These preference could be predicted by exploring the enterpreneur’s characteristics. One of the quantitative method called CHAID (Chi-Squared Automatic Interaction Detection Analysis) has been used in this research to provide that prediction. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in economic development. It is reasonable if the empowerment of MSMEs gets special attention by the government, including MSMEs in tourism villages. The tourist village of Loram Kulon MSME which is one of the objects of this research is growing and diverse in both number and type. The diversity of MSMEs has resulted in village governments having difficulties in implementing MSME development programs that are in harmony with the characteristics of tourism villages. This study aims to formulate a business development strategy model for MSMEs in resource-based and local wisdom-based tourism villages. Except in the village of Loram Kulon, research has been carried out with the object of the Jambearum tourism village in Kendal Regency. The study used 7-10 samples of MSMEs taken randomly. Respondents are owners / managers of MSMEs. Data was collected through interviews with the help of questionnaires. Processed using descriptive statistics and analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. From these two studies can be formulated a model of village tourism MSME development. The results show that the development model based on the SWOT analysis is the right model for formulating the tourism village MSME development strategy. This is because the SWOT analysis considers the internal and external conditions of MSMEs and provides four alternative strategies namely SO, ST, WO, WT which can be selected according to the general objectives of MSMEs in the tourism village

Purpose This paper aims to enhance the understanding of tax non-compliance behaviour of owner-managers of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Yemen. Drawing on the behavioural perspective and not on the Sharia per se, this study investigated the perspectives of Muslims towards government’s right to impose tax, summarised in three categories: forbidden, permissible and permissible under certain conditions. Design/methodology/approach This study was conducted using a self-administered survey to collect the required data from a sample of 500 SMEs in Yemen. Non-compliance is measured in terms of a single hypothetical tax scenario covering four types of tax situations. Yet, Muslims’ perspective towards the government’s right to impose tax was measured using the three perspectives stated above. Findings As the major finding, Muslims’ perspective towards taxation has a significant influence on their likely tax compliance behaviour. Specifically, the taxpayers who believed that tax is totally permissible (i.e. the government has the right to impose tax) were more compliant than those who believed that tax is totally forbidden. Furthermore, taxpayers’ non-compliance decisions are statistically related to tax rate and penalties. Practical implications The findings could serve as a useful input for taxation policy and strategy in Yemen. It is recommended that government should stress the importance of paying tax as a citizen’s obligation and also emphasise the religious legality of taxation, as it is used for public purposes. Originality/value This study differs from the existing literature in that its empirical investigation scrutinises the effect of citizens’ perspectives towards taxation on their non-compliance behaviour within the Islamic religion itself, particularly, in a typical Muslim community such as Yemen. The study is pioneer in adopting the views of different scholars on the government’s right to collect taxes based on three religious views (forbidden, permissible and permissible under certain conditions), which were used for measurement.

Nowadays economic independence is one indicator in measuring the welfare of a country. Economic independence is made from the current country's economic system. An economic system is a systematic way in which a country distributes its resources. The better the system is implemented, the better the economic growth rate of the country will be. One things that mostly affect the rate of economic growth is the increasing number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, the government has designed the program for SMEs which is not supported by Good Corporate Governance (GCG), which results in lack of integrations between the government program and the SME management system. The purpose of this study is to investigate aspects of the management arrangements of 150 SMEs in Padang, and also to identified all aspects which is need to be modified so that the Good Corporate Governance (GCG) system can be implemented on these SMEs. The survey results in this study found that the implementation of Good Corporate Governance in Padang City SMEs is still very limited, so this research still needs to be explored further to find the right Good Corporate Governance (GCG) patterns implemented for Padang’s SMEs.

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has made a great leap in enhancing Indonesias Small Medium Enterprises (SME)s and the countrys overall creative industries by establishing a new non ministerial institution called Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (BEKRAF) or the Creative Economy Agency. The BEKRAF, established under the Presidential Regulation Number 6 of 2015 issued on January 20, 2015, is responsible for accelerating the development of creative economy in Indonesia. Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been playing crucial roles for generating economic progresses as well as social inclusion in Indonesia. Among the most important and worthy of priority is the countrys creative economy. The existence of BEKRAF will enhance close cooperation between the government, SMEs players and related economic stakeholders. This paper aims to assess the concept of Creative Industries, as a boundary concept that allows for increased co-operation between players and the generally opposing knowledge conceptsas reflected in their respective knowledge and cultural politics. Indonesia has great potential in terms of economic growth. In 2015, Indonesias Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rocketed to 4.79 percent, far above the previous expectation of only 2.4 percent. This encouraging climate is indeed the right moment for the government to strengthen the countrys economic foundation particularly in the real economic sector. Hence, BEKRAF has a vision to build Indonesia as one of the worlds great economic powers in the field of creative economy by 2030. This issue will be discussed comprehensively in the final part of the paper.
