This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of a counseling supervisory program based on the discrimination model in improving crisis counseling skills for family reform counselors in Jordan. The sample of the study consisted of 30 female and male counselors, who were randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group (15) male and female counselors received the supervisory program according to the discrimination model with 90-minute 18 weekly sessions over 9 weeks, whereas  the control group (15) female and male counselors did not receive the supervisory program. The  Family Crisis Skills  Scale which  consists  of 59 items was divided into three subscales: Family Crisis Counseling, Counseling Relation Skills, and Procedures of Intervention & Response to Crisis. It  was  used with the total sample in the pre-post-test, and in the follow-up test only with experimental group. The results of the study showed that there are statistically significant differences in the overall mean scores of  the  posttest and all sub-scales of the Family Crisis Skills Scale between the two study group, in favor of the experimental group. Also, the results showed that although the differences between the two groups  in the overall mean scores of the post-follow-up test and all sub-scales of the Family Crisis Skills Scale were not statistically significant, there was a positive gain of improvement for the experimental group. These findings suggest that the counselors in the experimental group retained the impact of the program, and provided  evidence that the impact of the program was efficient and sustainable.

This study aimed to investigate the efficiency of teaching students on distance learning platforms and its impact on academic achievement. Specifically, it tried to answer the following question: “How to evaluate the impact of doing student’s homework using the distance e-learning process in the computer science course, and access its efficiency in developing academic achievement?” The study was conducted by using experimental methodology. The study samples consisted of 30 students from the ninth grade, at King Abdullah-II School for Excellence in Ajloun, Jordan. The first half of the samples represents the experimental-group that studied using specific teaching strategies and the homework method used the Internet platform for implementation and follow-up. The second half represents the control-group who studied with the same strategies, but used the traditional homework method within the classroom environment and follow-up traditionally. The efficiency evaluation for teaching the two groups was by preparing an achievement test consisted of 25 multiple-choice items. The study showed the following results: The experimental-group students who studied using homework via the internet platform outperformed the control-group students who studied using traditional homework, with a constant factor of 0.97. In light of the result, the researcher recommended a number recommendations: the necessity of using homework via Internet platform, considering individual differences in achievement by distributing duties in terms of ease and difficulty, using a reasonable duties amount so it doesn’t burden students, coordination between teachers of other subjects when assigning students’ homework, and finally recommendations to study other variables such as parents' academic level and teachers strategies of preparing homework.

The present study investigated the impact of simple pair-association mechanisms for the acquisition of absolute pitch. At intervals of two weeks, participants (N = 20 adult nonmusicians) completed three tone identification tests (pre, post, and follow-up test). Participants of the experimental group (n = 10) underwent a ten-day adaptive training between the first and the second test in which they learned to associate pitches with the corresponding name. The results of the posttest revealed a positive effect of training in the experimental group compared to the control group as indicated by a higher proportion of correct responses as well as a smaller deviation measured in semitones in the tone identification task. The effect of training remained stable over the period without any further training (follow-up test). The results of this training study suggest that simple pair-association mechanisms are a key aspect in the development of absolute pitch.

IntroductionThe bipolar disorder (BD) has an important effect over the lives of patients and families. The attitude of the family is a modifiable factor through specific interventions and it has been related with BD prognosis.ObjectivesStudy a sample of families and patients with BD.AimsCompare between two groups its course of burden of caring for family members with BD. Also, we will see the course of the functionality in patients.MethodsSample of 148 individuals who caring a familiar with BD. Seventy-six of these followed psychoeducation session are going to be experimental group (EG), and the others 72 did not followed any session are going to be control group (CG). There is a follow-up at 6 months and one year. To see the course of the burden and the functionality it will be used mixed models.ResultsAt baseline, there were not significant differences between CG and EG in objective and subjective burden and functionality. But over time there were significant results in the three cases. For objective burden (b = −0.016; P = 0.0001) EG presented a drop (b = −0.014; P = 0.0062), while CG did not show changes (b = 0.002; P = 0.4691). For subjective burden (b = −0.014; P = 0.0058) without significant results for CG (b = −0.352; P = 0.3203) and a significant decrease in EG (b = −0.017; P = 0.003). For the functionality (b = 1.474; P = 0.000) there was a significant increase in EG (b = 1.349; P = 0.000) but not for CG (b = −0.125; P = 0.3828).ConclusionsTwo groups did not differ at baseline however after the psychoeducation sessions appear clear differences, decreasing the burden for EG group and the functionality also improved for EG.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Introduction. One of the widespread and massively practiced martial arts is a Kendo — a system of fencing with a Japanese sword. Herewith the training process imposes very high requirements on athletes practicing martial arts. Large physical and psychological loads often lead to overstrain of various organism systems. This worsens the functional state of the organism and causes various injuries. But very often athletes in this situation continue training and take part in competitions. As a result a further deterioration of the condition and delayed recovery of the functional state of the organism takes place, and it negatively affects sports results. In Russia, this type of martial arts is massively engaged in the first generation of athletes, so today there are no methods of treatment, recovery and medical support specially developed for this sport. Osteopathy can be a promising method of drug-free recovery and maintenance that does not require the use of complex equipment, and this method has already proved itself well in some other sports. The goal of research — to identify the somatic dysfunctions that are typical for kendoists and can affect their sports results, and to study the impact of osteopathic correction on the osteopathic status and the kendoists organism′ functional state, which determine the athletes performance.Materials and methods. 30 athletes practicing Kendo were selected to participate in the study. A simple randomization method was used to form an experimental group (15 people) who had osteopathic correction of somatic dysfunction (SD), and a control group (15 people) in which there were no any manipulations. At the beginning of the study both groups underwent osteopathic examination and assessment of the organism functional state by the Harvard step test and a breath-holding test (Genchi test). Osteopathic correction of SD in the experimental group was performed once a month for 9 months. Then the osteopathic examination and functional assessment were repeated in both groups. The obtained results were compared both within the respective groups (using the Wilcoxon test) and between groups (using the Mann–Whitney test).Results. The following regional biomechanical disorders were detected as typical for the selected Kendo athletes at the study beginning: lower extremities (structural component), thoracic region (structural and visceral component), and lumbar region (structural and visceral component). Such characteristic local somatic dysfunctions as dysfunctions of the ankle and subtalar joints were also identified. The use of SD osteopathic correction in athletes of the experimental group led to a statistically significant decrease in the SD total number (p≤0,05) compared with the control group in which osteopathic correction was not performed. The experimental group athletes had a significant decrease of the SD total number (p≤0,01) and the local somatic dysfunctions average number (p≤0,01). Functional test scores improved in both groups at the end of the study. However the functional tests indicators of the experimental group, in comparison with the control group, statistically significantly (p≤0,05) improved to a greater extent.Conclusion. The obtained data demonstrate the osteopathic correction positive effect on the practicing kendo athletes′ organism in the form of the somatic dysfunctions′ number decrease and the functional state improvement.

Introduction:Psychological impact of Therapeutic Patient Education (TPE) for dialysis patients is rarely evaluated since the focus of many studies is on medical variables (i.e., adherence). Objectives:The aims of this study were: 1) to estimate the impact of a TPE program on knowledge, depression and anxiety, 2) to examine change in knowledge as a mediator of the effects of a TPE program on mental health.Method:This study was conducted in three hemodialysis units and comprised two groups: an experimental group with education and a control group with routine care. The program was based of 5 educative sessions. Knowledge, depressive and anxious symptoms were assessed with self-reported outcomes measured before and 3 months after the program. Results:The sample comprised 125 patients. Knowledge about vascular access and nutrition (p < 0.01) and depressive symptoms increased in the experimental group (p < 0.01). Analysis of mediation showed that changes in knowledge about vascular access were a significant mediator of the effects of the program on depressive symptoms (F = 4.90;p = 0.01).Discussion:Knowledge acquired during an educational program could lead to an emotional change. Improving knowledge often leads to an awareness of the risks that can modify the psychological state of patients by reminding them of their vulnerability. This study shows that it is required to be attentive to the way of transmitting knowledge. It’s necessary adapting this transmission to the needs of patients and promoting the acquisition of psychosocial competence too. Conclusion:This study shows that knowledge acquired during an educational program can lead to an emotional change in the short term. A long-term follow-up of the population should be interesting to observe these emotional effects.

Summary. The disbalanced feeding and the uneven distribution of micro- and macroelements in the environment leads to a trace element, in particular hypomelanosis. To accelerate the growth and preservation of young farm animals include in the diet of various biological additives and drugs, which include selenium. For stimulation of weight gain in the livestock industry, as well as for the prevention and treatment of pathological processes in addition to micro - and macrouse amino acids, primarily methionine. The aim of this work was to study the influence of composition of DAFS-25+Polizon on morpho-biochemical parameters of blood and functional state of the liver in fattening bulls of black-motley breed in the conditions of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Experiments using were conducted on bull-calves of black-motley breed of the properties in the properties age from 6 to 15 months. The first experimental group during the experiment was additionally given the composition of DAFS-25+Polizon at a dose of 2 mg/kg, the animals of the control group received a standard diet. To assess the impact of the composition DAFS-25+Polizon on metabolism cattle studied morphological and biochemical indicators of blood and conducted histological examination of the liver. It is established that the use of the composition of DAFS-25+Polizon at a dose of 2 mg/kg increases the number of erythrocytes and hemoglobin in the experimental group and reduces the amount of white blood cells. The serum content of total protein, phosphorus and calcium increases in the group of experimental animals. Microscopic examination of the liver revealed no changes in the structure of the organ and hepatocytes in the experimental group, whereas in the control group hemodynamic disorders and dystrophic changes in liver cells were observed. Thus, the use of the composition DAFS-25+Polizon at a dose of 2 mg/kg of live weight in fattening bulls black-and-white breed contributes to the increase of redox processes in the body, stimulation of metabolism, prevent the development of liver disorders of cellular mechanisms of metabolism, optimizes the structure of the liver, which generally provides higher productivity.

The long period of tuberculosis treatment causes patients to have a high risk of forgetting or stopping the medication altogether, which increases the risk of oral anti-tuberculosis drug resistance. The patient’s knowledge and perception of the disease affect the patient’s adherence to treatment. This research objective was to determine the impact of educational videos in the local language on the level of knowledge, perception, and adherence of tuberculosis patients in the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Bangil. This quasi-experimental study design with a one-month follow-up allocated 62 respondents in the intervention group and 60 in the control group. The pre- and post-experiment levels of knowledge and perception were measured with a validated set of questions. Adherence was measured by pill counts. The results showed that the intervention increases the level of knowledge of the intervention group higher than that of the control group (p-value < 0.05) and remained high after one month of follow-up. The perceptions domains that changed after education using Javanese (Ngoko) language videos with the Community Based Interactive Approach (CBIA) method were the timeline, personal control, illness coherence, and emotional representations (p-value < 0.05). More than 95% of respondents in the intervention group take 95% of their pill compared to 58% of respondents in the control group (p-value < 0.05). Utilization of the local languages for design a community-based interactive approach to educate and communicate is important and effective.
