The study aims to develop an effective BIM-project information management framework (BIM-PIMF) and associated assessment model for construction projects with a view to enhancing the functional management of project information. An explanatory case study technique and case study evidence from four BIM construction projects form the study’s research design. The study identified and established the three sub-criteria of the BIM-PIMF model which are the BIM process level factors, BIM product level factors, and the key indicators for a successful BIM deployment on construction project sites. These criterias were semantically linked to the development of the BIM-PIMF framework on a five-point metric scale. The deliverables of this study include the development of the BIM-PIMF framework, together with its analytical scoring system. The findings of the study will improve the information channels of and ease the integration of technological innovations in construction processes while improving the technical competencies of project staff. The study highlighted a basket of effective recommendations and strategies to enhance the deployment of BIM throughout a project lifecycle. Policymakers and government departments can utilize the model in assessing the level of usage of BIM in a construction project as one of the useful measures in gauging which construction firms to be provided subsidies.

PurposeUrban sustainability is an inseparable dimension of today's cities; thus, the role played by creativity, and consequently sustainable urban entrepreneurship and the networks it raises, gives rise to the pro-activity of these two constructs toward a tripartition (economic, social and environmental). This study aims to measure sustainable urban entrepreneurship through a composite of existing indicators in the literature of cities.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, the authors followed a quantitative research by applying exploratory factor analysis. The sample contains 308 towns and cities in Portugal, and the data were collected using secondary databases (e.g. INE; PORDATA).FindingsThrough quantitative research, this study identified the key indicators that mediate sustainable urban entrepreneurship in cities, as a methodological tool for them to evaluate their sustainable entrepreneurial capacity.Practical implicationsThe results obtained here provide information to show that sustainable urban entrepreneurship is an essential construct for cities, allowing a solution to many of their urban problems by its association with creative economy and its influence on the revitalization of urban spaces by urban regeneration, and by the importance of networks in these, the latter being another fundamental construct.Originality/valueThis research makes important contributions to studies considering the sustainability construct in urban entrepreneurship area. It will help to fill part of the gap in existing studies involving the cities’ aspects in entrepreneurship field. Consequently, the main contribution of this study lies in identifying the indicators that contribute to cities' tripartite sustainable balance by assuming sustainable urban entrepreneurship as a crucial premise.

PurposeRecent advancements in electrified transportation have been necessitated by the need to reduce environmentally harmful emissions. Accordingly, several aviation organisations and governments have introduced stringent emission reduction targets for 2050. One of the most promising technologies proposed for achieving these targets is turboelectric distributed propulsion (TeDP). The objective of this study was to explore and identify key indicators for enhancing the applicability of TeDP in air transportation.Design/methodology/approachAn enhancement valuation method was proposed to overcome the challenges associated with TeDP in terms of technological, economic and environmental impacts. The result indicators (RIs) were determined; the associated performance indicators (PIs) were analysed and the key RIs and PIs for TeDP were identified. Quantitative measurements were acquired from a simulated TeDP case study model to estimate the established key PIs.FindingsIt was determined that real-world TeDP efficiency could be enhanced by up to 8% by optimising the identified key PIs.Originality/valueThis study is the first to identify the key PIs of TeDP and to include a techno-economic environmental risk analysis (TERA) based on the identified key PIs. The findings could guide developers and researchers towards potential focus areas to realise the adoption of TeDP.

This article reports on a large mixed methods research project that investigated the conditions of success for Aboriginal school students. The article presents the qualitative case study component of the research. It details the work of four schools identified as successful for Aboriginal students with respect to social and academic outcomes, and showed what was common and contextually different in their relationships with community and their approaches to curriculum and pedagogy. The article shows there were eight common themes that emerged in the analysis of the schools’ approaches, and these themes are considered key indicators of the ‘seeding success’.

O presente artigo visa analisar a aplicabilidade ou não do monitoramento do turismo com o foco na sustentabilidade por meio de indicadores chave do Turismo sustentável propostos pela Organização Mundial do Turismo. A aplicação foi feita em um estudo de caso na unidade de conservação Parque Estadual do Jalapão - PEJ, localizado no Estado do Tocantins, Brasil. Esta é uma pesquisa de caráter interdisciplinar, que teve como norteador o método dedutivo cujo resultado, o indicador Pressão do PEJ, será apresentado. Conclui-se que os pontos chave do turismo sustentável analisados com foco em indicadores ambientais são uma importante ferramenta de avaliação e quantificação desta atividade no destino em estudo e se mostrou adequada para o monitoramento da região. Foi igualmente possível traduzir os principais impactos ambientais que ocorrem nos atrativos e sua intensidade, o que viabilizou uma análise que objetiva traçar caminhos para a correção e prevenção dos impactos apresentados. Application and analysis of tourist pressure as an environmental indicator in Jalapão State Park (TO, Brazil) Abstract: This study aims to analyze whether the monitoring of tourism focused on sustainability is applicable or not through the key indicators of sustainable tourism proposed by the World Tourism Organization. The application of the indicators was made in a case study in Jalapão State Park (JSP) conservation unit, in Tocantins state, Brazil. This is an interdisciplinary research guided by a deductive method, which result, the indicator of pressure of JSP, will be presented. It was concluded that the key points of the sustainable tourism, when analyzed focused on environmental indicators, are an important tool for evaluating and quantifying the activity at the destination studied, being suitable for monitoring for the region. It was also possible to translate the main environmental impacts affecting the attraction and its intensity, facilitating analysis devoted to creating ways to prevent and correct the current impacts. The role of the circular economy has attracted increased attention amongst practitioners and policymakers in recent years. It has been broadly developed and applied at different levels (micro, meso and macro) in developed countries. However, to date, the possibility of a circular economy in Indonesia has not been widely explored or discussed by city actors. This gap in research represents an opportunity to investigate options that may foster the adoption of circular economy principles and practices. Which aspects of the circular economy should be of primary concern, considering Indonesia’s current situation? In response to this question, this paper offers a systemic process of lessons learnt as developed from the literature, identifying certain key aspects that could benefit Indonesia. This study mapped important factors and key indicators that have been claimed to have beneficial effects in the application of circular economy principles in cities. The authors developed a protocol to systematize the literature review process to illustrate gaps and to provide and recommend indicators for circular cities. These are equally applicable to the local situation in North Kalimantan, which we selected as a showcase medium-sized city. Empirical data was collected by interviewing different stakeholders to enrich the theoretical set of circular economy indicators. This case study offered the opportunity to gain a more realistic understanding of what circular cities might look like in the Indonesian situation. The findings allowed us to explore and describe the current circular economy city-level discussion. They also provide insight and information for decision-makers and city actors on how to collaborate to develop a framework to advance circular city initiatives.

Abstract Combined heat and power plants (CHPP) are an important component of the energy balance in many countries. However, of all types of power plants, CHPPs have the largest impact on the environment. In recent years, the urban ecology has become one of the key indicators that determine the quality of life of city residents. The article evaluates the impact of the CHPPs in Ulan-Ude on the example of CHPP-1. The main sources of environmental pollution, and, accordingly, the zone of exposure of CHPP-1’ pollutants have been identified. Virtually the entire territory of the city of Ulan-Ude falls under this zone, but since northwestern winds prevail in this area, the north-western part of the city is most affected. Based on the results of a detailed dispersion calculation, we defined the following substances which should be monitored: nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, mineral oil, and inorganic dust (70-20% SiO2 and coal dust). The concentration of these substances in the air is significant.

The article covers the study of sales and service potential of Ukrainian regions in distributing the industrial products. Using the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the statistical analysis of key indicators of sales and service potential is provided. The analysis of indicators’ dynamics in 2010–2015 shows the stability or insignificant increase in almost all regions. Based on ranking results of Ukrainian regions for sales and service potential, the five-zone matrix of potential is formed. The evaluations show that Kyiv (city), Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions can be defined as leaders, and Chernivtsi and Ternopil regions can be defined as outsiders. High concentration of regions in pessimistic zones of the five-zone matrix of potential indicates the crisis processes in the country. This also defines the high degree of regional disparities and contradictions in service and sales activities in Ukraine.
