Aim. Today, there are a lot of dietary supplements with lingonberry at the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine; therefore, the analysis and quality control of these products are relevant. In this connection, the aim of the research was to study the qualitative composition and determine the quantitative content of phenolic compounds in dietary supplements with lingonberry.Materials and methods. Such dietary supplements as “Extract of lingonberry” (MEDAGROPROM), “Lingonberry” (Danikafarm), “Lingonberry nano” (LSS SYSTEM) were chosen for the study. The qualitative analysis was performed by thin layer chromatography (TLC), spectrophotometry was used for the quantitative determination.Results and discussion. Hydroquinone derivatives, flavonoids and hydroxycinnamic acids were found in the dietary supplements analyzed. The total content of phenolic compounds was 8.70, 0.26, 0.30 %, flavonoids – 6.37, 0.15, 0.12 %, hydroxycinnamic acids – 0.94, 0.06, 0.13 %, and hydroquinone derivatives – 1.01, 0.04, 0.03 % in such dietary supplements as “Extract of lingonberry” (MEDAGROPROM), “Lingonberry” (Danikafarm), “Lingonberry nano” (LSS SYSTEM), respectively. Conclusions. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the dietary supplements with lingonberry analyzed has been performed. “Extract of lingonberry” (MEDAGROPROM) dietary supplement meets the requirements of the State of Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine 2.0, whereas “Lingonberry” (Danikafarm) and “Lingonberry nano” (LSS SYSTEM) do not. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the problem of compliance of dietary supplements is relevant today and requires the introduction of regulatory documentation for the detection and determination of biologically active substances in dietary supplements.

In the article the results of study of qualitative composition and quantitative content of hydroxycinnamic acids in the herb of Stachys sieboldii Miq. are presented. By the method  of HPLC it was established the presence of chlorogenic, rosemarinic, caffeic and p-coumaric acids. Quantitative content of hydroxycinnamic acids was determined by the method of spectrophotometry.

The species of Parmelia genus have long been used in Indian folk medicine for the treatment of bronchitis, ulcers, furunculosis, cardiovascular diseases, urolithiasis, amenorrhea, and also at infectious and inflammatory diseases. In Ukraine, the most common lichens of the Parmelia genus are Parmelia sulcata Tailor and Parmelia vagans Nyl. At the same time, thalli of Parmelia genus lichens belong to the non-officinal and poorly studied types of raw material. The qualitative composition and the quantitative content of phenolic compounds in Parmelia sulcata and Parmelia vagans thalli was studied by HPLC. According to the results of the chromatographic analysis, salazinic, fumaroprotocetraric, usnic acids, chloratranorin and atranorin were identified in both types of raw material studied. In addition, protocetraric acid was identified in Parmelia sulcata thalli. According to the results of the experiment, the total content of identified phenolic compounds in Parmelia sulcata thalli was 2019.71±40.39 g/mol, and in Parmelia vagans thalli it comprised 1754.18±34.77 g/mol. In the thalli of both studied species of Parmelia genus, fumaroprotocetraric acid dominanted by the quantity. This substance was present in Parmelia sulcata thalli in the amount of 474.00±9.00 g/mol, and in Parmelia vagans thalli – 456.21±8.67 g/mol. In addition, a significant amount of chloratranorin (408.79±8.99 g/mol) was present in Parmelia sulcata thalli. Quite a high content of atranorin (393.34±8.65 g/mol) and usnic acid (375.31±7.53 g/mol) were defined in Parmelia vagans thalli. The results obtained can be used in the development of quality control methods for Parmelia sulcata and Parmelia vagans thalli, as well as medicines based on these types of raw materials.

The tiger nut contains different active ingredients like oil, tannins, sterols, saponins, alkaloids, vitamins C and E, minerals, and resins. There is a lack of information about carbohydrates content of Cyperus esculentus L. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the content of carbohydrates of tiger nut herb and tubers. The qualitative composition and quantitative content of carbohydrates in tubers and herb of tiger nut (Cyperus esculentus L.) were determined by using a GC/MS method. The results of analysis showed that tiger nut herb have free carbohydrates, namely D-saccharose, D-glucose, D-Mannitol, and D-fructose, while tubers have only disaccharide D-saccharose. Free D-saccharose presented in raw materials in the greatest amount, the content in tubers was 63.72 mg/g, in the herb – 9.79 mg/g, respectively. Monosaccharides and their derivatives after hydrolysis presented to D-glucose, D-xylose, D-galactose, D-arabinose in tubers, and D-xylose, D-glucose, D-arabinose, D-galactose, D-Dulcitol, D-Mannitol, D-mannose in the herb of tiger nut. D-glucose dominates in tubers and D-xylose in the herb, their content was 177.26 mg/g and 39.07 mg/g, respectively. The total content of fructans was determined by the spectrophotometric method. Its content was 13.49% in tubers and 8.78% in the herb of tiger nut.

Aim. To select the optimal extractant for the extraction of a number of groups of phenolic compounds from Lаurus nоbilis L. leaves based on the determination of the quantitative content of these groups in the extracts obtained. Materials and methods. Lаurus nоbilis L. leaves were harvested in November 2020 from artificially cultivated specimens aged 5 – 7 years. The quantitative determination of polyphenols was performed using the spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 760 nm in accordance with the requirements of the Supplement of the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine (SPhU) 1.2 (2.8.14). The quantitative content of this group of compounds was calculated with reference to pyrogalol and dried substance. The quantitative determination of the amount of hydroxycinnamic acids was performed according to the SPhU 2.2 monograph “Orthosyphon stamen (kidney tea) leavesN” by the spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 505 nm and calculated with reference to rosmarinic acid. The quantitative determination of the amount of flavonoids was performed according to the SPhU 2.0 monograph “Hawthorn leaves and flowers” by the spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 410 nm and calculated with reference to hyperoside.Results and discussion. The analysis of the results for the quantitative determination of polyphenols, the amount of hydroxycinnamic acids and the amount of flavonoids in extracts from Lаurus nоbilis L. leaves obtained using water, water-ethanol mixtures and 96 % ethanol showed that 70 % ethanol was optimal for extracting compounds of these groups. The quantitative content of polyphenols (calculated with reference to pyrogalol) was not less than 21 %, the amount of hydroxycinnamic acids (calculated with reference to rosmarinic acid) – not less than 3 %, the amount of flavonoids (calculated with reference to hyperoside) – not less than 5 %. Conclusions. For the first time, the quantitative content of a number of groups of phenolic compounds (polyphenols, the total amount of hydroxycinnamic acids, and the total amount of flavonoids) in Lаurus nоbilis L. leaves extracts obtained using various extractants has been determined. On this basis, the optimal extractant – 70 % ethanol for the extraction of phenolic compounds has been selected. The results obtained will be used when developing the technology for obtaining substances from Lаurus nоbilis L. leaves.

Recently, there has been a high demand from the population for dietary supplements that have antioxidant activity. First of all, these are dietary supplements with green tea leaf extract, because green tea contains catechins in a fairly high amount. Nowadays, according to the current legislation of Ukraine the qualitative composition and quantitative content of biologically active substances in dietary supplements are not established, which to a certain extent affects the quality and safety of these products. The aim of the study was to determine the qualitative composition and quantitative content of some groups of BAS in dietary supplements with green tea leaf extract. Materials and methods. Three dietary supplements from different manufacturers “Green Tea Extract”, “Green Tea Extract”, “Green Tea” were chosen for the study. Qualitative analysis was performed by thin layer chromatography, for quantification spectrophotometry in the UV-region was used. Results. The presence of catechins was found in the studied dietary supplements, caffeine was found only in trace amounts. The total content of catechins is 146.80 ± 1.36 mg, 79.00 ± 0.88 mg, 28.00 ± 0.75 mg, and in terms of green tea extract, which is stated in dietary supplements for dietary supplements “Green Tea Extract”, “Green Tea Extract”, “Green Tea”, respectively. Conclusions. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of some groups of BAS of three dietary supplements with green tea leaf extract was performed. It was found that dietary supplements “Green Tea Extract” and “Green Tea” meet the requirements of the US Pharmacopoeia 38 in terms of catechins. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the problem of compliance with dietary supplements is relevant today and requires the introduction of regulatory documentation for the detection and determination of biologically active substances in dietary supplements.

Introduction. Phenolic compounds are the most abundant class of biologically active compounds of herbal origin. They possess antioxidant, anti-tumor, antimutagenic, antisclerotic, antibacterial, antiviral, sedative, anti-ulcer and anti-inflammatory activity. Wide distribution of phenolic compounds in the plant world and their usage in medical practice provide the importance of their quantitative determination in prospective plant species, such as artichoke and garlic.The purpose of current work was determination of quantitative content of phenolic compounds in artichoke inflorescences, garlic leaves and bulbs.Methods of research. The content of phenolic compounds was determined using various methods: permanganatometric, spectrophotometric calculated on gallic acid, spectrophotometric according to the SPU method.Results and discussion. The content of the sum of phenolic compounds, determined by permanganatometry, comprised 9,74% in artichoke inflorescences, 8,96% in garlic leaves and 4,85% – in garlic bulbs; determined spectrophotometrically calculated on gallic acid in artichoke inflorescences was 6,58%, in garlic leaves – 6,22%, in garlic bulbs – 2,87%; determined spectrophotometrically according to the SPU method in artichoke inflorescences comprised 4,43%, in garlic leaves – 3,91%, and in garlic bulbs – 2,11%.Conclusions.The quantitative content of phenolic compounds in artichoke, garlic leaves and bulbs was determined using various methods: permanganatometric, spectrophotometric calculated on gallic acid, spectrophotometric according to the SPU method.As a result of the experiment, it was found that phenolic compounds accumulate in the artichoke inflorescences and garlic leaves, and in garlic bulbs their content is lower.The results obtained allow the recommending artichoke inflorescences, garlic leaves and bulbs as the herbal sources of phenolic compounds.

Mirabilis jalapa is a popular decorative plant valued for its beautiful multicolored flowers. Folk medicine in various countries applies Mirabilis jalapa as anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, spasmolytic drug. Chemical composition of different types of Mirabilis jalapa has not yet been adequately studied which is an obstacle for its application in medicine. The qualitative composition and quantitative content of phenolic compounds were studied by the HPLC method. The performed experiment revealed presence of hydroxycinnamic acids, flavonoids, isoflavonoids and coumarins in tested herb. The content of phenolic compounds was the highest in Mirabilis jalapa flowers, counting as much as 2977.41 ± 59.55 µg/mg. Total content of phenolic compounds in Mirabilis jalapa herb was 304.25 ± 6.08 µg/mg, in fruits – 67.92 ± 1.36 µg/mg, and in roots – 12.44 ± 0.25 µg/mg. Quantitatively neochlorogenic acid dominated in flowers, chlorogenic acid in fruits, whereas Mirabilis jalapa herb mostly contained rutin and hyperoside. The obtained results will be useful in the development of quality control methods for Mirabilis jalapa herb and manufacture of drug preparations on its basis.

The qualitative composition and quantitative content of fatty acids in leaves of vegetable marrows (Cucurbita pepo L. var. giromontina Alef.), zucchini (Cucurbita pepo L. var. cylindrica Paris) yellow- and green-fruits varieties were determined by using GC/MS. 14 fatty acids were identified as the result of the experiment. Unsaturated fatty acids were found to be dominated in the raw plant material. The total content of unsaturated fatty acids amounted to 60.47% in vegetable marrows leaves, 64.35% yellow zucchini leaves and 68.85% green zucchini leaves, among which linoleic and linolenic acid dominated. The related health lipid indices (IA, atherogenicity, IT, thrombogenicity and IH, health) were determined. It is shown that the use of such biological resources is actual and expedient for the purpose of alimentary correction of the physiological condition of a person.

AbstractChanges of total content of phenolic substances, alteration in total titratable acidity and differences in tartaric acid content in grapes of four white (Müller-Thurgau — MT, Pinot Blanc — Rulandské bílé in Czech, RB, Sauvignon (Sg), and Muscat Ottonel — Muškát Ottonel in Czech, MO) and two blue (Dornfelder — Df and Blue Frankish — Frankovka in Czech, Fr) grapevine varieties throughout their growth, ripening and maturing (July–November). Potentiometric titration was applied for the determination of total titratable acids in grapes (expressed as tartaric acid equivalents in g L−1). A spectrophotometric method according Rebelein based on the formation of a colored complex of ammonium metavanadate and tartaric acid was used for determination of tartaric acid in green juice made by pressing unripe grapes. A spectrophotometric method based on reduction of phosphomolybdato-tungsten complex in alkaline solution using Folin-Ciocalteau reagent was applied for determination of total content of phenolic substances (TCP).
