors those were hypothesized to influence children nutritional status were gender, age, family income, maternal education level, number of children and score of  maternal knowledge about nutrition.  Data were analyzed using tree classification methods namely CART method. It was found that there were 3 variables that affect children nutritional status i.e age, family income and maternal knowledge about nutrition.

ABSTRACT Background: Complementary feeding practice is needed to be optimized to maximize children’s potential for growth and development. However, there are still many obstacles in provide complementary feeding practice. This study aimed to examine the determinants of complementary feeding practice. Subjects and Method: A cross sectional study was conducted in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from October to November 2019. A sample of 200 mothers who had infants aged 6-24 months was selected by probability sampling. The dependent variable was complementary feeding practice. The independent variables were birthweight, child nutritional status, maternal knowledge toward complementary feeding, maternal education, and family income. The data were collected by infant weight scale, infantometer, and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by a multiple logistic regression run on Stata 13. Results: Complementary feeding practice increased with birthweight ≥2500 g (b= 2.67; 95% CI=0.59 to.89; p= 0.008), child nutritional status (WHZ) -2.0 to 2.0 SD (b= 2.72; 95% CI=o.75 to 4.61; p= 0.006), high maternal knowledge toward complementary feeding (b= 2.27; 95% CI= 0.27 to 3.79; p= 0.023), maternal education ≥Senior high school (b= 2.19; 95% CI= 0.23 to 4.25; p= 0.028), and family income ≥Rp 1,571,000 (b= 2.42; 95% CI= 0.39 to 3.77; p= 0.015). Conclusion: Complementary feeding practice increases with birthweight ≥2500 g, good child nutritional status, high maternal knowledge toward complementary feeding, high maternal education, and high family income. Background: Despite numerous interventions, the preva- lence of severe malnutrition in under fives in the District of Lombok Timur during the last 5 years did not changed much and tended to increase.Objective: To assess risk factors for severe malnutrition, considered from points of view of family characteristics, children rearing practice and performance of posyandu, in 12 to 23 month-infants in the district.Methods: This was a case-control study. Cases were 65 severely malnourished children, while controls were a same number of children matched for age.Results:  In bivariate analyses, variables identified as risk factors of severe malnutrition are low family income, OR(95%CI) of 5.0 (1.9-13.5), p=0.001; low maternal education, OR(95%CI) of 2.3 (1.1-4.9), p=0.02; low maternal knowledge on growth monitoring, OR(95%CI) of 15.6 (4.4-55.1), p<0.001; not cared by mother, OR(95%CI) of 7.8 (1.7-36.5), p=0.003; low birth weight, OR(95%CI) of 5.7 (1.2-27.3), p=0.02; short duration of exclusive breastfeeding, OR(95%CI) of 2.6 (1.3-5.2), p=0.008; incomplete immunization, OR(95%CI) of 10.3 (2.3-46.9), p<0.001; and the children’s feeding practice, OR(95%CI) of 3.3 (1.5-7.4), p=0.004. In multiple logistic regression, only maternal knowledge on growth monitoring was significantly associated with the risk of severe malnutrition.Conclusion: Family characteristic and children rearing practice were important risk factors of severe malnutrition in Lombok Timur District. Performance of posyandu is not associated with occurrence of severe malnutrition.

AbstrakBalita merupakan kelompok usia yang memerlukan asupan gizi yang cukup baik karena pada masa ini terjadi proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang sangat pesat. Kekurangan gizi pada masa ini akan menyebabkan kegagalan pertumbuhan fisik dan perkembangan kecerdasan. Beberapa faktor yang terkait dengan status gizi balita yaitu kondisi sosial ekonomi, pendidikan ibu, jumlah anak dan pengetahuan ibu. Adapun prevalensi gizi kurang di wilayah kerja Puseksmas Nelayan lebih tinggi dari rata-rata prevalensi gizi kurang di Kota Cirebon yaitu sebesar 10,9%. Tujuan penelitian yaitu menganalisis faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi balita usia 12-24 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi adalah balita usia 12-24 bulan. Sampel berjumlah 93 orang diambil dengan teknik  proportional random sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar kuesioner. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis univariabel, bivariabel dan multivariabel. Hasil analisis dengan chi square didapatkan variabel yang hubungan dengan status gizi balita yaitu pengetahuan ibu (p=0,003; OR=3,68) pendapatan keluarga (p=0,003; OR=3,702). Faktor yang paling berpengaruh terhadap status gizi balita yaitu keaktifan posyandu. Pengetahuan ibu yang kurang tentang gizi balita, pendapatan keluarga yang rendah dan keaktifan posyandu yang tidak aktif merupakan faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi balita usia 12-24 bulan. Ibu agar tetap aktif mebawa balita ke posyandu dan meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang gizi balita. Kata kunci: pengetahuan, pendapatan keluarga,  keaktifan posyandu, status gizi, balita AbstractToddlers are the age group that needs a good enough nutritional intake because there is a process of growth and development very rapidly. Malnutrition will lead to failure of physical growth and development of intelligence. Several factors related to the nutritional status of toddlers are socio-economic conditions, maternal education, number of children and mother's knowledge. The prevalence of less nutrition in the working area of Nelayan Public Health Centers is higher than the average prevalence of malnutrition in Cirebon City. The purpose of this research to analyze  factors that influence the nutritional status of toddlers. This research uses analytic design with cross sectional approach. The population is children aged 12-24 months. A sample of 93 people was taken with proportional random sampling technique. The research instrument is a questionnaire. Data were analized by univariable, bivariable and multivariable. The result showed that the correlation between nutrition status of toddler was maternal knowledge (p = 0,003; OR = 3,68), family income (p = 0,003; OR = 3,702). The most influential factor on the nutritional status of toddlers is the activeness of posyandu.  Mother to remain active to bring toddlers to posyandu and improve knowledge about child nutrition. Keywords: knowledge, family income, activeness of posyandu, nutritional status, toddler

Masalah gizi di Indonesia, sebagai mana halnya dengan negara-negara berkembang lainnya pada anak sangat dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor yaitu asupan makanan dan penyakit infeksi. Faktor konsumsi makanan merupakan penyebab langsung dari kejadian gizi buruk pada balita.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan asupan gizi, pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi, penyakit infeksi, dan pendapatan keluarga dengan status gizi anak usia 24 – 59 bulan di Puskesmas Wangi-Wangi Selatan Kabupaten Wakatobi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Puskesmas Wangi-Wangi Selatan Kabupaten Wakatobi dengan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analitik pada 72 responden yang memenuhi kriteria yang dilaksanakan melalui wawancara dengan menggunakan kuesioner sebagai acuan pertanyaan. Hasil penelitian menujukan bahwa ada hubungan antara asupan gizi, penyakit infeksi, pengetahuan ibu dan pendapatan keluarga dengan status gizi anak usia 24 – 59 bulan di Puskesmas Wangi-Wangi Selatan Kabupaten Wakatobi dengan nilai p = 0,000. Disarankan kepada petugas Puskesmas agar perlu dilakukan upaya perbaikan gizi pada anak balita, melalui penyuluhan mengenai pentingnya asupan zat gizi kepada anak balita, dan memberitahukan kepada ibu pentingnya rutin ke puskesmas.Kata-kata kunci: Status gizi, asupan gizi, pengetahuan ibu, penyakit infeksi, pendapatan keluargaABSTRACTNutritional problems in Indonesia, as well as other developing countries in children are strongly influenced by two factors, namely food supply and infectious diseases. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship of nutritional supplay, knowledge of mothers about nutrition, infectious diseases, and family income with the nutritional status of children aged 24 – 59 months at the South Wangi-Wangi health center District of Wakatobi. This research was conducted in South Wangi-Wangi health center in Wakatobi District with quantitative research method with analytical approach in 72 respondents who meet the criteria implemented through interviews using questionnaires as Reference questions. The results showed that there was a relationship between nutritional intake, infectious diseases, mother knowledge and family income with nutritional status of children aged 24 – 59 months at the South Wangi-Wangi Health center of Wakatobi regency with a value P = 0.000. Background: Chepang Community in Nepal has often been characterized as the poorest among Nepal’s poor, and has faced food insecurity at a household level each year. Health status of their children is poor compared to other community children and more so for the age group under the age of five years. Objective: To find the proportion of stunting, wasting and underweight, and to assess the most promising factors associated with the nutritional status of children under five years of Chepang community in Siddi, Chitwan, Nepal. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional research design was used with 170 samples. To find the association of different factors with the nutritional status of children under 5 years of age (stunting, wasting and underweight, each) binary multiple logistic regression model was used and the goodness of fit of the model was assessed through Hosmer and Lemeshow test. Results: The overall proportion of children under five years of the Chepang community is 60.6%, 30.6% and 44.7% for underweight, stunting and wasting respectively. Among many factors, the mother’s illiteracy (OR: 5.30, 95 % CI: 1.37 to 21.57), external monthly family income (≤ NRs. 2000) (OR: 9.65, 95 % CI: 3.23 to 30.78) and food availability for six months from own land (OR: 4.17, 95 % CI: 1.90 to 17.98) have a significant association with underweight. Similarly, for stunting, female child (OR: 2.19, 95 % CI: 1.02 to 4.70), number of children (more than one) below 14 years at home (OR: 4.15, 95 % CI : 1.77 to 11.04) and external family income (≤ NRs. 2000) (OR: 4.42, 95% CI: 1.01 to 17.06) are significantly associated, and for wasting, a number of children (more than one) below 14 years at home (OR: 4.64, 95 % of CI: 1.71 to 12.60) and external family income (≤ NRs. 2000) (OR: 5.17, 95 % CI: 2.27 to 11.79) are significantly associated. Conclusion: Substantial numbers of children from Chepang community are having the problem of underweight, stunting and wasting. Different demographic and socio-economic variables have been found associated for odds of having low level of nutritional status of children.

Undernutrition in urban areas remains a serious public health problem in Indonesia. The study aimed to find out what factors were related to the nutritional status of children under five in the working area of the Limo Community Health Center, Limo District. Depok City, Indonesia in 2019. This research was conducted in June-July 2019 using a cross-sectional study design with a sample of 118 mothers who have toddlers aged 6-59 months in the Limo Health Center work area in 2019. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. The analysis was performed using chi-square (α = 0.05). Undernutrition is defined as the condition of children under five which is determined based on the anthropometric index measurement results of body weight for age with a Z- score of -2 SD to ≤ -3 SD, while good nutrition is at a Z-score of -2 SD to 2 SD. As a result, the prevalence of undernutrition was 16.1%. As much as 50% of the respondents had high school education and mothers with low education were 32.2%. The results showed a prevalence of working mothers (13.6%), family income < Rp. 4,600,000 (52.5%), mothers with low knowledge (25.4%), male children (53.4%), poor parenting (3.4%), and mothers who did not use health services properly (3.4%). There was a significant relationship between maternal education (p = 0.004; OR: 4,813; 95% CI: 1,711-13,537), family income (p = 0.006; OR: 6.145; 95% CI: 1.68-22.43), and maternal knowledge (p = 0.007; OR: 4.389; 95% CI: 1.57-12.23) with the nutritional status of children under five in the working area of the Limo Community Health Center. The suggestion is that the Limo Community Health Center make a program to increase the knowledge capacity of mothers regarding the nutrition of their children.

ABSTRACT Background: The Family Hope Program through the Family Development Session (FDS) provides social services on maternal and child health. Social cognitive theory (SCT) may explain how family development session family hope program affects to the integrated health post (posyandu) visit) and child nutrional status. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the FDS Family Hope Program on the child nutritional status. Subjects and Method: This was an analytic observational study with cohort retrospective design. The study was conducted at the integrated health posts, in January 2020. The dependent variable was child nutritional status. The independent variables were family development session, maternal education, family income, social support, maternal knowledge, self-efficacy, complementary feeding, and integrated health post visit. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple linier regression. Results: Child nutritional status was positively associated with FDS participation (b= 1.12; 95% CI= 1.31 to 7.15; p= 0.010), high maternal education (b= 0.92; 95% CI= 1.09 to 5.83; p= 0.031), high family income (b= 0.96; 95% CI= 1.14 to 6.00; p= 0.023), strong social support (b= 1.24; 95% CI= 1.34 to 7.85; p= 0.009), high maternal knowledge (b= 1.24; 95% CI= 1.50 to 7.96; p= 0.004), high self efficacy (b= 0.92; 95% CI= 1.09 to 5.76; p= 0.030), appropriate complementary feeding (b= 0.96; 95% CI= 1.15 to 6.02; p= 0.023), and active integrated health post visit (b= 1.03; 95% CI= 1.15 to 6.90; p= 0.024). Conclusion: Child nutritional status is positively associated with FDS participation, high maternal education, high family income, strong social support, high maternal knowledge, high self efficacy, appropriate complementary feeding, and integrated health post visit. AbstrakStatus gizi anak balita salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh faktor kondisi sosial ekonomi, antara lain pendidikan ibu, pekerjaan ibu, jumlah anak, pengetahuan dan pola asuh ibu serta kondisi ekonomi orang tua secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan kondisi sosial ekonomi keluarga terhadap status gizi anak balita. Penelitian ini adalah survei analitik menggunakan desain cross sectional study dengan jumlah sampel 227 orang yang terdiri dari anak balita dan ibu balita di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Nanggalo Padang. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang telah diisi oleh ibu balita yang kemudian di analisis secara bivariat dan multivariat. Berdasarkan analisis bivariat didapatkan pendidikan ibu (p=0,022), pekerjaan ibu (p=0,000), pendapatan keluarga (p=0,012), jumlah anak (p=0,008) dan pola asuh ibu (p=0,000). Sementara dari analisis multivariat didapatkan pendidikan ibu (p=0,004; OR=2,594; CI95%=1,356-4,963), pekerjaan ibu (p=0,000; OR=74,769; CI95%=24,141-231,577), pendapatan keluarga (p=0,013; OR=3,058; CI95%=1,246-7,4) dan pola asuh ibu (p=0,000; OR=15,862; CI95%=5,973-42,128). Analisis bivariat menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara pendidikan ibu, pekerjaan ibu, pendapatan keluarga, jumlah anak dan pola asuh ibu dengan status gizi anak balita. While the multivariate analysis obtained from the maternal education (p = 0.004; OR = 2.594; CI95% = 1.356 to 4.963), maternal occupation (p = 0.000; OR = 74.769; CI95% = 24.141 to 231.577), household income (p = 0.013; OR = 3.058; CI95% = 1.246 to 7.4) and maternal parenting (p = 0.000; OR = 15.862; CI95% = 5.973 to 42.128).Bivariate analysis showed that there is a relationship between maternal education, maternal occupation, family income, number of children and parenting mothers with a nutritional status of children under five. ABSTRACT Background: Previous study reported that numerous nutritional-related interventions have been shown to improve health aspect for young children. However, social and economic factors also played an indirect role to their nutritional and health fulfillment. The purpose of this study was to examine biological and social-economic determinants of child development using path analysis model. Subjects and Method: This was an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. The study was carried out at early childhood education programs (PAUD) in Wonokromo Sub-district, Surabaya, East Java. A sample of 200 children aged 2-5 years old from 25 PAUD was selected by simple random sampling. The dependent variable was child development. The independent variables were nutritional status, exclusive breastfeeding, number of children, family income, maternal education, and maternal employment status. The data were analyzed by path analysis. Results: Child developmental disorder directly increased with poor nutritional status (b= 0.95; 95% CI= 0.03 to 1.86; p= 0.041), low family income (b= 2.01; 95% CI= 1.13 to 2.90; p < 0.001), mothers working outside the home (b= 0.85; 95% CI= 0.07 to 1.63; p= 0.032), exclusive breastfeeding (b= 2.05; 95% CI= 1.23 to 2.86; p<0.001), and number of children ≥2 (b= 1.21; 95% CI= 0.20 to 2.23; p= 0.019). Child developmental disorders indirectly increased with maternal education. Conclusion: Child developmental disorder directly increases with poor nutritional status, low family income, mothers working outside the home, exclusive breastfeeding, and number of children ≥2. Background: Nutrition problems in Indonesia are a major problem in human development because nutritional status reflects the quality of the nation itself. Monitoring of Nutritional Status in 2015 showed that toddlers according to the weight index per age obtained 79.7% good nutrition; 14.9% malnutrition and 3.8% malnutrition and 1.5% over nutrition. The data shows that the presence of children under five has a status of poor or poor nutrition. Kalijambe Subdistrict, Sragen Regency in 2012 there were still under-fives with one status of malnutrition with 29 toddlers (30%) out of a total of 3,452 toddlers. Method: Type of study was analytic descriptive with approach Cross-Sectional. The population was all mothers of children under five, the sampling technique with probability sampling is the number of respondents 50 mothers of children under five. Data analysis using chi-square. Results: There was a significant relationship between the education of mothers of children under five with the nutritional status of children (p = 0.0001 <0.05). There was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge of children under five and the nutritional status of children under five (p = 0.035 <0.05). Conclusion: There was no relationship between the number of children under five with the nutritional status of children (p = 0.49) and there was no relationship between the number of families with the nutritional status of children (p = 0.85). So that the factors that affect toddler nutrition in Jetiskarangpung Village, Sragen is education and mother's knowledge.
