The article reveals the concept of the monitoring the quality of future engineer-pedagogues’ educational activities and outlines the approaches to its determination in the current studies on the basis of psychological and pedagogical literature analysis. The purpose of the article is to determine the essential characteristics of the concept of monitoring the quality of future engineer-pedagogues educational activities, its capabilities and areas of implementation in the process of their professional training. The research methods are analysis of psychological and pedagogical sources and results of scientific research, questionnaire, testing of academic success, observation, analysis of reporting documentation and statistical data of educational institutions. The results. The benefit of the study is that the notion of monitoring within the system of training the experts of engineering and pedagogical specialities has been defined as the process of continuous, scientifically justified, diagnostic and prognostic, targeted and activity-based supervision over the state and didactic process development of students in order to select optimal professionally-oriented tasks, means, and methods how the assignments are carried out. The authors analyze the principal stages of monitoring the quality of future engineer-pedagogues’ educational activities within the system of higher education by means of formation of students’ general and special (professional) competencies during acquiring a number of educational components oriented towards their further professional activities. The authors describe the key role of monitoring the quality of future engineer-pedagogues’ educational activities as an instrument used to obtain integral vision about the quality of training of students of engineering and pedagogical specialities and the necessity to perform such procedure systematically. The article presents the results of survey questionnaire designed for teachers and students about the types of control (input (preliminary), current, progress, and final) while monitoring the quality of future engineer-pedagogues’ educational activities. This note first summarizes the history of the manuscript “On a Continuum Model for Avalanche Flow and Its Simplified Variants” by Grigorian and Ostroumov—published in this Special Issue—since the early 1990s and explains the guiding principles in editing it for publication. The changes are then detailed and some explanatory notes given for the benefit of readers who are not familiar with the early Russian work on snow avalanche dynamics. Finally, the editor’s personal views as to why he still considers this paper of relevance for avalanche dynamics research today are presented in brief essays on key aspects of the paper, namely the role of simple and complex models in avalanche research and mitigation work, the status and possible applications of Grigorian’s stress-limited friction law, and non-monotonicity of the dynamics of the Grigorian–Ostroumov model in the friction coefficient. A comparison of the erosion model proposed by those authors with two other models suggests to enhance it with an additional equation for the balance of tangential momentum across the shock front. A preliminary analysis indicates that continuous scouring entrainment is possible only in a restricted parameter range and that there is a second erosion regime with delayed entrainment.

Research has made great strides in understanding how and why organizational actors use the past. So far, scholars have largely focused the level of analysis on the organization, without exploring the intertwined nature of historical claim-making with the organizational field or society at large. This article extends the status quo by conceptualizing the role of context for organizational uses-of-the-past. It identifies three key aspects of context that shape how history contributes to the social construction of reality: the existence of multiple audiences, the landscape of pre-existing historical narratives and the experience of social practices giving credibility to historical claims. By analysing the historical case of German business in colonial India, the paper makes three broader claims that could move research toward a more contextualized conception of the uses-of-the-past: (i) historical claims are validated in a continuous dialogue with multiple audiences; (ii) they revise previously existing narratives by critiquing or ‘outpasting’, i.e. invoking earlier origins; (iii) they often result in ‘rhetorical frictions’ that require continuous and skilful history revisions to mitigate emerging conflicts in their reception. By contextualizing the uses-of-the-past in this way, the paper moves beyond ‘hypermuscular’ organizational actors bending history to their will and foregrounds the situated nature of historical rhetoric.

The paper deals with the results of the International Scientific and Practical Conference INTERLINGUA-2021, held on May 18-19, 2021 at Lipetsk State Technical University. Within the framework of the conference, the issues of the professional training of highly qualified specialists in the information-digital space were discussed. The conference participants focused their attention on the important role of professional communication as a component of communicative competence. It was noted that professional communication plays a pivotal role in the educational system of the university, since a specialist who does not have the skills to conduct a constructive dialogue, does not know how to establish contact with the interlocutor, to study his/her point of view, does not grow professionally, is not accepted by the society, and therefore becomes uncompetitive. The reports of the conference participants were distinguished by the undoubted depth of theoretical analysis and high practical relevance of the problems under consideration. As a result of the conference, round tables were held, at which the most significant aspects of professional communication, its reflection in the linguistic consciousness were discussed. The participants and guests of the conference, noting its usefulness, recognized the need to make it an annual event.
